Was BCNext developing a new currency? I recall someone (Come-from-Beyond?) mentioned it somewhere few days ago, here or at next coin.org. But I cannot find the post anymore. Even the name of the project was mentioned and something about five or six months if I recall.. Just curious. It was a reply for someone asking about BCNext leaving the board.

it is project Come from Beyond was working on before Nxt and he will continue. The link is at his signature Smiley It has probably nothing to do with BCNext

"Written from scratch, in C. Not the Java crap that NXT uses (with all the code in one file lol)"
pretty immature to say..

1. Are you anonymous? Why are you anonymous?

2. In what dialect was Neon a greek equivalent for Novum? Maybe if you use neutrum... But no, Latin Novum in old Greek was singular "Neoi" or plural "Neos", but no Neon or even Neons.

btw there is a nice marketing idea for the conferences - to hand out cards with instructions how to get a Nxt account and also with a QR password (and without QR) to the account with 2 Nxt - they will use it to transfer 1 Nxt to their new account Smiley + maybe some VIP/Lottery cards with 10 Nxt accounts, so people can use them also for their friends/colleagues
2047  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: January 05, 2014, 09:09:28 PM
it will always be the "Next" generation, so if others will use second, we will still be ahead of them as the next gen
2048  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Nxt source code analysis (QA) on: January 05, 2014, 06:47:17 PM
hello experts,
I am gathering your citations about the code and about BCNext, for videos and video documents... I would like to ask you if you can write about the ideas implemented in the code, if it is innovative and maybe - how smart is BCNext? Can we compare him with any scientist/inventor? It can be only 1-2 sentences...

NXT's beauty is in the algorithms and maths that have brought forward the state-of-the-art.  I seriously doubt the creator cares about keeping tidy with the code.  In fact, I know quite a few genius computer scientists who produce really ugly, stupid code.  However, that doesn't matter one iota when the algorithms are groundbreakingly better than anything that's come before.

Our investment is in the extremely clever people behind the NXT project.  Computer science and software engineering, though related, are different things.  I am glad the NXT has a computer scientist like BCNext behind it who actually has new ideas and can bring them to life, no matter how messy the code may be.  New capabilities are something that has been missing from every other alt coin that has come before NXT.

As I said, some really great computer scientists do not follow great software engineering principles, but their code does things no one else's can.  And that, my friend, is the point.

Bcnext is a freaking genius. I worked so hard to try to figure something out like this myself to no avail. What i proposed in my thread is a far cry from this much better solution.

That we are not investing in source code, we are investing in the algorithms, the big ideas (BCNext) and the huge community supporting NXT.

Computer science and software engineering, though related, are different things.  I am glad the NXT has a computer scientist like BCNext behind it who actually has new ideas and can bring them to life, no matter how messy the code may be.  New capabilities are something that has been missing from every other alt coin that has come before NXT.

I know that this is about fees and not generating currency, but the concept of adjusting system metrics, based off daily transactional statistics is something I've looked at and thought about for a loooooong time.  I think we could do the same type of thing here.

Ricky can you. track down drexme as well?  He absconded with the nextcoin donation acct with 33k nxt in it

What the heck, I don't have enough time to do all the other stuff I gotta do, so sure, I'll take him on later next week.  One crusade at a time.   Grin

Really, I thought he handed the donation fund to Opticalc.  I know because he sent my 25k back to me.  Also, Drexme was extremely helpful with getting the client up and running for me and others, he seemed like a pretty honest person.
so once again Cheesy

What do we know about drexme:

Providing escort with linking on the account with 100 Nxt:
https://nextcoin.org/index.php/topic,1437.msg12148.html#msg12148

Created a giveaway, collected 35k Nxt, deleted Giveaway topic. This is Drexme's giveaway account:
http://87.230.14.1/nxt/nxt.cgi?action=3000&acc=7161646874450697154

14 days ago it was cashed out to the Dgex...

(also 18.12. were some 25K sold probably via msin's escort, but these money could be originally Drexme's)

Drexme's account also cashed 14 days ago:
http://87.230.14.1/nxt/nxt.cgi?action=3000&acc=8333778433828768082

1. cashed Nxt from personal account:
21.12.2013 03:44:59      6635869272840226493   100,000

2. transfered remaining Nxt from personal to bounty:
21.12.2013 20:30:11      8333778433828768082   2,301

3. all sold to dgex:
21.12.2013 20:32:46      6635869272840226493   33,900

Where did you get your client from?

From official link, hash matches. I think it did it before, in 4.8 or 4.9. Seems like it does this on startup, every time I denied it.

Maybe it's java auto-update or something? I will look more into it a bit later.

just google it Smiley

Ricky, thank you for your investigation and help. NXT community should be proud of having such members.

I trust in case #3, possible another person found the poisoned code and changed it to sniff passwords to this own server instead of default hosted by EpicThomas.

Let's refresh my and other people memory by posting some facts again.

Did [ plasticAiredale, Framewood, PaulyC, sparta_cuss, or newcn ] report about running infected NXT client software ? It's quite important part of the investigation.

newc downloaded it from Thomas's link:

16204974692852323982  also contains 1155  NXT moved from four other accounts over a four minute period centered around 29.12.2013 08:20:00

First poisonous link from this account could be posted on 28.12.2013: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=345619.msg4184582#msg4184582

Date Registered of this account is:   28-11-2013, 22:53:35

So it means that older hacked links were posted by is second older account.

Looks like you are his friend now and do not think racionally Cheesy (or haven't got as much experience with catching hackers as me, who had been dealing with thousands of cheaters)

From my point of view, he lives in Europe, since all times of his posts are during the day. Here I can show you another proof:

Registered account: 28-11-2013, 22:53:35
First poisonous posts were posted by his unknown account, but:

When he woke up in ther morning, he stole these Nxt:

29.12.2013 08:21:32      99 Nxt   http://87.230.14.1/nxt/nxt.cgi?action=3000&acc=16204974692852323982 A
29.12.2013 08:20:26      55 Nxt   http://87.230.14.1/nxt/nxt.cgi?action=3000&acc=16204974692852323982 A
29.12.2013 08:19:32      502 Nxt   http://87.230.14.1/nxt/nxt.cgi?action=3000&acc=16204974692852323982 A
29.12.2013 08:19:00     499 Nxt   http://87.230.14.1/nxt/nxt.cgi?action=3000&acc=16204974692852323982 A

Then he logged to the Btctalk, read it and wrote this:
