201  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: HERE IS ANOTHER IMPORTANT THREAD TELLING YOU NOT TO MINE WITH DEEPBIT on: June 08, 2011, 06:43:58 AM
children, seriously, you are spamming up the forum with your naive blathering. if tycho tries anything fishy with his pool, it will instantly dissolve like a tab of acid on the tongue as the people in his pool flee. tycho is making 3% off of his 50% share of the network. that means hes personally getting 1.5% of all the bitcoins generated right now. you think he would risk that to fake some piddly 50 bitcoin blocks? the people that post these threads are so very profoundly stupid.

Prove it.

Let's say hypothetically tycho forks the block chain about 1000 times, and blocks all the other pools from getting any confirmations of blocks. 5000 people who never read the forums or watch the block chain or know anything other than "my stats are goin up at a fantastic rate!" are going to stop mining on deepbit because...?

Your post sounds the most profoundly stupid to me.

1) what would tycho gain from forking the block chain 1000 times? hes making more money by not doing that.
2) if these hypothetical people don't read the forums, how did they learn about tycho's pool to begin with?

the unsuccessful always try to punish the successful

If the pool at that size exists, it doesn't have to be Tycho.
Anyone who potentially could gain control of the pool.
AKA anyone who would either hijack, or hack deepbit.
By either cunning network skills, or by just figuring out who/where Tycho is, and jacking him in person.

and either way, his pool would instantly dissolve.

204  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: For the love of god, point your miner away from deepbit on: June 08, 2011, 06:24:01 AM
how bout a pool with Pay Per Share above 0.0000793149 and payments as low as 0.01 ?

there was a pool called bitpenny that did that. it went under because it wasn't profitable.
205  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [~2300 Gh/s Mining Pool] HTTPS,API, instant payouts,LP,+1% for NO INVALID BLOCKS on: June 08, 2011, 06:20:41 AM
so many silly newbies hating on tycho. deepbit is the best pool. that's all there is to it. if you don't like his share of the network, make a pool that's better then his. none of these complainers will though. some people take action and some just bitch. I cant wait for the bitcoin network to shake off the naive kids as the business oriented move in.
206  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: For the love of god, point your miner away from deepbit on: June 08, 2011, 06:11:31 AM
make a pool that has all the stability and features of deepbit and I'll consider moving to it. he's winning 50%+ because the others aren't competitive. his wasnt the first pool. its just the best.

Obviously this is on my kitchen counter. My major block to expanding further is power consumption. I have multiple investors lined up but I would have to get some sort of facility to house them in that would keep them cool and power them without burning down.

I'm not sure how effective polite letters to the good senator are anymore. If they worked, we wouldn't be where we are today.

If someone wants to send him a message, it could be along these lines ....

This should be made our official moto

SPOILER: Neo dies in the end. Lets not emulate that.
209  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Senator Charles Schumer Pushes to Shut Down Online Drug Marketplace on: June 06, 2011, 04:24:43 AM
Agreed. Letters to your representative are as effective as protests in that they are completely ignorable. Lobbyists are effective because they are physically present, shaking hands. You want him to understand you should speak to him directly.
210  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Deepbit Approaching 50% Once Again on: June 06, 2011, 04:20:47 AM
Tycho EARNED every percentage point deepbit gets with his hard work. If you don't like that he is approaching half the network, make your own pool to compete with his. The reason he has what he has is because of the feature his pool offers and his dedication to the stability of his pool. It is simply the best pool. Everyone hates people that do things they can't do.

Which is more likely, we get rid of them or they get rid of us? If we self police we will have the time to become the new rich and powerful. If we condone illegal activity then we are the bugs, not the exterminators.

I don't have a slightest doubt that they are the thing of the past. It's just a matter of time now
I think you are greatly underestimating Bitcoin and it's potential

Oh I'm not underestimating bitcoin. We need time to realize that potential though. We are in our infancy and still very vulnerable.
212  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Senator Charles Schumer Pushes to Shut Down Online Drug Marketplace on: June 06, 2011, 03:57:11 AM
I actually agree that drugs should be legal and one should be allowed to ingest anything they please. But what should and shouldn't be has little to do with what IS and ISN'T. Drug trafficking IS illegal in the united states. This rich and powerful man now sees drugs and bitcoins as indivisible and mining and trading bitcoins as a criminal offense. He is actively trying to convince his rich and powerful friends of the same directly because of silk road. Silk road is a thread to the bitcoin network and I personally want to see it exterminated.

How about focusing on exterminating these rich and powerful people?

Good. This should be shut down. And if bitcoins value drops one penny we should all sue the owner of the silk road. Bitcoin is to young and to small to be associated with this sort of thing. I hope he is imprisoned and bankrupt simultaneously.
215  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: dual 5970 system vs. dual 6990 system results on: June 06, 2011, 02:50:36 AM
this is an old thread from before the miners had BFI_INT. no idea why anyone resurrected it.

tycho, just perma-block any ip's coming from russia or china and be done with it. that will stop a DDOS.
