2001  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: How about decentralized community blockchain marketplaces without escrow? on: July 24, 2023, 03:41:36 PM
The marketplace operator would have to first allow the marketplace user seller privileges before they would be able to sell. There could be some rules set in place such as the user must have a certain amount of positive feedback before they would be able to sell.
But if no one is allowed to sell and can only buy in the beginning, who will be creating the sell orders? Will you have a whitelisted team of sellers that you personally select and give them selling privileges as soon as they register? Seems a bit unfair to be honest.

Both Ebay and Amazon never used an escrow service that made sellers wait to receive payment for the items they sold and shipped. Not using an escrow seemed to have worked out well for them.
Yes, but they have buyer protection. I will get my money back if you ship bogus items and provide services that don't work as advertised.
2002  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [Blacklist] of unreliable, 'taint proclaiming' Bitcoin services / exchanges on: July 23, 2023, 04:20:17 PM
<Snip>
I thought Wasabi and their coordinator were the only "privacy-focused" (yeah right) service that had blacklisting and restrictions like that, and now we can add Thormixer to that list. Why do I have the feeling that this is going to become a norm in the future? So-called selective privacy if we believe you deserve it, but we will never tell you why you don't deserve it, and will update our rules as time goes by.
2003  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: List of VPN Service Providers - 2023 on: July 23, 2023, 04:00:42 PM
Because of the nature of my work (I am not telling you anything about it Tongue), my company requires that I use VPNs for certain activities. I use one that is tagged here as being privacy-focused and cheap - Windscribe. The second one that my boss provides is Surfshark, which is non-privacy focused according to the OP. I am very satisfied with both, and they get the job done. Windscribe is my main VPN, though, and seems faster. Surfshark offers servers from more countries.
2004  Economy / Reputation / Re: deadsea33 questionable merit history on: July 23, 2023, 12:01:34 PM
Personally, I think that Merit shouldn't be given that way. Just what's the point? Will someone's post quality improve by playing that game? I think that just gives spammers the possibility to rank up and there is a bright example in front of us how someone used that moment wisely but failed.
Everything can be abused if not run or moderated properly. There should be some rules that mitigate the possibility of abuse.

When I started my game, I thought it would be something fun for the beginners. An activity everyone could participate in, guess a few terms, and earn merits if done correctly. I wasn't wrong. You need some knowledge to guess crypto-related words, but there are, of course, ways to cheat. Especially now. Personally, I see no problem in organizing such events. It's those who abuse it by selling merits or meriting their own alts that destroy everything.
2005  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: How about decentralized community blockchain marketplaces without escrow? on: July 23, 2023, 11:31:15 AM
An escrow does not necessarily have to be a real person checking in on both parties to ensure that a deal goes smoothly. It can be a smart contract or any other means of ensuring that both parties which are involved in the trade get what they bargained for out of it.
OP wants a marketplace where the seller will be paid immediately, but that can't work. The buyer must confirm that the product or service they purchased is legitimate. That's going to take time, especially for physical goods that need to be shipped across towns and countries. Smart-contract enabled confirmation that the goods are legitimate aren't a problem. That can be built in. The waiting time needed to receive, test, and confirm everything is in perfect working order won't be reduced with automated escrow.
2006  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Payment processor hacked, more than $23M in crypto stolen on: July 23, 2023, 11:17:59 AM
I am sure that I have never seen anyone mention or recommend Alphapo in any discussions about crypto payment processors. I wonder if all the stolen coins belong to their clients or if it's a combination of client funds + their own profits. Another reason why custodian payment processors are dangerous, despite being simpler and more user-friendly.
2007  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Pregled Bitcointalk Signature-Ad kampanja on: July 23, 2023, 06:48:19 AM
2008  Other / Archival / Re: 🐱 [banned mixer] - The Cutest Bitcoin Mixer! on: July 22, 2023, 04:28:11 PM
I am curious about how you can possibly know that after using your mixer, all exchanges and centralized services that work with different chain analysis companies wouldn't classify the coins as "dirty", "tainted", etc.? These entities don't reveal their algorithms or what needs to happen for something to be "clean" or "dirty" (according to their definitions). Can you tell us more about this, and how have you tested the theory? Have you "purified" your coins and then sent them to various CEXs without any issues?
2009  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: TimechainStats.com - FREE BTC Resources - NO ADS on: July 22, 2023, 01:19:16 PM
This is really an information-rich source you have created here.
I have a question about one entry under the Network Security section. It's about Bitcoin dominance. You wrote: "Avoid this metric". I am just wondering why? If you don't find it useful, can't you remove the line altogether?

At the bottom of the page, you have the wallet section with suggestions for different types of wallets. Are those your personal suggestions or what is it?
It would be cool if you added Bitcointalk somewhere on your site. Maybe under the Resources tab.

This website deserves to be bookmarked!
2010  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: 🚀 🚀 BTC Mining w Digimint NFTs 🚀 🚀 New Project!!! on: July 22, 2023, 09:00:04 AM
How is the whitelisting going, how many people are intersted?
I checked out your website but couldn't find any information about how many S19 rigs you have. What's the total hash power?
There is a document in Russian so I can't understand the content. Did you purchase the rigs from Moscow or a Moscow-based company?
2011  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Travel to the Caribbean with BTC on: July 22, 2023, 07:39:34 AM
You could discuss in more details how the Bitcoin adoption is advancing on Roatan.

You could tell Bitcointalk what you can buy with Bitcoin and in what type of shops.
It would be interesting to know what's the price difference between purchasing with fiat vs crypto.
Additionally, what wallets are the most popular on the Island? Mobile, desktop, airgapped, hardware...?
Another interesting point of discussion would be how different generations are reacting to Bitcoin. Are the older and senior citizens using it at all, and how are they coping with it?

There is enough to create a brand-new thread or compile everything in this one.
Also, tell us more about the goals of Roatan Bitcoin Experience tour, and what you hope to achieve?
2012  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Customer Service Opportunity in the Crypto Space! Join our Growing Team! on: July 22, 2023, 07:09:55 AM
I wanted to suggest that you should post this in the services section, but I see that you already have an identical, slightly newer thread there as well.
I agree with the other users who want to know more about your company and its history. It's unusual that you are searching for professional and talented individuals who must be great at their job without providing more information about what you have done yourself.

You should probably tell us the name of your brand, and which projects you have worked with in the past (if any)? What kind of services did you render for them and what were the results?
2013  Economy / Reputation / Re: deadsea33 questionable merit history on: July 22, 2023, 06:54:09 AM
I remember his game because he tagged me and cygan in his opening post and that's how I got notified about it. We organized the exact same type of word games in the past.
I took part in round #1 of his guess the word game because there wasn't much activity in the thread at that time. I didn't want to take up the spots of other lower ranks in the later rounds.

It's sad that there could be an ulterior motive behind running this game for the community.
2014  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin addresses and UTXOs on: July 21, 2023, 04:45:06 PM
I have a noob question but if I reuse an address it will create a new utxo right ? So I will have two utxos in the same address ?
Think of your address as a physical wallet you carry your cash in. UTXOs are the paper bills you have in your wallet. Each bill is one UTXO. If you sell something and receive BTC in address #1, that's one UTXO. You receive your salary to the same address, UTXO #2. Your friend losses a bet and sends the amount to address #1 - UTXO #3. Reusing addresses isn't recommended, but I am just making a point.

UTXO, what does it mean?

It is Unspent outputs so if you have bitcoins in your wallet, you have UTXOs. Your wallet UTXO number will only become 0 if you have no bitcoin (no satoshi) in that wallet.
When you receive a first bitcoin transaction in your wallet, you have a first UTXO. Receive a second bitcoin transaction in your wallet, you have a second UTXO.
Let's not confused the OP by bringing wallets into the equation. I think OP is aware that transactions received in different addresses are separate UTXOs. His question was about how multiple transactions to the same address are to be called. As we have all said, it's the same thing - UTXOs.
2015  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Fake Transaction Input on: July 21, 2023, 04:23:46 PM
You want to take advantage of some system implemented by some pages of betting like for example Sportsbet here, who they credited your deposit without any confirmation, you cant withdraw, but i think you wanna make the bet and if you lose you want to cancel the operation.
It's true that Sportsbet instantly credits your account long before the transaction gets confirmed, but you can't scam them. If you bet and win, you will never get your money until the original transaction gets confirmed. If you cancelled it, it's obvious that it never will. You are kind of scamming the bookie because you lost and they didn't receive the money (you played for free), but they didn't lose anything. Plus, I am sure they have systems in place to detect these things, and they would ban you if you tried it.
2016  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Sparrow wallet installation on: July 21, 2023, 04:18:30 PM
Windows Defender these days is OK software though and IMO it's good enough for cautious user like OP.
Even the best anti-virus and firewall software won't be of help if you don't know what you are doing and you are gullible to fall for various social engineering tricks. It's better to be cautious and look at everything as a possible threat than to click, download, and accept everything without thinking about it. Or simply get a cheap device for some of your more dangerous online habits, and don't use your main computer for such things.
2017  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Unstoppable wallet {User experiences} on: July 21, 2023, 04:09:22 PM
My suggestion is to contact their support team, unless you are willing to experiment yourself with real coins.
Are they offering active support somewhere? They have different social media channels like reddit, Discord, and GitHub. That's probably the best way. Their Telegram channel is only for announcements - no support there. I don't remember if there was a live chat option back when I tested the wallet briefly. Another option is to get in touch with the Horizontal Systems team.

Now for the latest update, you can use the Tron Network in Unstoppable Wallet.
It is already fully Integrated
Too bad that they forgot the most important part - swaps between Tron and Tron-based tokens and other cryptocurrencies. It's questionable whether or not it will be added in the future.
2018  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: 10% discount on Ledger hardware wallets on: July 21, 2023, 03:59:05 PM
Purely technically, this is true and ledger wallets has not been hacked until now (except for the participants of the bounty program). But you and I know about their past troubles, moreover, it happened more than once.
Just under their slogan there should be a postscript in small print:
"this doesn't apply to cases where the ledger had its security system hacked 2 times, the customer database was stolen and we are still brilliantly protected, despite the statements of the haters from the bitcointalk!". Smiley
To be fair, Ledger's database got hacked once. It was their responsibility to safeguard the data on their servers, and they failed to do that. The second hack that occurred around the same time and subsequent leak was that of Shopify - their e-commerce partner. For the end-user who gets their data stolen, it doesn't matter how it happened. But it's still important to differentiate the two.
2019  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Multisig question on: July 20, 2023, 06:02:46 PM
That's a good idea, even though I know none of the best wallet software that support taproot multi-sig.
I don't know which wallets support Taproot multi-sig (if any) or only single-sig, but dkbit98 created a thread and listed software and hardware wallets that support the new address format. You can check Wallets supporting Taproot. There aren't that many. In the meantime, maybe some new ones can be added to that list.
2020  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I want to begin my journey on: July 20, 2023, 05:13:58 PM
Just like the names, the could wallet are those that are not online example is the hardware wallets, while the hot ones are online example is wallets like electrum and blue wallets.
Hardware wallets are somewhere in-between cold and hot wallets. I have heard some people refer to them as cold, other as semi-cold (weird term). Maybe the best is to just call them by their name, hardware wallets, and neither put them in the cold or hot group. The only types of hardware wallet we could consider cold are airgapped signing devices that don't connect to the internet. There are only a few of those, like Coldcard or the Passport. A hardware wallet with a secure element that can share your private keys remotely doesn't deserve to have a cold tag next to its name.

The hardware wallets are a little bit expensive for small holders(price of one is like $50)  but they actually provide the best security.
Airgapped computers provide the best security. Some hardware wallets are the next best thing, but not all of them.
