Welcome our new core developer, Vertoe!

Vertoe (AKA “vertoe”) is an acadamic grade software engineer fallen in
love with C/C++. She is working as a freelance programmer for a well
known NGO in the area of netactivism and recently started backporting
upstream features to enable a modern Darkcoin Core reference implementation.

https://www.darkcoin.io/about/team-contact/

SHE?

I vote for vertoe to be an official dev!

You didn't know that?

Lebubar at darkcointalk said vertoe is a man.
https://darkcointalk.org/threads/closed-masternode-shares-with-automated-payouts.1425/page-9#post-14805

Well, unless he/she misrepresented herself here, she is a woman.

https://darkcointalk.org/members/

I've never met him/her personally...

Anyway, who cares. Vertoe likes privacy and code has no sex.

The Online Gaming Industry Welcomes Darkcoin: Interview with DirectBet.eu ......>

 Grin Cool Grin

nice one, thanks for that. is the online bet market even bigger than the blackmarket?

According to all the betting activity in this thread, it could very well be Smiley

btw, your image for that story was great!

Thanks for the info guys. I could not wait and run my second wallet in a Virtual Machine. I got the MN# 1440 and 1441 :)I am short 175 DRK to get my MN#3. I have a small bet placed. If everything goes the way I wanted, I should have my MN#3 this Sunday and have 30DRK left over for my next bet Smiley . Of course if DRK prices stay still till then.

For a situation like yours another user made a deal with splawik21 and me in which splawik21 lent him the funds he still didn't have for his next masternode and I escrowed. I had the cold wallet for that masternode in escrow (the loan funds and the part that user already had) while it generated payments to repay the loan and fees. The user sent the payments from his other masternodes to that wallet, so everything was repaid faster. Once everything was ready, I sent the funds back to each party.

If your bet doesn't you the way you expect and you are interested in something similar please post in darkcointalk's marketplace (https://darkcointalk.org/forums/marketplace.9/).

How many supporters would you say this community has? I guess there is no way to count wallets but roughly numbers?
Difficult to say. Also, it depends on what you call supporters. One not very bad proxy (I know, very low bar) could be the number of registered users at darkcointalk (2k). Some do not post but lurk. Some are inactive, but there are also some supporters who have not registered there. I would love to see a better measure.

http://wiki.darkcoin.qa

anybody knows this page ?!?

 Huh

Looks like Holger put it together!  Wow, I didn't know it existed either.  I wonder if he is working on it in the background and is getting ready to spring it on us, but you uncovered it first Wink
Nope, it is public, it's linked from darkcoin.io (under resources) and Vertoe has requested people to contribute a few times in darkcointalk. It is a wiki, so we can all help if we feel like it. I did my fist page a few days ago and it is super easy. I agree that it is impossible to keep up with so many people doing things... and that feels amazing  Smiley Smiley Smiley

Is there a Spanish community somewhere? I was just asked and I actually don't know of one.

We have a quite active thread about Darkcoin in the spanish subforum where we post all novelties, we answer newbie doubts, etc.:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=789054.0;all

We have also very active bitcoin related (with some fellow darkcoiners) communities in Barcelona  (see my signature) and Madrid. If you want to come to a visit us u are more than welcome  Smiley
I didn't know that, the one at darkcointalk has very little activity and I had assumed we were only a few, I'll try to go there more Smiley

I've got the biggest balls in the entire crypto land.  Tongue

I lost 50BTC doing that a few weeks ago.

Well, my initial stake was 2BTC and I built it up to 50BTC so I'm pretending that I only lost 2BTC   Cry

ouch. how long did i take to build up the 50 btc?

About 1 hour.  I have no idea how I did it.  I was lost in a horrendous click flurry.  Seriously scary how you can just find yourself clicking away as if it isn't real money.  I do know that on one occasion I accidentally placed a large 10% bet and won!  I started off carefully and ended up barely even concentrating.

£500 lost.  Could have been £12.5k gained.

The house (and maths!) won.  I definitely lost.

Some of you people need help.

www.gamblersanonymous.org/

 Tongue

Wise words.

In my case I'm too scared to gamble now!

you told your wife about that session?

Yes.  She told me that I was a "total fucking idiot" and laughed at me for nearly an hour.
If it was only an hour you're an extremely lucky man with a wonderful wife  Cheesy

Side note: When you search for "darkcoin foundation" on duckduckgo the title of the foundations official page shows as "Darkcoin Foundation - Just another Wordpress Site"  Grin   https://duckduckgo.com/?q=darkcoin+foundation

Just solved that, thanks for reporting it! it also appeared on the browser bar when visiting the site  Angry

It will probably take a couple days for search sites to reindex.

Welcome Patrick McHardy to the team!

Patrick is a freelance Linux kernel networking developer and used to lead the netfilter project (http://www.netfilter.org) until 2013. He's been working on anything related to networking from firewalling, IPv4/v6-stack, QoS to DECT and GSM for the past 14 years.

He's also helped analyze the security of the Masternode network and was responsible for finding two recent security vulnerabilities in DSEE/DSEEP.

https://www.darkcoin.io/about/team-contact/

Awesome~!!

this keeps getting better and better Smiley

welcome Patrick, great to have you here. I see you got huge expertise in networking http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Netfilter

Wow, I'm pretty stupid, but it looks like this project basically invented iptables and he is listed as a core developer, and in order to be a core developer you have to submit successful patches for a long period of time and be cool. I may have misread but it seems like he's a badass.

Your reading skills are just right, he's an amazing developer!!

Are there plans for the foundation to setup masternodes with the funds they gather? May be a bit early for this question.

If they have the spare funds then I'm sure they will, no reason not to.

It would be badass if they could get enough masternodes to have a healthy daily income. I'm sure that's in the plan somewhere.

Or purchase shares in a legit cloud mining operation, which will bring good income for developers.

I know a couple that are not Ponzi's that would serve the foundation well.

There are no plans yet about what to do with the funds because we don't have a clue about how much we'll have Smiley In a few days we'll do a press release to give this some more publicity, but truth is that the people who may be interested in joining will probably have already heard about the foundation by then. We will probably wait for a couple weeks for things to stabilize and then we can start to plan with a better view on who we are. One thing we do know is that the foundation should pay for the infrastructure of Darkcoin that is currently being funded by Evan and Holger out of their pockets.

As explained in the website (https://www.darkcoinfoundation.org/about/funds/), all funds are stored in multisig address and you can all check, so it is easy to see how things are going. You can even follow your funds from your wallet to the payment processor and then to the multisig. Btw, the difference between the amount sent and the amount received is the payment processor fee (0.5% + 0.001 per withdrawal... all charge similar amounts and this one works great).

What a brilliant plan  Smiley
Yes, exelent.
Can I get two life time in case I resurect once?  Grin

Fernando, did the foundation will need some worldwide representant? I will gladly help for Mexico branch.
I think you should get three lifetime memberships to be really safe  Grin Grin Now seriously, you can't get more than one, but if someone is able and wants to give more, we also accept donations (https://www.darkcoinfoundation.org/donate/) or that person could sponsor another one.

Help is always needed, everywhere. The foundation is established in the US because is where Evan is located and where most of crypto developments happen, but Darkcoin has a really diverse community, with a big percentage of it outside of the US (me included, I'm in Spain). We are probably too small to be able to create local groups with any success, but all of us should try to evangelize in our local communities when possible to change that. If you need the foundation to help with anything for that, just ask and we can arrange something. It is great to know that we have a supporter in Mexico, I'm super optimistic about your country.

Btw, I want to tackle the language problem soon and start translating things. Your help with Spanish would be greatly appreciated Smiley

LOL, good luck getting that 501 (c), the IRS is putting those in the back of the bottom drawer filing cabinet, LOL.  (sorry, I couldn't help myself!  LOL)

Trying to find the sub-forum on DCT, Vertoe came up with a great idea last night and I want to pull the trigger, need the foundation's blessing first...

The forum is not there yet. I talked about it with Propulsion and he was ok with it, but we had no specific date when we discussed. I've written him and I hope we can set that up in the next couple of days.

Yeap, it froze for me a few times, so I've just logged out.

I'll try to be around later.

Thanks for sharing!

Partially off topic, but you post (and I guess read) a lot here, so maybe you can answer. Do you use any additional tool to keep up with the forum? I would love to be able to automatically download certain threads and read them in a more convenient format. Set up alarms for some terms...

Nope, I don't know of any tools for that, though the forum is so wealthy in theory that it could be made very more user friendly and customizable, but the money donated to it doesn't seem to be spent on that much if at all, so it's the way it is.
Not long after I joined I tried to buy this forum, hahah.  I knew where it was going but wanted to convert it to vbulletin 3.8.x and make it infinitely more user friendly.

No dice.  Sad
Too bad! there so much valuable information somewhere inside the forum...

Otoh, I've not seen someone with Activity 1260 before and I've never really understood why the last dot is partially green.

Tell us your story, when did you get into Bitcoin and what did you do to get that status?  Smiley

The partial green dot is from donating 10 BTC to the forum, see: https://bitcointalk.org/donate.html

You get a different coloured one for a 50 BTC donation.

Legendary status is just posting on a lot of different threads over time I expect, not sure.

As my profile shows I joined the forum in June 2011, after hearing about BTC from the wired article on TSR, I bought my first coins in August and watched them fall in value for the rest of the year, ie this was in September 2011:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=41295.msg508727#msg508727

It's been a fun and life changing ride and I'm sure that it will be so going forward also, for many years I've predicted 2017 for wide spread crypto adoption, especially and primarily in the States.
