Units just came in only a hour ago you'll see tracking info tomorrow.
2062  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Would you buy car insurance with BTC? on: March 31, 2014, 09:49:16 AM
I don't think that car insurence will really have a blast in BTC. You are paying it once a year or once a month and you can convert your BTCs for that.

I completely agree but I am all about being the "first" to accept BTC. I was so happy to finally introduce a MMO gold site and was the first to accept BTC as a payment form. In order for me to offer BTC for car insurance I need to gauge interest in it.

Let me explain the type of insurance this will be the license is not for any specific one company. How this works is I run some info on your current coverage with a lot of various companies to find the absolute lowest rate possible.

Why I want to offer this is for something promotional worthy but to make it even worth while I need to really see if offering this to the bitcoin realm if it would actually be supported, and lets face it we need something positive in the bitcoin scene.

To anyone whos sent a email I have got them don't worry about the late replies I have been very busy with some things I will have free time either late this evening today or tomorrow to send out replies to the guys who showed some interest.

I am looking for someone who is good with coding to take on some jobs part time and wants paid in BTC.

I also need someone who is familiar with SMO and SEO.
2064  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [Group buy #3] OPEN GRIDSEED miner BTC/PP/WU worldwide on: March 31, 2014, 05:51:50 AM
I put the SCRIPTA distro on my RasPi and got it preconfigured as much as I could, but I'm hearing there are issues with chaining large USB hubs together. In other words, if you need more than two hubs you might want to set up another Pi.

The Pi can only handle hubs 2 levels deep. As far as I can tell, the max number of ports at a given level is 7. So, if you have a single level 7 port hub, you can plug 7 into that, and have 49 miners on one Pi USB port. The Pi has 2 USB ports, so, in theory, you can put up to 98 miners on one Pi.

When USB 1.1 was released, and even 2.0, the maximum devices of 127 seemed laughable.  (Who would ever need more than 640KB of RAM?!)

I was never able to realize why someone would find it useful to have 127 slow devices connected in this way.  Since I can readily envision a large Gridseed farm, it amazes me this max is finally being realized in something useful besides research!

I will have the first half of the shipment arriving this monday. However the cords I ordered which originally I was not going to include but with the recent price cut shortly after my group buy closed I decided to include them to help compensate. I want everyone who ordered to know that my group buy did not profit me a single penny and has actually cost me a rather large sum of my own personal funds which is not including shipping costs. I am doing everything to make it right for you guys which is why I was able to offer such a cheap price prior to the price cut. I was not informed of the recent price cuts and feel slightly cheated myself.

If you would like your units shipped today without power cords send a email with your order ID # to info@bitcoinminerz.com for in store credit redemption on the cost of the cords and a in store coupon as well on the few over stock units from refunds I have had to submit. My live chat will be online from now until about 1:30pm EST which I estimate is when they arrive so you will have to contact me before then.

My second half of the 300 ordered will be coming in by about thurs-friday as well. If I decide to do another group buy I have ironed out all the kinks and issues which caused delayed times with this group buy. I will be sending out each shipment in the order they were received.

My next thing regarding controllers for the raspberry PI. I will not be able to get any wholesale units in a reasonable time limit for the ones who have a free wibox in their order and do not need a RPI please contact me as I will offer reimbursement. The RPi will ship seperate from the gridseeds.

2065  Economy / Marketplace / Would you buy car insurance with BTC? on: March 28, 2014, 04:45:50 PM
So in order for me to offer this there is a few strings I'll have to pull and would most likely setup subscription based payment via coinbase. The rate would be lowest one found across various vendors generally progressive is always the best rates.

What my main concern is if I am able to offer this for BTC how many people here would actually be interested?

They had to ship in 2 seperate batches I'll see the first batch either fri-sat or monday then the second one the day after. I've been eagerly waiting myself to get these here asap.
As these are soon to arrive, can you please clarify exactly what we should expect? You've made a bunch of "I'm looking into...." statements, but no actual "This is what you're getting" statements.

I'm specifically wondering about:
1) Power connectors - you said you were looking at including barrel plug terminals
2) Controllers - Still getting the Wiibox, or getting RasbPis? If Rasbpis, what all are coming with them? (Powersupply, SD card, case, etc etc)

The wiibox's would have been a delayed and I was informed that they are inefficient they will come with a SD card and RPI no case and power supply cord.

I ordered cords from bobsbitcoinsupply.com that will be included with the miners who didnt purchase single unit PSU. His cords will work in scrypt only mode.

I pushed as quickly as I could with them direct from gridseed to courier they're was customs issues with shipping 600 so it had to be 2 seperate batches of 300 each the miners were 2 day express shipped and sent out yesterday they arrived late at the warehouse but the courier managed to get them out to DHL in time. I was unaware of gridseed needing a 3 day lead time at the time of the bank wire arriving for them to ship the units out which caused a delay total of roughly 5 days due to a international bank wire taking 2 days to process.

Also looking for an update.. I also think after seeing "delivery within 48hrs of 17 March" made me assume they would be delivered to him.. but it appears it was to a courier who would then fwd it to him..

Hoping he has already received them and is busy packing them all up.   Grin

yeah same here - doing 2 orders one with BTC and the other through his site I feel pretty secure still... wouldn't accept CC or PP if something fishy was planned..

Wouldn't mind a quick update though "Got em, boxing em, more later" kind of thing

Nothing yet at latest I should see the gridseeds at my location by this thursday and packed an shipped within 24 hours or less of receiving. There is 10 extra units left from this group buy that are $219.99 each.

Hopefully you get them mid-week and we can get them by this weekend Wink

All the mini usb cables came in I am replacing the wiibox with a free raspberry pi after finding out about stability issues and limitations if minepeon comes out with a scrypt based miner I will be pre loading that for each user. If anyone knows of any good pre built raspbian or arch linux for scrypt that you will be using let me know so I can get some ideas what would be best for the group buy.

There is also 15 gridseeds that are left over i'm selling as single units plug and play right now.

If others could also use them I'd be happy to buy plugs through you, Maidak. I can get 'em for about 30c each, but I have to buy 100 pcs. :/
From what I've read, 2.1mm x 5.5mm will work, though the correct (and less common) size is 2.5mm x 5.5mm. Here's the two sources I've found:

Probably about a buck each after shipping via Amazon.

The right size, for probably about 30c each, but I have to buy 100 via eBay.
Show me a link for a bulk order at a reasonable price and i'll order them up and include it free in every package for people who didnt buy single unit power supplies that I offered.
My searching suggests the 100pk @ eBay is about as good a deal as you're going to get. If there are better sources, I don't know what they are.
There's a bunch of suppliers on Alibaba, but every listing I click on that says "2.5mm x 5.5mm" ends up stating "2.1mm x 5.5mm" in the details....

I'll look into this and punch some numbers to see if I can offer em which I should be able to but i'm cutting it really close already as it is with the 199 promo.

I still haven't seen an answer - I just need a yes or no - Will these Gridseed units come with some kind of connector for wiring up their barrel connector to power? Or is that something I should be sourcing right now? My understanding is the ATX leads are an extra - they'll cost money anyways, and not everyone will be using an ATX powersupply with their gridseeds.
No. Source your own 2.1mmx5.5mm plug. 23 gauge wire or better for LTC only. 15 gauge wire or better for BTC or combined.
Correct I can mass order barrel plugs if you want but all I was offering was single power supplies mini usb cable and wii boxes in this group buy.
