2001  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2022/23 on: November 07, 2022, 06:01:24 AM
What a game that was between betis and sevilla, three red cards and 1 1 score, betis was better in the first half and they managed to score thanks to the red card advantage but things changed in the second half after receiving their second red card which put sevilla team in a better position and they managed to equalize late in the game, with this result betis are still on the fourth position and sevilla still barely outside of the relegation zone.
The game was excellent and it turns out that the bookmakers did not just give such odds for Betis, which has not been able to defeat Sevilla for 4 years at home, although now Betis is clearly in better shape, and luck was on its side at first, but then luck turned away from Betis and if Gudel had been more fortunate, then Sevilla would have won.

2003  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2022/23 on: November 04, 2022, 04:35:45 PM
Betis have a quite big odd in their Sevilla match like 2.20. Sevilla are doing really bad in the league this season and Betis are one of the contenders for top 4. I don't think that Sevilla have much chance in this match. Betis couldn't defeat Sevilla home in the league for 4 years. Maybe this is one of the factors why Betis' odd is this much high now.

However I still expect Betis to win this match. Sevilla still have a long way to go before winning this kind of tough matches.
Apparently the fact that Betis can not beat Sevilla on their field for 4 years and gives that odds, no other coherent arguments.
Betis is much stronger now, won 3 games in a row, unlike Sevilla, who lost their last 2 matches. Moreover, Sevilla lost to a young Manchester City squad.
Although usually bookmakers don't just put odds, so maybe this time Sevilla won't let Betis win for 5 years in a row.
2004  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Does Web 3.0 have a future? on: November 04, 2022, 04:21:30 PM
It is not very clear which projects generally fall under the definition of Web 3.0? Does ETH on POS is a web 3.0 project or not?
What should be in project that we can check it as a "web 3.0 project" Daaps ? NFT ? POW algoritm?

What projects in crypto can generally be considered as web 3.0 projects? Cause it is not very clear which of the projects has such a bright future?

David de Gea and Alejandro Garnacho became players who were instrumental for Manchester United beating Real Sociedad. As a Manchester United fan, I would like to congratulate Alejandro Garnacho. A talented young man from Argentina who idolizes Cristiano Ronaldo.
Garnancho is like a player who in fact he dares to attack into the opponent's defense and is not selfish especially he is a young player. I hope that Garnancho is often played by Tan Hag, hopefully next year he will get a golden boy.
on the other hand De Gea goalkeeper who deserves to enter the Spanish national team for the World Cup. Evidently in every match he managed to make unexpected saves.
De Gea double save was great, once again he was proving that he is a top notch goalkeeper, unfortunately De Gea efforts weren't enough to get Manchester United into first place and after all, they could score 2 goals if Ronaldo was a little more accurate in his exit one on one and threw only the goalkeeper, and and hit the gate.
On the other hand, a match between Manchester and Juventus or Barcelona will also be great.
2006  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2022/23 Season on: November 03, 2022, 01:04:23 PM
It is a big celebration for AC Milan, as at last season they got kicked out in the group stage after finishing fourth in group C with only one game won. This season they got so much improvement  having played against RB Salzburg , Chelsea and Domino Zagreb and their worst performances was against Chelsea both home and away. Giroud made soo much contribution in seeing the proceed to the next stage. He made the biggest contributions equating his goals to his assists.
But unfortunately Milan is a non-seeded team that will most likely face other top teams in the last 16. Milan's journey in the last 16 may be very difficult considering the current seeded team looks very strong like Manchester City, Bayern Munich or Real Madrid.

I wouldn't be surprised if Milan's journey had to stop in the last 16 this season if Real Madrid, Bayern Munich or Manchester City were the opponents. But if it's Porto, Tottenham or Benfica then I think Milan have a chance to qualify for the next round.
I must say that in the 1/16 finals there are actually no "weak" teams.
Yes, there are Rangers teams with a score of minus 20 in goals scored, but all the teams that made it to the 1/16 are either champions of their leagues or silver medalists.
Benfica generally bypassed PSG in the group, although the possibilities of the latter are much higher.
Tottenham also went through a strong group and only in the last match left the group.
So whoever is Milan's opponent, it will be an extremely strong team, but there are no invincible teams, so let's wish Milan good luck.
2007  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Litecoin a forgotten cryptocurrency? on: November 03, 2022, 09:52:43 AM
What makes Litecoin valuable is the fact that people want to use it. People hoard their Litecoins because they believe they can be worth much more in the future. And if enough people think that way, then Litecoin's value will go up. It's all about perception only.

I personally think that Litecoin should not be forgotten. For some reason, there are some people who are still interested in Litecoin, and have even been mining this cryptocurrency. I don't know how long people will continue to mine it, but so far it seems they are still using it in trading and other transactions.
Well, on the market there are not many big coins of the top 50 that use the POW algorithm and that can be mined - from the major ones are BTC, LTC, BCH.
All others like ADA, BNB, SOL and others on POS algorithm.
For those who already bought ASICs, they have to do something with them, don't they? Not to throw them to garbage I guess.
That's partly why LTC hashrate is growing so fast even at price $60 for LTC. In the past, at this hash rate, the price of LTC was $200-300.

...Now the deal with Tesla bitcoin is seen differently, initially I thought that it was all for the sake of hype and profit, so he probabbly really had plans for bitcoin after all. It will be interesting to find out later what went wrong.
Although apparently in reserve 25% of the initial purchase Tesla left on the balance sheet.

Now Tesla had a good opportunity to buy bitcoin at a reduced price and thus reduce the average purchase price. And if such a purchase has really been made, then we will be able to find out about it only after the publication of the quarterly report, that is, at the beginning of 2023.
Now it’s clear why bitcoin began its growth at the beginning of 2020, before the reporting, apparently someone knew in advance about the purchase of bitcoins by Tesla even then, and the second wave of growth was just at the publication of Tesla’s reporting at the beginning of 2020. Quite possibly this year will also be, the purchase price is lower than Tesla sold BTC in 2022.

It is not clear why then Musk initially chose DOGE for his promotion? Partly apparently due to the low transaction prices, but then he could choose instead of DOGE, for example, LTC.
2009  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2022/23 Season on: November 03, 2022, 09:22:31 AM
AC Milan won with a big score last night they were able to make the whole stadium happy with the goals they scored. I praise Olivier Giroud performance last night by successfully becoming man of the match in that match, Giroud was able to score an early goal which made the atmosphere of the match better controlled by AC Milan. By successfully contributing 2 goals and 2 assists, Olivier Giroud seemed to have rediscovered his sharpness because before he seemed to have difficulty scoring goals in the domestic league. With this result AC Milan was able to secure 1 ticket for the round of 16 along with Chelsea who were able to win the group.
I join to congratulating to Milan and Giroud. Milan seems to be out of the group for the first time since the 2013/2014 season. Milan, I think, will decorate the group round with their game, the team plays very interesting and open football.
Olivier Giroud seemed to have a second youth. 2 goals and 2 assists is a great result. It seemed that after so many transitions, Giroud would quietly get lost somewhere and disappear in the 2th squad, but no, he was still able to find his game.
2010  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Litecoin a forgotten cryptocurrency? on: November 02, 2022, 02:01:59 PM

What do you think about LTC? Will it die soon? Or will it last? Do you think it'll go sky-high sometime in the future? If not, why? Your input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Smiley
ASICs are used to mine Litecoin. And it would be nice to change the mining algorithm to a more ASIC-resistant one and adapt the coin for miners on video cards. Then perhaps most miners will be interested in this coin.
The hashrate of litecoin is already growing without any problems. Some day ago hashrate seems to have updated its record and amounted to 558 TH/s.
So there are no problems with new miners in LTC. What is the point of changing something in a working mechanism?
GPUs are all unprofitable now and until the market finds a profitable coin, like ETH before, it will continue and LTC can't help with that only bull market can.
2011  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2022/23 Season on: November 02, 2022, 01:55:10 PM
Congratulations to Tottenham and Eintracht Frankfurt for winning their matches and qualifying for the next round in the UEFA Champions League. Both teams were losing 0-1, but they managed to score 2 goals and win. Tottenham's goal at the last minute of the added time.
This the spirit and the ability to never give up and fight until the end. This is what differentiates the strong teams among the mediocre ones.
I don't see any interesting games today. Maybe Juventus would try to win against PSG, in order to guarantee it's third place in the group and a place in the Europa League.

We can say that Tottenham was saved at the last moment. Marseille missed a lot. Especially in the last minutes, they could not evaluate the middle of Cengiz. They could have finished the game there. But that's the beauty of football. Tottenham did not give up and managed to win. Tottenham managed to win the match from the group where nothing is certain. Eintracht Frankfurt won the game from behind, it was a very good moment. Congratulations to both teams. It was not clear which team would emerge from the group until the last game. That's why we love football so much.
Yes, by the way, I forgot all about the moment Cengiz, when he could just score with his head into an empty net and remove all questions about the match winner, along with this Marseille for some reason with the entire team rushed forward to attack and left one defender and coach who could signal that the match is over, but the judge let finish the moment and Marseille went into oblivion.
Very thoughtless ending from Marseille

It seems to me that this is a really serious mystery why a litecoin with such a good basis (stable operation for many years, universality, inexpensive transactions, reliability, convenience, POW algorithm with an ever-increasing hash rate) cannot not only update their ATH, but also in this cycle where Bitcoin took 60 thousand, and ETH got 4 thousand, LTC should have taken at least one thousand.

Nevertheless, the project is developing and is quite active in social networks, for example, here is one of the latest quotes
"$LTC Is consistently one of the most active blockchains in the world. Depending how you look at it, by transaction volume, active addresses, payments and community activity, #Litecoin is always in the top 2-4. And, Litecoin activity is GROWING!!"

...when on Tesla report bitcoin rose at first to 20 and then to 60 thousand and after some time Tesla quietly sold Bitcoin for 40-60 thousands, when everybody was buying.

No, Tesla has received losses from investing in bitcoin, some of which have already been recorded. In February 2021, Tesla bought BTC - https://www.sec.gov/ix?doc=/Archives/edgar/data/1318605/000156459021004599/tsla-10k_20201231.htm in the amount of $ 1.5 billion, with an average cost of $31250. According to Tesla report for the 2nd quarter of 2022 - https://tesla-cdn.thron.com/static/EIUQEC_2022_Q2_Quarterly_Update_Deck_J8VLIK.pdf?xseo=&response-content-disposition=inline%3Bfilename%3D%22tsla-q2-22-update.pdf%22, 75% of BTC were sold for $936 million, i.e. it turns out that the average cost of selling one bitcoin was approximately $29 thousand.
It changes a lot, because press wrote that Musk was selling bitcoin "quietly" almost on ATH, while he himself seemed to be shilling cue ball and dogs at that moment and so it turns out that there was not only profit, but there were losses.
Now the deal with Tesla bitcoin is seen differently, initially I thought that it was all for the sake of hype and profit, so he probabbly really had plans for bitcoin after all. It will be interesting to find out later what went wrong.
Although apparently in reserve 25% of the initial purchase Tesla left on the balance sheet.

Yeah, this should be a great match, both teams have been playing poorly lately, but Tottenham are probably playing a little better.
Both teams regularly both score and concede(5 games in a row), so there should be many goals in this game, but the one who plays better in defense should win.
I think that it will still be Tottenham.
The competition in Group D is indeed very tight, all teams from this group still have the chance to qualify for the round of 16. Tottenham are currently at the top of the standings with 8 points, while Marseille are at the bottom. Marseille is only two points adrift of Tottenham, if they can win against Tottenham, Marseille will secure a ticket to the last 16.
Tottenham only need a draw to qualify for the last 16, but if they want to finish as group winners Tottenham must beat Marseille or hope the Sporting vs Frankfurt match ends in a draw.

It was a great group. Tottenham and Marseille as I wrote both score and concede, but Tottenham was a little bit lucky.
If Marseille played a little better in a difference in the end of the match it would not have been eliminated from all European competitions.
A team like Marseille has no right to play defense at the end of the match like that.
2015  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Dogecoin - History repeating itself on: November 01, 2022, 01:41:21 PM
That’s mainly because people are not aware of the fact that Elon already bashed dogecoin and doesn't like it anymore. They have seen him praise it, but they have not seen that he dislikes it now. That lack of information is the reason why they do not really have a problem with it anymore...

Elon Musk has never lost interest in dogecoin before, and now that he has bought Twitter, he has a real chance to make his early dreams come true. And his post today can be a confirmation of this: https://twitter.com/elonmusk/status/1587297730631696384 Therefore, it is not surprising that the price of Doge increases on such news.

To be honest this is a very strange behavior. Still it is not very clear whether he really wants to implement Doge in Twitter for payment or it is just a PR and it will turn out as with Bitcoin, when on Tesla report bitcoin rose at first to 20 and then to 60 thousand and after some time Tesla quietly sold Bitcoin for 40-60 thousands, when everybody was buying.
2016  Economy / Economics / Re: How to be more effective working remotely. on: November 01, 2022, 01:13:15 PM
The remote working is a very good idea - COVID gifted to the world.
It has made everyone open in working remotely but it's been there even before the covid pandemic outbreak has come. I'm sure that many of the people here have been working remotely and happily doing those years back then.

Right now, those that have been used to working at home, don't have that feeling anymore of going back to the office. However, there's still that feeling of being social that you'll miss if you choose this space.
Yes of course there were those who worked remotely before covid, but not on that scale.
Probably no more than a couple of percent worked remotely, not dozens like they did under covid. And most importantly, covid has shown that people can avoid wasting time on the road to work and pointless meetings.
Many have seen that they can work from home just as well if they arrange their place and have time left over for other things.
2017  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2022/23 Season on: November 01, 2022, 12:59:53 PM
Both teams are sure to qualify. Napoli and Liverpool have been pretty good so far. but seeing the results in the first meeting of the two, of course, Napoli will be more favored. Napoli's 4-1 victory in the first meeting. Liverpool must work hard to be able to hold Napoli this time. otherwise, they could be beaten again in the cage. and it's not going to be good.
Napoli may not be too ambitious to win too big. Liverpool is also currently looking better than their previous game. Napoli will probably win by 1 or 2 goals.
Napoli would end up as the group leader regardless of the outcome of today's match except Liverpool wins the match by 8-0 which is very unlikely. Ajax and Ranger's poor performance made the group stage very easy for Liverpool and Napoli. I think both teams would just enjoy the game today and ensure that their key players are not injured. Some key player would be rested, while irregular players would be introduced. Players like Salah and Osimhen and other key players might be rested. But currently, Napoli have no match in Europe, if they continue with this form, they would grab the Champions League trophy.

Group D matches would be the most interesting today because all the four teams have chances of qualifying for the next round. Tottenham Hotspur and Marseille match today would be a battlefield of survival. The match between Eintracht Frankfurt and Sporting Lisbon would also be difficult. All the teams in this group deserve to qualify because they have really fought hard for it. These matches would be difficult to predict because all of them seems to be playing at the same level currently.
Napoli has really surprised this season, we can say that Napoli is the real discovery of this Champions League. To be honest I expected that Ajax gave a serious fight to Napoli and Ajax has more chances to go further, but now Ajax is fighting for the Europa League and that chance remains because Rangers play frankly bad.

Group D and the composition was more or less equal and it's great that there are such groups where the intrigue continues to the end.
2018  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2022/23 Season on: November 01, 2022, 10:55:58 AM
The only group that none of the teams has guaranteed qualifying for next round is Group D now. Even the last two teams can qualify for it together. However I'm believing in Tottenham the most about this.

I'm aware that Tottenham have shown an unreliable performance lately in not only the EPL but also the Champions League. Marseille are going to be a really challenging team to beat for them despite doing this before by 2-0 home. I expect Marseille to do their best and try to take advantage of playing in home stadium. Tottenham are favoured according to the odds maybe but I think it will be a very competitive match. Both teams to score seems to be the safest option @1.70 because both teams need point(s) here. Maybe betting on Tottenham or draw @1.40 is also a safe one as I don't think they would just give up that easy.

Both clubs, Tottenham and Marseille have been somewhat disappointing lately and are not playing up to expectations.
It can be said that this game is actually the game of the year for both clubs because it will decide whether their season was successful or not.
Marseille have had a great start to the season, but they are now 4 or 5 games without a win and another failure would probably mean the sacking of their coach Tudor, given the pressure from the fans and the impatience of the club's owners.
Marseille will have an advantage in this match because of the fans and the home field, and Tottenham because of their experience, so the chances are equal for both clubs.

Yeah, this should be a great match, both teams have been playing poorly lately, but Tottenham are probably playing a little better.
Both teams regularly both score and concede(5 games in a row), so there should be many goals in this game, but the one who plays better in defense should win.
I think that it will still be Tottenham.
2019  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Tornado Cash sanctions as the beginning of the end of privacy coins? on: November 01, 2022, 10:39:06 AM
It's no secret that governments (in this case, the US government) are always on the lookout for privacy coins. Even in my own nation, one of the largest exchanges decided to delist Tornado Cash, Monero, and Zcash on November 3rd. I believe it is not us who have not been prepared for ultimate openness, but rather our governments' fear of losing control of our people. These projects are failing to achieve their idealistic goals. I'm not sure when they'll be applied in real life because governments won't let them. We all know that knives have two sides, thus no matter how valuable privacy coins are, they can be exploited as tools by criminals. Let's see how things proceed.

It has always been about control. Governments are afraid decentralized privacy coins and mixers will give people true financial sovereignty, so they are acting in their best interests to help prevent Fiat from losing traction anytime soon. What matters is that privacy coins and mixers remain as decentralized and censorship-resistant as possible to help render governments' efforts worthless. Crypto is all about eliminating the middleman anyways. Regulations are designed to bring back the middleman with KYC and AML laws. Anything that goes against what was established in the first place will face heavy scrutiny from the government.

At least, we can feel confident that Tornado Cash won't be going anywhere thanks to the way it was designed. Sanctions may have affected the mixer's website, but the smart contracts are still living on the ETH blockchain. Even Monero has been delisted from a couple of exchanges, but that hasn't stopped it from becoming bigger and stronger than ever. Who knows if governments will ultimately give up on their task to try to take down privacy for good? Just my thoughts Grin

I would not say that Monero became "stronger" after the major exchanges delisted it.
Everything is correct about control, and there are both arguments for and against complete anonymization, but the very fact that now exchanges with KYC will not list "anonymous" coins.
Now "anonymous" coins have taken their niche among other cryptocurrency projects, but due to the fact that 90-95 percent prefer to trade on large exchanges with liquidity and KYC, I don't think that tornado and similar services will be able to gain great popularity in the future. On the contrary, after the transition of ether to POS and the censorship of transactions, the space for such projects will only decrease.

We here on the forum making arguments over Elon Musk and his terminations, meanwhile those guys got fired but were compensated with 100 million dollars.  Grin

They be like what the hell, retirements came in real early. Who cares if they were fired or not I was able to tweet anyways. Twitter has no more function than that.

That’s big cream layer up there and big thick base down there, better skip to the good part and keep tweeting.
What is the reason to pay for these former top managers so much money? Did they lead the company to the pinnacle of financial success? The company ended 2021 with a loss of $220 million.

It seemed to me that Twitter and before the Mask was going to fire people because of poor financial performance. Yes, now the price of Twitter's shares looks good against the background of Meta, but it's still not clear why top managers are paid so much money especially against the backdrop of the dismissal of ordinary workers who are unlikely to be paid such generous bonuses.
