That was actually the only game I missed yesterday, margin was 55.5 not 50 unfortunately.

Right, I thought it was over 50 goals. Too bad but great job on this late ticket. Really a good win Smiley

But I more than made up for it with late ticket, you know the language so you will understand and others can probably get the gist as well. Football games market is both to score, rest should be obvious.

The clock is running in this competition even when we have penalty. So under is the market to go for. That is my main tip for today Croatia - Egypt under 56.5. Egypt is a big under team and we like to wait for last seconds of the attack as well. Should be free money. My first bigger stake in this competition.

I don't know... Croatia didn't play very good defense but they played excellent offense in friendly games before this tournament. It could be that the score will be over 56.5. I wish you luck but I'll skip this one.

Cape Verde won with a large margin yesterday, as they defeated Uruguay by 33-25. There were not many upsets. Iran managed to defeat Chile, although by the narrowest of the margins (25-24). Hungary managed to defeat South Korea by 35-27 and Slovenia managed to defeat Saudi Arabia by a large margin of 33-19. So those who made bets on the stronger teams won yesterday. Today's odds are as follows:

Germany vs Qatar: GER -500, Qatar +550
Argentina vs Netherlands: ARG +210, NED -167
Morocco vs USA: MOR -357, USA +450
Bahrain vs Tunisia: BAH +260, TUN -192

Tomorrow's matches:

Croatia vs Egypt: CRO +114, EGY +120
Serbia vs Algeria: SRB -1429, ALG +1500
Denmark vs Belgium: DAN -5000, BLG +5400
Norway vs North Macedonia: NOR -1429, MAC +1500

Actually considering such low odds for Cape Verde vs. Uruguay game, I expected even bigger goal difference. Like I said, I never heard of Cape Verde but looking at the previous results I wouldn't expect Uruguay to score 25 goals.

Trofo, I see that your bet for Saudi Arabia vs Slovenia game to end with 50+ goals was a success. Great call Smiley

As for today's games I'd say that favorites are pretty clear in all games except for the game Croatia vs Egypt. I can't be objective in this game so I will probably go with Croatia winning but it's a tough call. Croatia often plays poor at the start of the tournament and then improve their form as the tournament advances.
2063  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 IHF Men's World Handball Championship on: January 12, 2023, 11:39:05 AM
And that is why I played over in total goals and not over Slovenia goals. You can't take it easy in handball, if you take the foot off the gas opponent will score goals. If Slovenia has big advantage they will just spread the minutes more evenly.

Why do you say goal difference is not important in Handball? It is as important as in football if not more. Don't you remeber when we needed that over 11 goals win against Poland to reach semi finals and we got it?

Hm... How can I explain what I meant... In football there are only few goals in the entire game and a winning team can have goal difference by 1, 2, 3 or (rarely) more goals. At the same time in handball winnings with 10+ goal difference are not that rare. That's why I said that a goal difference is more important in football than in handball. I'm not saying that it's not important, just that it's more important in football.
2064  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ UEFA Euro 2024 in Germany ⚽ - Qualifiers on: January 12, 2023, 11:35:31 AM
Why do you think that Croatia was not impressive at the EURO, in contrast to its performance at the last 2 world cups?
In fact, at the last 2 EUROs, Croatia played at a very high level, both times they went to the knockout stage of the competition, and unfortunately lost in extra time to Portugal and Spain.
Should I remind you that in last year's League of Nations competition, Croatia won first place in its group ahead of France and Denmark, and in June they will participate in the final tournament of the League of Nations and have the opportunity to win their first trophy?
Croatia is high quality and strong enough to be one of the favorites in every competition  Grin

I think that he meant Croatia never advanced further than the first knockout game in the UEFA Euro competitions and they won three medals in the FIFA World Cup competitions. I dare to say that any team facing Croatia should not underestimate Croatia because we all saw what happened to Brazil a month ago.

Cape verde is a better team but I don't think they can cover handicap when they are that much of a favorite. I just placed a bet on Uruguay +10.5 @1.85. Never seen these two play but looking at some stats I think this should be a good bet.

Seeing how Uruguay played their last tournament (South and Central American Championship), I wouldn't be surprised to see you winning this bet. In the last year Cape Verde have never beaten another team by more than 10 goals. But Uruguay generally loses their games with a large goal difference so it remains to be seen how this one will end.

My other bet for today is over 55.5 in Slovenia game @1.8. Slovenia was always playing very fast handball and I hope they have still kept that trait. If they did, Slovenia will probably score over 40 goals by themselves. As I said still keeping it small stake until I see teams playing.

I know that they are playing against a much weaker team but I'm not that certain about them scoring more than 40 goals. It's the first game of the tournament and they may ease up once they get a solid goal difference. In handball goal difference is not that important like in football so I don't expect them to go with full strength in this game.

On paper this should clearly be Manchester United vs Newcastle United in the final.

/snip

I agree. Man United is definitely a better team than Nottingham Forest but you never know. Maybe Nottingham manages to win just like Southampton won against Man City. I guess we have to wait and see how the semi final games will end, but I definitely expect Newcastle to face Man United in the final game.

Well this is a nice surprise that Southampton beat Man City in the quarter final. This definitely gives more chances to Newcastle to advance to the final but I guess they should be careful playing against Southampton. If they manage to beat Man City with two goals, they will probably be a tough nut to crack in the semi final.
2069  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 IHF Men's World Handball Championship on: January 12, 2023, 08:04:44 AM
No surprises during the first match. It was a close one, but France won in the end with a narrow margin of 26-24. For today, there are 4 matches and most of the matches involve weaker teams. Out of 8 teams in action today, I don't think that any of them are ranked within the top-20. Three Asian teams will be having their first matches - Iran (vs Chile), South Korea (vs Hungary) and Saudi Arabia (vs Slovenia). I have checked odds from some of the sportsbooks, and Iran is at -125. South Korea is at +750 for the match against Hungary and Saudi Arabia is having odds of +3300 against Slovenia.

For the last match, Uruguay is placed at +2500 compared to -5,000 for Cape Verde.

I just checked the odds and I was pretty surprised seeing that Cape Verde is a strong favorite against Uruguay. I'm aware that Uruguay is not that known in the handball world, but I never heard of country called Cape Verde. I don't think that we will see any surprises today because all games include a big favorite against a much weaker team. I don't think I will place any bets today.

This thread needs a bump ASAP. Competition starts today and thread went down so much that I couldn't find it and opened a new one (locked now)Smiley Glad to see you here @slackovic so at least I know I will not be the only one rooting for Croatia. We played some good friendlies but we have a lot of injury problems and I am a bit concerned about line up. We shall see on Friday.

As i wrote in that other thread, France should win today and odds @1.4 are not bad at all.

I don't think that France will have a problem beating Poland today. Poland is a host and that gives them some advantage but France is... well, France Smiley 1.4 odd is not bad and I might take it.

As for Croatia... I don't know. I didn't have time to watch friendly games that were played, but I heard that Croatia won a cup that they hosted as preparation for the World Championship. If I remember correctly, Croatia likes to play like a diesel motor - they start with bad games and improve their form as a tournament progresses.
2071  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Croatian League - Hrvatska nogometna liga 2022./2023. on: January 11, 2023, 12:43:05 PM
It is always the same with Hajduk, big expectations and than a hit of harsh reality. Dinamo is by far the best club in the league and I don't see anybody taking the title soon.

I would like other top teams to make a step up in the European Competitions. We could use a bit higher coefficient and Dinamo is the only club lately giving us something on that front. Europe = money and we need more clubs to quolify for group stages.

Of course... Hajduk always has big dreams but Dinamo is there to crush them. I agree that Croatian teams (except Dinamo) needs some better results from the European games which would increase national coefficient and give chance to more clubs to compete in Europe and maybe get weaker opponents. To me it looks like all clubs except Dinamo are in a loop where they don't have enough European games and because of that they don't want to sign better players. And without better players they can't get good results from European competitions.

Well,I did not understand it that way,I thought that this new coach was talking about this year to become a Champion and that has really really slim chances if at all.For the next year though it will still be difficult if he does not change what I described above as not working, the ability of the team to score a good number of goals,of course compared to Dinamo Zagreb and not other teams,he really needs to work hard on this if he wants to have a chance to win the Croatian Liga next year.

I don't know what has to happen for some other club except Dinamo to win the championship. Believe it or not, in the last 17 years Dinamo won the title in every season except for the 2016/2017 season when Rijeka won it. But even then nothing changed.
2072  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA World Cup 2026 :Canada/Mexico/United States: Discussion Thread on: January 11, 2023, 10:47:14 AM
I am not arguing for even representation. It is not possible. If that is the case, then the most populous nations such as China, India and Indonesia would get automatic entry. But I don't want that, because I am ready to admit that these countries don't have the necessary standards to play FIFA world cup at this point. But the 2022 Qatar format doesn't sound proper for me. Asia, a continent with 4 billion people is just allotted 5 out of 32 slots (and the 5th slot came because Australia managed to defeat Peru). I want more representation for regions that are under-represented at this point. And it should be done without negatively impacting anyone. The only way to do this, is to increase the number of participants to 48.

And I strongly disagree, when you say that nations that doesn't care about football will get slots. There are a lot of countries in Asia and Africa were football is the most popular sport. I would not say that my own country can be included in the list, but there are football crazy nations such as Indonesia, Vietnam, South Africa and Nigeria. None of these countries featured in Qatar 2022.

OK, to end this discussion, let's wait and see how will the games in the World Cup 2026 look like. I agree that every nation should have a chance to compete, but I don't agree that FIFA should let nations that lack quality in football play in the championship just to make it more attractive to the people of those countries.

Hajduk is preparing for the continuation of the league under the new coach Ivan Leko. Leko was appointed after Dambrauskas was fired at the start of the season. In the mean time Karoglan was appointed as a temporary coach. Hajduk fans wanted Leko to get appointed as a coach and the club management listened. Leko's biggest wish is that Hajduk become a champion of the HNL. With Oršić leaving Dinamo and Hajduk being only six points behind Dinamo, it's not impossible.

I think that it is impossible because yes Hajduk is 6 points behind, but Dinamo has one game less so in theory if Dinamo wins which I think they should win their game they are 9 points behind.Another factor that makes me think this is the number of goals scored from Hajduk which is clearly a lot lower than that of Dinamo and as such this new coach Leko for me has the difficult duty to make Hajduk forwarders score more goals in order to not be impossible for them to win the title,as soon as he fixes this and also win a direct clash with Dinamo chances will be there.

Well, I didn't say that they will win the title. I just said what Leko's expectations are and that's winning a title. Although he didn't say that the expectation is to win the title this season (he signed a two year contract) so if Hajduk remains in the top two or three teams, I guess he will have a chance to win the title next season.

RESULTS:

Manchester United 3-0 Charlton Athletic
Newcastle United 2-0 Leicester City

Charlton played well and kept positive throughout most of the game but eventually the Rashford substitution ended any hope they had of equalising. He two goals after coming on as a sub. Manchester United are through to the semi-finals.

Newcastle United have not won a major trophy for 54 years but they beat Leicester City 2-0 to reach the semi-finals. Could this be their first major trophy in over half a century?

I really hope that Newcastle will win this one. They are really playing good and they have a good streak in the Premiership. The problem is that they will probably face Man City in the semi final and that will be a though game for them to win. But if they continue with great games, I guess they can win. They last game they played in Premiership ended in a draw with six goals so I expect a good game in the semi final.
2076  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ UEFA Euro 2024 in Germany ⚽ - Qualifiers on: January 11, 2023, 08:15:29 AM
Here we go again..

Lets look back at the last edition of the Euro Cup. There were quite a few one-sided matches. A few examples are here:

Spain vs Slovakia (5-0)
Denmark vs Wales (4-0)
England vs Ukraine (4-0)
Denmark vs Russia (4-1)

One-sided matches can occur even when the top-10 teams play against each other. So it is not a valid reason not to increase the number of participants.

Yeah, but that's 4 out of 51 matches that was played in the whole competition. That's not much (less than 10%). And in the World Cup last year there were 64 games played and about 5 or 6 of them ended with big goal difference. That's OK too. And how do you expect that nations who are not that strong will end up against strong nations? There probably will be few surprises but most of the games will be a one way street where a one team will attack and the other will defend. Is that a game that you will enjoy watching?
2077  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA World Cup 2026 :Canada/Mexico/United States: Discussion Thread on: January 11, 2023, 08:00:46 AM
You can never have all locations in the world evenly represented in the FIFA World Cup because European countries play better football and more of them qualifies. It's just a matter of which sport is more popular (and funded). The same thing is with some other sport that's not as popular in Europe as in other parts of the world. For example, you can't expect that many European countries will qualify for a world championship in cricket.

Let me ask you a very straightforward question. Do you believe that a majority of the European teams would be able to perform well in the FIFA World Cup, if the players of immigrant background decides to play for their country of origin? Imagine a French squad without players such as Kylian Mbappé, Ousmane Dembélé, Paul Pogba, Karim Benzema and    Kingsley Coman. Will they even manage to qualify for the world cup? The same can be said about 80% of the UEFA teams. Only a few such as Croatia and Poland are having 100% native squads.

I don't have any issues with UEFA teams including (or stealing) players from AFC/CAF countries. But then it should not be done at the expense of these poorer nations. For the 2022 World Cup, 13 slots were allotted to UEFA nations and just 5 for the CAF. That doesn't sound fair. Even for the 2026 edition, UEFA is being given 16 slots, compared to 9.5 for the CAF.

I don't have any problem with nations outside Europe participating in the World Cup. I'm just stating the fact that no one can expect that the whole world can be evenly represented in the World Cup since football is not that popular outside Europe. And what's the point of getting more slots for the World Cup if those slots gets filled with nations that doesn't care about football. I understand that FIFA wants to make football more popular by doing so, but it will only bring poor matches that no one will want to watch.

Mbappé was born in Paris, France.

Dembélé was born in Vernon, France

Pogba was born in Lagny-sur-Marne, France

Benzema was born in Lyon, France

Coman was born in Paris, France

How is that stealing a player from AFC/CAF countries? These players were born in France, how more native you want them to be?

Is not even the case of nationalized players, these people have lived all their lives in France.

I get to what Shitara007 is saying about naturalized players. For me a player that lived his whole life in some country and trained football in that country from young age should have no problem playing for the national team of that country. You gave example of France players who were born in France and that's OK. It doesn't matter if a player's parents are immigrants. If he learned and played football in one country, he should be allowed to play in their national team.

But there are cases where a player gets citizenship of a country where he wasn't born and didn't play football and because of that citizenship he decides to play for that country's national team. That's not OK.

That's true European countries are dominating football world and that's why Morocco when made it to semi-final this year was a shock and surprise for whole world . And as far as Asia is concerned there are still no football teams representing in fifa like Pakistan and India and these teams are dominating in cricket world so that's they difference.
I hope so among 48 teams in 2026 Pakistan and India should be inside it .

Coming from Europe, I don't like the fact that FIFA decided to increase the number of teams participating in the World Cup. I don't have anything against teams outside Europe like Pakistan and India competing but I don't want to see a bunch of games in the World Cup ending with goal difference of five or more goals.
2079  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ UEFA Euro 2024 in Germany ⚽ - Qualifiers on: January 10, 2023, 10:16:12 AM
Well even Spain and Portugal are not to be underestimated and I agree with you, Croatia can give you a hard time
but also Holland, let's not forget, who play quite well
and how can we not forget little Switzerland
there are many difficult teams to face, we were only talking about who is slightly favourites

That is why I like UEFA Euro much better than the FIFA World Cup. The competition is much stronger and games are more equal than in the World Cup.
