Someone tried to take a huge dump at $12.30.
Have to wait for that wall to clear and then it will move upwards!

It's not from BFL.
Why would they test on 50Btc?

|
For what it's worth, at the London Bitcoin Conference Josh stated that BFL planned to keep the returned FPGA equipment in case there was ever a protocol change and a lot of mining power was needed for the new protocol before new ASICs could be produced.
If the protocol will change BFL will earn a lot of money on the mining and selling new ASIC I hope that main bitcoin developers are not corrupt The community could always refuse to switch the new protocol. After all, a change can only happen when 51% of people switch to a new wallet.

price is coming down. onlly 59.99 now You know the resale on these is going to be virtually nil once asics hit, right? M Right, because we all know there's no market for graphics cards outside mining For cards that are two generations old when thousands of miners are trying to get rid of them? Probably not... M I'm glad my 7970 will still be a very good value when I am done mining with it. Not so sure about a 5850 however.

im paying .04 right now at 1500watts so about 1.45 in electric
Gotta love texas
Not all things are bigger in Texas! I'm paying .05 and also live in Texas! Unfortunately I live in liberal Texas, aka Austin They have jacked up fuel costs to $0.13 per kilowatt and $0.11 per kilowatt if you use over 2500 kWh. (Around there) Coming out to $0.24 per kWh summertime. For now it's $0.14 total since October is considered winter in the bill. But wow, $0.13 per kilowatt for fuel? The power plant here uses natural gas which is so cheap.

I just switched to this pool from another due to the high variance lately, and I must say wow. The GUI for the website is amazing, it's great looking at the graph and the close to real time that the website updates. The fees are low, and the overall experience and payout methods are great. Best of all.. no stales

New rate change in Austin, TX.
I now expect to pay $0.11 in winter and $0.23 in the summer. The good thing is that my 7970s are efficient with power so I could stay profitable even with $0.40, although barely enough to cover energy costs.
ASICs will eventually phase out GPUs so power will eventually be a lesser concern.

Question for those of you already with 4 to 6 rig's like gigavips or anyone making a bunch of bitcoins what are ya using for convert your money easyminer? or Mt gox or what?
Obviously an exchange of some sort, or you can simply hold onto the bitcoins.

I guess I'll stick with bitcoin as not to jeopardize that guy's profitability on his litecoin.

I am Curious in light of this new information has anyone tried to contact BFL for a refund? if so has there been any road blocks?
They would most likely not give a refund, especially if you paid in BTC like many others did. Why in the world would you think they wont give a refund? Why is everyone so pessimistic. also, I just got an increase of 50% on my preorders... why would i want a refund? thirdly, Please get a refund. do it as fast as possible before they run You should, actually. Especially since the CEO was convicted of scamming and fraud.

Title says it all.
From what I've seen bitcoin mining is much easier to set up and get it working, while litecoin mining is much more underdeveloped, especially for GPUs.
Is it still more profitable than bitcoin mining like it once was? Or should I stick with bitcoins?

If anyone was as far along with their design as they are saying, they wouldn't be able to change it.
Exactly, they would most likely have to start from scratch and redo the development of the chip. Such an increase is extremely fishy since they advertise that they will be able to ship next month. Watch as the largest scam in bitcoin 2012 unfolds. All ASICs are using multichip architecture in their PCB so you would need to redo the PCB layout, but the actual chip architecture/design. Yet their prices are the same..

CHEAP!
we need hashing results ASAP. The future of bitcoin mining lies in this
Actually it lies in the asics when they come out.. which I don't think they will till next year. derpderpderpderp wtf is sarcasm? ? Please define what sarcasm is please
|
|
|
So they only have basic 3d drafts done? Shouldn't they have made these designs way before they even asked for money?
They asked for money because they didn't or still don't have enough "capital venture" funds to produce and fully develop the ASICs. If not enough people pre order then no ASIC for you.

The article cites a BlueGene system with 768,000 cores. This article clarifies it as a BlueGene/Q system. Wiki said that each BlueGene/Q CPU is an 18-core PowerPC A2 @ 1.6GHz. That's puts Mira between 42 and 43 thousand physical CPUs. We don't really know what those A2 CPUs can do for hashing, but we can estimate. The hardware wiki says that a Power7 from 2010 can get 7.6MH/s with 4 cores at 3.5GHz. Who knows if the A2 is faster than the Power7 (for hashing), but we'll go from those numbers. So 7.6MH/s with 4 cores at 3.5GHz. That's ~0.87MH/s per core at 1.6GHz. Final number for all 768,000 cores: ~667GH/s. That figure of power is easily dwarfed by the bitcoin network as whole

What a fatty
So much hashes though for a graphics card
