The name is forking in blockchain

2x money for bitcoin holders

Oh, Indeed! 2x money for the bitcoin holders you just have to save your bitcoins in to the right wallet or exchange platform and get double of your initial coins whenever there's new fork "chain-split", so this is a win-win for us guys. there's no need to be worried!
2042  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Gwyneth Paltrow Joins Bitcoin Wallet Abra as Advisor on: August 03, 2017, 10:57:49 AM
what is she gonna bring to the party? i thought her main business these days was brain washing women into eating broccoli stalks.

Lol Smiley don't be silly my friend, she has more to offer than anyone of us could imagine because she is a star and star got huge media publicity over everything they do, they are role models to so many people nowadays. whatever they do or follow; people do it too because people like them so much.
2043  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Gwyneth Paltrow Joins Bitcoin Wallet Abra as Advisor on: August 03, 2017, 10:35:52 AM
Wow, that is a welcome development! we want more actors and actresses from Hollywood to join the bitcoin and cryptocurrency ecosystem because the more they joined the more news headline and media publicity we gonna get. The more headlines we get the more popular bitcoin is gonna become. Don't underestimate the power of these Hollywood guys, they are so powerful in terms of product promotion. So, we hope more and more of them will join the bitcoin community in the future. Smiley

Now we got 3 Celebrities on-board:

Floyd "Money" Mayweather - Stox.com ICO

Gwyneth Paltrow - Abra Bitcoin Wallet

Thomson Reuters - BlockOne IQ "Startup Incubator Program"

2044  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / What is the purpose of FBI seizure of BTC-e? on: August 03, 2017, 10:28:23 AM
I was curious about why FBI seized BTC-e. What is the reason behind the seizure of BTC-e by FBI?

I want to invest some serious money in to BTC & ETH and I don't want to lose my hard earned money to some funks called FBI.

Is American Government and FBI against the use of bitcoins and cryptocurrency or what Huh

Confirm. Poloniex is still not working for me while i'm not using any vpn / proxy / tor etc. I'm afraid that after those issues would be solved it will cause a huge wave of panic withdraws and it's reputation may suffer.

So it wasn't seized yet like BTC-E this time?  As this pic tried to suggest: https://i.imgur.com/DLifhvU.jpg

I think Alphabay, Hansamarket, BTC-E and Poloniex are the biggest ones that will be taken down in 2017.

DONT LEAVE YOUR COINS ON POLONIEX. The day it's taken down is approaching

Poloniex was having some technical difficulties:

Trading has been halted while we work to restore connectivity. This may take some time.

But now Poloniex back online and fully working Smiley

what yall think? exit scam? seizure? or real tech problem?

Doesn't seems like an exit scam or seizure to me, rather technical problem or DDoS by some attackers. I was wondering why site like Polo did not implemented some high tech anti-DDos attack parameters or at least install Cloudflare CDN on their web servers to avoid local DoS attacks from script kiddies. 2051  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin overcome Paypal? on: August 02, 2017, 02:57:07 PM
Do you think that sometime in the future, Bitcoin might overcome Paypal, as it scales in capacity and userbase over the years?

We already have the ability to create our own marketplace with OpenBazaar, that uses Bitcoin as its payment method, so it should be no surprise that the combination of these two may be a fierce competition for both eBay and Paypal.

Nevertheless, feel free to vote on the poll above and express your opinion about it, if desired.  Grin

Surely someday Bitcoin will overtake PayPal because PayPal operates on certain countries while bitcoin operates globally. Bitcoin provides all the security and privacy that people needs while on the other hand PayPal requires a valid identity. PayPal transaction fees is way higher than Bitcoin transaction fees. PayPal will surely be beaten by bitcoin in time, we just have to sit back and relax and wait for the time for bitcoin to takeover PayPal. Grin
2052  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Safe to make transactions now?! (2 august 2017) on: August 02, 2017, 02:35:01 PM
Hi everyone,
I was wondering whether can be safe to make transactions now without they get lost in the network ending in loosing bitcoin.
I've tried to make a transaction two hours ago for 0.007 btc (o.001 btc fee) and seems to work properly as I already received 6 confirmations.
Before proceeding with a larger sum I wanted to know who experienced delays or whathever else...
Thanks

Everything is okay now, you may read it from the top on "forum news bar" saying:

ALL CLEAR: You can now use Bitcoin as you were previously. For more info, including how to claim your BCH (optional), see here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2059111.0
2053  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Bittrex Takes the Lead in Bitcoin Cash Trading Volume on: August 02, 2017, 02:18:57 PM
The great Bitcoin fork has just happened and things are going smoothly so far, there have been no blockchain reorganizations and no further sub forks. Currently Bitcoin Cash’s blockchain is 50 blocks behind the main chain, putting it roughly 8 hours behind. The reason for this lag is because it took miners quite a while to find the first block, some people panicked when a block couldn’t be found, but eventually one was found by ViaBTC.

Before the fork, only 3 exchanges traded BCH. Specifically, ViaBTC, HitBTC, and Kraken were the only platforms supporting the coin, with the asset trading at more than double the price on HitBTC providing an insane opportunity for arbitrage. As the fork commenced, nearly half a dozen exchanges added Bitcoin Cash trading pairs. According to Coinmarketcap, Bittrex has taken the lead with 30% trading volume.

2054  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Where to trade BCC? on: August 02, 2017, 02:14:04 PM
All exhanges that I have checked have their deposits closed.

What exchange does allow deposits in BCC?

Have you checked "Bittex & Kraken" Huh I think there are a lot of exchange sites that still have their deposit open.

Please, check the following exchange platforms, ViaBTC, VTER, HitBTC, YoBit, and Cryptopia.
2055  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: WHY BCC PRICE KEEPS INCREASING on: August 02, 2017, 01:37:57 PM
If you don't want to be late, get on board now! How much BTC did you buy in 2010???

The way I see it is the players that wanted this fork have enough resources to inflate it temporarily. If they had enough resources to spin up 4000 nodes on AWS (by a single actor, mind you, that's super "decentralized") they have enough to buy everyone's BCC for a while to see if they can generate exactly what your experiencing...the "i'm gonna miss the boat"  syndrome.  The same way a large wall street bank might buy a ton of shares of something they want to pump up or that is perhaps failing in their heads.....to get other people to go...hey...look at that thing, it's going through the roof, we better buy too. However, that can only last so long before they make a choice as to harden their position or cut their losses and return.

Only time will tell if the price will stabilize, drop, rise. It's not predictable. If enough people think their alt coin is viable...then time will show that and the price will rise. If you think it's going to keep going up...by all means then you should buy some.
The players involved aren't stupid, and they seem to have at least some sort of longish...well at least not short term....plan, as any smart entity would when wanting to create a fork, a sustainable fork. Anyone can create a fork, I can make a new fork and mine my own blocks. The question is ... will anyone follow.

Trading on exchanges isn't a real good indicator, they can move their own coins around making look like tons of trades, which also inflates the price. Time is the only true indicator. I know,..... probably not the answer you were looking for.......

Wow, good analysis! I think BCC price keeps increasing because more people are putting their money in to it, thinking may be the price will get higher and then sell it. As I was saying few days back "BCC will take advantage of Bitcoin, as the price of Bitcoin is higher more people want to invest in to it but they can't because it's too expensive for them. They are looking for cheaper alternative which is now BCC". So Bitcoin built itself to the certain level which is worth a lot and now BCC will take advantage of that as cheaper altcoin of Bitcoin.
2056  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [BREAKING NEWS]: It Is Now 1st August 00:00 UTC on: August 01, 2017, 01:00:13 AM
Nothing has happened in concrete so far, correct?
Zilch so far.

https://www.btcforkmonitor.info

Following it through there, thank you.

I've already seen exchanges like Yobit crediting users that had BTC there with the equivalent BCC.

Can this already be done by users that have wallets such as Electrum, etc?

Thank you!
I haven't looked into that. I am waiting for the dust to settle before I will be moving anything.
Wow, it's officially Aug. 1st - The "D-Day!" we have to keep an eye on https://www.btcforkmonitor.info to see the "chain-split" update!
2057  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Bitcoin Cash - hold or dump? on: July 31, 2017, 11:44:26 PM
My advice here; you should hold your BCC for a while to see how it may survive. Don't just dump the BCC like that because we don't know for sure how much BCC is going to worth in the future. Just try and hold it for like two to three months and see how it may perform in the cryptocurrency space. Smiley
2058  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How many people are asking you about Bitcoin now? on: July 31, 2017, 02:49:09 PM
I've been talking about Bitcoin to family, friends and random people for years and nobody seemed to mind when BTC was under $1000. But now that Bitcoin has reached $2000, people are starting to realize that owning 1 BTC is beginning to be out of reach for the average person.

I've had more people ask me about Bitcoin lately and wanted help buying Bitcoins. What about you?

Almost everyday for now, few years back when I stated telling my friends about the bitcoin they thought I was just messing around saying something that will never happen yet everywhere they go on the internet they see the bitcoin headline. Bitcoin has now become the most popular topic on web that's why everybody is talking about, and the value of bitcoin keep appreciating and more people are now trying to jump in to it. Grin
2059  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Support for Bitcoin Cash - Exchanges says NO on: July 31, 2017, 08:45:34 AM
Top 3 Exchanges Confirming Support for Bitcoin Cash Trading.

With the Bitcoin Cash hard fork almost upon us, cryptocurrency exchanges find themselves in another awkward position. Even though we have gone through a similar struggle when Bitcoin Unlimited was announced, it now appears that multiple exchanges will support BCC trading. Regardless of how people feel about the Bitcoin Cash hard fork, the token is becoming real come August 1st.

1. ViaBTC

One exchange jumped the gun and already enabled BCC trading a few days ago. ViaBTC, best known for their Bitcoin mining pool, also run an exchange platform where Bitcoin Cash is actively traded right now. Initially, the company provided a BCC/CNY trading market, but they subsequently added a BCC/BTC market as well. When Bitcoin Cash was listed initially, its price briefly hit US$900.

2. OKEX

The OKCoin exchange team made an interesting announcement earlier today. The company will support the Bitcoin Cash hard fork (BCC). However, they will do so on the OKEX platform, rather than on the OKCoin exchange itself. Bitcoin Cash will introduce a radical hard fork to increase the overall Bitcoin block size, and it seems very likely that some miners will support this scaling proposal come August 1st.  As long as there is support for the BCC token, exchanges can officially list it as a trading market.

OKEX plans on listing two different trading markets for future versions of Bitcoin. One will be the BCC market, which relates to Bitcoin Cash. The company will also open a BCS trading market, which pertains to the BIP91 version of Bitcoin. No one can be certain which of these chains will become the main Bitcoin. Both tokens will be traded against Bitcoin until August 1st, after which time balances will be converted in the form of 1 BCS + 1 BCC equaling 1 BTC. BCS will eventually be renamed to BTC, assuming that it is the longer chain.

3. Livecoin

Although Livecoin is a smaller altcoin exchange, the company wants to show its support for Bitcoin Cash. In an official company post, Livecoin announced that they would support future Bitcoin forks. While the company mentioned there may be between two and four Bitcoin forks in the future, just two versions of Bitcoin will be created based on the current information. We will see Bitcoin as we know it and additionally the Bitcoin Cash token, known as BCC.

Considering that the BCC token does not exist right now, the company will do whatever they can to credit users’ account balances with Bitcoin fork tokens in the future. This also means they will support BCC come August 1st, though it remains to be seen if users’ balances will be credited on that date. Trading of new forks will be enabled as well, although no official dates have been announced at this time. It remains to be seen what type of trading markets we can expect.

2060  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: After Aug. 1st - Will Bitcoin Die? Will Bitcoin Crash? Will BCC Surpass BTC??? on: July 31, 2017, 08:24:59 AM
“Bitcoin may die!”, “Bitcoin will crash!”, “Bitcoin may fork!”, “BIP148 vs BIP91”, “August 1 is D-day!“ are some of the confusing articles and comments you might have seen or heard in recent weeks. In this article, I’ll try to unpack what is probably (and probably not) happening to your Bitcoin in the coming weeks and what’s behind the latest headlines.

For many years, the Bitcoin community has been locked in what is known as the great scaling debate. What might seem like a simple problem (Bitcoin is becoming slower and more expensive to use), with a simple solution (increase the block size or implement another way to transfer Bitcoin altogether) quickly becomes complicated, technical and even political.

What is your thoughts on this issue???

My thoughts are that you must be Werner van Rooyen or a reasonable facsimile thereof.

https://www.luno.com/blog/en/post/scaling-bitcoin-forks-disruptions  < is that you?

Oh come on, I'm just another guy that is trying to have a good bitcoin discussion here with fellow bitcoiners Smiley
