2041  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does Bitcoin Has What It Takes To Replace Fiat? on: April 22, 2015, 06:51:09 PM
Does Bitcoin Has What It Takes to Replace Fiat?

At the moment, no.  We're still early days and proof of concept stage.  Laying the tracks or building blocks so to speak.

Can it?  Maybe.  Maybe not.  Let's not try to topple a currency that's been in rule for centuries.  It takes time for next generation money to succeed the old order.

Let's just focus on trying to be a viable alternative first, before we talk about replacing something so ingrained into the world's mind....
2042  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: OpenBazaar Beta 0.4.0 “Portobello” is released for Linux and OSX on: April 22, 2015, 06:40:20 PM
It is relatively easy to set up a dual boot option for Linux on a Windows PC.

What about Grandma that just wants to sell her knitting creations for Bitcoin on Openbazaar, because her Grandson said it's the marketplace of the future?

She's just fucked, and has to resort to getting raped with fees on eBay I guess.
2043  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I invented this ask me a question on: April 22, 2015, 03:10:43 PM
NICE, we finally found the real Satoshi fellas!  Preach on, jyakulis, preach.

2044  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Which Bitcoin Exchange do you use and why ? on: April 22, 2015, 03:02:59 PM
Come on Gemini and Noble Markets!  Launch already!   Grin

Guess the Bitlicense is the major hold up for these game changing Bitcoin exchanges set to stir up the landscape.

2045  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Centralization in the Bitcoin Ecosystem Inevitable? on: April 22, 2015, 02:46:37 PM
I believe there is room for both decentralizatioin and centralization for the Bitcoin Ecosystem.

Certain aspects will remain decentralized, like obvious things.  Blockchain, the cryptocurrency itself, the end users transacting among each other.  Decentralized exchanges, decentralized marketplaces, etc..

There are also cases for Centralization with the regulated exchanges and payment processors.  Coinbase and Bitpay are two of the largest entities in the whole Bitcoin ecosystem and do their part in pushing Bitcoin forward, centralized or not.

Doesn't have to be one or another, there is more than enough space for both.
2046  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: OpenBazaar Beta 0.4.0 “Portobello” is released for Linux and OSX on: April 22, 2015, 02:20:45 PM
Why is there no Windows version?  Makes zero sense to me.

Perhaps security is higher up on their priority list than popularity.

You don't actually believe that as a Hero member, do you?  If you've been around technology long enough, you know that Windows is insecure thing is a myth.  OF COURSE most of the security threats happen on Windows desktops, they own 90% desktop marketshare for chrissakes.

That's just an elitist excuse....
2047  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: OpenBazaar Beta 0.4.0 “Portobello” is released for Linux and OSX on: April 22, 2015, 02:13:33 PM
That's awesome! Can't wait for the Windows version.
Windows version won't see the light of day for a while, they said it would come out like 6 months ago.

Why is there no Windows version?  Makes zero sense to me.

You guys want OpenBazaar to succeed and become the future of decentralized marketplaces, but don't release a version for the largest user base in the world?

Ass backwards, developers that's a come on man!

They've been working on it but never released it, I guess all the devs use linux or mac.

It's not even a Windows vs OSX or Windows vs Linux debate.  It's know your demographic:

I mean we all want Bitcoin to succeed as a whole, but then we have this whole smell of elitism amongst us.  This has got to stop.  Put OpenBazaar on Windows!  It's common sense.....
2048  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: russia bitcoin ban on: April 22, 2015, 02:08:17 PM

Bitcoin has also died 43 times.

Goddangit!  Why is every other thread mentioned the untimely demise of our beloved Bitcoin.   Cry

Welp, that's it.  Stick a fork in her, she's done....

Shame on all of you
Scared of women getting interested in Bitcoin?

Is this the end of the Crypto-Patriarchy as we know it? We can't both be only a brotherhood and at the same time not letting any new people into the community.

I welcome it!  I want women in Crypto.

Think about it.  Half of all humans are women.  Why wouldn't I want the fairer sex to jump into Crypto and pump up our favorite form of money.   Grin

2050  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 12 Million people use Bitcoin today according to XAPO's CEO on: April 22, 2015, 01:56:43 PM
12 million people is a generous number I personally think.  I mean Coinbase just barely passed 2 million wallets and Blockchain.info 3 million wallets recently.

I'm fairly certain we're closer to half that 12 million figure or like 5 million total global, world wide.

Not sure where Xapo got their info, but Juniper Research said we'd crack my 5 million user figure by year 2019:

2053  Economy / Speculation / Re: Do you think 1.00 BTC will worth more than $10,000.00 USD at any time in 2015? on: April 22, 2015, 01:40:08 PM
At this point in time with more than a quarter of year in the books, time to put away the pipe for $10000 BTC.

Let's focus on mainstreaming, getting the word out there, get as much people that are willing to at least own a BTC wallet.

Let's continue to stay positive, gain momentum, buy, hoard, and spend little.  Let's cross $300 and stay above it!
2054  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I want to buy ps4 games from newegg. on: April 22, 2015, 01:35:18 PM
I want to buy ps4 games from newegg. But bitcoin price is going up. So if i wait a month i can get more games for the same amount of bitcoin.
But i want to buy the games now. I don't know what to do.

No one can tell you.  A single PS4 game is not a ton to spend.   If you buy a lot yes it will add up.

I would suggest spending cash over btc if your buying many games.  I personally like to save coins.
But its much easier to use btc to buy things online.
So i guess i'll buy fewer games today, then i'll buy back the btc that i spend.
Thanks.

Do you have a credit card?  I don't see how BTC is that much easier then credit card.

Either one is a easy way to order.   And both are accepted by newegg.

This the correct advice to follow in this particular thread.

For that $50 or $60 in BTC, just use a credit card or cash instead.  Save that BTC if you're accumulating at this relatively low price.

Spend that BTC on games when it costs fractions to pay for it;IE 0.025 BTC than 0.25 BTC today.
2055  Other / Off-topic / Re: If BTC goes to $1000 or more, what would you do? on: April 22, 2015, 01:02:07 PM
If BTC goes to $1000 or more, what would you do?

I might slam my fist on the table, hit myself in the back of the head, and scream FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK at the top of my lungs.

Feelings of pain and regret for not accumulating more...
2056  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Did you earn some bitcoin today? on: April 22, 2015, 12:59:04 PM
Did I earn some Bitcoin today?

Yessir.  Thanks to my favorite Sig campaign of all time!  If you can somehow join this campaign, do it!

2057  Other / Off-topic / Re: Are you spending your Bitcoin? on: April 22, 2015, 12:57:18 PM
Now's not the time to spend at this low price.  Now's the time to accumulate as much as you can.

Gots to Scrooge McDuck it.  Spend little, but hoard like a motherf#cka.

Trust me, you'll know when it's time to spend it, and 2015 is not quite the year...
2058  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Regulation The End For Bitcoin? on: April 22, 2015, 12:48:46 PM
if you don't want to get regulated you can't be any geek off the street. you gotta be handy w/ the steel if you know what i mean, earn your keep

Regulate by Warren/G, nice one, gonna listin it tonight, longtime ago that I heard that song.

REGULATORS!  MOUNT UP!!

Nothing like 90s Hip Hop.  Real creativity and music, no BS like today's.

That said Bitcoin itself is in "1990's" so to speak, if were to correlate Bitcoin to the Internet, growth wise.
2059  Economy / Speculation / Re: when will we be degoxed? on: April 16, 2015, 04:38:08 PM
Bitcoin needed Gox'ing as a hard lesson learned.  They always say history is the greatest teacher, and though painful, was necessary for Bitcoin to survive and thrive.

With the advent of Noble markets, Gemini, imminent launch of GBTC and COIN, it's all a matter of time before the memory of Gox will be in the rear view mirror.
2060  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why One Bitcoin Core Developer Thinks Cryptocurrencies Have A Dreadful Future on: April 16, 2015, 03:31:38 PM
Wrong or right, good thing Bitcoin is a consensus decentralized open source invention that doesn't bend to the whim of one person or one party.

Bitcoin has it's faults and rough edges.  It's not perfect and will go through some growing pains and regulatory hoops.  That's what I took personally from that article about Peter Todd.   Smiley
