2001  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is your take on this crypto gambling use case idea? on: January 29, 2023, 08:00:49 PM
Do you think it makes sense if a crypto gambling platform only accepts it's own token for gambling and gambling on it's platform? If the games they offer are one-of-a-kind, new, and addictive wouldn't this make the gambling token very valuable? I am asking on behalf of a friend who wants to build his own crypto-gambling project on the blockchain. Will this work? Will this fail? What's your take on this?

I don't know how your friend intends to attract gambleers to his  website but I think is not a good business strategy. Most people want to have a variety of currencies they could use for gambling. Restricting the gambling site currency to a private token would discourage people from using it. But like I said, if your friend does the right publicity and the games on his platform are interesting he might end up attracting customers that would have no choice but to abide by his rules.
2002  Economy / Economics / Re: Billionaires keep losing billions of dollars why poverty rate is increasing on: January 29, 2023, 07:50:12 PM
Last year I heard that Jeff Bezos loses up to 80 billion dollars and Mark Zuckerberg also loses close to that amount which is enough to allivate poverty from a continent.

Alivitate poverty on a continent?
Let's assume both o them lost 80 billion, let's throw in MUsk with 80 billion, and let's round it up to 250 billion, let's divide this to the whole of Africa and you have one insane paycheck of 200$ , that's one time 200$ and that's it. Do you think you can do so something with that?
Besides, it's just money in assets value at that sum, if would start selling them they would end with 3-4 times maybe less in overall value so let's not even go thee.

Besides here is a new thought for you.
Bitcoiner owners lost between March and November 600 billion!  Wink

When we have billionaires losing huge amount of money every year, why not they use those money to help the poor rather than losing them

For that, you first need to learn how the economy and how the stock market works, from what I reed I feel tempered to assume you thought Bezos put 80 billion in a wallet and lost it while scuba diving.
Alleviating poverty might not necessarily mean sharing money or giving people cash. What it might mean is to create platforms where these people can be employed or acquire skills that would be beneficial to them. It could also mean assisting them to get better health services, good infrastructures or even quality education. I know Bill and Melinda Foundation is doing a lot of humanitarian work in Africa which has empowered the people.

As for these billionaires, they are not always satisfied with the wealth they have acquired. most of them only care about how to make more money and not how to empower the people.
2003  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: January 29, 2023, 09:26:50 AM
Quote from: Ratash
Napoli vs Roma will happen tomorrow it will be an exciting game in my opinion roma team has improved greatly in the recent games both in terms of performance and results which allowed them to stay on the top six but i think napoli will be too much for them to handle i expect them to perform well but i still think napoli will end up winning the game.

Yes, there is more confident for Napoli to win this match because at this point they will not allow any team to have chance to reduce their points than to make use of their potential players to maintain the first position in the Italian league table till the end of the tournament. And it will be difficult for Roma to stop Napoli strikers not to achieve goals from this match, because they will definitely achieve goals that will make them to defeat Roma 1-3 to prepare the mind of their fans that they have what it takes to win this Italian league title this season.

Roma is not a team to push aside because they still can win this match if Napoli is not careful. Jose Mourinho is an experienced coach that is technically good. He might identify any loophole in the Napoli team and capitalize on it and make a difference. But Napoli possesses the mentality of a champion.  Their strikers are currently the best in Italy and they also have a solid defense and midfield. This match is the star match today and I expect it to be very entertaining.
2004  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Too accessible of online casino grows addiction faster? on: January 29, 2023, 06:36:27 AM
I have a discussion with a close relative about online gambling and he said something that about how he hate gambling online because it's too addictive, he claimed real life casinos are better and less addictive because he will have to drive down to Las Vegas to gamble or drive down to a local casino and this still takes some physical effort and it discourages many people from frequenting gambling.

He said with online gambling it's available on through mobile phones and you can play at any time, this means no shortage of gambling around the clock and no shortage of losing money as well, you can easily pull out your phone and gamble with any free time, a bit compulsive and too accessible.

What do you think about this claim? Is he right or wrong?

In the field of addictive psychology, easy access is a major drive or motivation for any form of addiction. This is why most addicts are kept in isolated places where they would have any access to the this they are addicted to. The main cause of underage gambling addiction is easy access. An underaged gambler might not be able to visit a real-life gambling house because he knows that everyone would know that he is underaged. But he can easily use his mobile phone and gamble as much as he wants.

But online gambling is here to stay, which means people must have to develop self-control to avoid this problem. And parents should monitor their children to ensure that they are not gambling when they are not mature to control their gambling behavior.
2005  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Advice on choosing a crypto casino on: January 29, 2023, 06:24:57 AM
Greetings, esteemed community. Could you help me advise? I've seen a lot of topics on the forum about crypto or bitcoin casinos, but I need clarification on their point. As I understand the crypto casino involves paying in different cryptocurrencies, and the bitcoin casino involves only bitcoins. How to choose a casino, is there a criterion for this, or do you just go to any casino and play? It's a rash move without preparation. Also interested in a payment system, which is recommended to play in such casinos? Or just a suitable crypto wallet? I apologize for my silly questions, but I want to understand everything once and for all.

Choosing a casino would largely depend on your likes and dislikes. If you are concerned with privacy, it is important to choose a casino that doesn't require KYC. This is because your privacy might be invaded when you give out some important data to them. If you are thrilled by giveaways, then you should consider casinos that give bonuses. But more importantly, you must consider the reputation of every casino because some of them withhold winners' payment without genuine reason. I have always heard that it is better to play games with approved casino firms in bitcointalk.
2006  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: CEX deserves all criticism but not the hate on: January 29, 2023, 06:16:48 AM
I am not doubting that centralized exchanges have contributed to a large extent to the bitcoin environment because it has made bitcoin popular. Most popular sporting clubs have endorsed exchanges like Binance and Ftx which have led to public awareness. They have also assisted to make the buying and selling of cryptocurrencies easy. But they have made people lose their funds and they have also made the government see bitcoin and others as a scam. Nobody is disrespecting them, they are just getting the criticism they deserve.
2007  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2022/23 on: January 28, 2023, 04:01:47 PM
Almost 70 minutes passed and cadiz team are on the lead
2 0 they are managing a great result and will give them important points, they are on a tough situation still but since the break we have seen their performance improve greatly i think that they have the best chance at avoiding relegation compared to the others except for sevilla.
This is a big win for Cadiz because they got just one point in their last two matches. They were fortunate that they utilized the chances they had in the first half. In the second half, they did a lot of defending and they ended up not conceiving any goal. This win has moved them to the 15th position a little bit above the relegation zone which might be their main target this season. Their next match would be more difficult because they are playing against a more formidable side Athletic Madrid. But until then congratulations to Cadiz
2008  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: January 28, 2023, 03:35:19 PM
Talking about Messi future, I'm not worried about where he will end up. Because of the fact that he is still the target of big teams and is even willing to pay a very fantastic salary. So that made Messi calmer not to express his interest because offer after offer he received didn't want to distract him from concentrating on PSG. Moreover, at this time Al Hilal became the most widely mentioned and dared to drop very high prices.

Apart from that, we just have to wait for the right time to hear news from Messi directly and of course, at the end of his contract with PSG, it will be the most important benchmark.
Messi's current performance can get him a club in any top European side. Unlike Ronaldo that has lost some form due to his age, Messi is still on top of his game. But the kind of experienced Ronaldo is getting in Saudi Arabia would attract any player to the league. Ronaldo is receiving a royal treatment and Messi will even get better treatment. The money is also tempting that no player at Messi's age will overlook it. The transfer money Saudi can offer is even bigger than some countries' budgets. Messi might likely end up in Saudi Arabia at the end of his contract with PSG.
2009  Economy / Economics / Re: When your passive income equals or slightly above your salary, what would you do on: January 28, 2023, 03:20:13 PM
one of my passive interests pays more than my salary. My mind has been yearning for a resignation

There's this common saying that the rich keep getting richer, the brain behind it is that they never relent on the source to their income on a single means, they spread their tentacles a d have diverse means bringing in money, I don't expect you to quit the job you're doing as long as it is adaptable by you, but if not worth it or if paraventure it's taking alot of your time without giving you access to find time for the one giving you good earnings then you may drop it, but provided that all things being equal i will advise you keep the two because source of income could never be too many.

It is true we need money to survive but life is too short to spend on activities that don't bring joy and fulfillment. Life is not all about money or riches, happiness is more important. Working in a place that brings sadness or pressure can lead to health problems. If my new job is secured, able to pay my bills, and save some for investment, I would resign from the old job. And you will excel in your new job if you are passionate and live it.
2010  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: It's a good idea to just register on casino on: January 28, 2023, 03:09:38 PM
There is this thing about shopping and airlines that when you check and forget, they send you bonus or discount for your possible shopping/trip. Same holds true for casinos, if you just register and leave they will send you some bonus to get you started playing.

  -  What do you mean by the register and then leave?
Didn't you register because you want to experience being able to play and take advantage of the other bonuses?

I'm sorry I can't get your point here mate, Do you mean that if you don't want to play you will give me a bonus equal to gambling just so I don't have to leave, is that what you mean?

What the Op is saying is that most casinos give bonuses to some customers that have not visited a casino for some time to attract them back. He thinks it might be a good idea to register in some casino and fail to be active for some time. He feels that there are possibilities that to bring you back, the casino firm can give you a bonus that you might use to gamble. He thinks it might be good to just register in as many casinos as possible and use these bonuses.

As long as you have the strength and time and it is not against the rules and regulations of these casino firms, it is not a bad idea.
2011  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When will Sam Bankman-Fried go to jail? on: January 28, 2023, 02:51:36 PM
At this point, it feels like he won't go to jail. Feels like everyone is covering for him. I think he might manage to pay some users back before the trial so they will go easy on him. But I want to see this dude in jail cos if he will be out, he will make FTX 2.0 in no time.

Sam Bankman-Fried would go to jail because many of his accomplices are willing to testify against him in court. And I am sure that they have various documents or facts that can serve as concrete evidence. But his incarceration won't be long because he might not serve the entire prison term. It is possible he might be released on parole or might just get a presidential pardon.
2012  Other / Politics & Society / Not all killings of blacks by white police are racially motivated on: January 28, 2023, 02:29:56 PM
The recent killing of Tyre Nichols by five American police in Memphis is raising more questions about the genuineness of the struggle against police brutality against blacks. This 29year old black FedEx worker, who was also an aspiring photographer was beaten by five all-black police officers and three days later he succumbed to injuries he sustained.

This senseless killing is clear proof that some of the killings of blacks by white officers are not racially motivated. I am not disputing the fact that some are connected to racism but not all are racially motivated. This is an indication that other factors are contributing to these killings.

Could it be that the United States trains its police to see blacks as potential suspects or criminals? They may be trained to perceive blacks as potential risks to the police. Like the killers claimed that he was reaching for their guns, which was unverified. This would make them treat blacks harshly or unfairly.

I am also suspecting that it might be possible that the lifestyle of some blacks has made the police generalize that every black man is a potential risk. This notion is reminding me of the killings of some Africans, mostly Nigerians in South Africa because it was generally believed that they were all engaging in criminal activities. This led to the death of many innocent Nigerians that were law-abiding and engaging in legal economic activities.

It might also be true that these actions might be a result of the individual behavior of these police officers. These officers might just be the bad eggs that are giving the American police a bad reputation.

It could also be that the killing of blacks by white policemen receives high publicity and are overblown to the extent that the root cause of it might be skipped. The press normally focuses on the racial aspect of the issues without giving attention to the major cause of the killings.

How would five black policemen mercilessly beat up a black man until he was mortally injured without sympathy or a brotherly love? It might be possible that white officers would have stopped them from this senseless killing.
2013  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Just enjoying my first Bitcoin bull run. on: January 21, 2023, 07:26:33 AM
I am not most people who have lost money, but we cannot call this a bull run yet. We are at a similar value we were at 3 months ago and that's indicative of a market recovery, but it's not yet a bull market.

You should also try to separate your emotions from the market actions if you intend to be a long term holder. The market could change anytime and if you react to any movement on the chart you would be reacting a lot and maybe sell at a loss or sell too early.

Its good to look at your wallet and discover that you are making money doing nothing.
You are not making money, you still have the same exact amount of BTC. You onuy profit when you sell.

It's true you make money when you sell but I usually compare the price/ worth of bitcoin with dollars. And there is always a feeling that your coin is appreciating.
As for my emotion I was a new bitcoin holder and gradually I became used to the price situation.
2014  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin always shames social media experts. on: January 21, 2023, 07:19:33 AM
As long as there are those who are looking for some mythical prediction to decide whether or not to buy, there would always be self acclaimed experts who would give random predictions in the hope that it turns out well.

There are also those who try to predict within the ambits of what is feasible and would always put a disclaimer that their prediction can go wrong if the market doesn't react as anticipated.

Happy bull run.
Not to sound like those experts  Wink, but I don't think we're there yet

If we are not there yet, can I call it a mini bull run
2015  Other / Beginners & Help / Just enjoying my first Bitcoin bull run. on: January 21, 2023, 07:11:55 AM
This bull run is giving me and my friends so much joy. When we were accumulating people were mocking us. One even advised me to change my coin to Ustd but I kept the faith and was patient. Some are saying it is the bull run and others are saying it is a bull trap. Most people who have lost money are warning that this bull trap is to attract investors and there might be a fall in price because they think the bull run would start next year. Other bitcoin hardcores are saying that the bull is already in the bitcoin space.

For now, I am enjoying the profit feelings because I knew bitcoin in the bear season, this is my first bull season. It was bad to look at your wallet and always discover that you have lost for months, it was emotionally stressful. Since I went through some emotional stress during the bear run, I must enjoy every bit of this bull season. Its good to look at your wallet and discover that you are making money doing nothing.

Happy bull run.
2016  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin always shames social media experts. on: January 21, 2023, 06:42:12 AM
One unique feature of Bitcoin is that it always put social media acclaimed "experts" to shame. Sometimes these social media bitcoiners claim mastery over bitcoin. They indiscriminately predict its price as if they invented the coin with Satoshi. Even Satoshi now might not understand the price movement of Bitcoin because the creation is now economically powerful.

Through trial and error, some of them might have been predicted correctly in the past. And they have large followers that believe their analysis and follower their predictions.  One social media so-called expert recently shut down his social media platform because he predicted that bitcoin would keep falling until it goes into extinction. It was his followers that attacked him until he forcefully closed his page.

Happy bull run.

...Just wait until BTC goes to the moon, and El Salvador could instantly become one of the richest countries in the world. ...

My prediction, if they can maintain and continue to develop things with bitcoin, then when the bull season comes, they will have significant achievements, and that will be a strong impetus for other countries to do same El Salvador. Many countries will accept bitcoin as legal tender.

But I doubt that they will become the richest country in the world with only bitcoin, we need to be realistic, bitcoin will give them a big fortune to be able to solve domestic problems as well as develop the country. Bitcoin cannot make them the richest country in the world, the amount of bitcoin they hold is still too little to be the richest.

When we are talking about bitcoin making El-Savador the richest country, it's not something we should expect within a blink of an eye else people will as well term it a ponzi scheme, it has to go through some process because it's just on it second year journey in El-Savador, why not we ive it time to exercise patience, growth is as good as when the maturition time begins, i believe with the little ones we have seen there's no argument about it that El-Savador has been benefiting from it bitcoin adoption in a number of ways evident enough.

Bitcoin would never make any country the richest. One of the benefit of Bitcoin is that it gives the citizens a viable and superior financial transaction alternative. It can also free nations from external influence from global financial institutions like world bank. Every nation must ensure they develop other sectors of the economy because relying only on Bitcoin for economic growth is unacceptable. People should be gainfully employed, there should be good infrastructure,  less corruption and stable currency  in any country that wants to be rich.
2019  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Do you believe religion is a setback in African development? on: January 19, 2023, 10:21:10 AM
Religion has been a part of African history for centuries. For many people, it has been a source of guidance, comfort, and community. Yet, there are some who believe that religion is a major setback in the development of African nations. This is an excellent topic that merits discussion.

On the one hand, there is no denying that religion has been used to oppress people, especially women and other marginalized groups. Religious beliefs have been used to justify discrimination, and many people feel that certain religious tenets are outdated and no longer applicable. On the other hand, religion can also be a powerful force for good in African societies. It can provide comfort to people in difficult times and bring communities together.

Ultimately, whether religion is a setback in African development is up to the individual. Some may see it as a hinderance, while others may view it as a source of strength and hope. Ultimately, it is up to each person to decide for themselves how to view religion and its impact on African development.

Christianity and Islam has contributed to the development of Africa. It was these Europeans and Arabians that introduced education, technology and other positive innovation to the  African society. But these religious institutions also engaged or introduced some negative activities. Slave trade, exploitation, and discrimination are also products of religion. But currently, religion in Africa is causing more harm than good. Some African countries are fighting against jihadists and religious fanaticism. Religion has also caused violence or even wars that have led to the large-scale destruction of lives and properties. Without religion Africa wouldn't have been developed to this extent.
2020  Economy / Economics / Re: We are not out of the woods yet on: January 19, 2023, 09:59:21 AM
There is always this most painful season in crypto space that hurts even the strongest of crypto holders out there where they will almost give up, I don't believe that this bear market will be different, if you are here in 2019 you knew what I am talking about.

It will get to a point where many will start losing hope on crypto, a more painful bottom will occur and holders will lose faith, the bear market will look like it will be here forever.

We are not at this point yet so do not get too confidence that a new all times low is no more possible, no one saw COVID-19 coming in 2020 and anything can still happen between 2023- 2024.
The mini-bull season has brought a lot of hope and confidence to the bitcoin ecosystem. At least some investors have been able to recover losses and others made some profit. But like you said all might not be well now or we are not out of the woods yet. But one thing is sure: bitcoin would survive these trying times and the bull market would soon emerge. But for now it is important to be patient.
