2001  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Goldman Sachs are eyeing to create their own digital asset! on: August 07, 2020, 05:27:19 PM
I wonder if these executions will be a threat to our precious BTCitcoin.

Not the least. At the end of the day, everything boils down to features.
Well it could be but there are less likely for it to have an impact to bitcoin coz it seems that bitcoin is unaffected by any events unless it is related to it like halving.

First and foremost, as being mentioned, it might just be another stablecoin pegged on the USD. Secondly, it is a coin by Goldman Sachs which means it is centralized because it is owned by the powerful bank. Therefore, even if it uses the blockchain technology it is most likely just another fiat token built on a centralized blockchain.
That is what probably is coming, if they are going to create an asset it will be a safe one, a less volatile or a stable one at least. I think they are going with digital assets because this is what most of the people are looking for, convenient and accessible just like any cryptocurrency, just register, deposit and buy, that's all it takes for a digital asset. This isn't a huge threat for bitcoin unless it will become tradeable in the market perhaps it won't.
2002  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Las Vegas Casinos Scared of Lawsuits on: August 07, 2020, 03:37:11 PM

They still didn't realize they have helped the number of deaths to increase because of opening the casinos in their area. But instead of taking responsibility and do the right thing, they plead to exclude them from lawsuits. How convenient is this for them?
This is just a conlcusion of yours, I supposed. Coz we don't really know if there are people who have fetched the virus in their area, though the chances are high since virus can live in surfaces up to hours but still we can't just be this assumable. If they are following strict protocols, such as individual medication, any proof of quarantined days that they have gone by then they could be inside the casino, on top of the protective gears that they will require for each and every one. It is a both end responsibility after all, if you wanted to play but is feeling sick why would you push yourself for doing so?

Its time for them to face the consequences of their action but even this they are trying to get away while during the pandemic they are trying to keep earning while the rest are mourning. Good job mayor.
yeah if it is proven that they contributed to the number, they could be possibly shut down but not really a lawsuit, no one wants that to happen, all they want is a source of tax.
2003  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Forecast John McAfee $500,000 on: August 07, 2020, 02:47:34 PM
No need to reopen this topic again, this was a history of a man who called to eat his own D to the national television, who will do that for the money? NONE. We know the agenda of this man few years ago, he is trying to spread some hype so he can get us. John McAfee is not as fool as you think guys, he's maybe a criminal at some point but I still see him as a man who made a huge contribution to the technology with his software, A man with a million dollar net worth. $500,000 is a huge estimation for the price but who knows? maybe we'll see it one day.
2004  Other / Meta / Re: Is this considered a death threat? on: August 06, 2020, 08:44:31 PM
No, I wouldn't consider that a death threat at all, regardless of the member's previous history of alleged death threats.  It sounds like it could just be that the meaning of "burn you" got lost in the translation--I seriously doubt this is a threat to literally kill you by setting you on fire.  In the US if you tell someone you're going to burn them, you're basically telling them that you're going to beat them in whatever activity is taking place.
Yeah considering death threats has to do with the ability of him to do such thing, for example if a kid says I'll kill you to a 30yr old man that can't be considered as a threat it would be foolish for a mam to file a case against the kid because of that, this same goes to a random people in the internet. And I agree it also has to do with the language jargons.

I haven't seen many true death threats being made on bitcointalk, and most of the ones that were questionable have been because English isn't the member's first language, and a simple expression of anger can come off sounding like an actual threat.  That's my take on this, anyway.
On a section like economics, bitcoin discussion or any crypto related discussion it is really vague to have an offensive runs to the thread unless being taken personally.
2005  Local / Others (Pilipinas) / Re: Online transactions and house bill #6765 on: August 06, 2020, 07:35:13 PM

2006  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Las Vegas Casinos Scared of Lawsuits on: August 06, 2020, 06:34:59 PM
The countries which has contained better the virus have used strict protocol measures to keep the virus from spreading. This countries beside following the guidelines they also imposed people even in building elevators to wear masks otherwise they would not let people without masks use the elevators.
FACT CHECK - There are countries that imposed a very strict lockdown during the early stage of the pandemic, around March they already implemented a total lockdown, citizens are just on their home, market is the one that is doing the door to door for the people and it resulted to slow down and better containing of the virus. What did the Las Vegas did is that they opened the casinos because that is the heart of their economy, maybe their mayor have already experiencing a dilemma between the store owners, and so she did open it. But if there are heavily followed protocols there wouldn't be much of an infection, besides it is not only the casino who needs to follow, the people should too.

The casinos who want to be spared from being filed against should offer the maximum hygiene possible in their place and also follow strict rules and protocols. They can use their cameras to fight back against any file petition against them when they are sure they have done everything needed by the government.
If that's the case it is better to close them again, if there happens to be a single infection in any casino, they should be closed as soon as possible and the staff should be quaratined.
2007  Economy / Economics / Re: Since jobs are unlikely to return, Do u think there will be a 3rd $1200 stimulus on: August 06, 2020, 05:33:24 PM
I understand why you think that jobs won't return in the USA considering the fact that unemployment rates have risen to an all time high thanks to the Corona and the job situation was already pretty bad pre-COVID, but all of that could change if Biden becomes the President.
If we are going to rank countries on who is the most hit by the virus it will be the America upon looking on their statistics there are millions of them that has the corona virus. Unemployment is rising, and they can't just get to the normal with the number of active cases that they have. And there will be more likely to have a last batch of this stimulus check, they gotta do what they gotta do.

Trump is doing a lousy job currently and am not expecting much from him in the future which is why Biden could turn things around.
How do you say so? I'm not pro-trump or whatsoever but I guess they are all trying in this time of pandemic, he still got a family to keep safe.
2008  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Has anyone seen this website before? on: August 06, 2020, 05:01:23 PM
Clound mining companies are scam, there are only a few popular clound mining sites that you can trusts and frankly speaking that website is a pure shit and scam. Aside that's too good to be true for an investment, If cloud mining is that profitable why will they need you for investment? If you are interested in mining bitcoins, you could have just build your own mining gear but I'm telling you it will be expensive as ever, you'll be needing an updated tools for mining and the competition is very high, this is why some old miners are switching from bitcoin to its forks and other cryptocurrencies that has a low competition and low reward.
2009  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Slots are better than Dice. on: August 05, 2020, 09:32:02 PM
They don't keep their patience. Once they start losing money, they become more desperate and invest more and then again face another loss.  This continues unless they spend all of their money in gambling. I really feel sorry for those who take gambling so seriously and are addicted to it.

Here on the forum, many people write that there are people who regularly manage to earn money on gambling. It would be interesting to hear their secrets about how they manage to remain patient with frequent/big losses.
Usually those users here saying that they will be able to manage themselves when they gamble are not originally all of them are gamblers. Others are just mimicking that they are really do in gambling and just wanted to particilate in the discussion. Many of the users here like that so there is no surprise to read a comment like that.
Well yes maybe some people in here are not really gamblers, but the others are aspiring ones, they visited this section to try and hear out the other gamblers on what to do in early stage of being it. Maybe we should also think that the discussion on gambling isn't just for those who are already gamblers, but that is also true some people are just posting here for the sake of their campaign requirements.

Anyway, gambler or not could still contribute a lot in participating discussions. Thus somehow broaden the minds of gambler when they do gambling.
This is a forum so why not, on the bright side the more we interact to this section the more we know what is going on to the mind of others, still an add to us.
2010  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are there any successful and relatively new casinos? on: August 05, 2020, 08:45:16 PM
The only thing that will make the gamblers stay at a casino is the benefits so they will stay for longer. That's how popular casino is doing, they are constantly giving the users or gamblers a lot of benefits, that's why they're choosing to stay there. But it's kinda difficult because it's a hard competition, there are many casinos too that can also give those kinds of benefits.
[/quote] They are getting benefits the more they stay in the casino, this is what I noticed with the casino these days, they are taking care of their clients high or low rollers, each has a benefit side from the casino unline before, and I guess they start doing this because of the competition that we have between houses. Indeed, competition these days are high because of the number of casino, people will look for the most beneficial and convenient one. I would not be surprise if there's a casino that will give free money just for registration to test out their platform.

So obviously, the peoples desire is the casino's priority so they can accumulate a lot of users to their platform.
Add the integrity of the system, if they can manage to hold a huge number of players at the same time without having a system error or any error at the user-end, then they are bagging a lot of client. Good service = happy customers.
2011  Local / Pamilihan / Re: Businesses in Manila accepting crypto as payment (hotels groceries, cars, houses on: August 05, 2020, 08:07:20 PM

I, myself has a plan also in opening a business which includes crypto payments but then wala pa kong idea kung magkano ang gagastusin sa kabuuan and gusto ko kasi sarili ko lahat, property, store, equipment and materials para mas matibay yung pundasyon ng business.

2012  Other / Meta / Re: Protecting Your Account on: August 05, 2020, 07:16:52 PM
Now the question. If I have a very good password in my mail that is difficult to crack, and I have 2FA, if I log in from another IP, I receive SMS notifications, isn't that enough? And also the mail that is tied to the forum is not used anywhere else.
Yeah I guess having 2FA is enough for more of a security to your email, even me I use this, it sends me a notification every time I'm logging in, trying to change my password, detect unknown devices and has my 8 number code offline security. I guess this is enough for protecting your email. The email I used to this forum is protected also, it has a different sim card in my drawer for 2FA  Cheesy
2013  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin might never reach it's ATH anymore on: August 05, 2020, 05:56:11 PM
You sound very pessimistic we cannot control how people treat Cryptocurrency and Bitcoin, they have motivation on that, and by the way Bitcoin all-time high was almost $20000, and the current price is $11400 as I'm posting this, not really that far and still attainable, as we are only two months after the halving and four away before the end of 2020, there could be another all time high before the end of the year.
Pessimistic as it sounds but that's a natural call because it is his speculation, "you cannot control how people treat cryptocurrency", you just said it so I guess whatever it sounds to you, you just need to walk pass on it. Bitcoin has been showing good movement from the past weeks, though we got a quite pullback from the price I still believe that we are going to get  $13000 mark before this month ends. Talking about the ATH, if we are going to reach that far it will be a very different one, not a single click boom from what we have seen last 2017. Dramatically different as they say, but it's possible still.
2014  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 900,000 illegal bitcoins. on: August 05, 2020, 03:42:04 PM
These are definitely interesting numbers, but it certainly doesn't come as any surprise to me that the numbers are this high.  I would love to see the numbers for fiat currency, they would be so far beyond these numbers it's not even funny. I think it's important people keep that in mind.

And for fiat currency, such figures would not be comparable.
Indeed, for the long time that we are using fiat currency there are countless times that fiat is used for such illegal activities making it incomparable to the bitcoin itself. And these figure is actually low than what I expected for the bitcoin, everytime I think of it I actually see the transaction in the network as illegal, like buying a gun online etc.

In addition, these numbers do not seem to me too high, less than 5% of BTC are conditionally illegal, and the fact that this can be tracked is certainly much greater advantage than the fact that they are "problematic".
But then again 5% of is a lot when converted, I'm curious what these bitcoins are used to buy since I do have an idea how dark it is in the darkweb. It is not surprising at all that a privacy coin like bitcoin would be used for these activities, I mean who's criminal online that would want to be publicly seen, no one.

They are putting you in the middle, you are off guard when you accept that job, you didn't know who you are working for. This also goes the same as those people who are hiring people with fully verified paypal and can receive a huge amount of money, though their reason is just to hide their identity, the total identity exposed is yours. You don't want the police knocking at your door right? better be thinking right about that.

@jackg was right, IDs can be easily fake without scanning it personally, photoshop software is really good on editing. Don't be fooled.

2017  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Fortnite Betting? on: August 04, 2020, 05:00:50 PM
I thought fortnite was dead community and considering i haven't heard of it from social media or youtube channels considering im avid gamer myself, i even thought that it might become popular as PUBG, COD or CyberHunter, but still i dont get ads about it in social media platforms or recommendations in youtube channels. It will be arguable to be added in popular gambling sites in my opinion.
I've thought of it too, before the youtube is bombarded with a lot of fortnite advertisement, everyone is sick watching it with a skip button and now I thought the game was already dead but it struck me that they are big enough not to buy any advertisement from any one, that's how huge the community of fortnite is. They got million of player, I think they have more players than Apex Legends but not with COD. Monthly active players, 800K seems okay better than being a dead game. Anyways it already got into the pro scene, there were lots of tournament with fortnite and betting isn't closing its doors for fortnite.
2018  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What bitcoin adoption really is. on: August 04, 2020, 04:12:06 PM
Bitcoin adoption is all about the increase in the usage of bitcoin on daily life same as that we use the traditional currency at present. As of now through the word of mouth spreading bitcoin has now reached a higher level of acceptance.
I thought of it too, but it is clear to me now that bitcoin is heading to be an alternative investment and trading material with its volatility and ability to go up and down through speculation. I dreamed that we will use bitcoin in the future to spend just like a fiat currency but that ain't happening 90% of the chance. As you notice now, many government are creating their own digital currency to solve the convenient that most of the people wants to have. Bitcoin adoption isn't really a currency adoption I guess.

Years back people weren't aware of such a technology based development, but things have changed and more and more newcomers can be seen using bitcoin. This is the real growth.
There is a growth indeed, but the growth is not into the one we thought of a few years back. But still who would know the future ahead of us? just a maybe.
2019  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do you miss in block explorers on: August 04, 2020, 12:54:04 PM
By doing so I can hide the actual transaction I am interested in among a bunch of others I don't care about, so the block explorer cannot link my browser session to a specific transaction.
I find it really a smart idea, privacy after privacy this is what a block explorer should be, less click equals less links. I guess we should have an explorer that will require just only the time frame when the transaction was made, I think it will be better since every transaction has its timestamp.

And dark mode. Every website in existence should have dark mode.
Yeaaaah dark mode is 1000x better than having a plain white, even my facebook and twitter app is in dark mode, and my phone theme is dark, I don't know I find dark theme more stylish and relaxing.
2020  Other / Meta / Re: Protecting Your Account on: August 03, 2020, 08:29:15 PM
Please, I can’t stress this enough, please make sure the email address set to your account is private.

You may have seen what happened to BitcoinGirl.Club here - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5266437.0
This is what I am understanding.

Yesterday evening after the poker game, I was doing my usual work. At some point, I was going to check my sportsbet T-shirt update. I was looking for the email sportsbet sent so that I get the link to fill up the form. I saw three emails. One already read. The two new with the update of they are running out of the t-shirts. So I opened one of the email, checked the link and it was taking too long time to load the page. When it was annoyingly late, I closed the tab but my system seemed unexpectedly slow. It happens sometimes and I usually force close the system and restart. I did the same and then started my usual work. When I wanted to  login in few of my accounts it always asked me for passwords. Nothing flagged me though. I did not had any 2nd thought. When it was late I gone to bed. Today morning when I wanted to login to bitcointalk discovered everything. Before everything else I knew I had to reset my device which I did.

Now I do not have access of the email. All the accounts, exchanges, business, social media, gambling sites everything that had the email are fucked up. I am contacting each of the sites to help me changing the email addresses. I am going through a lot now. In some accounts I have money locked. This will not be a very easy ride for me. Everything fucked!!!

I do not deserve it. Thanks whoever you are.

I believe the hacker discovered his email address simply by clicking on his profile & discovering the email there & the rest is history.

If you haven’t already then follow these steps to make your email address hidden -

- Click Profile at the top of your browser
- Under Modify Profile on the left click Account Related Settings
- Make sure the circled box is ticked (example email address is not mine)

Safe surfing & fuck hackers!
Oh man that was really a fucked up situation, imagine getting out of bed in the morning just to know that everything you own is gone tf. I would probably cry like a baby if that happens to me mygoodness.

This is why I'm using some alternative email addresses and I got a copy of them in an offline excel sheet, just making sure that no one else can touch it, I recommend doing this especially if you have many accounts on different website and platforms.

Follow the steps on how to hide you email address in the forum, everyone is a target
