Team Canelo took that Kovalev fight because they saw that he was the weakest on the light heavyweight division at that time and after they won they did not defend the belt instead they move down so i think this Bivol fight will be an acid test for Canelo as the former is a strong puncher and would be much bigger than him. Certainly NorthPort won't let Bossing will be the one to beat them, that would be their motivation and i think this goes to all the other teams in the PBA, they don't want to lose to Blackwater lol. It's official, one the most anticipated match this year has been confirmed. Canelo Alvarez will fight Dmitry Bivol on May 7. And not only that, if by chance he won against Bivol, Canelo will be facing GGG next (assuming GGG wins his fight with Murata).
I think this is a two-fight package (not sure though), after this one he would fight GGG for the trilogy so win or lose he will face GGG. Cherry picking, this might be in the minds of the haters of Canelo lol. After unifying the belt, his team thought of moving to the cruiserweight but somehow it didn't push through maybe because the water there is dangerous so they are taking the less dangerous route and that is fighting on the light heavyweight division though there is still danger but it is not like in the heavier cruiserweight division. Looks like the expectation is too high for the SMB now that they have a new import, as I'm seeing, Magnolia has moved the ball very well making everyone contribute, it is just too smooth for them while the SMB struggles to make points. I hope that will not frustrate them going forward, also Romeo was not playing like he usually does, lots of tuning that needs to be done for this team.
We can't blame the people who has high expectations for this new import of SMB. Imagine, they have replaced Johnson who have won them two consecutive games after that debut lose. Johnson at this time have jelled well with the locals of SMB but still he replaced him because Muhammad's basketball resume is hard to pass up. Though they lose this one, there is still time to catch up as they are still in the middle of the standings but they should win their remaining games so to avoid complications of a quotient system. |

Is Martinez taking PEDs? It seemed like he does not feel tired in the fight, until the 12 rounds, he is still very active and he could really go toe to toe. I also see the mistake from Ancajas because he doesn't use a lot of movement, instead, he just trust his power to much and give a toe to toe fight, I mean he is the champion, he should not give the fight easily, use his head movement and foot work to score and win.
Let's just give it to Martinez, if he is taking something then it would be known because they have this post-fight testing and he will be stripped of the belt if found guilty. In fairness to the new champion he deserved this because he was relentless and Ancajas' ring rust really showed in the fight. Imagine, he has not fought for 15 months and he might also has over-trained. Hope MP Promotions would realize this mistake and take good care of him because the way i see it, it seems that they are just throwing their boxers whoever is available, just my two cents. Lose my bet but it's okay and i just hope Ancajas can bounce back from this defeat and learned from it. |

So I think boxing fans, specially Filipino around the world and in the US are going to tune in and the fight because Ancajas is a rising champion. Someone needs to carry the flag for them after Pacman is retired now.

In terms of talent, Ancajas is next to Donaire if i were to rate them but in terms of popularity, Casimero is the one who is the more popular among the two because of his antics.
