201  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Atomic Swaps or Decentralized Exchanges? on: March 10, 2021, 11:47:13 PM
Which atomic swap service is the best out there that allows you to sell your popular common crypto's for dai?

Are decentralized exchanges same as atomic swaps?
Decentralized exchange out there are totally not the same as atomic swap/Binance Dex cause DEX exchange allow people to perform exchange of crypto currency without surrender the control of crypto to any exchange or swap service provider which is not what atomic swap executes.

Do both of these services have to comply with tax regulations and KYC? If not then can governments ban them or shut them down?
No, they (genuine decentralized exchange) operate independently.

Which is the best decentralized exchange out there?
Uniswap
Mdex
Pancakeswap
Vitex
You can check coingecko for there list
202  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: login credential details with bitcoin apps on: March 10, 2021, 11:26:08 PM
If you want to use a centralized exchange site, make sure you go reputation exchange cause with that the chance of your coins getting stole by the exchange itself is narrow and exchange like Binance is good since they have SAFU but it not advisable to keep huge coin on an exchange though.

1. Once i purchase bitcoins in my wallet these 3rd party applications like binance and coinbase can easily transfer your bitcoins to some other address as they have your user id and password stored in their centralized server using node or mysql. So what is the solution for this situation. can some one please explain?
Which means ones the bitcoin is transferred to custodial exchange from your noncustododial wallet, it means it is no longer yours on blockchain.
The OP may misunderstand this.
@nick.bitcoiner, the coin is not in your control though you are the owner but technically it's automatic belong to the exchange site.

203  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum on: March 10, 2021, 09:46:01 PM
So I bought some Ethereum for £1070 a few days ago and it is now worth £1326. Would now be a good time to sell for a small profit?

I am investing more long term in Bitcoin but wanted to trade a bit on smaller coins i.e Ethereum etc.

Selling for a small profit is not a sin or something bad but the market bullish momentum is very much functional selling now will make you lose much more profit. However, you need to create a stop lost strategy which will prevent you from making lost when a dump happens suddenly in the market.
204  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: When do you expect the Altcoin rally? on: March 08, 2021, 10:57:48 PM
Altcoin rally happens by itself for now I see altcoins can go up by themselves without the need for full btc help I know the price of btc will affect altcoins but not entirely.
Altcoin rally doesn't happen by itself cause it precisely happens footing market (traders/investors) decision and this current altcoin rally happen through the help of Bitcoin cause Bitcoin market usually help cryptocurrency market to gain outstanding traffic whenever it halving. However, the momentum and greenish price of Bitcoin during the total lockdown when every market setting was experiencing a dump in price is the reason why most altcoins gained institutional investor's affection.
205  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How to decide about fees? is it necessary ? on: March 08, 2021, 10:33:01 PM
Hello, can anybody help with Fees and how to determine how much it should be ?
It necessary to decide fee to avoid stuck of transaction but you'll need to use a Bitcoin transaction estimator which provides you the best fee to send your transaction footing the size of mempool.

is it associated with amount of bitcoin?
A transaction fee is associated with the total input/output count, transaction size, and the wallet use (if it Segwit or Legacy supported wallet but Segwit provides low fee opportunity).

some says fee is not required when paying with bitcoin ! and some wallets require you to choose fees !  is it necessary ?
Fee is required when making a transaction in Bitcoin but you need to pay if you're sending the Bitcoin within a certain exchange or platform that offer free transaction between their user.

How are fees technically calculated ?
For legacy supported wallet
bytes = inputs * 146 + outputs * 33 + 10
For Segwit supported wallet
vBytes = inputs * 68.5 + outputs * 31 + 10

206  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: my 2 wallets on: March 08, 2021, 10:05:55 PM
Hello all. Finally got my to wallets and i am 98% finished syncing with bitcoin core full node.
If the wallet sync is 98% there's the chance for it to show wallet balance but if you're not using the wallet to mine there's no reason for you to run the full node.

One wallet is 1.3mb in size and the other is 900kb.
There's no way for a full node wallet that's 98% sync to be 1.3MB or 900kb in size and running a full node wallet requires a minimum of 145 gigabytes of disk space.

My question is, should there not show some transactions in wallet one allready, even though bitcoin core is 98% synced? also when my wallet is at 1.3mb, it should not show as empty.
thanks
A wallet Bitcoin core full node wallet which is 1.3MB is not 98% sync and it won't update the wallet balance.
207  Economy / Speculation / Re: If the FBI wallet with 141,000 bitcoins was stolen what would happen? :o on: March 07, 2021, 11:27:48 PM
There are thousands of bitcoins in the hands of the FBI, how they securely store bitcoin? And what types of employees are able to access it?

At the current price it's worth more than 7 billion dollars!!  Shocked
No one outside their cartel will how they store the BTC or the employee that have access to it but why asking this question?

If the FBI wallet with 141,000 bitcoins was stolen what do you think would happen with the bitcoin price?

https://www.blockchain.com/btc/address/35hK24tcLEWcgNA4JxpvbkNkoAcDGqQPsP
The wallet precisely it was 141451.596 BTC not 141,000BTC and the last time I read about the FBI holding they was planning to sell the BTC which I thought they have until now but looking at the wallet transaction they have already sold some part of the BTC.
Having said that, if the BTC inside the wallet was stolen, it will affect the BTC market price and will lead to possibly market blood bath but I don't see it happening.
208  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Thailand government seeks measures to tackle the problems of illegal gambling. on: March 06, 2021, 10:57:13 PM
But, the money was never going to the government from these illegal sites and bookies anyway so the best they can do is just try and ban all the illegal stuff that happens.

I don't understand one thing honestly. How do gamblers actually cash their winnings. I understand they might make bets and win money in BTC let's say and withdraw without any problems from the casino. But once they cash the BTC for fiat, they will have to answer from where they got this money and have to pay taxes on them. So how do these guys avoid them always confuses me.

Even if they take the PayPal route by converting their BTC into Paypal and withdrawing to the bank, then still the money comes to the bank at the end of the day and you have to pay taxes and answer the tax authorities about how you earned it.

Many of the countries allow international travellers to carry up to $10,000 in cash with them (that limit may vary from country to country). Purchasing Bitcoin is going to be one of the most attractive options. Also, there are other options, such as purchasing gold coins, luxury items.etc. Another option is to purchase prepaid debit cards, which require no KYC. There are hundreds of options and unless the individual in question wins millions of USD in prizes, it is not going to be an issue.

Correct but as a crypto enthusiast, I guess I would prefer to carry bitcoin as its safer and untraceable. Debit card is also good though but crypto is the best, as long as you understand its volatility and know how to manage it, you can always carry as much as you want, even $1 million usd as it's all in your wallet.
Bitcoin is safer and not untraceable if you don't use privacy wallet or tumbler and footing the OP explanation about how the illegal gambling is done, the possible payment used by the gamblers to the house fiat currency, gold coin, etc because the gambling are performed in person not online so the use crypto as payment may not be allowed and the chance of people contacting the virus is high, that's the reason why the Thailand government want to take a drastic measure.

IT was even a double penalty, it is a scandal in VAR era.

1-1 1st half
Your nerves brothah, Juventus come back from far far away and nuked Lazio 3-1!
I was thinking about making a bet for Juve when it was behind with 1 goal but said nope. That was a mistake tho Undecided

It wasn't a mistake though because today's game between the two seems unpredicted during the first 35minutes despite the odds was in favor of Juventus and I once thought that Lazio was using the game as a payback to Juventus previous winning whenever they met cause Juve have defeated them on several occasion.
Next week they will face Cagliria which would be an easy-to-win game for them.
210  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have you ever lost a bet in this way? on: March 06, 2021, 10:00:35 PM
I used to gamble in a different way till we got introduced with a feature called "Cashout" which wasn't there for few years on crypto gambling sites.
The cashout feature was also integrated on Betnomi and it actually a great feature if manage properly but it could also be a disaster though.

Now, whenever you make bets, not some average or tipped ones but high confidence bets, you see that you've already won and the odds that you placed your bet on (which could be higher than, let's say 1.50x) and it has dropped to 1.01x, will you use your "Cashout" feature and leave / lose a few % of profit just because you fear that the game can still change? Or you'll just go with the flow and let the game run, and you'll wait till the end to get complete profit?
Some bookmakers manipulate the odds sometimes, that's why I don't rely on the odds when making my betting decision and it better to trust one's instinct than cashout the game in the middle of the road. Besides, gambling is a game of chance logically it can't be profitable always.
211  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Crypto scam on Instagram on: March 06, 2021, 01:28:58 AM
The last time I check this manner of cryptocurrency scam has been in existence since 2016 and what they are doing is just improve their strategy.
Well criminals evolved as well, when the market adjust, they also adjust. And the thing is that it seems though that they are one step ahead of the game, very sad.
To be sincere, they are not much ahead of the game and what they did is to target newbies every time the market gained enormous traffic.

Anyone that still fall for the scam is definitely a greedy, sluggish and ignorant, impatient individual looking alternative way to make money through crypto.

Probably, and sometimes someone really need to fall for the scammers trick to learn their lesson. I know it doesn't sound right, but for someone to learn, they need to experience it first hand.
You make a point but learning some lesson through a cryptocurrency scam during this time that the world at large is currently battling with the Covid-19 and economic meltdown doesn't sound right.
212  Other / Meta / Re: Get Donator status by donating 10 BTC on: March 05, 2021, 11:38:08 PM
You're absolutely right but there are a lot of Bitcoin millionaires (mostly early adpoters) who can still donate 10BTC to the forum but it rare though for them to do the donation. Wait a minute, the donation is even enough to participate and pay a maintenance cost in the build a seastead which was once introduced by Theymos.
I do not think that there are a lot of Bitcoin Millionairs.
I would bet that there are less than 5 if any other than Satoshi (and even his amount of bitcoin are not sure that these expected 1 million belongs to him)
Not counting an exchange as these funds are only in custody to their customers (but sure not your keys, not your coins)

They are talking about millions worth of BTC in USD not millions of bitcoins.  There are quite a bit more than 5 out there.  According to this article there are more than 93 thousand out there holding more than a million dollars worth of BTC.  It wouldn't be surprising if many of these folks were members here at one point and maybe there's even a few lurking around or participating here and there.
Footing the current price of the market the 10BTC is not even a million dollars and speaking of some Bitcoin millionaire lurking around the forum or once make a contribution in the forum at some point, I believe there are some Bitcoin millionaires among the wall observer poster cause they seems to be serious investors.
213  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC price is 47k$, is good time to invest ? on: March 05, 2021, 11:08:15 PM
Soon hitting mark around 40k-42k if we see green dot at 4h mark it's a big buy. Best chance to buy it in some time. I think we will see a lot of green next week.
It has dropped to $44k and that was a good time to buy.

The weekend's done and we're on another long day for the weekdays which shall trade and pumps might occur. Just as usual, after drops, you see recovery.

Nothing new.

The market dumping to the $44K range doesn't make $44K price a good to buy either if the dip price momentum still exists in the market, doesn't mean investors can not seize the opportunity to invest now but it will require good portfolio management to specify the coin buy now and those that will require during another dip price if it occurs.
Having said that, the market has escaped the dip market but the dump trend repeats itself again from Thursday/Friday to Sunday then we see another market direction.
It is a good time to buy. Maybe not for you but for others, it is.

$49,100 right now and that's why if somebody bought on that price, he did a good decision and no need to worry at all.
Don't misunderstand me. Every market season is a good time to buy but not for every traders or investor cause some people have invested and make losses even when the market is doing generously.
Having said that, we are currently in another market trend just as I presume since the market experience correction from Thursday so I expect the same thing to happen next week.
214  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Lost Bitcoines In A Transaction to Coinbase on: March 05, 2021, 10:46:09 PM
AFAIK, Coinbase webwallet will give new address everytime when you click the deposit address it doesn't mean if you send the coins to previously generated one was sent to a wrong address.
The last time I checked, coinbase generated new deposit address base on user requests.
But its just norml to get new address every time even if it is unused still you will get new address every time so a complete newbie may think that it was not the address where he send his coins.
Yes, it normal to get new address but the new addresses are not generated automatically cause it was program to generate base on user request and newbieeee only need to be sure the address was the exact deposit address provided on their coinbase account.

But I guess it is possible to see all the generated address in their account by logging into their desktop site.
Certainly.

Yes, it does not look like a wallet that belongss to a big exchange like coinbase. I check an old coinbase wallet I once used back in the year 2016 and it shows coinbase wallet to be 00000014ea not 00052e20f14c2c57.
Coinbase and other big exchanges have an unknown number of hot wallets and an unknown number of cold wallets, each with an unknown number of addresses in them. Only a small number of their wallets are publicly known about, and they will be generating new wallets and new addresses all the time to accommodate new customers and new deposits.
Agreed.
215  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Pfizer-BioNtech vaccine, is it the end to the deadly corona virus? on: March 05, 2021, 10:18:47 PM
Population reduction. I don't understand why countries want their military to get the experimental vaccine. They need their soldiers to fight. Of course, with the elderly it doesn't matter at all, right? Those people are almost gone anyway, right? Who cares if the vaccine makers are going to be elderly sometime, right?
You make a good point about the use of the military for the experimental vaccine cause they are making alot of sacrifices for the country but the use of the elderly people for the experimental vaccine is not good either and it does matter alot even if they are going to die soon.
Having said that, the experiment should be performed on a volunteer.

Elderlies are actually volunteers who signs a written consent before they get vaccinated.
I am aware of that but I only disagreed with @BADecker statement about the elders being used as an experiment for the covid-19 vaccine without their permission. We'll all grow old someday and we will be treated the same way we treat the elders of today.
216  Economy / Gambling / Re: BitsArcade.com - Crypto Gambling Platform - Start with a 50% deposit bonus! on: March 05, 2021, 09:00:46 PM
On the site FAKE certification domains: itechlabs.us and ecogra.biz.
Original certification domains: itechlabs.com and ecogra.org.
not sure if its really a fake site because all domains are pretty much the same ( i visit them all )  . i think this is normal and maybe they migrated thier domain extension to another one because to some sites that i visit i can also visit them with other extension but landed on the same webpage ( original site not phished ) or fakely made .

the site is generous to give a 50 doge or 2 usd bonus but what is the catch , there is no other restriction with this ? you should add because anyone might abuse this
@markk1, you need to do better research before making a negative statement about any project because the company reputation depends on it.
@shoreno, you're right everything about the site license is still skeptical and won't be good to jump to a conclusion without further investigation but the question is this site has been in existence since  August 5, 2018, and never join the forum why now?
I sent an email to Ecogra to confirm the issue but they haven't reply.

Before writing anything about this project, I wrote a letter to play2x.com, and received an answer. It seems everything is obvious, re-read this topic again well.
You are right about that and the OP also does not defend himself cause he was online yesterday. Have anyone write an email to the license provider site to confirm if the license is genuine?

Where did you get that date? The domain itself is not older than 3 months when I check it on whois.
There are too many suspicious things in this site if you ask me.
Yes, there are too many skeptical things about the site which make have alot of an unanswered question.
Site was 3 month cause it domain was renew this year but if you check the site using web archived wayback site you will see the site history. It does not justify the OP to be the previous owner though.
217  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Its a bull trap now on: March 05, 2021, 11:25:25 AM
I have gone a small research and grab some points and conclusions.

Now the market is extremely volatile and extra hype. So what ever the hypes now are temporary , bear market sure will come in next days.
The Crypto market might be a speculation setting but the current market season is never extra hype though the bearish market should be expected from now till the weekend which was what happened last week what we're seeing now is a replication.

If you have fresh investments , do not invest now. wait for 2-4 weeks lets see.
Invest now is never before it Monday is never a wrong decision than waiting for 2-4 weeks.

November to now almost 4 months came bull market without major bear signals. now pop out some signals. So now bulls are temporary. Please keep your hard earned money for weeks.

give opinion others.
Yes, there seems to be no bearish signal because we're in bullish market season and the market usually experience slight market correction instead of the bear.

219  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: We should build a seastead on: March 04, 2021, 11:43:27 PM
Bir Tawil (aka water well) shouldn't be see as an interesting location cause it is a deserted territory with just sand, mountains and no water that's the reason why it was not claimed by Sudan or Egypt.
I think British Virgin Islands, Zimbabwe and Liberland could be the best place part with sovereignty.
220  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Learning is better than Following on: March 04, 2021, 11:03:55 PM
OP, I am sure someone will get something from your knowledge because we are in the season where the message posted or tweet wrote by some influential are seeing as investment advised by a lot of cryptocurrency trades/investors which shouldn't have been like that and it sad either that people ignore the learning aspect before chasing after making a profit.
