2001  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Funds in Watch Only Wallet Help on: January 03, 2019, 07:44:06 PM
The offline computer is supposed to be used only for signing transactions which you have to prepare earlier on the online one. Watch-only wallet does not hold your private keys (it wouldn't make any sense) and can be only used for receiving funds, monitoring your transactions and preparing unsigned ones. I don't have any experience with Armory. I have mostly used Electrum so far for cold storage.
2002  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Which wallet still support sending bitcoin with 0 fee? on: January 01, 2019, 07:26:55 PM
0.1 sat/byte fee would be interesting too to see what happens, that's about 20 sats for a standard transaction then. It would be nice to see low fees again soon though.

Currently, Bitcoin Core does not allow users to relay transactions with fee lower than 1 sat/b. Fortunately, this is going to change in the next release of Bitcoin Core (0.18.0). Here you can find more information.

Does rbf require your input to be used with a smaller output?

There should be the same inputs and outputs with no change to the amount of coins sent + a new input which will be spent on the increased fee and an extra output if there are any coins left from the new input. However, there are different variants of RBF.
2003  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Looking for a working wallet on an older android on: December 28, 2018, 07:55:55 PM
Have you try install mycelium app? I don't know if will work but you should try install it from google play.

It won't work. According to Google Play, Mycelium requires at least Android 4.4.

What version of android has your phone have now? I will search for you a wallet if exist any that working on your phone just let me know what version of android is running.

Samsung Galaxy S2 received an official update to Android 4.1. Most wallets require at least Android 4.2 or 4.4. That's why we recommended OP to install a custom ROM. He will also benefit from up-to-date security patches.
2004  Bitcoin / Mycelium / Re: Mycelium now has full Segwit support on: December 28, 2018, 07:21:55 PM
Mycelium will not force users to use bech32. bech32 is still not popular and has clear issues as for example the signing of messages is not yet well defined. If using bech32 puts you into a smaller anonymity set, it degrades your privacy. We opted to improve privacy instead by providing the mixed account feature, where you can seamlessly switch between address types.

Well, that's an interesting approach. Electrum has just released a software update in which bech32 addresses are the default ones. Users are obviously allowed to select a legacy type of addresses during the wallet setup but they can't switch between these two types (nested is only supported while importing the seed) without having to change currently opened wallet file. What will you do once SegWit becomes much more widely used?
2005  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin Wallet Privacy on: December 26, 2018, 10:27:08 AM
When is the possible time to record my IP?

The moment you connect to the node. After that your client requests transaction data regarding your addresses which are disclosed to the node operator. @ETFbitcoin pointed out that there is no point in using Electrum with Tor unless you generate a new wallet. I have described how you should transfer your coins in this post.

I always used Electrum. I guess it's time for me to check some other wallet.

Electrum is one of the best software wallets, especially if you don't want to bother with synchronizing your own node (Bitcoin Core). Samourai Wallet is great but it's available only for Android.
2006  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum Privacy on: December 26, 2018, 10:05:45 AM
- I created wallet without using tor and made some transaction using x, y, z address <= they know the IPs of these transactions.

You don't know if the node operator is logging information about clients which connect to their node. They might know that x, y, z address was used by someone from certain IP address.

I transfer all the BTC from x, y, z wallet to the new wallet address.
From now on, I always use a tor wallet. Meaning they will lose my identity? Completely?

Not really. Transactions are not completely private. Everyone is able to track specific inputs and outputs using block explorers. That's why Bitcoin mixing services are so popular. You should also read more about coin control. You can easily control which coins (inputs) you are going to spend but, first, you have to understand why it is important.
2007  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Live on: December 25, 2018, 07:40:01 PM
Thank you. Also another question does the ledger live resets itself and you have to re add the accounts again ?

In what situation would it reset? Accounts are detected automatically, even after wiping your Ledger and re-entering the same seed on a different device. Keep in mind that exposing your private key is dangerous and you should consider re-initializing your wallet again (generate a new seed).
2008  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: security window 10 Microsoft have access to my priv. keys. on: December 25, 2018, 07:29:39 PM
Bill Gates is definitely going to steal our bitcoins and dump them because Bitcoin is pure evil... How about no?

I have been using Windows 10 for a long time and nothing bad happened so far. There are many guides which show how to disable telemetry but it has nothing to do with the security of your coins. If you are really paranoic then consider buying a hardware wallet or switch to other operating system which is based on Linux and is open-source.
2009  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum Privacy on: December 25, 2018, 05:01:56 PM
If they do not record the IP then why the question rise to hide the IP?

Your IP is being exposed to the node you are currently connected to. What other information does it know? Your public addresses since you request information about transactions associated with them. Using Tor allows you to avoid linking your Bitcoin address to your IP address. Not every node operator will collect information about you of course. You shouldn't worry about it if your Bitcoin address is already somehow associated with you.
2010  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: electrum not working on: December 25, 2018, 04:54:15 PM
Note: Some old versions of Windows might need to install the KB2999226 Windows update.

This might be why Electrum doesn't work on your machine. You can download this update either from the Windows Update or directly from the official Microsoft website.

Edit: It looks like @BrewMaster mentioned exactly the same issue.
2011  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Looking for a working wallet on an older android on: December 24, 2018, 09:33:08 AM
As far as I know, you can upgrade Android on your phone to version 4.1. Most wallets require at least Android 4.2. According to Google Play, Coinomi Wallet should work for you. You could also try Samourai Wallet but I have no idea whether it's going to work for you. Why would you use such an old device? I am quite sure there are many exploits from which you can suffer.

Edit: It looks like Samourai Wallet requires Android 5.0. You can also consider installing a custom ROM for your device. I guess that there are plenty of them available since the S2 model was quite popular.
2012  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin Core 0.17.0 sync stuck at block 553342 on: December 23, 2018, 08:10:05 PM
You have to delete that block manually. You won't have to re-download previous blocks. Stop your Bitcoin Core instance and open its data directory. Go to blocks folder and delete files associated with this block (blk.dat and rev.dat). A similar problem has been described here and it was answered by achow101 who is also a member of this forum.
2013  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Questions RE: setting up Lightning Node on Raspberry Pi with Stadicus' guide on: December 22, 2018, 11:29:43 PM
I was thinking that there was some kind of autopilot thingy but maybe only for opening/searching channels?
sorry. completely new to all of this magic.

Actually, there is an autopilot and it might have just worked for you. According to this transaction, your address 2N5gfEWg4nMU1DS4uLRwqwCQfG8Yym3Jf7m received exactly 0.001 BTC. These coins were almost immediately split between two native SegWit addresses. This suggests that the autopilot has funded a channel for you. Use the following command to check whether or not your payment channel is active:

lncli listchannels

If there is anything listed there then you can try to pay for something over the Lightning Network because your transaction has already more than 6 confirmations.
2014  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Questions RE: setting up Lightning Node on Raspberry Pi with Stadicus' guide on: December 22, 2018, 11:06:10 PM
When I check the transaction on Blockexplorer it tells me that my channel is funded with 0.0006 / 60000 sat
It sums up to the total amount minus 177sat fee (even though it was announced with 166). But I totally do not get it.  Angry

If you executed only these three commands then you didn't open any channel. You have just funded on-chain wallet of your Lightning Network node. In order to open a channel, you have to execute the following commands:

lncli connect <PUBKEY>@<HOST>:<PORT>
lncli openchannel --node_key=<ID_PUBKEY> --local_amt=<AMOUNT>

Could you share your txid with us? Since you are working on the testnet, it won't have any impact on your privacy.
2015  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: [ESHOP launched] Trezor: Bitcoin hardware wallet on: December 19, 2018, 03:26:51 PM
It's weird though. I have contacted them one week before they implement it in Trezor T model and I've asked them about it and they said, they don't have any plans to do so.

Don't you think that they implemented it because of the pressure of the community? A lot of people have been complaining that they care only about their latest model (e.g. Monero is only available on that model). The following fragment of the blog post made me jump to such a conclusion.

It is also a sign that the Trezor One keeps on being maintained and developed even as we are working on porting the Trezor Model T firmware back onto the Trezor One.
2016  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: [ESHOP launched] Trezor: Bitcoin hardware wallet on: December 19, 2018, 12:33:14 PM
High Chances that they would really support Tether.

I have got some good news for you! Trezor One has just got another update in which support for OMNI layer has been introduced. TREZOR One is now capable of holding OMNI, MAIN and USDT (Tether). Here you can read more about the update.
2017  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: DropBit, CoinNinja’s New Mobile Wallet on: December 19, 2018, 12:27:45 PM
According to available information, this app requires Android version 4.3 at least or above versions, and since I try on one old Android phone I also get same message.

I don't think that it's because of the outdated Android. According to Google Play, this wallet is not compatible with my Samsung Galaxy S8+ and S9+. There must be something wrong with the app itself. Obviously, I can't find it when I browse Google Play on my devices.
2018  Bitcoin / Mycelium / Re: Mycelium finally releasing Segwit support this month? on: December 18, 2018, 06:53:56 PM
One of the world's most used wallets does not have a Trezor T or Ledger on hand to test with? Eh?

Trezor T was released not a long time ago so it's understandable but Ledger Nano S...? I have already tested the latest update with the Trezor model T and there are still a few bugs. Passphrases are not supported properly. The wallet requests passphrase too early (even Mycelium displays such error).

And I think the only reason why people didn't switch is because there is no better alternative when it comes to Android (at least not open source).

What about Samourai Wallet? What features does it lack? The only one I can think of right now is no support for hardware wallets.
2019  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: trezor or ledger nano for a beginner ?... on: December 16, 2018, 09:27:06 PM
You have the option to save 5 coins at the same time in the ledger. There are also more possible. For this, however, the appropriate apps must be installed and uninstalled.

Keep in mind that uninstalling apps won't result in loss of coins. The number of apps you can have installed at the same time depends on how much they are similar to each other (you will be able to keep more apps if they are forks of Bitcoin).

Honestly, I would go with Trezor. I had Ledger for about 8 months and I quickly got tired of wallet issues (sometimes transactions wouldn't load). They might have already fixed that since Ledger Live is already available, but as far as I know, Ledger still doesn't allow their users to use external nodes so if their nodes malfunction then their app becomes useless.
2020  Bitcoin / Mycelium / Re: Mycelium now has full Segwit support on: December 16, 2018, 06:00:59 PM
The only missing thing is most explorer should support bech32 aside btc.com.

There are actually quite a lot of block explorers which support bech32 addresses. Blockbook, OXT, smartbit, blockchair, BlockCypher and more. They are not as popular as blockchain.com, but as you can see, there are many alternatives.
