I'd like to direct two personal requests to the community: 1. Please read before asking the same question over and over. At least check the first post of this thread. Seriously some people don't even read the post made RIGHT BEFORE theirs. How are people like that going to contribute anything to NEM if their not willing to put in the time to read 2 freaking lines ? This was a call for participation not a call for pay a fee and then come back every two weeks to ask what happend. I know not everyone has time to follow this thread and that's understandable but when you have time to ask the question you should also have time to read the first post or at least the 2 last pages which almost always contain the info people are looking for. 2. Plz use at least relatively strong passwords on your btt accounts (I'm not saying like brainwallet strong just use letters and numbers and make it longer than 10). If you haven't changed it in a while plz do so now. Also plz don't get your accounts banned. I don't know how everybody is doing it but it seems many people are getting banned right now. I'm flashing back to all the double hashes and dealing with that now that everyone has new nicks that need to be exchanged in the stakeholderlist. Yes I'm a littler overreacting here @2 because it's been like 4 people (  ) but I really thought the stakeholderlist work was done and we could move on to do something more usefull  I also want to say thank you to anyone that is really contributing ! In the last days the thread has really started to look like people of a community trying to organize stuff over a common goal. That's great and that's how it needs to be. Although time is even more precious than CGB, we manage to find enough of it to keep things rolling behind the scenes. There are so many things going on right now including preparations for CGB's birthday celebration, the soon to be released client update, a new promotional campaign (unannounced), our community project CryptoTown On The Ground, and details of back-end services. To quickly set some better expectations for the weekly update, work load prevents its completion on a strict schedule. Please expect the release once a week, nearest to Wednesday as possible. Some details about the client update are in order. It is expected to be released within the next couple weeks depending on completing the new feature set and testing before deployment. Confirmed features include look and feel improvement, PoW/PoS security improvements, GUI unlock/minting, some relevant Novacoin patches. Scrypt merged mining capabilities are almost certain to be included and we are still looking into multisig capabilities for compatibility with distributed coin exchanges. We still need to do testing to make sure this will be the client CGB deserves. We would like to highlight some of the major work that has been going on in our efforts at the front lines of cryptocurrency adoption. If we multiply that with the market caps of those two currencies we pretty much exactly get an estimated market cap of $9 million for NEM (for both values). NXT barely uses their sub. All of their activity is at nxtforum.org. NEM will be 1-2M. I would compare it to NAS maybe multiplied a few times because NEM has a stronger following now. That's an insult right there. I haven't looked at quora in detail but it could be that he just "came out" later. NEM was started to be written after the registration. If the code had been written already it would have appeared faster when it really would have taken the same time. There's also little information that I can find on what's new about the POS implementation they came up with. Maybe it's just not as new. In the thread the dev pointed here https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Proof_of_Stake when asked about what's new so that kind of raises the question if there's anything new at all. |

We're in a pre alpha state. Let's implement it first, get a whitepaper out and then talk about review and audits.
"External" audits of unfinished stuff make little to no sense.
You don't need even one line of code to review the idea behind POI. In fact, reviews and designs are done before coding starts so that if there are problems, they can be fixed In this particular case imho you have to code it because there is no other way to find the right balance between all the factors. Say devs had the time to write a whitepaper and there was no code written yet. How would they describe the balance of the factors that POI takes into account if they have no idea how they will behave under "real life" conditions? Of course makoto is way more qualified to answer this so makoto (or any other core dev for that matter) please correct me if I'm wrong here |
