201  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: blockchain.info anonimizer eats coins and behaves weird on: July 19, 2012, 01:49:53 PM
There is a fee for anonymizing.

If he received the 1 BTC bonus, it means that the transaction was free. In this case, the anonymizer only subtract the 0.0002 miner fee from what you receive. He should have received 3.458087223 in addition to his 196.54171277.
Are there any fees for anonymous transactions?
The base fee for anonymous transactions is 1.5% fee + 0.0002 BTC miners' fee.

From what I understand the bonus is for ppl who provide clean coins to the mixer

People providing clean coins to the mixer get a bonus + no 1.5% fee. There is no way to get the bonus (as he did) without getting the 0% fee as well. And he says the transaction was stuck in the blockchain without being included, this can well happen due to a non-propagation. Note that this morning blockchain.info didn't have any information about the last few hundreds blocks, so it might well have crashed while having pending transactions that should have been (re)propagated.

Reception confirmed.
204  Economy / Lending / Re: [Lend] 4BTC on: July 19, 2012, 08:29:57 AM
I don't quite understand how that works: you're looking for someone trusted so that you can send him/her a token (4 BTC) that will then be sent back to you (since the person is trusted and will not keep the token) and get a rating for that?

How would that rating mean anything?

It will state that I'm an active member on bitcointalk. (I did a couple of transaction here)

Right.

You can send 4 BTC to 1MXUDzPiHoqU4ZujhVNyJ3QPNbsotWMAxd and I'll repay you tomorrow to the address you indicate here. I would rate you with factual comment, i.e. "Lent me some BTC for 24 hours".

Bitcoin Exchanges: Transparency Sheets

Bitcoin offers a strong level of privacy. In my view, any website functioning as an exchange and taking custody of customer funds does not have this luxury.

The Bitcoin Wiki has a list of exchanges [1],[2] and there are many threads discussing them. This list is my attempt to provide profiles of publicly available data to help you evaluate counterparty risks even further. Excluded are Money Transmitters, Online Wallets, & In Person Traders. In no particular order:
Update the wiki if you want your work to be useful to others.

Well, this kind of information is not available on the wiki even for your own bitcoin-central, and the mandatory legal information (see III‑1) isn't present on the site itself either, while the French law mandates that you give the name of your incorporated entity as well as its registration number (RCS).

So if the information is present in this thread, it will at least be present somewhere.

211  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoinica MtGox account compromised on: July 13, 2012, 01:05:49 PM
Since Bitconica's account was a verified account the owner of this account asked (This happened when Zhou was still controlling Bitconica) to have his limits lifted to the maximum possible, giving the possibility to the thief to move Bitcoinica's assets to another external account (External to MtGox).

I trust they have now put the default limits in place, haven't they?

What about refusing to raise those limits at MtGox if two steps authentication isn't used?
212  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoinica MtGox account compromised on: July 13, 2012, 11:23:58 AM
WTF man? Why aren't the bitcoin stored in a cold wallet?

Bitcoinica didn't have any of my bitcoins so I'm just an observer, but why don't we see a message saying that the remaining ones are now at last stored in a cold wallet? Isn't it the case now? I have the feeling that people "in charge" only talk about the past, never about the present or the future.

Is it possible to make that backup once you have the Authenticator already installed and running?

Wouldn't a back up via Titanium Backup on a rooted device backup the necessary data as well?

That's what I use and it works fine. But I doubt DeaDTerra has already rooted his brand new gadget Smiley
215  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin Wallet for Android: cannot send coins since version 2.18 on: July 12, 2012, 11:11:54 AM
Well, don't forget that regular bitcoin clients (which Bitcoin Wallet connects to as peers) check that a fee is included even to *relay* a transaction in some cases. For example, if your transaction has outputs smaller than 1 cent (0.01 BTC) or if inputs to the transaction are not all 6-confirmed, I seem to remember (I don't have the source code handy right now so the numbers may be wrong) that the client will check that at least 0.0001 BTC is included as a fee before relaying the transaction.

The regular client won't let you try to broadcast a transaction that it would not accept itself, but the Android Bitcoin Wallet doesn't make such (admittedly arbitrary) checks, that may explain why the transaction are not being broadcast.
216  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin Wallet for Android: cannot send coins since version 2.18 on: July 12, 2012, 10:51:29 AM
You can use the recipient address on blockchain.info to list all the transactions this address has been part of, including transactions not included in a block.
217  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin Wallet for Android: cannot send coins since version 2.18 on: July 12, 2012, 10:31:42 AM
Have you checked if the transaction was broadcasted even though it is not included in a block? You can check it on http://blockchain.info. Did you include a fee in the transactions? Does the software connect to peers (you can monitor them from the menu)?

220  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: SEPA to MtGox takes very long on: July 09, 2012, 08:38:21 AM
My deposit has been cleared after 11 days instead of one. However, I still do not feel that Mt.Gox acted openly on this one: first, I was asked for more information about the SEPA transfer itself, as if they could not find it, then after a long time without any communication from Mt.Gox I was told it was because of new AML requirements. In this case, asking me for more information about my SEPA transfer looks like you guys were trying to buy time.

If we do new SEPA transfers, should we expect the same process or has a problem that might be causing the delay be fixed on your side?
