20341  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: cold storage questions on: May 26, 2016, 05:50:40 PM
thanks guys, yes the video is very clear but my question is, is there always going to be a way to get my bitcoins or send them from my paper wallet even in many years?

as long as bitcoin is alive and there miners at work and also as long you have your private keys you can find a wallet or a code that lets you spend your coins.

Quote
also I was reading somewhere that if you only send a portion of bitcoins stored on that address you end up loosing the remaining btc? for example let's say I have 10 bitcoins on that specific address of my paperwallet, and I send 1 btc to a different address then I loose the remaining 9 btc?

that is wrong.
but you should know that when you use your paper wallet by importing the private key in an online wallet (a wallet connected to internet) you will be at risk (the normal risk of getting hacked, having malware, keylogger,...)
solution: use a safe computer, send the rest of the coins to a newly created paper wallet, or you can also sign the transaction offline and only broadcast it online.

what i like to do is this: http://docs.electrum.org/en/latest/coldstorage.html
20342  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you like to hoard your BTC or spend it? on: May 26, 2016, 05:13:18 PM
well, of course i love hoarding bitcoin because it is also like an investment for me and i believe in the future of it hence a higher price : long term hodling

but also i always prefer spending bitcoin when i need to instead of spending fiat using other methods like credit cards or online payment processors.
20343  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin versus Ether: the people difference is everything on: May 26, 2016, 04:59:23 PM
Technology? Supply? Contracts? Let's be frank. I don't give a damn. The microwave oven remains the perfect example of my point. I know how to use but I have no need to understand how it works. Nor do I care.

What matters is people.

i agree with this part. the end user doesn't care about how bitcoin works, they only care that it does work and as long as the come to the conclusion that it is safe and useful that is enough.

although you shouldn't forget that there are still some things that are important when you want to invest your money and purchase those coins in first place. for example in case of ETH two things bother me that i would never go for using it: 1) it has already a massive supply which is probably(?) endless too 2) it is controlled by those who have the largest amount from the start (before the launch) so dump at any second is feared.

BTC is ungoverned. We've seen that the BTC Core team is unable to fix problems (or way to slow). Will the foundation make a comeback? Satoshi Nakamoto? I would have liked Craig Wright to be Satoshi, he would make a nice ambassador.

i think CW was too shady to represent bitcoin and he had some legal issues also.
20344  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: why is there one hour gap between blocks that are mined? on: May 26, 2016, 04:42:34 PM
ok let me explain to you all what rank means on a forum:
it doesn't mean i am a bitcoin developer now, or have a complete knowledge or understanding of bitcoin and how it works,... and never claimed it either!
it only means that i have been Using bitcoin and bitcointalk for a long time.

and although i am interested in learning about the technical stuff about bitcoin and have also gathered some knowledge over the years i still don't know everything about bitcoin and there are still lots of things i don't know or misunderstood after i read things. which might sound to you as "basic"

and in the end i am mostly interested in using bitcoin not learning every single detail about it, i only know and am interested to know what seems important or interesting to know  Cheesy

and just FYI, i own this account from 2014-9
20345  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: why is there one hour gap between blocks that are mined? on: May 26, 2016, 09:49:21 AM
thanks you franky1 for the explanation.

"Hero member", sig campaign, nearly 3000 posts...  yet not a clue of Bitcoin basics.
This is disgraceful.
This "1 hour" block prop, or "1 miniute" block prop has always been, and will always be.
Now you noticed?
Clueless sig campaign hero BCT members, helping to destroy BCT credibility.
PLEASE REVOKE THIS USERS "HERO MEMBERSHIP"   Huh
seriously.

if you think asking about a simple thing that i have never noticed before in the past two years in bitcoin destroys BCT credibility then you are clueless.
20346  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is your money aim? At which point you would go in "retire"? on: May 26, 2016, 07:31:04 AM
there is no end to humans ambition!
so it doesn't matter how much bitcoin (money) you have, you will always want more. besides doing things like trading is not that hard you can only reduce the amount of time you spend and take less risks if you have hit your goal and still continue doing it.
20347  Other / Off-topic / Re: Will you quit your day job to go full time on bitcoin? on: May 26, 2016, 07:28:05 AM
Quitting my job for the bitcoin is a whole sacrifice and I will never do this because I also have a family that I have to feed and because of that its not worth it in my eyes.

so you think that bitcoin could not make a living for your family? there are a lot of some of my friends have a family and children, but they have gone full time for bitcoin, yes because they can get greater results from their previous work. they can get 1-5 BT /month

Its not possible for everyone to earn that amount in bitcoin per month, and to be honest my salary in fiat is more then 5 btc, then why should I quit my job.

if you are right, that you get a salary of more than 5 BTC, but why would you still join the signature campaign in this forum? I myself honestly, if I have a salary of more than 5 BTC. I will use my time to get bigger, than Siganture campaign.

Maybe he is giving value to btc that he can earn with it, even though it is for a small amount he is valuing it. For me, if I have a salary of 5 btc and there is a opportunity that could give me an extra income and it suits my schedule , why not grab it?

salary of 5 BTC means a salary of $2250 at the current price.
so ask yourself this, what can you do to earn this much in real life? then you can easily do that and earn $2250 and simply buy bitcoin with it!
but such amount is not easy to earn you have to work for it real hard and wise. otherwise you cannot earn it with signature campaign ans faucet works!!!
20348  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Halving Foresight on: May 26, 2016, 07:21:54 AM
What do you think on Bitcoin Halving will it increase its prize? or it's gonna break?

Someone say's that if its gonna break, doge litecoin etherium will be the next to bitcoin.

what do you think? Huh Huh Huh

whoever said that was just trying to pump those altcoins and attract some newbies to buy into his sell walls that is all.
coins like litecoin are just a copy of bitcoin with nothing interesting to offer.

and also coins like Doge and ethereum with their endless supply (massive amount of available coins) can never become successful because the amount of supply is always a lot more than the amount of demand (in simple words: dump is stronger and bigger)
20349  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: why is there one hour gap between blocks that are mined? on: May 26, 2016, 07:18:34 AM
A New block just mined 2 minutes before. and previous block was mined 5 minutes before. only 3 minutes deference between them, seems now everything is working fine...
I am also wondering what happened with mining pools. why it stopped for almost one hour. why blocks are stopped for one hour..  Huh Huh Huh

yeah i edited my post to change the title so that it matches the current situation.

i don't know if this has happened before or not but i have never seen more than 20 min gap between blocks.
20350  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Investing bitcoins on: May 26, 2016, 07:16:14 AM
you can start trading with the amount you have. but if you are just starting it, try to invest small amounts then increase it over time.

also there are some Casinos that accept investments in their bankroll, it is risky but it is a valid investment.

20351  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / why is there one hour gap between blocks that are mined? on: May 26, 2016, 07:06:18 AM
the new blocks are supposed to be mined every 10 minutes but sometimes i see shorter or longer time between blocks but right now the last block was mined about an hour ago?

what is up?

EDIT:

can anyone explain why this happened?
20352  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin without Altcoin ? on: May 25, 2016, 03:24:49 AM
I see a lot of answers bitcoin can live with itself.

I dont really know much about that because I am still not knowledgeable regarding altcoins. But I know that it all started with bitcoin.
of course all Startlingly on bitcoin. bitcoin is the originator or cryptocurrency first created and with bitcoin phenomenon that began to be popular then lots of smart people who wants to follow bitcoin and create a new cryptocurrency. but bitcoin first born and famous. bitcoin will survive even stand alone as when you first start

Agree. New technologies might provide innovation, but it took a while for the trust in btc as an actual currency to build. It was hard fought actually, and outside of this community, I see no widespread adoption of any of the alts. That will change, but in time.

none of the altcoins is known outside of the community and you can not find even one single person who knows about an altcoin and doesn't know about bitcoin first. besides all these altcoins are dying one way or another without any actual usage.
20353  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Coinbase falling is a big deal on: May 25, 2016, 03:19:23 AM
yeah, i agree with this. if CoinBase does a scam/falls or closes down or whatever that would be so bad for bitcoin community because it is one of the easiest ways for NEW people to get into bitcoin by doing everything in one place: buying-selling-holding as a wallet.

although i have not yet seen any indication of them falling!
20354  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading Bitcoin With Altcoin or Dollar on: May 25, 2016, 03:14:45 AM
I read lots of success stories on how someone grow his coins with bitcoin.I want to know which is most profitable trading Altcoin/Bitcoin or Bitcoin/Dollar
I tried bitcoin/dollar with some small amount but didn't get any good results

i personally prefer trading altcoin/bitcoin pair always. because i have also tried trading bitcoin/fiat and didn't find it that much profitable for myself, although i still do it sometimes when the price is volatile but trading altcoins has more benefits in it.
20355  Economy / Economics / Re: If Bitcoin had a stable price, would it still be as popular? on: May 25, 2016, 03:10:26 AM
I think People would never had love it then. Bitcoin is very popular as investment among many due to it's flexibility. It has very high potential and it's price is improving day by day.

Big company also use ETH so it keep affect bitcoin value even they had stable price.
Also bitcoin value still high so there will be more interest to hold bitcoin  before reach halving

ETH is still depending on bitcoins, if bitcoins have decrease its price, probably ETH will also down.
It has a domino effect to all alt coins and bitcoin is their mother coin.
Maybe as of now but if that altcoins have already established their names in the crypto industry then we can see them being independent and have a stable price too.

well, an altcoin needs to be good in the first place. this means not scam behind the scene, no premine, IPO, ICO, which all means it shouldn't be controlled by a few altcoin rich people who are holding the majority of the coin because they will pump and dump it as they please until they get bored.
20356  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC going up for 500$ again ? ::) on: May 25, 2016, 03:00:00 AM
we are coming back to $450 again slowly and as i expected eth seems like being dumped and slowly going down so that market cap is coming back to bitcoin again. it was just a temporary thing that happened and soon we will be back on track.
20357  Other / Off-topic / Re: What is your plan to get rich with Bitcoin? on: May 25, 2016, 02:50:15 AM
best plan to get rich with bitcoin is HOLD your coins, bitcoin is rare and its price will skyrocket very soon when more peopl starts using it.

Good plan though it does seem to good to be true. Lets not get to overexcited and greedy; at the end of the day we should remember that money is supposed to be spent and we shouldnt forget about our loved ones. Earning more than you need and not using it is really kinda sad.

Well said. Money is supposed to be a tool to make our lives better, not the thing that controls our lives. But right now, bitcoin is not anywhere near mass adoption, well not yet. Maybe in a few year's time, when there are more merchants introduced to the bitcoin tech, we would be able to use bitcoin as what we do with our cash.

The love of money is the root of all evil things, if you will be contented on what you have in your living, that is
a good thing. But if you think your daily living is not enough for you, that is also good to have a dream and plan
to be rich, money is important. But once money controlled you, well you will become greedy.

what?! we all need money and can't live without earning it. and everybody likes to become rich if you call that love of money then you are wrong.
actually it is good to have dreams and make good plans from those dreams in order to make those dreams a reality.
20358  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should Bitcoin even have a future? on: May 25, 2016, 02:45:56 AM
stop thinking about replacing stuff with bitcoin and you are good to go. i don't see why we are even talking about "replacing" the banking system. even if this is possible that would be a matter for a very long time in the future.
20359  Economy / Exchanges / Re: YoBit.net on: May 25, 2016, 02:42:34 AM
Hello.
Can someone give me tutorial about https://yobit.net/

Thanks Smiley

tutorial about what part?
is there anything specific that you want to learn about yobit exactly or are you looking for learning how to trade and use an exchanger.

if it is the later, i suggest using another exchanger like bittrex instead and also be specific about your question so we can help you.
