2021  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Community/User based governance for bitcoin on: June 29, 2017, 12:52:52 PM
I am already running a UASF node but that's because i have a purpose by doing so. I am willing to do it for free because I want to end the miners cartel.
so you do know the reasons and yet you ask!

Quote
If everything was going well, I wouldn't care a bit about running a node.
things are never going to go well. that is the human nature. anywhere in the world there will be people who will come and ruin things for the rest of the world.

Quote
Contribution, safety, trust ain't mean shit if it is expected to done for free.
in my opninion this is like saying "i have valuables in my home but i refuse to buy a safe and i won't lock my door either because i am not getting paid to do so".

thanks for the link
2022  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Community/User based governance for bitcoin on: June 29, 2017, 12:36:19 PM
And why would anybody make investments to run a node?

1. bitcoin is a decentralized peer to peer network so it needs peers. if you want to use and continue to use bitcoin you have to contribute. there are ways to reduce the "cost" of running a full node and still contribute.

2. if you want to use bitcoin in a trustless way you have to use a full node. otherwise you will rely on third parties even if it is SPV clients and you will also lose your privacy since they will know all your bitcoin addresses that are associated with you.

3. read your own personal message under your user name!

4. read this for more and a better explanation: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Full_node#Why_should_you_run_a_full_node.3F
2023  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: We need apps not coins on: June 29, 2017, 12:24:33 PM
Why is all the investment going into more blockchains?
because it is an investment to make money!
nobody is creating a new currency and everyone is instead creating something that can make them more money. and i think it is safe to say 90% of people in this community is also only interested in making more money rather than seeing some usefulness. so developers give them what they want: get rich quick with pump and dumps.

Quote
How do we incentivize programmers to go program apps instead of another coin?
stop wanting money and think about anything else other than profit. both users and developers.
then we will see innovations like what Satoshi Nakamoto introduced.
2024  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Community/User based governance for bitcoin on: June 29, 2017, 12:08:13 PM
...Decred ... users have the power to vote against the (illogical) decision of miners
can you explain a little more about how users vote

Quote
But in bitcoin, users do not have any power to directly influence decisions on bitcoin blockchain level, miners have total control here.
the users in bitcoin are defined by Nodes and if you run a node you will have an influence and can have a say the future of bitcoin.

Quote
Yeah mining is done by miners, they are the backbone,
no they are workers on the network, or simply employees. the nodes are the backbone. if miners change something and majority of the nodes reject it then they have mined a useless junk because the network didn't accept it.

i believe UASF is an appropriate example in this case here.
2025  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Running a blockchain on private network on: June 29, 2017, 12:01:32 PM
the blockchain technology is not just offering decentralization. it is also a fast and secure way of making transactions that can not be changed between nodes. these nodes can be running an open source code like the cryptocurrencies that we know and be decentralized or they can be running a modified and personal version of the technology and be run only be their data centers and be centralized like what banks are planning to do.

i suppose it can be something like this:
all the branches of a certain bank will become a node that will broadcast their transactions to their own network and store the blockchain the same way they are currently storing their customers account info.
2026  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Tipping homeless people with Bitcoin paper wallets on: June 29, 2017, 11:56:56 AM
giving a homeless people bitcoin instead of simple cash is like giving a hungry person spoon, fork, plate, glass in different shapes and sizes but no food!
2027  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How do you Panic? on: June 28, 2017, 11:39:00 AM
Whether its bitcoin trading or altcoin trading, there is bound to come a time when your investment is getting dumped badly, and its panic time.
How do you panic? Does that really make you panic and do you take decisions that you actually regretted later? Or do you keep calm and HODL?
What makes you panic and how do you react to it?

let me introduce you to a nice little feature called stop loss.
you set a number which is usually the percentage that you are willing to lose and then when that number is reached your coins will be automatically sold.
some trading platforms already offer this feature and for others you can always use a bot or even manually at worse case laziness scenario.
it needs a clear plan and a good discipline to perform this strategy though.

of course it is always best to have a good timing. for example when you see there is a bull market and prices are rising (or better if you can figure it out before it starts) you buy and enjoy the ride and when the dumps come you just simply stay away.
and this is not as hard as you may think either.

and as always i will continue t HODL bitcoin no matter what. because i have invested as much as i can afford to lose and i am so far in profit that i no longer care Cool
2028  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Crypto Blood Shed to Green Valley on: June 28, 2017, 11:29:51 AM
haven't you even heard of the term dead cat bounce?

this is the same people who have been panic selling for the past couple of days again hard at work buying these coins back at higher prices they sold at. some of them may even make some profit but majority is just the plaything of the pump and dumpers.
2029  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: In what coin do you guys see the future? on: June 28, 2017, 11:20:59 AM
those guys that invested in btc a dew years back are really lucky now so i wanna know what you guys think about the next cryptocurrency that will rival btc?

so to clarify your question, you are looking for some get rich quick scheme to buy today and become rich in blank days. you are not really asking what coin has real potential, real real-world usage, ...

in which case almost all the altcoins that can get pumped have this potential you are looking for.
how much profit do you want anyways? is 100% satisfactory? how about 6000% in 1 month?
if you look at some price history using an exchange charts you can see all the altcoins satisfy this criteria. you just have to find the best time to get involved.
2030  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Recent market dump and pump on: June 28, 2017, 11:10:07 AM
it is not all the same percentages, it is nearly similar percentages (numbers close to each other) that is totally different. and it is not true about all altcoin, only some of them. many didn't move, many got dumped hard like -50% and many smaller dips.

also most coins you saw are on top and have similar resistance when it comes to getting dumped so they will have similar -% most of the times. and the volumes are the same. which shows people diversify in them the same way. for example if you have 9BTC you put 3BTC in 3 different coins and cash them all out at the same time.
2031  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [BREAKING NEWS] Poland’s Largest Food Delivery Starts Accepting Bitcoin on: June 28, 2017, 11:02:01 AM
i love how with all the stalls and whining of random people on the internet bitcoin is still moving forward as expected and the adoption is growing day by day by real businesses who don't care about all the internal drama and whining Wink
2032  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Feel sorry for the panic traders/investors for selling at low. its now all green on: June 27, 2017, 11:53:46 AM
I bought Ether on 120$ and sell it on 230$, not at 350$ ATH
Never buy on peaks because of FOMO and never sell on dips because of panic.  Is a better strategy.

it is easy to say this now that price has dropped and is dropping. now you change face and say "never sell on dips" but not so long ago (actually 2 days ago) you were singing about how ether is going to $1000 and how it was the "last chance to buy it"

The last chance to buy ETH before Corporations will up the price to 1000$
or you are NUB to buy something on good news.
Always BUY on BAD NEWS.

so you are either lying through your teeth every day with a new lie or you are already in a big loss because you bought into the bubble on the very top.

more from your gems:
I will wait till ETH will reach 10 000 than will probably by a house.
I can not see any other coin potentialy to reach 10k.

This can do only ETH and BTC.
But as I missed BTC train, ETH is my choice atm.

I think we will get 10k about 2020,maybe even earlier.
apparently you changed your mind today:
Sometimes HODL is a newbie strategy as well and panic sell is a key to profit.

the denial has been very strong with you:
I do not see any reason why Ethereum should pop soon?
2033  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: When do we hit the floor? on: June 27, 2017, 11:34:22 AM
it is not the perfect time, it is the riskiest time to buy any of them.
if you are really new try not to be affected by the "i missed a lot of profit" regrets because if you do then you will make a lot of mistakes and lose money.
right now all these altcoins are on the way down. there may be some reversal but investing in those are always much riskier since there is no way of knowing what the floor is.

some may suggest TA, but TA doesn't work on a manipulated and small market that is mostly pump and dumps.
2034  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Feel sorry for the panic traders/investors for selling at low. its now all green on: June 27, 2017, 11:27:45 AM
buying now is pure madness!
what will you earn anyways? 5% profit! and how much risk will you take?
at times like this when price is falling hard it is best to stay away and enjoy the 1000% profit that the pumps gave you and don't bother risking any of it for a small additional profit.
2035  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Poloniex, Exmo, Bittrex? on: June 25, 2017, 11:12:42 AM
none of them because none are regulated and all have the same risk of getting hacked or saying "we were hacked".

if i want to rank them, i would do this:
1. bittrex because it is less crowded and doesn't go down like polo
2. polo because it is the biggest out there.
- the other one i have never heard of!
2036  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Buy more bitcoin or wait for August 1st? on: June 25, 2017, 11:10:14 AM
you know that things have never happened exactly on the same date as the news right?

for example take the Halving event. the hype started months ago before the real halving date or any real supply effect. the price rise happened long before the date that the first 12.5BTC block was mined.

and the effect of August 1st has already hit the market hard by crashing it to $2100 10 days ago.
can it happen again? maybe. but chances aren't that high.
2037  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin is... surprisingly stable today? on: June 25, 2017, 10:57:58 AM
but look where we came )))))

[i m g]https://s.tradingview.com/x/LobQwqaW/[/img]

Please make a dot on this point, that You call "where we are".

if things were this easy and a with a simplified chart you could just predict the market then everyone would have been multi millionaires by now.

this chart that keeps getting posted here is just a simplified version of a reality trying to explain things that happen after they happen. the fact is most of these charts, analysis and other stuff are considered psedu-science and some even call them BS!

p.s.
2038  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: who is holding lowball buy orders? on: June 24, 2017, 03:50:48 PM
- you won't get lucky twice. these golden chances are always once in a life time. like the dip of 2015 when bitcoin price went down to <$180! yeah it is ridiculous now

- keeping funds on any exchange is not a good idea. there is a bigger chance the exchange gets hacked and you lose your money than there is a chance for another big crash!
2039  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin is the better Bitcoin because Charlie is Satoshi! on: June 24, 2017, 03:33:30 PM
Sounds strange. Remain anonymous as founder of Bitcoin, but be public with Litecoin Huh
Also Litecoin was more or less a Bitcoin clone at that time. Why would he refund his own coin Huh

it was a failed attempt of someone trying to pump litecoin and gain some profit but apparently the market didn't agree with him and price has fallen about 3-4% ever since that article Wink
2040  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: A few ?s on how to trade Bitcoins and others on: June 24, 2017, 03:25:59 PM
With poloniex they want me to add money into trade with by adding in Bitcoins that just seems nuts to me for example.
how exactly did they want that? poloniex doesn't even have a fiat deposit option. or at least i have never seen any, they have an altcoin with a similar name called USDT though.

Quote
Let's say I added in Bitcoin that is at say a value of $2700 I use that to then buy other coins and it see a gain of say $100 so i sell the other coins back to bitcoin but in the same amount of time Bitcoin drops to $2600 so after trading fees I have now lost money do to the price of the Bitcoin going up and down over the day.

I would like to trade and buy with US money so lets say I use US money and buy a $2600 bitcoin and it then jumps up to $2700 and I sell it back to US money so i now have $2700 - any fees making a profit as the US money is not going up and down
I see no way to do this with the poloniex trading system.

Am I missing something here with Bitcoin going up and down so much i would not want to use it as the base money to trade with?
i don't quite understand what your confusion is. the fluctuations happen, and there is nothing we can do about it.
besides it is not everyday that price of bitcoin goes up $100 or drops down that big. the big changes are usually rare.
and one benefit of bitcoin is that it always goes up. it has gone up in the past 8 years, that is why traders go to altcoin market and trade with bitcoin to earn more profit on their bitcoin not on their USD.

Quote
It looks like after i ever get approved a few other sites will let me buy in with US money and then buy and trade Bitcoins but they only trade Bitcoins and one other coin so i am left out of trading all the others I want to be able to trade with as I want.

Thanks for any insight on this.
poloniex is an altcoin exchange so they have altcoins listed and there are crap load of altcoins Cheesy
those other sites you saw are bitcoin exchanges which added one or two top volume altcoins. that is why you see limited number of markets.
