203  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If Satoshi returns on: March 23, 2013, 02:54:25 PM
What do you think would happen if Satoshi popped on the forum one day and said hi?

What if he started to contribute again?

Or even if he revealed his true identity and traveled the world doing TV interviews and such? (unlikely)

WE WOULD SAY:
Satoshi - THANK YOU!!!

And BTW. please don't do it Smiley Do not reveal your identity. People love mysteries Smiley
204  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin backing, blockchain.info? on: March 20, 2013, 08:18:22 PM
Well Bitcoins does not come from blockchain.info.
It's just an online wallet.

Somebody will explain to you soon. But please read a little bit more Wikipedia... there is nothing about blockchain.info... it's all about distributed blockchain.

But don't worry. Everybody here had to learn a lot - because bitcoin is all new technology.

206  Local / Polski / Re: Polski! on: March 19, 2013, 11:12:27 PM
Szanowni Państwo,

Jako pierwszy w Polsce konferencją naukową dotyczącą Bitcoin organizuje prof. Leszek Dziawgo wraz z Kołem Naukowym Progres.
Odbędzie się ona dnia 19.04.2013 na Uniwersytecie Mikołaja Kopernika w Toruniu.

Bitcoin to forma tokenu (wirtualengo żetonu).
Kupujemy żeton w Polsce za 10zł. Wysyłamy żeton do USA.

Gdy ośrodek akademicki o takiej randze jak Uniwersytet podejmuje tematykę Bitcoin - z pewnością przedmiot niniejszej dyskusji zostanie rzeczowo i w prosty, przystępny sposób - wyjaśniony.

Z przyjemnością odpowiemy na wszystkie Państwa pytania dotyczące Bitcoin - podczas konferencji a także na te, które zostaną nam zadane drogą emailową.

Z pozdrowieniami,
Maciej,

209  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: March 11, 2013, 10:06:29 PM
But it's not just a mining company.
May I ask you to write a little bit more about this issue?

Is the ASICMINER going to sell some produced ASICs and share the income between its shareholders? Or why is the value so high?
Smiley
210  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: March 11, 2013, 09:47:23 PM
There are 400 000 shares of ASICMINER...
Each worth ca 0.60 BTC...
400000*0.6 = 240 000 BTC
which is (today at 48usd/btc rate) = 240000*48 = 11 520 000 USD

Am I correct here? Smiley

My question is:
How much is the equipment owned by ASICMINER worth?

We could compare it to Avalon's 65Gh/s @ 1499USD
6000Gh/65gh = ASICMINER has power of 92,31 Avalons which is = 92,31 * 1499 = 138 372 USD.

Am I wrong?

Hi Smiley

Dear,
@burnside

I'm a small shareholder of yours ASICMINER-PT and I have two questions before I start to invest more:

1) We all wish you good health and 100 years of live. BUT: To be sure that investment in ASICMINER-PT is a good idea I need to ask like in BTC-TC FAQ: "What happens if your main developer gets hit by a bus?" (Of course this is philosophical question) Smiley
Is there anybody who co-operate with you and know all passwords etc. to pay us the dividends and so on?

2) Is ASICMINER going to have more TH/s anytime soon? Where we can read about the plans and the timeframe of gaining more HashPower?

Good luck,
Cheers!

Amazon.com and bitcoin now have an interesting link: A popular e-commerce shopping cart for merchants can now accept bitcoin payments and move orders to Amazon for shipping.

BitPay, which develops software and payment services for merchants around bitcoin, said it has developed a special module for WooCommerce, a widely used e-commerce platform and shopping cart for WordPress.

I was at a technology conference earlier this week, and the most popular topic of casual conversation was Bitcoin, the electronic currency invented and unleashed a few years ago.

Interestingly, the conversation started before Bitcoin prices went bananas earlier this week.

During dinner on Sunday night, Bitcoins were worth about $35 apiece.

By the time the conference ended this morning, they had hit $49.

That meant that one of the folks who extolled the virtues of Bitcoin to me at dinner on Sunday had booked an electronic profit of 40% on his Bitcoins in three days.

Not bad!

A Bitcoin transaction services company says that hackers broke into one of its brokerage accounts last week, nabbing more than $12,000 worth of the digital currency.

That attack knocked Bitinstant offline over the weekend. The company says that while it lost Bitcoins, no customers were affected by the hack.

The criminals were able to take control of Bitinstant’s internet domains by convincing its domain registrar, Site5, to hand over control of the company’s Domain Name Service, or DNS. “Armed with knowledge of my place of birth and mother’s maiden name alone (both facts easy to locate on the public record) they convinced Site5 staff to add their email address to the account and make it the primary login,” the company said Monday in a blog post detailing the incident.

With control of the DNS, the bad guys also had control over Bitinstant’s email. They then did an online password reset at a Bitcoin exchange called VirWox and started emptying Bitinstant’s account. The total haul: $12,480.

The attack worked on the VirWox exchange because Bitinstant’s account didn’t have two-factor authentication.
