2021  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [XPM] [FASTER!] Mining PrimeCoin using DigitalOcean (VPS) on: July 17, 2013, 05:58:45 AM
James Bertelson made it to my hate list for calling all miners "idiots"

It would be fun to see his computer mining any coins without his knowledge...

2024  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] Yet another GPU miner release! [YAC] on: June 23, 2013, 07:40:56 AM
Can we see a significant hashrate drop after N becomes 8192, i.e., GPU no longer works on YAC?

Hashrate will definitely drop everytime the N increases for a short while until difficulty adapts.
I read some calculations on bitcointalk (from Hanzac or Windmaster?) about the correlation between GPU/CPU mining and the N-change. I remember, after 13 August GPUs will still be working, but will have no more advantage over CPU.

At the moment, when he changed that order people were buying for 0.000211 for a short time. I hope he gets rich with that move.

Looks like he cancelled that order for a short time. People were buying at 0.000211.

Maybe the client is mining another coin for the developer Cheesy

He should be able to use the cpuminer at the same time.

from yacoin.org:

Quote

Making all peers equal

Long-term safety from GPU and ASIC mining

YaCoin is the first Internet crypto currency to guarantee long-term protection against GPU and ASIC mining. This enables all peers to participate equally in the network, regardless of their financial backing. Whether you have a few Intel i7's or a ATI Radeon 5790 GPU, you can share in mining profitability.

More Information

Internet currency for widespread adoption

    Long-term GPU and ASIC protection
    Ultra-fast confirmations
    Long-term energy efficiency (PoS mining)
    CPU-only proof-of-work mining
Secure and robust (based on NVC)

Should change to: Once CPU-only, now hijacked by GPU miners. Come back in August.

Regarding an auction site, this is probably what would be used to make one: http://www.webidsupport.com/

Would just need to add a payment plugin for YAC and get it hosted. If no one else takes this up, I may do it once I get some free time. At a minimum I would post a number of items to whatever marketplace site was created for YAC.

Where can you get that plugin? I got some free time left...
2036  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: New CPU miner to kick ass big time I want one :) on: June 11, 2013, 06:04:29 AM
The first who buys it for YAC mining will have just a little bit more than 51% global hashrate. Galactus style attack.
2037  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][YAC] YACoin ongoing development on: June 10, 2013, 09:30:27 AM
Yacoin needs an active developer community and marketing team. Where everybody does a little job of promoting/improving the coin Smiley

Like I did for example with my signature.
I created a thread on a big forum (HackForums)
If you're interested in reading it, here's the link: http://www.hackforums.net/showthread.php?tid=3505553
Only registered users can read threads though.

We will all end up beeing hacked, thanks!
2038  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: CPU Mining Question on: June 10, 2013, 08:49:08 AM
I assume your adding your core speeds together in making this magic 16Ghz chip, If the electricity is free? as much as you want. If not, don't bother. The whole idea of CPU mining is flawed esp. for all these scrypt clone coins that use it as some kind of badge even tho GPU miners are already out there and make CPU mining them irrelevant. The only coin of not recently that had any leeway into CPU only mining is YAC, but now that the N-factor there has risen the hash rates have dropped considerably.

You forgot to mention, that difficulty at YAC keeps adjusting quickly, so the avarage earning doesn't change too much. There maybe are some individuals that are mining YAC with their GPUs (instead of mining some more valuable coin), but these will stop latest in August when N is high enough to make GPU mining worthless. So with your 16Ghz CPU power you will mine maybe 10YAC per day in a pool which is about 10-12 USD a month at the current bter price.

Bruteforcing a hashed password is even worse: 100% CPU usage for EVERY core!!! (12 cores= 1200%!)

Client need to be mining (and therefore without encryption) to earn the POS?
