i got the feeling that the chinese guys have some kind of parallel-gamble running, they´re volume is just not dropping.
maybe they are sitting around a table in some market in beijing and playing cards with bitcoin instead of money or some domino or wth

206  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 14, 2013, 06:09:12 PM
why so complicated?

new buyers came into the market because of the recent press coverage, it rocketed a while. now that the newbies are done, the sells begin. next hype will come earlier than the last because this time no one was was frightened by a sharp drop this time.

so lets wait for some more news like "hot dog stand in washington accepts bitcoins" and the next rally begins Smiley
207  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 14, 2013, 03:50:24 PM
i´m going long on every upward movement, going short for the corrections i did not try, as already getting in with the long positions is a pain in the ass with this low volume low frequency
208  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 14, 2013, 12:15:05 PM
btw found out that there is a bitfinex chart on bitcoinwisdom

http://bitcoinwisdom.com/markets/bitfinex/btcusd

yesterday bitfinex detached from bitstamp price several times and went higher than bitstamp

209  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: bitfinex questions on: November 07, 2013, 05:37:34 PM
hy!
yesterday i switched my leverage options to a margin of 4:1.
Today the option has gone, only 2:1 is available.

ist the available margin dynamically altered according to some market parameters?
thx
210  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bitfinex Api - "must specify a request field.." on: November 02, 2013, 10:51:57 PM
thx!  helped Smiley

changed nonce too, code now works:

Code:
	url = 'https://api.bitfinex.com/v1/balances'
payloadObject = {
'request':'/v1/balances',
'nonce':str(long(time.time() * 100000)),
'options':{}
}
payload_json = json.dumps(payloadObject)
#print payload_json
payload = str(base64.b64encode(payload_json))
#print payload
api_secret="..."
api_key=".."
m=hmac.new(api_secret, payload, hashlib.sha384)
signature=m.hexdigest()
print signature
headers = {
'X-BFX-APIKEY' : api_key,
'X-BFX-PAYLOAD' : base64.b64encode(payload_json),
'X-BFX-SIGNATURE' : signature
}
r = requests.get(url, data={}, headers=headers)
print 'Response Code: ' + str(r.status_code)
print 'Response Header: ' + str(r.headers)
print 'Response Content: '+ str(r.content)

211  Economy / Trading Discussion / Bitfinex Api - "must specify a request field.." on: November 02, 2013, 07:52:45 PM
Hy,

When making authenticated calls to the bitfinex api  (orders, balances) i get this message:

Code:
Response Content: {"message":"Must specify a 'request' field in the payload that
 matches the URL path."}

Whats that about?Huh

The examples I tried (Python):
https://community.bitfinex.com/showwiki.php?title=Sample+API+Code
https://gist.github.com/jordanbaucke/5812039

Code:
	url = 'https://bitfinex.com/api/v1/balances'
payloadObject = {
'request':'/api/v1/balances',
'nonce':time.time(),
'options':{}
}
payload_json = json.dumps(payloadObject)
#print payload_json
payload = str(base64.b64encode(payload_json))
#print payload
api_secret="..."
api_key="..."
m=hmac.new(api_secret, payload, hashlib.sha384)
signature=m.hexdigest()
print signature
headers = {
'X-BFX-APIKEY' : api_key,
'X-BFX-PAYLOAD' : base64.b64encode(payload_json),
'X-BFX-SIGNATURE' : signature
}
r = requests.get(url, data={}, headers=headers)
print 'Response Code: ' + str(r.status_code)
print 'Response Header: ' + str(r.headers)
print 'Response Content: '+ str(r.content)

yeah, that was fun. think the party is over for today, going into sideways, what ya mean?
214  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: bitfinex questions on: October 19, 2013, 11:12:47 AM
I use bitfinex since months, so far it was reliable, btc/ltc withdrawals always where executed in the next hours after withdrawal requests. so far, i like it and trust it so much that 1/3 of my btc is in there. if bitfinex was more transparent in terms of clarity of the functions, i think it could be a huge platform - if you can trade leveraged, there is no sense in trading unleveraged unless youre a whale imho. in terms of registration/licensing as a financial service i have strong doubts if there is any registration pending...

Some points that I would like to discuss:

-I didnt yet manage to get access to the bitfinex forum (no invite code..). Mail to the site operator wasnt answered. Documentation is dismal - there are articles on the wiki, faq entries and some forum posts that you can google. every one of it contains only peaces of the whole explanation. for example the function of margin trade is not explained in a single article.

-When you go short using your tradable balance, right after the order was filled, it shows a huge positive p/l for some time until the p/l is adjusted to the market price. if you close that position during that time youre fucked.

-there sometimes is a lag between bitstamp prices shown on bitcoinwisdom and those on bitfinex. right now i.e. bitfinex shows 166,67, bitstamp just dropped to 165,15. some peaks/bottoms are not tradeable that way.

-I find it impossible to estimate costs of a trade beforehand, so my calculation before doing a trade is merely guessing..
What I do is i.e. if i go long i calculate the difference of the USD amount in the wallet to the amount before the trade, so i approximately know how much positive p/l i need to close the position at 0...

-I dont get why bitfinex-price and bitstamp-price is mixed in the order book. many times there is a good bitstamp-price, but a not so good bitfinex price in front of it, so the trade i want to make is blocked. many times one has to wait for the bitfinex orders to be filled to get the bitstamp price - i wonder if its just showing the order amount of bitfinex traders that acutally want the bitstamp price?

-I think p/l and order book is out of sync. after the order book refreshes the calculation of p/l is only done some time after that. so you get the p/l of the last order book refresh or so

-sometimes when closing an open position (button "close all") on the margin-trade-page, the site reloads into the exchange-page. beware not to press buy or sell right after that reload Wink

-no bitfinex-price-charts - as there are no bitfinex-price charts, including bitfinex prices in the margin trade is completely senseless to me - i want to trade bitstamp only

-trailing-stop <1.5 price distance doesnt seem to work. if i enter a distance <1.5 the actual distance is anything but what i entered

-history is awful to calculate your gains/losses- there are three rows of +/- sums on USD and BTC and besides from just comparing wallets before/after a trade i cant caluculate anything with this reliably as it doesnt show WHY that position is noted (short,long etc). maybe its that i just hate book-keeping-way of doing calculations. also its useles as csv as everything is mixed up, you cant just sum up one table to know your overall gain/loss.

-the new interface (bitfinex.com) seems not to have a link to the history as on classic.bitfinex.com ?

-route order/hide order - no idea what that really means..

-on the margin trade page there is an order book. ok with that. below that there is a field "aks" with a triangle and a price and another field "Bid" with a triangle. Both showing a price. most of the time this price has nothing to do with the order book, so whats that about?

-"Your indicative rate" is shown as rate/365, on the lending page the rate is shown as rate per 365 days - not useful at all.

-what i would very much like to have is a function "trailing stop that decreases distance as long as p/l is growing". so one could enter a position with a trailing stop of i.e. 3. and as soon as the p/l grows, the distance gets decreased bit by bit, reaching zero, if a certain price is reached, though mutating the trailing stop into a stop limit. what do you think?

-if you see a price in bitstamp always wait for the next order-book refresh on bitfinex, its not really in sync, so if you make an order and if during the time until the order is placed, the order book refreshes you of course get the new price (or depending on order amount of course).

-comma is displayed as dot - ok, but would be nice to have a comma be a comma (maybe as an option: "european style values" ..) maybe its because values are calculated as float Wink (definitely values are rounded in some tables and not rounded in others, quite annoying sometimes)

so long

217  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Headless Windows Miner - boot trouble.. on: July 28, 2013, 08:50:25 AM
Hy!
I got a intel-g41 motherboard with a radeon hd7800 set up with win7-64bit using cgminer to mine ltc. the machine is administered with vnc. i want to put it away without monitor. so far so good.

but when i boot the pc without a monitor connected, windows someway chooses a cheesy display port - vnc shows a black screen and no mining goes on.

does anyone know how to boot this setup without a monitor connected?

btw: dont use radeon hd 7800 for mining with older mainboards, its a very picky card, i.e. computer doesnt boot with 1333fsb set, graphics card doesnt properly initialize without hdmi cable connected and some other things, its just the bios checks that dont pass, windows always works fine, but to get booted this card really needs fiddling with the bios setup. i guess its not properly telling the bios what it needs and wants, its just crap..
218  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: BitcoinWisdom.com - Live Bitcoin/LiteCoin Charts on: July 16, 2013, 01:36:30 PM
hy
thx for the service, its great!
could you implement that candles fill the vertical space? for example i watch bitstamp 5 min and only 1/3 of the vertical space is filled.
imho visibility of spikes would be better if the space would be used
thx

220  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Jurisdiction for an exchange on: July 03, 2013, 07:06:39 AM
europe has sepa, so a huge base of potential customers who can wire fast and cheap (from february 2014). but regulations are hard to meet. imho you would need to register as kind of a banking service, which demands i.e. some 100k-€ as business funds, as any businesses that hold fiat for customers (trading acount) are strictly regulated. regulations are harmonized across europe, so standards are pretty much the same, maybe some "new" members of the EU have less stricter regulations, such as rumania, croatia etc.
holding fiat from customers without appropriate license is a big no go in europe, that is one cause bitcoin24 has troubles, and why the other bitcoin exchange in germany doesnt provide an online market but acts just as a board of offline bids and asks.

see brokerage service provider and see which regulation they meet:

"§ 1 Abs. 1a Satz 2 Nr.1, 1a sowie 1c KWG (Anlagevermittlung, Anlageberatung sowie Platzierungsgeschäft) und Nr.2 (Abschlussvermittlung) zugelassen (BaFin Nr. 127518)";
