Musta been that fella what made a functional ammo mag with a 3d printer. Funny thing about tyranny...people so oft seem to rebel.

2003  Other / Politics & Society / Re: There is a man who has declared war against the Los Angeles Police Department... on: February 13, 2013, 01:48:05 AM
Anybody else wondering why Christopher Dorner is a "domestic terrorist" & not simply another American with "mental health issues"?

Nope. This is being done more and more frequently, presumably to increase the perception that the so called "war on terror" is global in scope and includes US soil and not just Americans murdered in the name of the war on terror on foreign soil(Alwaki, Kahn). Now if they kill him with a drone it'll just be another terrorist killed. Sure is a good thing police forces are being militarized...makes you feel safe right?
2004  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: The bASIC Refund Tracking Thread on: February 13, 2013, 12:48:09 AM
Holy crap you're abrasive...newbie.

Dave said on more than one occasion that he and Tom were nowhere near each other. Hell lots of us spoke with Tom on the phone...big deal. If Dave actually believed everything that Tom said then why did he tell everyone to do chargebacks? That was clearly not in Tom's best interest.

PS...perhaps a switch to boxers is in order?

2010  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: SCAMMER: Cablepair (Tom) from BTCFPGA.com/bitcoinasic.net on: February 12, 2013, 09:47:47 PM
I disagree. While I don't think the action should be taken lightly there are instances in which confirmed scammers should be taken to task by anyone with the ability to do so. If it's possible to confirm that it's indeed Tom mining on that account I'd seize it and return the proceeds to those he stole from were it up to me.

...but then I'd delete Giga's BFL orders as well.

Have you checked spam folders very carefully? At least some recipients of emails from transplanted securities have found their correspondence there.

Fair enough, my bad.

...still think it's unfortunate that paypal still exists btw. Grin

Edit: N/M logging in from fb actually dropped me to zero and apparently nuked my account. Probably due to the fact that my son uses my fb account 1000x more than I do. <sigh>

Edit2: Changed fb account primary email address back to mine and tried logging into btcjam again from fb, but now it just says "We're sorry, but something went wrong."

Edit3: Apparently fixed.
2014  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL: Chips have shipped, on their way to US on: February 12, 2013, 08:07:54 PM
...but hey, don't let the facts get in the way.

@CreativeX - you've been here long enough to know that this is how you're supposed to argue on the forums, don't 'cha know! Wink

I do know...I just refuse to conform. Cheesy Now if you'll excuse me I have an afternoon of ripping tags off pillows planned.

just use the ignore button for this kind of scum...

...but then I wouldn't get to read what you write?!?

I loled at both the memes and your response. Facts so far are that neither company has really shipped their first batch and that we're (as a community) are greatly anticipating their shipments. Having said that, I really would like to see both companies succeed; having one source for mining gear is not preferably as it would leave too much power in the hands of the manufacturer.

Agreed. While currently I've only a vested interest in one of the two vendors referenced above, I do not believe a situation where one company has a monopoly would be good for BTC or me personally.

Just the same the old adage still holds up, that if you repeat something that's false enough times it is eventually perceived as fact. Perhaps the editor of that pic is simply unaware that Avalon announced a $1999 price tag for batch 2 units long ago and that $1499 is actually a discount to that price, or that they had actually moved their shipping date up.
2015  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: SCAMMER: Cablepair (Tom) from BTCFPGA.com/bitcoinasic.net on: February 12, 2013, 07:48:07 PM
True that, that's why Mr. Teal's evidence is important as is the importance of ensuring that the IP being used to mine is originating from NY state. Tom is as I understand it, a family man, and is not likely able to uproot on short notice and relocate out of state.

What are the odds that someone with a sizable mining footprint is using the same login Tom used in the past on BTCGuild from a NY IP that isn't Tom? Infinitesimally small?
2016  Economy / Speculation / Re: Explanation for BTC price surge? on: February 12, 2013, 07:35:17 PM
Google trends "get bitcoins"

http://www.google.com/trends/explore#q=%22get+bitcoins%22&cmpt=q

Roughly 80% of the peak interest and roughly 80% of the peak price(not adjusted for inflation), though on a much more sustainable trajectory this time.
2017  Economy / Speculation / Re: bubble or bulltrap? on: February 12, 2013, 07:17:25 PM
Sometimes being familiar with cryptos works against us.

The competing digital currencies are fiat, BTC, and LTC. Everybody thinks Litecoins are beaten down to death because they look atrocious next to BTC, but they've actually held their own or gained vs the worst of the bunch...USDs. It doesn't matter how overvalued we BTC old hands think they are currently, people just finding out about them look at the all time high and think they're getting a bargain...even at $25.75.

I know this happens because I was recently contacted by an old friend, who wanted to ask me if I was into those "bitcoin thingies" he recently heard about and obtained. My response was WTF! I TOLD YOU TO BUY BTCs OVER  A YEAR AGO!

2019  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: SCAMMER: Cablepair (Tom) from BTCFPGA.com/bitcoinasic.net on: February 12, 2013, 06:04:18 PM
While I do enjoy a good witch hunt, the one user to contact me about freezing funds provided a user ID which has absolutely nothing tying it to Tom/bASIC.  The account is almost 2 years old, which predates the first FPGA sales he ever made, and heavily predates ASIC offerings.

The email and username do not have anything resembling something Tom/cablepair has ever used on the forums.  Unless there is proof that the user is mining with stolen hardware, there is very little I can do aside from blocking the account from continuing to mine.  I'm not the internet police, and all it would accomplish is freezing a FEW coins, which I am in no position to distribute to any party, nor do I want to be.

Real stand upish of you to look into this at all, particularly so quickly. Much appreciated. Anything that can be done to make Tom less comfortable is a win at this point.

Scammer accusations occasionally get a response where polite requests fail.

ok thanks, I was trying to avoid that but here goes:

WOULD ALL THOSE ASSET ISSUERS NOTIFIED BY NEFARIO ON 12/12/2012 CONTACT THEIR SHAREHOLDERS AND UPDATE THEM ON THE STATUS OF THEIR SHARE HOLDINGS

I will wait and see if I get contacted (five companies) and if not list them here as unreliable. reg.

That's not likely going to cut it.

Sadly we have a separate board for scam accusations. Even sadder is that it's a hoppin' place. Cry
