2001  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: The awareness of Bitcoin is spreading from the internet to the society. on: August 29, 2023, 08:09:45 AM
Out of sight na out of mind, so any how wey people fit to take spread di awareness of bitcoin, weda na tru digital or physical means de welcomed. After I join dis forum and i come see the benefits of di decentralized coin, I de try in my own little ways to de create di awareness. I put a sign in front of my shop say customers fit to make payments with bitcoin, Aldo no customer don pay me with di coin yet, but at least dem and passersby de see di small signboard everyday.

Bitcoin na di way forward now and in di future to de take make transactions, because en no get restrictions like fiat. So na a matter of time, di awareness and acceptance go reach every corner of di world.
2002  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: App developer on motor parks 4 passengers self service reliances & crypto accept on: August 28, 2023, 10:11:27 PM
I encourage you my bro, as you put your mind to achieve this goal, because great things de start from small beginnings. Every innovation today start with one person small idea, and for di initial stage e go be like play play. Aldo make you keep in mind say in transportation business dem price de fluctuate sometimes, if dem see plenty passengers dem fit hike di transport fare, also if passengers no plenty dem go as well reduce price, so your sources for di parks suppose de give updates frequently.

And as you wan de advertise bitcoin and oda cryptocurrencies, as an alternative payment method dat one sef go make sense, but no be all Cryptos make sense, so I for say make you concentrate on bitcoin. Hopefully di transporters go follow key in to di idea of bitcoin,, because na dem de collect di money, if dem no send to collect bitcoin as transport fare, den you go get work to do in dat area. But nothing spoil, if one transporter start de collect am, den gradually odas go join. Wishing you all di best.
2003  Economy / Economics / Re: No choice but to use the unavoidable middle man, the exchange companies. on: August 28, 2023, 04:02:36 PM

Honestly, I have more numbers of trades using a middleman than using a peer-to-peer I'm sure all of us here third parties will always be with us, we are so used to it, It applies in many industries it applies in Cryptocurrency.

With this can we now say that bitcoin is not performing the original privacy goal or that it is the human factor that is frustrating it because like you pointed out, third party services in bitcoin is really growing bigger apart from the exchanges, people have taken up this like the brokers and they stand in the middle to execute the transaction like the escrow service. I think the P2P service is not really getting that attention because of trust.

Definitely the human factor that is mitigating against this original plan of bitcoin P2P transactions, that assures privacy between two parties. And this is as a result of mistrust, because nobody wants to be scammed, therefore it necessitates the importance and emergence of the middleman in transactions. I think that as long as there is no technology on ground yet to guard against being scammed in P2P transactions, then the exchanges and other forms of third parties will still be invited as intermediaries in bitcoin transactions. I really look forward to the day when we won't need any centralized exchanges to transact bitcoin, that was made to be decentralized.
2004  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: How Does Bitcoin information help your present situation? on: August 27, 2023, 12:04:59 PM
Bitcoin information don really help me wella, because through am I understand say besides di fact say I fit to use am as an alternative means of payments, I fit to also use am de earn money too. Wetin sweet me be say I fit to de trade and invest in bitcoin, as a side hustle, e no go disturb my day job or business, which means say  bitcoin afford me di convenience to engage in oda sources of income, as I de earn from am. Na just to plan my work schedule well.

I agree with OP say information na power, because if no be am, I for no discover dis bitcoitalk forum. Apart from di knowledge wey full ground about cryptocurrency matters and oda relevant topics, for inside di forum discussions, as di forum members de rank up na so dem go de earn from signature campaigns. I de work and look forward to de follow oda members to de earn and help my situation, because of dis bitcoin information and knowledge.
2005  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Useful information for Nigerian newbies on: August 27, 2023, 10:05:57 AM
I have a questions? what are the things newbies should do to earn more merit, and what is the advantages of merit, also and also what should encourage the newbies to get more post.we are new in the forum so we still need, some guide so that we can meet up with our daily post.
E no get anything like "daily post", as a newbie wey no even dey campaign, no be must say you go dey steadily make posts, as a newbie reading better pass posting, because the more you read, the more you go dey learn wetin to post from what you read. E get wetin i notice say e dey affect newbies, and the thing is, dem dey rush, dem wan grab everything in a day, no go dey look some users wey still dey new but dem get penty merits, mind you that knowledge dey different and e get people wey dey understand things faster than others.

Having said that, the best way to take get merits na if you get to learn about Bitcoin and the forum too, e go help you to dey make high quality posts, and na posts like that they give merits. The advantage of merit be say you go use am rank up, and as you rank up dey enjoy yourself for forum, you go fit join signature campaign they earn incentives from your contribution to the forum.

Na true, di best way for newbies to take get merits and rank up na to learn about bitcoin, follow forum rules and di most important na to try to focus on making quality posts. Di only thing wey i go fit add from my small experience for di forum na for dem to get patience, because as a newbie or member, you fit to de try make quality posts, but merits no de come like dat. So for me, na just to de continue learning and making quality posts, gradually merits go come, because if new members focus more on merit and e no de forthcoming, na big discouragement be dat.

E go also de good if our senior members go de encourage di low ranked members for our local board with merits from time to time, if dem see quality posts from di upcoming ones. Except for a few members like Oga Brainboss, most ranked up members for dis our Nigeria board no de encourage and support new members with merits. Na my own experience and opinion be dat.
2006  Economy / Economics / Re: No choice but to use the unavoidable middle man, the exchange companies. on: August 26, 2023, 07:30:54 PM
There some most cases where you may deal without involving the middle man, which we can call it escrow because that is the function of p2p trade on any exchange. They hold the funds in between and when is initiated and the receiver confirm his payment then the escrow holder releases for the sender, but from my little research over here I noticed there are some reputable members you can deal without having to go through escrow service for them to hold funds while the business transaction is settled. So partially people across this forum can deal with each others after haven developed trust.

Truly as you have noted, in this forum for example, there are reputable members that you can exchange your bitcoin with fiat, especially in local boards. Some of these trusted members stands as escrows in the exchange of bitcoin to fiat between members in the forum. Although this P2P transactions is limited to trusted people in a group, so reputable exchanges still plays their vital roles as the middleman or third party in exchange transactions.
2007  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Make una no dull oo Bitcoin na d key. on: August 26, 2023, 06:20:51 PM
Which restirction? Nigeria government is not an enemy of bitcoin adoption. They even include 10% capital gain tax in the recent financial act. No much regulation yet in Nigeria that can restrict you from not having your own crypto business and ads if you know the right way to go about it.

ASICs are not banned or restricted in Nigeria. If they are banned, they will not be imported. If imported illegally, custom will seize it. But you can see people on social media talking about bitcoin mining and about cryptocurrencies.

I do not think we should blame Nigeria government because they are not an enemy to bitcoin adoption.

True true, Nigeria government no be enemy of bitcoin, na only CBN wey be an agency of di government na dem put restrictions for bitcoin. But where I reason with di OP be say our government officials de harass young people too much, especially di police, if dem see especially youth's wey  carry anything wey resemble laptop or if dem see say dem carry big phones. I de talk from experience because I don witness am for many occasions. But all dat obstacles no suppose to deter us, so far say na genuine crtpto matter we de run.

Di enlightenment, awareness and acceptance of cryptocurencies don de increase more for Nigeria, so I believe say with time every body go accept am say em don come to stay and tap into em benefit as an alternative globally recognized decentralized digital currency, wey dem even fit to de cash in from trading and investing in di coin.
2008  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Could Nigerian stabilise naira using friendly policies through cryptocurrency? on: August 26, 2023, 03:45:09 PM
I wonder where Ray Yesouf, take derive dis im theory from, because bitcoin no be di problem of Nigeria, in fact cryptography na to help strengthen di economy as an alternative to fiat. Abi wetin concern government with people decentralized digital currency, for den to collect am and change to USD in oda to strengthen our centralized fiat currency, e no make sense to me. Even if government wan de collect people bitcoin, shey dem go de trace people none custodial wallets? Na still di bitcoin wey de for exchanges dem go fit trace. At di end of di day e go be a wasted effort.

Our problem for Nigeria, be say na consuming nation na im we be, di only major thing wey we de export na crude oil, and we de still import di finished product. Dis na some of di factors wey fit to stabilize our economy
1: If our refineries de work and we come build new ones, e go save us plenty money from importing from oda countries.
2: Boost money for our education sector and fund researches.
3: Tackle insecurity so foreign investors go fit to get conducive atmosphere to do business and help tackle unemployment. Because many of dem don relocate comot for Nigeria.
4: Support local manufactures with loans, instead of giving dem high taxation.
5: Provide basic amenities like good road and constant power supply. Wey go make things to de easy for business owners and the general public.
Di list de endless, no be to interfere inside people legitimate businesses, before di country go de beta. Anyway I no sayno reasonable government go take dat kind advice.
2009  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: How signature campaigns de take make money for di forum. on: August 26, 2023, 07:13:25 AM
Visit this website https://www.similarweb.com/website/bitcointalk.org/#overview to read the full information on bitcointalk ranking and other important information, i believe that should clearly answer your question.
According to the information on similarweb, this forum has an average everyday visits of 1.3 million, that means that over 1.3 million people visit the forum, and that i believe include members and non members of the forum, and in that number, an average of 53.65 percent of visitors view one full page before leaving, and every visitor views an average of 4.28 pages before leaving the forum, and the average time each visitor spends on the forum is 3 minutes minimum..

And like i believe you have been told, signature ads on this forum are viewable to both members and non members of this forum, so this simply means that, the signature ads you see are not the companies advertising to just members of this forum alone, but they are also advertising to the visitors of this forum as well, i hope this is clear enough.

This your enlightenment over clearly answer my question, because I bin get information from a member for dis thread say about 50 thousand people de visit this bitcointalk forum everyday, and I  reason say dat number fit encourage di signatures to de campaign for di forum. But dis your information wey you back up with fact really overwhelm me, 1.3 million people de visit di forum everyday, dis one na sure banker say di campaigns no fit stop, because na real business place dis forum be for dem.

One of di things wey I like about dis forum be say every information about am de accessible, except say person no know where to go search am.
2010  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Network Congestion Issue in Ramitano on: August 25, 2023, 03:04:55 PM
The maintainance matter for remitano na absolutely nothing to worry about, Ive been a  very active user of Remitano since 2016, so I personally know when issue pass sit down look, the current maintainance announced na only bitcoin main network na im the matter affect, any body wey get bitcoin for the exchange can still withdraw their bitcoin through binance smart chain network, since yesterday, abi a day before yesterday wey they make this announcement, I don send and receive plenty coins, send and receive naira through the exchange, my total transaction for the exchange just between that a day before yesterday and yesterday don pass 1 million naira self, and every thing go successfully without any issues..

The maintainance na only bitcoin network e affect, any body can still trade other coins peacefully, this na nothing to panic about, every exchange dey do this kind maintainance from time to time, even binance wey every body dey use, dey do maintenance from time to time.

Senior man, i like your faith for Remitano, e de assuring as you believe say maintainance na normal thing, and after sometime e go be business as usual for dem crypto matter, again with dem track record, I
follow you believe say e go be as you talk. Aldo fear na normal thing for dis kind matter, because no matter how reliable wey di exchange be, im still de centralized. Sodiafo anything can happen, including freezing your coins for a very long period of time, wey fit no de convenient or di exchange fit even fold up. Dat na why if your bitcoin, no de for your none custodial wallet, you no get power over am.

2011  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Please Be Careful With Binance/Others P2p on: August 24, 2023, 10:39:10 PM
Wetin worry me for dis matter be say binance, de like fiat bank for matters like dis, people de rely on any information wey dem see say di exchange give, to be authentic. As dem don approve di transaction, and dat one on it's own suppose be assurance say di money don enter. Anyway e de good say you know wetin de, and refuse to release your bitcoin, odawise binance for deny you like Judas, tell you say you de on your own, notwithstanding say na dem show you say di transaction de successful.

From dis your thread make me de wonder weda person fit to sue di exchange, if di person lose money based on di exchange misinformation or negligence. Because person wey de new to binance fit fall prey to dis scammers, just because im rely on di information wey dem give am.
2012  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: How signature campaigns de take make money for di forum. on: August 24, 2023, 03:30:56 PM
di main reason wey dem de take advertise na to reach a wider audience wey new people go de see dem products everyday, so dem go de get new customers to de patronize dem. But na only members wey de for di forum alone de see dis adverts or campaigns. So how di campaigns de take increase sales and recover di payments to members,

Even if nah the forum members alone dem they see the adverts, eh enough members still they way go patronize those companies way they advertise for here as the forum get about 3 million + users way dy registered for this forum even as nah just 50k + of them they active, eh still reach enough number to carry create awareness.

Nd as the member way dy above don talk, people way no even they registered for this forum they come here ones, ones to come gather information, which be to read thread to thread, and as them dy read am they see am so, few out of plenty of dem go try click 4 the link way dy the signature which go help the project way dy under that signature get small customers. nah just as google ads them they appear for plenty site nah so this signature just wan dy inform of. people see here as better source for information, nah why dem they come here come research, even if people no register under the link way dy signature, dem they sometimes go outside the forum go make research about the project then them go change carry other link register den add small profit to the company.

50 thousand active members wey de discuss bitcoin, crypto matters and oda off topics everyday, dat na one complete community, I bin no know about dis information before now, thanks for di update. So even if na the forum members alone de see di adverts, and up to 50℅ of dem de patronize dem, dat na something. As you and CharlesTim don point out other people wey no be forum members de also visit di forum and dem de see di  adverts, some go also decide to visit some signatures and patronize dem.

E show say di forum na very good place for business advertisements, because of di traffic of activities wey de happen for inside. Both members and none members of di forum wey de visit am everyday de see all of di signature campaigns, and  dat na enof reason for de signatures to de continue to campaign.
2013  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / How signature campaigns de take make money for di forum. on: August 23, 2023, 12:11:18 AM
I don de reason dis matter for some time now, about how di signature campaigns de take make money for inside bitcointalk forum. Aldo I never reach full member rank for di forum, to understand as dem de take operate, so I reason say as I de privileged to get older members wey de run things with dem, say make I ask una how? Di main reason wey I wan know be say for my small experience about businesses, di main reason wey dem de take advertise na to reach a wider audience wey new people go de see dem products everyday, so dem go de get new customers to de patronize dem. But na only members wey de for di forum alone de see dis adverts or campaigns. So how di campaigns de take increase sales and recover di payments to members, as na only dem and junior members de see di adverts.

I de wonder weda dem de pay members to de advertise  and create awareness for dem products or dem de pay members to de patronize dem products? Lastly weda dem products de promote bitcoin?

Abeg if dis na forbidden question, our ogas dem fit to lock di thread. But if na correct question, make una help me chuk mouth for di matter?
2014  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: No Fiat, just Digital currency. on: August 22, 2023, 01:37:09 PM
First, you have to settle this fact,  which is,  bitcoin can't replace our local currency and contrary to speculation that Bitcoin will eliminate or reduce the potentials of fiat currency which may be true in some ways and can be seen in the various Bitcoin price movements and increasing value,  but aside from that,  Bitcoin can't take fiat overboard and both will continue to co-exist and act as an intermediary for value exchange at every point.

But then also,  we have to also look at the percentage of the world population who know or use Bitcoin and how many countries around the world already made Bitcoin their legal tender,  this is what we can use to measure the level of public usage and acceptance of Bitcoin.

True true, bitcoin no go fit to eliminate naira, because di fiat na our national identity. So no matter di inflation or how worthless wey naira fit de, di government go still make sure say na im we go de use. With all respect to our country, na follow follow we still be, because wey other developed countries still never adopt bitcoin finish or make am dem legal tender, na we wey be third world go first overtake them? So na for both fiat and bitcoin to de coexist, wey di latter go de act as an alternative currency.

Aldo I de hope say in di future bitcoin adoption go  de total for Nigeria, wey everybody go get dem bitcoin Wallet, just like fiat bank account and you go enter anywhere do transaction and make payment via P2P, without using any centralized exchanges. But di point be say as I see am, dis revolution no go start from underdeveloped countries like Nigeria, na from developed countries e go start, den slowly countries like our own no go get choice but to follow di trend.
2015  Economy / Economics / Re: No choice but to use the unavoidable middle man, the exchange companies. on: August 22, 2023, 12:31:23 PM
Some businesses don't want to hold Bitcoin so they use intermediaries that receive Bitcoin for them and convert it to fiat. But not all businesses are like that, some don't mind keeping BTC, so they get they full decentralized experience.

The bigger problem that if you want to use Bitcoin, often you just can't, because you can't pay with it, so you have to sell it for fiat. In the past there was a lot of hope that soon mass adoption will come and it will change, but that "soon" never came so far.

The solution to eliminating the middleman, as you have stated is to have mass adoption of bitcoin, but that is yet to happen, so the exchange middleman still keeps his job. I think that to attain this mass adoption will not be easy because fiat currencies is the identities of countries, so if a single digital currency were to replace or reduce the power of local fiat, then they'll make sure that it doesn't happen. I commend El Salvador, for adopting bitcoin, as their currency, hoping that other nations will see the advantages of bitcoin and adopt it too. I believe that the adoption is attainable because I hear that in some countries that they have bitcoin ATM's, so maybe if every country can adopt it, then it's a way to go.
2016  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bitcoin trading and gambling on: August 22, 2023, 11:54:26 AM
For some time now I've been pondering on this matter, because I see similarity between bitcoin trading and gambling, so I'm wondering whether they're the same thing...
...
So having made all this comparisons, do you think that bitcoin can be classified as gambling?

I am going to speak from my experience and I believe that there is more similarity between certain types of "gambling" such as sports betting and poker and trading than between the classic casino gambling, in which there is a mathematical certainty of losing money in the long term.

In trading, as in sports betting and poker, you can lose money but with study, patience and effort you can make money in the long run.

I would say that to the extent that someone gets into trading following the fashion of the moment, with little knowledge and using a lot of leverage is gambling, but if you take your time to study, test and manage a bankroll, or as they say in the field of trading, is doing something more like what the winning players of poker and sports betting do.

In fact, a while back when the poker tables started getting tougher I saw people say on poker forums that they were starting to try trading, but I don't know how they got on.

I can agree with your comparison of bitcoin trading and and sports/poker gambling, the three of them requires acquiring special skills to earn money with them. Just like when you're required to study the events that determines the fluctuations of bitcoin, you're also expected to know about clubs and abilities of players in a particular season to know if it's favorable to bet on them, then poker, just like chess, you need special skills to be able to master the game and win.

Unlike the classic casino gambling, where you don't need any special skills to gamble, it is very easy for people to lose their money. I classify this types of gambling as "try your luck" because you stake your money and rely solely on luck to win.
2017  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Where can I buy BTC in this board? on: August 18, 2023, 08:03:14 AM
You are on the right board.
Igehhbotz too make some offers in the past, but I do not know if he is going to be interested.

I hope there will be some people that will accept this offer.I would have helped but I do not prepare for this. I am surprised that Brainbiss has locked his exchange thread.

Be careful of scammers. If you are using anyone that is not reputed enough, use someone in between as an escrow.

Yes I'm open to trade. I'm surprised why the OP wouldn't use a CEX P2P, which is one of the most efficient ways to buy and sell cryptocurrency in Nigeria. I understand that most individuals dislike the idea of KYC, but I see nothing wrong with submitting a tie 1 KYC, which is to verify email and phone number only and trading less than $100 each day.

Op if you must buy from anyone from this board I'm ready to serve as zero-fees escrow for the deal.

But if you want to get it from me send a PM and I will give you my rates.

Thanks my Oga Igebotz, as you stand gidigba for ground to run P2P and to serve as escrow for deals here for dis our board. E de good as reputable member like you de run dis parole, so members wey wan exchange bitcoin and naira transactions for our local board go get confidence say na genuine source dem de deal with. I commend di OP as e trow di question open, because money matter na serious matter, so person need to shine eyes, ask questions and verify wella before committing money for any deals, because of story, scammers de everywhere de look for victims.
2018  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: How you got your first Bitcoin? on: August 17, 2023, 08:34:35 PM
I can get bitcoin by dash too. If someone give me bitcoin in birthday or marriage day, that is an another way I can also have bitcoin. Op you limit the acquiring of bitcoin to only thread ways, but there are other ways, but those three ways are the common ones for people to mention everytime. You add the following to the list. By gift, by accepting in your business payment methods, etc. As for me I started my first bitcoin from earning from the winz.io campaign as a member on the year March, 2022. And I was excited though it was in mbtc which was very small. Mbtc is also a fraction of bitcoin for smaller unit.

Thanks to you senior man @Agbe, dis by dashiing, meaning to gift bitcoin wey you mention now, na true because na di three way OP mention na im I for mention if dem ask me ways to get bitcoin.

Make I no go de repeat wetin members don talk so far for dis matter, I go just answer the OP question: Before I join dis bitcointalk forum, I no know anything about crypto, dat na di naked truth, and everything wey I know so fa about cryptocurencies, na for dis forum and google. My first bitcoin wey I earn na for dis our Nigeria local board. The monthly SatoPrincess, BTC reward.
2019  Economy / Economics / Re: No choice but to use the unavoidable middle man, the exchange companies. on: August 15, 2023, 10:10:18 PM

It doesn't mean when you're use third party, you will be safe.

Middleman is always be a trusted, reputable and experienced, but if the middleman act unfair because the scammer bribed him, then what you can do? or maybe you have an evidence where you can prove if you're legit, but the scammer create a fake evidence in order to convince the middleman, if the middleman make a mistake by trusting the scammer, what you can do?

You made a valid point, because if the middleman is compromised then it becomes a double scam, where  the victim becomes the overall loser. Therefore, one should not loose guard but be very cautious, in any financial dealings whether directly or using a middleman. This is why if someone must use middleman or exchanges as the case may be in bitcoin, to do any transaction, it is better to use the ones that have good track record. That is why reputable and trusted exchanges like Binance, who are very innovative, will stand the test of time, because trust is the key word in any financial matters.

I want to specially thank SatoPrincess, for being
the ekwueme. Your BTC reward na a very big challenge and encouragement for newbies and members to de try to do quality posts, wey de related to bitcoin and cryptocurrencies. The matter concern me because I don collect di reward, back to back before e reach EluguHCman, turn. I hope say oda members and newbies go step up with quality posts to challenge for di reward.
