20281  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: New 2018 asic miners 28TH maybe soon on: April 27, 2018, 11:03:59 AM
It is a wait and see but would shake the game up if it does 28th at 1300 watts.  My thoughts are we won't ever see 0.05 watt gear.

The limits will be in the 0.06-0.07 range on any gear made
20282  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Halong Mining announces the T2, a 17-17.5TH+ Miner on: April 27, 2018, 04:03:12 AM
I can get the power usage down, but I cannot improve the efficiency any further. In efficient mode the chains are voltage tuned to the lowest stable voltage that produces a good hashrate and is still high enough to keep the chains running reliably. Turning the voltage down any further will only make the chains unreliable I'm afraid which means all I can achieve is lower power usage at the same efficiency.

Still it may be worth 1 lower setting as an option

Even if  you do the same 0.092 or 0.093
Summer is coming for a lot of miners.
A super low setting could be helpful for a hot space.

20283  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Halong Mining announces the T2, a 17-17.5TH+ Miner on: April 27, 2018, 01:37:48 AM
I of the major reasons I kept the T1's rathe then send them back  was the 3 speeds allowed with ck's firmware upgrades.

Firmware that lowers hashrate  but does not  lower  watts per gh is meh.

-ck's firmware dropped watts per gh from .105 to .095

in my setup this = $$

and -ck's throttle feature to prevent over heating = $$ for my setup up.

I would like 1 more lower setting if possible.

something that drops me to 1000 watts  and maybe 0.087 watts a gh
20284  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Troubleshooting and repair guide for AvalonMiner models 721, 741, 761, 821 & 841 on: April 26, 2018, 09:48:34 PM
Does reflashing the firmware fix the issue?

I visited Cryptouniverse guys Thomas and Stefan in Vienna, Austria
and we did some tutorial videos that support the documentation.

Stefan made this quick video for the reflash process.
How to Reflash your Avalonminer 7xx and 8xx Controller
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mCMklnJ5zFo

All videos are available at Cryptouniverse's Youtube channel:
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCInEqiW0nEVRtynoSRipp4Q

I'm going to do some updates to this guide and also add videos for each chapter.

I ordered a kit from amazon.

Proper way to be sure is know you have working gear.
I will order this  make sure it works then put the card I got today in it.  If it works I will run the avalon 841 on friday.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0778CZ97B/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

also burned a scared it does not work.  So when I get the rasp pi from amazon on friday I will have 2 sdcards I can test in it.

Now for me doing a deep thread under hard ware a dead rasp pi is not a big issue.  To a miner looking to do 4 chains of 3 miners total of 12 miners and about 12 x 13 = 156th it is costly.

Even a days wait costs 94 dollars   so if you are going to mine  avalon 841's have an extra rasp pi. an extra full kit is 69 dollars at amazon

this is a full kit

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0778CZ97B/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

with its own working software for other rasp pi ops.

this makes it a perfect diagnostic tool for

dead brick
bad card
bad cable
bad rasp pi

So I now have 2 sc cards burned with correct firmware and I think 1 dead rasp pi board

with a full kit on the way.

When kit comes I will boot rasp pi with included software if that works I will try the 2 cards I have now.  the one I burned and the other one that was included.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3375954.msg35573797#msg35573797 above is link to my review of the avalon 841.

Okay  here is a start on Rasp pi issues.

Why is this my unit came today and the rasp pi is not detected.
I am 99% sure rasp pi does not boot.
I am sure cable is good.
I am sure power brick is good.
I am not sure rasp pi is defective
I am not sure  mini card is defective

Below is what the mini card in the rasp pi looks like.

So if you have a working avalon sd card  does  it look like this one?

I have 11 working units. I can send you a complete one.

My cheapest one purchased was 482+100=582-200 for a net of 382.

Toss on 35 to ship it would be breakeven at 417
20287  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: S9 Hash Problem with Unstable Electricity on: April 26, 2018, 02:45:48 AM
do you use wifi ?

if you do don't

do you use ethernet cable?

how many meters is it?

10 or more meters they can drop out or pick up interference electric plasma welding could do that.

try to find a shielded good quality cat 7 cable for the miner it can help.
20288  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What does it take to mine as a beginner? on: April 26, 2018, 02:20:36 AM
Hi everyone I am very interested in this mining but I do not know where to start and what is needed to mine.
Maybe from friends there who can explain to me that I am not wrong way and succeed.

You need internet access.

Wired is better then wi fi   but good wifi is okay.

internet speed is less important then internet up time.

So less say your internet stays up all the time that is good.

Next you need to be able to provide good power no drop outs.

If you can provide  1 15 amp 120volt circuit just for mining it is good.

If you can provide 1 20 amp 240volt circuit just for mining it is better.

If you can provide 1 30 amp 240 volt circuit just for mining you can earn decent money.

do you have the ability to cool your space?
do you have the ability to stand the noise?

what does your power cost?

what do you have to spend?

how old are you?  we sometimes get people under 18 asking.  I don't like to give a lot of info out to someone that needs parents permission to mine.
20289  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Bitmain registers S11, S11+ and F3 with Russia FSB Protocol on: April 26, 2018, 01:47:01 AM
MyRig has had a long relationship with Bitmain. Dates back to when myrig was bitmain warranty.

But bitmain does not call them a reseller.
20290  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Halong Mining announces the T2, a 17-17.5TH+ Miner on: April 26, 2018, 01:41:10 AM
I think it would be nice if anyone built a sub-KW miner ever again, since not everyone has 1600W PSUs laying around.

yeah  800 watts would be nice.

But even something in the 1200 to 1300 allows 4 in a 30 amp 240 circuit.

and 1 in  15 amp  120 volt circuit.

Now a lot of miners are 1400 to 1700 watts  which kind of stop a 120 volt psu in its tracks.

 I have owned

Evga 1600 g2
evga 1600 p2
evga 1600 t2

cosair ax1500i

rosewill tokamok 1500 titanium.

every one sags under 12 volts running an s-9

11.94  to 11.97    are the most common spots they drop to.
20291  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Halong Mining announces the T2, a 17-17.5TH+ Miner on: April 25, 2018, 11:38:01 PM
I wonder what any of that means. 68 chips doesn't make a lot of sense unless it's a 17x4 running with a full-string voltage around 7V. Maybe by parallel they mean two-phase regulator to handle the current more efficiently? Or two separate strings (17x2) per board, independently tunable?

It would be nice if they get them to do 17th at 93watts a th but it would be hard use on a 1600 watt psu.
20292  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Halong Mining announces the T2, a 17-17.5TH+ Miner on: April 25, 2018, 10:00:48 PM
So if we go by their track record they will ship these running at 16TH since that is officially 'within spec' like with the T1

not one of the six I had did 16.0 at 1480 watts.  that is 0.0925

they all did do 14.00 th at 1300 which is  1300/14000 =  0.093 watts a gh

that 0.093 is good.

if these do   1575 watts over 17000 it would be 0.0928

I think the gear won't do this  even with the 5 chips and better software.

My guess is it does  1500 watts at 16000 gh or close to that. which is  spec for the T1.

my issue would be  I don't want 1500 watt miners 1300 watt are better as 4 go to a 30 amp circuit.

20293  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [8 PH] ckpool.org ZERO FEE SPLNS no registration mining pool on: April 25, 2018, 09:22:47 PM
I am officially a loyal member of ck pool. Just switched my new miner to the server.
I’m in it for the long haul.
Any info on start up time or anything else that’s useful to know about the pool?

How many miners do you have?

I only have one S9, might get more hashing power if new better miners are sold this year

So if we’re doing about a block a month, I should be getting a full share in 5 months approx?

well if we grow faster then that it could drop to   3 months or so.

6.5ph = 1 block a month in terms of shares

13.0 ph = 2 blocks a months in terms of shares

we are running 8  or 9  right now.

so full shares  would take about 3 or 4 months.

Now that is  shares to determine your average.

In the 3 to 4 months
we could hit 1 or 2 blocks bad luck
or we could hit 6 or 7 blocks good luck.

What a lot of people don't realize is you don't lose shares so you can get paid once you stop mining.

I stopped mining after block # 2 and got paid on blocks 3 to 7 each was a bit smaller as we hit them.

So if you mine for 2 months and stop you still can paid for blocks hit.

20295  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: DragonMint T1 16TH/S halongmining.com on: April 25, 2018, 08:09:07 PM
i think ur forgettin a few things here....bitmains s9 is able to do covert ANDDDDDD overt. this means it can turn on asicboost via a firmware change right now blowin the halong miner away. most of all it can switch back to no asicboost and still run which is somethin the t1 cant do. that is a huge diff. y do u keep ignorin these facts and stickin to this pool angle?? y u that close minded?? i remember asking about the price u got and if u thought it was fair but like i said u keep ignoring all of my points and continue repeating the same thing about pools can turn this and that on.

sha256 is not the same as sha256 requiring asicboost. this miner is being compared to the s9 but its not even on the same lvl as the s9. u know this is true. ur wallet....well thats a diff story.

speaking of wallets where is that transaction info showing u paid for the miners. u demanded that i remove the comments about free miners yet i have 0 proof that u paid. we have 100% proof that u didnt mainly because u urself admitted that u didnt pay a dime for them. step up and defend ur claims buddy. a trusted member who isnt influenced by money and or the prospects of free stuff and provided an unbiased "review" shouldnt have ne issues standing behind the claims they make right??

idc what bitmain is tryin to do with other miners. right now im focused on the s9 and the t1 and ur promotion of a miner/white washin of pretty major flaws with the machines.

let me ask this very basic question....if asicboost was killed by a change to bitcoin and all other sha256 coins would this miner still be usable ANDDDDDD if the same thing happened would the s9 still be usable??

you finally posted the real problem bitmain can turn it on and off  not you or me.

and bitmain might force all asicboost to die off just to fuck the dragonmint t1

lets not kid ourselves as to how much power bitmain has in the sha 256 coin.

this miner the t1 directly attacks the bitmain stranglehold on asic boost plain and simple no more and no less.

This is why I am for the miner because bitmain could do huge covert asicboost mining at hashnest  with zero checks and balances.

I don't dislike bitmain I have and continue to purchase from bitmain.  But They don't need to hold a stranglehold on asic boost and not they no longer hold the strangle hold.

And of  course as you say  if bitmian muscles a full and complete block of asic boost the t1 gets bricked.  yes it does.  which knowing bitmain they would if they could.

Personally I like that the t1 popped the strangle hold on asicboost.

and if 1 more big pool  such as f2pool or viabtc would adapt it it would make the t1 a more effective way to lessen the edge bitmain has with hashnest and asicboost tech.

If bitmain does not practice asicboost on hashnest  now fine but if they do there is zero way to check.

WHICH IS FAR BIGGER ISSUE THEN THIS THREAD AND THE T1  which as of today is the only miner trying to stop or lessen bitmain and the asicboost edge they can be using.

Which is why  I don't mind fighting on this thread with you since I will continue to support the T1 since I see it as a viable choice mostly due to -ck's continued firmware developments.

Show me where bitmain has a watts per gh under clock with a heat throttle protection official firmware that will work on the few s-9s I have left.
the T1 does.

If my 13.5th at 1375 watts  s-9 could do 12.5 th and 1150 watts and have a throttle option firmware . Needs to be official firmware.

I would say it is slightly better then the T1.
I am flexible as I let the gear show me what it can do.

the bottom line is every sha coin can allow this to mine
and every sha pool can allow this to mine.

and at 14.5 th pulling 1300 watts it is better then a S-9   since s-9 does not do 14.5th and 1300 watts.

did it do spec of 16.0th and 1480 watts for no  and I never said it did.

Once again Is it 30% better then a s-9  no  and I never said it was.

I said it is slightly better once -ck did some firmware.
I will stand by that claim.

Do I think the T2 is better well that belongs on a different thread.

20296  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Bitmain registers S11, S11+ and F3 with Russia FSB Protocol !scam! on: April 25, 2018, 07:20:19 PM
My sources have a bitmain release in Oct at best.

So  we have

the S-9 long time king  of sha-256 known to break a lot. mines at about .105 watts a gh and 14th

the t-1  only makes its 0.093 watt per gh spec at under clock to 14.5th and mines on only 4 pools due to pool ops refusing to adopt new tech.

the avalon 841 does under 0.099 watt per gh and mines at all pools  but has a heat intake issue you may need rooms to be  at 30c/ 85f or less.

If the bitmain gear does come in Oct-Nov I wonder how well it will mine .  I hear rumors of  20th to 21th and  1350 to 1400 watts

Zero confirmation on this gear. Just some emails from people.

BTW I also hear rumors of other gear due in Dec and Jan

I am fighting with them on this thread  as they simply have a different business style then I do.

But if you have a bank  that will transfer them the money  I think an s11 is worth it.

It's a shame they charge so much extra to use crypto otherwise I might have picked one up but it also looks like it's sold out now too.  Oh well.

20298  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: My review of Avalon 841 No Info yet. on: April 25, 2018, 05:09:07 PM
if they dont send a sorcerer let me know, ill get you one.

So it showed up today.

1 841
1 rasp pi
4 auc dongles
4 usb mini wires
1 five pin

no power supply for the rasp pi
no power supply for the 841

So I pull some power supplies to do testing

and  the rasp pi won't boot  gets warm but no lites so it is either a dead brick - tested that brick is fine

I need to test if the card is dead. or the rasp pi is dead.

I have a card reader I will be looking at the card first.

So a link to what the card looks like

20299  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: DragonMint T1 16TH/S halongmining.com on: April 25, 2018, 04:45:39 PM
The t1  is better then the s-9 if you mine at slush (only when you underclock it down to below what an s9 can handle without asicboost and if u only want to mine 1 coin at a pre selected pool)
the t1 is better then the s-9 if you mine at bitminter (same as the above)
the t1 is better then the s-9 if you mine at any of -ck's 2 pools. (also same as above)

what is the date of black friday phil?? and after answering that please tell me what todays date is. after answering that please tell me how u getting a speacial pricing over others that purchased these machines months ago is somehow ok?? did you put the money down upfront for the miners phil?? also did u pay the price others had to pay except for this limited promo event they did?? i already know the answers to these questions and u do as well. If u dont want to be a shill send the miners back and buy them at the full price and wait months like everyone else did. dont accept miners for free run them make money then ontop of that get a substantial discount on the hardware when u finally get around to buying them and expect ur review to be seen as legit. u were clearly influenced by the company and the free gear. period. theres no argument about that.

also if ur throwin out there that ur makin the payment and so on and so forth be sure to post the info so it can be seen by folks so they can determine how to judge what ur sayin. i can tell u im a millionaire but does that make the statement true?? i would hope u wouldnt lie about making the payment (even though its a specialty price) but considerin how u flipped sides so quickly after receiving free hardware at ur front door its harder to believe what u say.

also i read that halong claimed these miners were 30% more efficient than the s9 when they were selling them to customers. care to chime in on that huge mixup or should we pretend like i didnt ask like u have been with everything else??

The hardware is not free never was free and to be clear.

If people had followed my advice they would have had full info to decide if they should pay for it.

I flipped sides to say the gear was better then the s-9 only after the firmware update from ck got it to do under

.095 watts a gh.

When I received the gear at first I pointed out I was not getting specs and was doing well over .105 watts a gh
It still fails to do 16th at 1480 watts.

It does do 14.5 th at 1300 watts that is better then the s-9 does.
If you want 14.5th at 1300 watts buy this gear.
You will be stuck at four pool choices

But that pool ops are casusing this. Not the gear.

Hidden asic boost will be killed off taking away a bitmain edge that they don’t share with the common miner.

If enough pools allow overt asic boost the big loser is bitmain. Not us.

Btw bitmain knows this and attacked the dragonmint early and hard.

Bitmain also knows this is a lost cause and rather then fight they are switching to ai coin and chips in the b3 Bytom coin as they want to be king in as many Al Gore rhythms as they can.

So I can simply tell you to fuck off but I won’t as I like fighting with you on this thread.

As I know I would not have said the t1 is a little better then the s-9 if I thought it was not.

They don't need one.

So he most likely killed it with the sd card hack.

the questionmark  could be :

I will set it up for you to the pool of your choice if possible. or determine if you killed off the controller.

If you killed the controller  and the boards are good  I can send you one of my 11  and keep yours  plus a bit of coin to pay for the controller.

I read your post closely you have rasp pi's  for your avalon's

detach them  then try to see if it works..  I have had rasp pi's  fuck with other mining gear on my network.

I suspect  the controller is setting  the dhcp to the rasp pi  number.

I had to set both the controller and the rasp pi to static addresses.

Try  running the L3 with no avalon's running  and see if it shows.

I think the issue is caused by some ethernet switches.  and both things set to the same address fucking one up.
