2002  Economy / Economics / Re: War: who benefits and how! on: April 16, 2023, 04:15:17 PM
Frankly, the US is the cause of this war, and they are the party that is receiving a lot of orders to buy weapons from allies in the world, so it can be said that the US is the most beneficial party. Besides, because of the war, the world fell into an economic crisis, also when they exported inflation to the countries that were their debtors.
Let's say what you say is true, but actually you also shouldn't accuse them like that without attaching evidence, because accusing a party without including evidence is also not good. Even though war and inflation do have causes, so everyone needs to look for the real causes to be disclosed to the public without accusing what is in each person's mind, because during a war only certain parties can benefit while most people only feel trouble.
The recent pentagon leak by the 21 years old national guard that's currently facing charges for the unprofessional act does raises questions if really the US is a party to the cause of this war or not and going by the leakage information it's obvious for an open minded person to agree if they have a hand in it or not.  Moreso there are other issues that follows in the information that surfaces out to the public apart from the issue of the Ukraine-Russia war. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://www.aljazeera.com/amp/news/2023/4/14/pentagon-leak-suspect-faces-charges-in-us-court&ved=2ahUKEwiQ352s5K7-AhU7hP0HHS0VBgkQFnoECBIQAQ&usg=AOvVaw1nXmnKqqMHBMeGIb-TNFxl

--Patience : Bitcoin investment needs patient for an investor to make profit from it,it is not a get rich quick investment. After the halving, when bitcoin ATH comes, only the patient ones will make huge profit from their investment, regardless of how much that they invested.
In investing or trading in crypto or even bitcoin irrespective of how much technical skills you might have but ones patience is missing then it's inevitable that you would be missing opportunities to grab profit as impatient may move you to wanna take the little available profit as  the delay persist, whereas just a little more patient would have done the whole magic.

Sometimes out of fear some persons cut trade as they experience a few losses not knowing they are just close to a rise in price that would have brought a good profit.

Quote
--Discipline : Investing on bitcoin needs discipline for you to be able to accumulate more coins for yourself during the bear market and hold for long, till the bull market. Some persons can't just take their mind of their savings. They easily go to their savings,if they are faced with little difficulties that they can take care of without touching their savings. It is one thing to have a savings and another thing not to temper with your savings till the appropriate time that you planned for.
Simply put, to be a good long time investor and keeping to it despite whatever challenge faced, you just need to have a strong heart. It takes one with a strong heart not to touch his savings meant for a particular project and course not to be tempered with when faced with fierce situation that demands money to go through it. As discipline is likened to having a strong heart towards issues never to deviate from initial plan.
2004  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Stories about lost Bitcoin on: April 15, 2023, 09:06:27 PM
Had my own fair share with virtual mining machine scam from a certain site like that. It's been almost three years now I can really recollect the site address but it was introduced to me by a childhood friend and what certainly convinced me was that fact that he had just made his first withdrawal from the mining stuff which raised up his optimism about the whole stuff by deciding to put in money 3x the initial amount he first invested and I did same too after much explanation from him.

To cut long story short, few days to our expected withdrawal we got locked out of the site till date. Immediately I knew I have been scammed through a gullible bro. Not until I got to know about bitcointalk community and with all informations I have gathered from mind blowing members in the community about crypto and Bitcoin in particular it's easier now for me to discern a scam scheme or trick when I see one from afar.
2005  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Crypto pump and dump Schemes on: April 15, 2023, 04:34:49 PM
There are many ways to easily lose money in crypto and investing on shitcoins believing to get a good profit by holding long is one of such ways. 95% of altcoins are projects with a tagged expiry date and when your investment plan exceeds those of the project developers you're marked for loss. Except in a very few cases that you can get to make some profits with altcoins and got to be very smart with the shortest plan.
To avoid the inevitable risk and tantrum of "had I known", it's better to shift focus on bitcoin but I know those that are fans of get rich quick projects wouldn't see any sense in all of this.
2006  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Most important place on earth. Where? on: April 15, 2023, 07:50:25 AM
I am curious to know where is the Amazon located around the glob to be named the most important place on earth even though I doubt that because not all of us know how that place looks like so then how can we now agree that Amazon is the most important place on earth.
It's actually not "named" the most important place on earth. Like I said, it was a claim or an opinion of a correspondent that the Amazon is the most important place on earth. And draw from @Hispo statement, I also agree that what must have made the correspondent say so is not unconnected to the atmospheric positive significance the Amazon has on issue of climate change and the countless of species the Amazon hosts as a green natural environment.

Edit:
Not to say that there are not places in the other parts of the world like Amazon but it's just the correspondent opinion based on her perception. I guess so!
2007  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Wagering requirements for withdraw on: April 14, 2023, 08:42:23 PM
I recently discovered that I signed up for a casino without thoroughly reading its terms and conditions agreement. But of course this was entirely my fault even that I am still bothered by the withdrawal requirements on deposits. It is well known that deposit bonuses or any bonus offered by a casino will have wagering requirements that goes to x50 or more. What truly concerns me is the 5X wagering requirement on normal deposits without any bonus in order to withdraw the initial deposit or winnings.
To clarify things better here is an example : if you were to deposit $1000 and win $200 in your first few games then you wouldnt be able to withdraw your winnings or even your deposits without wagering at least $5000. This means that 80% of the time, you would lose your money before reaching the required amount.
In my opinion this term is unfair. I am not attacking any specific casino, but I do believe that if users were aware of these requirements they would be less likely to deposit their money in such casinos since there are other casinos without such stringent requirements.
There are many gamblers that have fallen to such unfair T&S so you ain't the first and surely won't be the last as many more who find difficulties in reading T&C's about a casino before rushing to register and deposit their money only to figure out when it's already late to retreat. The only panacea to such unfair wagering requirements is to make it a mandatory necessity to enlighten yourself about the T&C of any casino before getting in as a gambler.

The sad truth is that these casinos weren't built in your own best interest as a gambler so don't always assume about anything relating to their service, always try to get a direct assertion before taking any action. Doing this can save you a lot of complains.
2008  Other / Politics & Society / Most important place on earth. Where? on: April 14, 2023, 07:24:57 PM
Hi guys!
Please don't get it twisted, this is a thread for the sake of knowledge and discussion. I am someone with an unquenchable interest in reading, listening or watching news on regular basis, and for me it's a hobby. Most times I feel emptied should a day pass by without inclining myself to a news broadcast. Am sure there are some persons here that are like that too.

Apart from news I also interest myself with documentaries. Just the other day I was watching a particular documentary on Aljazeera about nature and  one correspondent made a statement claiming that "the most important place on earth is the  Amazon", and this got me marveling how so. What could be her reasons for this claim.

In such wise, for the sake of knowledge and discussion as I earlier expressed above. In your own opinion where on earth do you think is the most important place on earth and why such a place?
2009  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin is improving I guess? on: April 14, 2023, 08:08:57 AM
We are more likely to experience better end of the year, as of last two weeks Bitcoin was $23,000 but I can see some impressive changes hopefully the ends or mid of the year will make significant changes in price. Though am not excited much because  even if it pumps I might not enjoy the fat price, I bought when the price is high but now you will pity my wallet. Anyway we're sure of better 2023.
The last ATH bitcoin price got to was drastically affected particularly by the 2020 pandemic amongst other factors like the Ukraine-Russia war too. The price fall never meant it wasn't going to rise again even above the ATH, all you needed to do was to DCA after the price fell as a way of profit recovery. Yet it's ain't still late to DCA at this current price of around 30k cause it's an intro to a bull season we are heading into.
2010  Economy / Economics / Re: Always Have a financial record in whatever business you own on: April 13, 2023, 10:47:08 PM
There are many more benefits of keeping financial records and I know it's not the most exciting part of your business but it is essential to your business. It doesn't matter how small your business is, be it, laundry, hair salon, boutique, online store, etc, always keep financial records.

I have always wanted to organize something like a free seminar and educate the owners of small businesses in my community about this but

Financial records keeping in every business makes the business owner to have an indepth insight if he's moving forward in his business, fluctuating or retrogressional. Financial records of our business we keep today helps us on how to avoid same futuristic financial mistakes when we're faced with one. Financial records of our business can be likened to a compass that guides our business projections.

I'm a very introverted and shy person so I don't know how to go about it, please I will appreciate ideas.
It's okay to be an introvert, I used to be one not until I met some crazy friends back then in the university that turned my introvert  lifestyle around without me even knowing. Grin

As an introvert with such brilliance you can make good use technology to share your knowledge to crowd out there without you having to sit face to face with them. You can do an audio recording and share with them, which they can keep listening to time after time. It can make you some cool cash if you're very good at what you intend to do.

In a academia plagiarism is more of a criminal offense against the intellectual community and as such it is severely frown at by scholars. And bitcointalk community is no different as a community of academia's from different works of life and that's why Theymos and others frown badly against any act of plagiarism, so the forum don't degenerate to a copy and paste series. Moreover, for Theymos not to have giving you OP attention over these years of recurrent reminder through repeated threads on this matter then He, Theymos must have a justifiable reason for that.

2012  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What can keep me more active here? on: April 13, 2023, 05:52:06 PM
I really want to be here on a daily basis to learn and share knowledge with the forum members but I am not permitted by time to be here, which I believe it's because I really offer nothing here and I also do not seek for anything here.

Is there a possibility that I can do some jobs for people here with my time because I got alot of it this time. This could help me be more active here because if I remember that I have an unfinished task here I'll be compelled to login and do the job. By this bitcointalk.org will have big part of my dairy.

I do not have much skills but I can do the following;
1. Build a HTML website + css and tailwind css.
2. Javascript (next.js and a little of node.js); I'm still learning on this.
3. I can work as visual assistant
4. I can do any legitimate job with little training.
5. I can do any type of writing job(especially fictional, or when given a topic to write about)
6. The advantage I have is my availability, fast learning and willingness to learn.
7. I am not much concerned about the bucks, but atleast if I can keep my internet subscription going I'll be happy.
8. My goal is to be here almost on a daily basis and what something to keep me here.

There are many members tmin the forum that have little or non of the above mentioned skills you said you own and yet these members are very much active on the forum  contributing their own quota in their own little efforts. So for someone like you with such skills you would rather be doing yourself a disservice to think you can't use them actively in the forum.

You can monetize your skills by advertising it in the forum service board which will make you active in the forum by those that would seek for it. And also you can use your wealth of knowledge from your skills to contribute to discussion and give solutions to other members questions relating to your area and in that way you're an asset to the bitcointalk community too.
2013  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: we don't have proper education on bitcoin. on: April 13, 2023, 11:48:29 AM
Please correct me if I am wrong
Even in today's modern world, except for a few people in Europe-America, the general public of the entire world does not have a proper understanding of Bitcoin. Sad Sad Except European-American, anyone who have a little idea about Bitcoin also have misconceptions.
Maybe it will suffice you to know that there are a good number of people not just in European and American countries but also in Asia and Africa that have a good knowledge of bitcoin and it's a good start if we're to look at the period of short time bitcoin has existed with the loads of restrictions from centralized authority. The misconception that exists is drawn from misinformation and people mistaking bitcoin for other kinds of online scam schemes that capitalized on their gullibility.

Due to this problem, many people are unable to invest in a great platform like Bitcoin even if they want to. This problem may not seem like a big deal to many, but think about third world countries. A sad reality is, in my country 80-90% of the population are not familiar with Bitcoin.
Is there any way to solve this problem?
Some of  persons that fall into this percentage aren't privy to information due to their locations in the hinter lands, while some are scared of getting involved based on ugly experience from shady online schemes.
Addition, some persons their religion bars them from making use of anything cryptocurrency as they see it as Haram and these factors pose as a big problem o the wide expected acceptance of bitcoin in most third world. A lots still needs to be done individually.

2015  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Rigged Game on: April 12, 2023, 06:10:31 PM
<snip>
But one comes in mind that I can't get rid of, those that Rigged their games, I don't know if people actually know that some online casinos Rigged their games, like the Aztec casino that was labeled a scam casino for example.

My question is how can one know that their game is rigged? If you play over 20 games and you lose it all, no one will believe you if you say that their is something wrong with the platform because truthfully as a gambler you have to lose, so what way can you actually know that a casino game is been rigged?

Technically, I do not have any knowledge for your concern. But generally, regulators might be a good help, this is why we should better play to those casinos that are licensed.
My attention is drawn to a very salient point you made which is about gamblers making sure to use licensed casinos. This is true about using licensed casinos so to avoid been hooked up witt rigging games by casinos as those with license wouldn't wanna do anything that may lead to their cease of operation license by the authority.

Unlike those with unlicensed operations they don't have anything to lose and would always be determined to bribe their way through the milking of their customer's pocket through game rigging and other alike acts just to keep been in business while they paid their way out.
2016  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Electrum backup question on: April 12, 2023, 04:09:01 PM
So the best thing to do is finding your password. Try to check in a place or thing where you usually keep your passwords or important details. You can try to check in your old notebook in your old drawer. You can also try to check it in your browsing history if you didn't tried clearing it.
Hope you know 7 to 8 years ago is not 8 days ago, and that all of these suggestions though not bad but I don't see them leading him to anywhere close to what he's looking for going by the years gone by especially for a browser history.

In .my opinion OP should just forget about it since he can't get the password to access the wallet from his head and from all indication it doesn't show that he had the password written down some safely 8 years ago that should warrant a search anywhere. It's painful to agree but he should just let go, maybe in the nearer future there maybe possible technological brute solution to such case but not until then.
2017  Economy / Speculation / Re: Do you think BTC would rise again? on: April 11, 2023, 07:03:45 PM
I am not just thinking about the price of bitcoin rising high even beyond expectations, am very optimistic its going to beat the last ATH by the end of 2023 as we look forward into  2024 it's gonna be regrettable for those who couldn't resist the urge to withdraw from holding long.

In my almost two years of knowing about bitcoin I have never been so optimistic about the coin rising so high like I do now looking towards the end of this year 2023. Believe it or not it's just want it's gonna take place.
2018  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does loss of BTC affects total amount of BTC in total supply. on: April 11, 2023, 03:18:02 PM

Question:
I have read few posts of persons talking about losing their wallet's containing BTC and couldn't recover it at all. Hence, as people keep losing their BTC due to loss of wallet seed phrase, can it affect or cause a decline in BTC supply entirely?

It can't affect cost of the entire supply, it will only reduce the circulating supply.
Those lost Bitcoin will no longer be in circulation but they will not be removed from the total supply.
Alright thanks for the clarification on the above question. @Nwada001.

In economics we are told following the law of demands and supply accordingly with the invisible hands of the market that when demands surpasses supply their will be increase in price. So if I may ask again, does this mean that the continuous loss of BTC in wallets which results to reduction in BTC circulation can lead to increments in the price of bitcoin or it doesn't work that way with bitcoin???
2019  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Does loss of BTC affects total amount of BTC in total supply. on: April 11, 2023, 11:30:32 AM
Irrespective of rank I believe am still learning in gradual steps about bitcoin and therefore have this question to ask, it would be of good consequence for me if am well enlightened on this particular subject about bitcoin. So just in case,  someone I might want to talk to about bitcoin for the very first time happens to ask me I can comfortably address it too.

Question:
I have read few posts of persons talking about losing their wallet's containing BTC and couldn't recover it at all. Hence, as people keep losing their BTC due to loss of wallet seed phrase, can it affect or cause a decline in BTC supply entirely?

2020  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What advice do you give a newbie? on: April 11, 2023, 09:31:54 AM
As you can see, I'm a complete newbie; tailless and headless. I have no direction and I seek one. Educate us on the dos and donts of the forum.
How is growth measured here?

In the very words of @odolvlobo "read more post less", this is one simple secret to learning fast and easily assimilate with the dos and don'ts of the forum. Don't get carried away with the urge of gaining merits at all cost in this your little beginning instead use this stage to build your knowledge about bitcoin and cryptocurrency and the working structures of the forum so that you can have a good wealth of ideas to be able to contribute qualitatively in forum discussions which indirectly attracts merits for your rankings.

I'll not fail to leave you a caveat about the imposter's and scamming schemes you might come across in the Crypto space, make sure to do thorough research and ask questions where you are not comfortable about certain recommended projects. The Crypto space is a  jungle of itself, becareful and creative too and you will survive eventually.
