Banks continue to freeze the accounts due to their binding to bitcoin

It would seem that already in 2016 – a year of steady ascent of bitcoin, its recognition around the world, in some countries, and at the state level, the problems with its adoption should arise. However, as practice shows, banks freeze accounts of owners without adequate explanation is not the first time.
A couple of years ago, banks have frozen the accounts of the cryptocurrency community in Poland. In the fall of 2015 accounts, more than ten of the Australian stock exchanges were closed by the banks without adequate explanation, and in October 2016 in Britain, Barclays Bank without explanation and preliminary comments froze the accounts of the online magazine Coinjournal, which is dedicated to the cryptocurrency. On the same Bank, complaints were received in the transaction associated with cryptocurrency. In the spring of 2016, the Bank entered into a contract with Circle. The application was started, to perform a transaction, converting sterling into the cryptocurrency.

Nov. 22-25, the first ever Blockchain Summer School will be opened in Harare, Zimbabwe.

The event intends to educate and explore the benefits of Bitcoin as well as stimulating discussions on the challenges that inhibit cryptocurrency adoption in Africa.

The event is organized by Bitfinance, a Zimbabwe-based Bitcoin exchange and infrastructure developer firm in collaboration with the Blockchain Academy. The target audience are local businesses that have been hit hardest by the current financial crisis in Zimbabwe.

Are Zimbabwe bond notes a scam?

According to Ken Yamamoto, the latest form of currency to strike Africa’s borders is nothing more than a corrupt scheme; a frivolous attempt to steal funds from impoverished families and place them in greedy pairs of government hands. Yamamoto writes:

“The people scamming you are not Robin Hoods, who stole from the rich to give to the poor. They are gluttonous perennial grabbers fattening their pockets knowing in your fear you can’t do anything.”

For the most part, Africa has been a mixed bag for currency innovation. On one hand, companies like Mint have joined with the Banque Regionale de Marches (BRM) to offer a new form of digital currency called eCFA to West African regions. Blockchain startup Custos Media Technologies has begun an anti-piracy campaign using bitcoin, and Bidorbuy (Africa’s equivalent of eBay) has begun accepting bitcoin payments.

Fraudster Completes P2P Bitcoin Trade Worth 400,000 Euro With 99% Counterfeit Bills
About a week ago, two Belarusians Bitcoin users were scammed for nearly 400,000 euros. FBI releases DarkNet marketplace primer, notes bitcoin use for illicit purchases

The U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) released a primer on DarkNet marketplaces earlier this month, following Operation Hyperion.

The FBI joined other U.S. law enforcement agencies for Operation Hyperion – a successful international action aimed at disrupting the operations and infrastructure of illicit DarkNet marketplaces. During the initiative, FBI agents made contact with over 150 individuals around the country suspected of purchasing illicit items from various DarkNet marketplaces.

Researchers have found ways to map each bitcoin transaction, taking away the blanket of anonymity

Bengaluru: Since Tuesday night, as digital payments providers registered spikes in transaction from consumers, bitcoin providers in India saw a spike of a different kind—calls from people wanting to turn in cash for bitcoins.

However, the callers were left disappointed when the firms told them that to buy bitcoins they would require to give their bank account details and undergo a know-your-customer (KYC) process.

القبض على محتال عملة البيتكوين في دبي!



ضبطت شرطة دبي أول جريمة احتيال بالعملة الافتراضية “بيتكوين”، ضحيتها ثلاثة شباب خليجيين يمارسون نشاطا تجاريا عبر الإنترنت، بعد أن استولى شخص آسيوي منهم على عملة افتراضية تبلغ قيمتها 375 ألف درهم، قال إنه أنفقها خلال شهر واحد.

وقال القائد العام لشرطة دبي الفريق خميس مطر المزينة لصحيفة في تصريحات لصحيفة الإمارات اليوم “حداثة هذا النوع من الاحتيال استدعت جهدا وافرا من قبل ضباط المباحث الإلكترونية”.

معقبا “المتهم لم يترك دليلا وراءه، فقد استخدم شريحة هاتف باسم شخص غادر الدولة، وتخلص من الهاتف الذي كان يتواصل به مع الضحايا، ما استدعى إعداد كمين إلكتروني محكم، واستدراجه إلى عملية احتيال أخرى، وضبطه”  .

وذكر مساعد القائد العام لشؤون البحث الجنائي، اللواء خليل إبراهيم المنصوري، أن عملية البحث الإلكتروني في هذه الواقعة كشفت حقائق مهمة حول المواقع التي يتم فيها تداول العملة الافتراضية داخل الدولة، إذ تبين أنها غير مرخصة، وتمثل واجهة لمحتالين ومجرمين إلكترونيين.

وكان قد ورد بلاغ إلى إدارة مكافحة الجرائم الإلكترونية من ثلاثة شباب خليجيين، أفادوا بأنهم يمارسون التجارة والاستثمار مع شركة أوروبية موجودة خارج الدولة، وأن الشركة أبلغتهم بأن أرباحهم وصلت إلى 375 ألف درهم، وطلبت منهم تحديد طريقة لتحويل المبلغ إليهم.

وأضاف أن أحد الشباب شاهد إعلانا عن “العملة الافتراضية” فأغرته الفكرة، وقرر هو وأصدقاؤه استثمار مبلغ الربح فيها، فطلبوا من الشركة التي يتعاملون معها تحويل المبلغ إلى عملة افتراضية. وقد صنعت لهم حسابا لدى إحدى الجهات المزودة لهذه العملة، وحولت إلى حسابهم 177 “بيتكوين”، ما يساوي 375 ألف درهم، لأن العملة الافتراضية الواحدة كانت تقدر حين تمت الصفقة بنحو 2120 درهما.

وأشار المزينة إلى أن الشباب الثلاثة عرضوا أموالهم الافتراضية على مواقع إلكترونية مخصصة لتداول هذه العملة، فرصدهم المتهم، وبدأ بدراستهم، ثم تواصل معهم عبر أحد تطبيقات الدردشة، وعرض عليهم شراء ما لديهم من “بيتكوين” بمبلغ أعلى من السعر المتداول عالميا، ووافقوا على العرض.

وأوضح أن “المتهم تصرف بدهاء بالغ، إذ أعد لنفسه حسابا وهميا على موقع إنستجرام، وزيف عددا كبيرا من الصور حتى يظهر لهم رجل أعمال بالغ الثراء، يملك سيارات وساعات فارهة، ويتجول في مختلف دول العالم لحضور اجتماعات”، لافتا إلى أن فحص محتوى الحساب كشف أنه تلاعب بهذه الصور تقنيا بواسطة (فوتوشوب)، وأنه مجرد عاطل عن العمل.

واتفق الشباب الثلاثة مع المتهم على موعد نهائي لإتمام الصفقة في أحد الفنادق، لكنه تأخر عليهم، وحين اتصلوا به، ادعى أنه زحمة السير تعيقه، وطلب منهم إرسال اسم المستخدم وكلمة السر إلى حسابهم على تطبيق تداول (العملة الافتراضية) حتى يكسب وقتا، فأرسلوا له البيانات السرية بحسن نية، وخلال دقائق حول رصيدهم من عملة بيتكوين إلى حسابين باسمه، ثم أغلق هاتفه.

واستمرت ملاحقة المتهم قرابة الشهر، حتى قبضت عليه السلطات في كمين لم يستطع المتهم مقاومة مغرياته، فحضر في الموعد المحدد، وحين توجه إلى الضابط فوجئ بأنه تحول من صياد إلى فريسة.

Former Estonian President to Lead World Economic Forum Blockchain Group

The World Economic Forum has created a new working group focused on blockchain co-chaired by the former president of Estonia.

The Global Futures Council on Blockchain Technology will meet for the first time later this week during an event in Dubai. The group's focus will largely center on the development of "governance models" related to blockchain, according to the WEF.

Toomas Hendrik Ilves, who served as president of Estonia for 10 years before leaving office in October, will serve as co-chair alongside Jamie Smith, chief communications and marketing officer for bitcoin mining firm BitFury and a former official in the Obama White House.

وارتفعت قيمة العملة الرقمية خلال التعاملات بنسبة 4.75% إلى 736.5 دولارا. وأشارت تقارير إلى أن أغلب التعاملات التي جرت على "بيتكوين"، اليوم، تمت بالدولار، مما يشير إلى أن مخاوف المستثمرين في الولايات المتحدة كانت وراء هذا الارتفاع.
