A lot of emphasis should be put on ixcoin's security, could give examples of new currencies being attacked/forked.
+1 Security, Security, Security.

how many stakes are there now?
There are over 100 people who have signed up at www.nexcoin.net . We have not tallied the 'interested' votes here. There is also a Nxt to NEX buy it with over 500,000 Nxt ( 35 BTC ) already pledged. how long will the express intrest continue ? when the NEX come out? Until NEX is released. Target is 4-6 weeks from now.

How's progress with the decentralised exchange backend and frontend GUI going?
I've just checked out counterparty, but to be honest, it's too damn slow, also there are just too many issues with piggybacking on the bitcoin block chain. I think NXT has the right model.
Do you know why it's slow? Two very fundamental reasons 1. each operation on the exchange (e.g. putting in a buy or sell order) has a 10 minute delay (because it requires 1 Bitcoin block to be solved) 2. because all counterparty transactions are simply nested inside the bitcoin blockchain, they are not automatically validated like native bitcoin transactions. This means that in order to validate a transaction the counterparty clients must rewind back from the counterparty genesis/PoB transactions and revalidate to the present point, which is way more inefficient than in bitcoin, where the Merkel tree is able to speed things up. To be fair: 1) The second point is valid, but you will not notice the difference as long as you have whole blockchain downloaded. When I pointed out this first in XCP thread, I mean the main drawback is the time to download the blockchain in the beginning. You will notice the slow parsing time only when a XCP is transferred tens of thousands of times, and that will not happen in near future. 2) The first point is of course true, but should be acceptable to most average users. Normally, we trade only once several days. Even day traders only trade couple of times per day. For non commodities like say eBay listings, then (2) should be acceptable. However, when you do commodities or shares, then the Bitcoin 10 minute per block limitation is really too restrictive. In general, you should do all the high speed stuff off the Bitcoin block chain and then resync back to the blockchain when done. See: http://www.nexcoin.net on how it should really be done.

Are there any plans by Counterparty to change the above setups? You probably want to take a look at NEX http://www.nexcoin.net . It leverages the bitcoin secure network without the weight of Bitcoin's 10 minute confirmations.

Tazman, attaching yourself to a flying star is always a good idea. It has an absolute lifting effect. I chose a bland BTC pic and made it subliminally smaller and put it on the inferior side [of the human mind] and slightly lower than iXcoin's logo so the human mind, without knowing, will perceive iXcoin's image as superior, stronger and more pleasant.
Yes, I see where you're going, but that would be better for our marketing/advertising phase rather than on the website home page. We can still associate with Bitcoin on the website, but it shouldn't take up 50% of the real estate. Describe the association in text, and keep the visuals focused on iXcoin. I understand what you're saying and we could do anything the populous agrees on but if you look at the design, it's not 50%, it's maybe 5%. There's a small BTC logo and then the phrase which mentions BTC. The fact half the page resembles BTC as a dark, bland and old technology is simply graphics. That left side of the page does nothing in Bitcoin's favor and in fact greatly diminishes BTC while it helps portray a stark contrast in a natural, interesting way. I would like to hear Friction's and Luke's opinion and of course, others as well. Dexter would be a good one, he's designed some cool things in the past and also the guys who made out logo, where are they? I would go more with the story that "if you could buy Bitcoin at 11 cents today, would you?". Then talk about Bitcoin's twin... separated at birth. Dexter44 create a couple of videos that all have different spins on the message, probably creating one of those videos (use powtoons) if you want convey a message. As Luke has said, you have to determine your target market, then you build your site. Who is IXC's target market? My thought: Developing countries that think that bitcoin price is too high, but need something equally secure. Target the remittance markets. Target the small device... i.e. SMS. Target micro-transactions and micro-finance.

Hey, I want to pledge 2000 NXT.
One question, If I reconsider and only have 1000 NXT after a while, can I change the number I pledged?
You cannot exceed the amount of your pledge once this offer closes. If those who make a pledge are unable to supply the pledged Nxt, that allocation will be distributed to the general public at the same rate. Can you answer xtester's question? I.e. if someone pledges X, when it comes to actually buying in, can you buy Y where 0<Y<X, or must you buy either X or none at all? You can buy Y. The remainder X-Y will be resold at the same price to the public.

Wow, WIX is Mickey Mouse. Only 800 million iDevices and they don't support them. Ahahaaaaa.
Editing your website through iPads & tablets is not supported at the moment.
To create or edit your site, please log in from your PC or Mac. Your live site is viewable on any device, including iPads, tablets and mobile devices.
I think you need to go to your public library to get some serious stuff done. iPad is not going to cut it.

Dude: U changed the color on the top bar !
Did that take very long ? U must be the best dev in the whole wide world....
I'm sure there's other changes too, not just the colour on the top bar. FrictionlessCoin: we see the change in the top bar, and I think I speak on behalf of the community when I say it's an improvement, but are there any other changes in this client compared to the default NXT client? The blocks in the screenshot suggest it is running on the NXT block chain, not the NEX one, and the addressing scheme seems unchanged. This is only an Alpha version of the client. This will evolve over time so that it would be substantially different from what you are familiar with in the Nxt world.

I was referring to the NXT announcement, not NEX, never being updated to include changes in the pre-sale buried in the discussion. Having the 300% early adopter bonus which reduced steadily to 100% by block count for NXT pre-sale added to the announcement would have encouraged more people to invest before it was cut off. There were other major changes as well.
We are really busy with developing the system and have not had time to think about the best way to distribute the code. However, we can assure you that everything will be spelled out quite clearly prior to any coin exchange. We are not in need of any funding for development, so there is no need for us to request a pre-sale. The purpose of this thread is to assess only the potential demand of a new crypto-currency. We are sufficiently satisfied with what we are seeing.

Note: If in the event that NXT prices continues to fall, we reserve the right to request BTC at an exchange of 0.00007 BTC/NXT.
I'll keep my pledge in but I do not accept this change in terms. You may want to add this along with an explanation to the announcement. A major problem with the initial NXT pre-sale was that changes, like the 300-100% ramp-down in NXT stake per BTC, marker transactions, and ending time or block were not added to the announcement. The reason why we added this reservation is not due to the possible price fluctuations with BTC, but because of the possibility of an complete failure of the Nxt system where coins are not exchangeable in exchanges. Not sure what you mean by 'marker transactions' and 'ending time'. At this time, there is no ending time until 1 million Nxt is raised. At this time we are half way there and believe that once a working implementation is shown that this will close very quickly.

I found the video luke wants to put on the front page of the new website by the look of the fireplace in the pic he posted. I think such an important addition should have been viewed by us. Anyway, I found it and watched it and I think we can do much better. This is a major launch and we put a guy on there with no basic math skills, and who owns no IXC and who's basically saying maybe it's a coin worth buying or maybe not. Very wishy washy, very Mickey Mouse. Watch it and post your opinion. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=jnUHVS0YImYSuggestion, maybe you should have a video of yourself making the iXcoin argument? My friend, Andre, keeps bugging me to make a video with him for IXC. I just don't see myself being all serious and I'm not a tech guy although I easily understand more than the kid in that video. I don't know. You have a smart phone? Come up with a script and record yourself. A fireplace would come in handly for a good background. When done, just upload it into youtube. Worse case, use a webcam.

Looks like I freaked out for nothing, this Luke guy is actually a real pro. He tweeted me promptly about the website and video: @lukeconnell: @Vlad_Roberto Hello. That is a temp video for the draft layout, not the new site launch, purely for live wireframing. http://t.co/V1d9sEGXBy@lukeconnell: @Vlad_Roberto Hello. I'll continue to read the feedback and make amendments, this is just one possible design draft. http://t.co/zatal8olwc@lukeconnell: @Vlad_Roberto The conceptual design has just started, lots of work to be done. Thanks Luke. Next time I'll wait for a formal response from you. Vlad, you might want to spend some time using WIX (website builder www.wix.com ) to come up with a website you think highlights iXcoin. Is it that easy? I have a very good imagination but I'm not a techie in any way. Not at all. So is it possible for a non-techie to build a site? Dirt simple! Go to www.wix.com and start cranking out some ideas!!
