US to Georgia: Don’t touch Saakashvili, he’s our SOB
http://rt.com/op-edge/177772-us-georgia-saakashvili-sob/

Quote
Earlier, several key figures of Saakashvili's regime had also been charged in similar fashion. The list included Vano Merabishvili (former interior and prime minister), Zurab Adeishvili (former minister of justice), David Kezerashvili (former defense minister), Bacho Akhalaia (former defense and interior minister) and Gigi Ugulava (former Tbilisi mayor).

Washington reacted immediately.

US Republican Senators John McCain and Jim Risch, as well as Democratic Senators Jeanne Shaheen and Ben Cardin, said in a joint statement July 28 that they were "extremely disappointed and concerned" about this ruling. Democratic Senator Chris Murphy and Republican Senator Ron Johnson had this to say:

"While we appreciate the goal of preventing a culture of impunity for government officials, the prosecution of Georgia's former President – in addition to the former Prime Minister, Interior Minister, Defense Minister, and Chief Prosecutor - contributes to the perception that the ruling Georgian Dream coalition is systematically pursuing charges against their political opponents."

...

The rise of Saakashvili started in 2003, when he succeeded in overthrowing his former patron President Eduard Shevardnadze in the course of one of the "color" revolutions, the so-called “Rose Revolution.” Contrary to widespread expectations, Saakashvili's regime did not bring Georgia either prosperity or any of the generally desirable values such as democracy, human rights, the rule of law, etc.

...

Pathetically, Saakashvili is now an official adviser to the Ukrainian government. One can imagine what kind of advice a man who lost 20 percent of his country's territory can give to Kiev.

Another, no less pathetic action was performed by Tuft's University Board: it offered a "Senior Statesman" position to that odious person with criminal charges hanging over him. Not a very dignified decision by such a prestigious American University. One wonders what the students’ and faculty's reaction will be when they read and see the upcoming criminal case proceedings.
2062  Other / Politics & Society / Sanction against Russia for West-choreographed conflict in Ukraine on: August 05, 2014, 08:13:10 PM
I think it's time to start a separate thread on this theatre of absurdity.

There's been several waves of sanctions against Russia, none of which were well formulated or reasoned. Sanctions were imposed solely to hurt Russia, but the ones hurting are the EU and US businesses.

Some Polish representatives even went to the hypocritical step of calling Russian response of banning of some of the agricultural products as unfair, and threatening to complain to WTO.

Well. It seem counter-sanctions have not even started yet...

Putin asks government to develop countermeasures to Western sanctions
http://rt.com/news/178192-putin-sanctions-west-response/

Quote
Putin stressed that Moscow’s response should be “cautious.”

“Obviously we need to do it cautiously in order to support domestic manufacturers, but not hurt consumers,” he said on Tuesday.

...

On Tuesday, Vedomosti daily reported Russia was considering limiting, or even completely blocking European flights to Asia that cross Siberia, in response to EU sanctions that caused Aeroflot subsidiary, Dobrolet, to suspend flights on Monday.

...

Nevertheless, despite mounting international pressure on Russia, a reputed Putin ‘inner circle’ figure – businessman Gennady Timchenko - has said recently that the big Russian businesses hurt by Western sanctions will not even think about putting pressure on President Putin, because the interests of the state are at stake in the conflict.

Here is a much-needed in-depth background on the Yukos case:

YUKOS: Murder Incorporated, and the EU Schizophrenia
http://futuristrendcast.wordpress.com/2014/08/03/yukos-murder-incorporated-and-the-eu-schizophrenia/

Some quotes:

Quote
YUKOS is the former company of the ex-Russian Jewish oligarch and ex-convict Mikhail Khodorkovsky, who was released from jail on December, 2013, as a result of the Russian Presidential pardon based on humanitarian reasons. Incidentally, the main beneficiary of the $50bln YUKOS compensation would be another oligarch and Khodorkovsky’s crony, Leonid Nevzlin, who is wanted for 5 murders in Russia. Nevzlin managed to escape justice by fleeing to Israel, where he is presently hiding. He would be the recipient of the 70% of the $50bln judgement against the Russian State, should this ever come to pass. The recipients of the remaining 30% would be 4 other Russian oligarchs, hiding somewhere in London, I presume. Isn’t that nice! They want to keep it all in the family!

Quote
It has also been proven that the ex-CEO of YUKOS, Mikhail Khodorkovsky, bought the members of the Russian Duma and plotted a coup to overturn the Russian government, changing the Russian state structure. He and his cronies wanted to make Russia a parliamentary republic instead of the existing presidential republic – all this to unseat Putin, who even in mid-2000 was too big of a threat for the NWO and Transatlantists.

Quote
Why did the EU suddenly decide to resurrect the old lawsuit, which was thrown out previously by the EU courts, and why did they decide to jack up damages from previous $1.2bln to the arbitrary $50bln?

1 & 2: rephrasing your questions to show their non-applicability.

3: Baltic states are happily-robbed by EU, and Russia had nothing against it. In fact, Russia has healthy trade agreements with the Baltic states. The same goes for other former Soviet-block countries. What Russia was opposed to, is the placement of rocket installation and NATO bases in the aforementioned countries, in clear violation of the promise given by NATO.

1.You transformed a question into a fucking no-sense...

2.That not answer the Ukraine point with EU and eurasiatic trade union. Also why Russia want the possibility to invade again ex-URSS country if they are really isolationist ?

Invade? Last I checked. Russia was shot at from Ukraine, and NATO was doing a massive military build-up of what can only be called an invasion force on Russian borders.

Also, I'll indulge you with your questions, which are, by the way, nonsensical at their core.

Quote
So why Russia is boring everybody when we try to do trade with ex-USSR country ?

And why Putin do an anti-fracking campaign in western Europe ?

1. When you try to trade with an ex-USSR country, and that country is ok with it, Russia is not boring anybody. However, when that country might lose 60% of its trade revenue by severing the trade deals with Russia, and starts having second thoughts... Let's just say that it's the EU that starts boring people with their coup d'etats.

2. Sources? As far as I know fracking has enough global opposition without Putin's help. Maybe if US released info about which chemicals are used in the process, there'll be less resistance?

PS: You are breaking the law on foul language use.  Tongue
2073  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The first thing to know on: August 03, 2014, 03:37:16 PM
It's true statement.
In some other post someone asked which country we hate the most.
There is no such things like evil countries or people, just bad governments which can be replaced with the people either in free elections or revolution (if they become to much corrupted over time).

The problem with revolutions, is that they are conducted by people with an agenda of "Why they, and not me are stinking rich? Unfair! Must do something about it." Revolutions never benefit the people who seem to support them. See the OP's definition of government.
2074  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russian liberals threatening secession? on: August 03, 2014, 12:15:16 PM

3.EU was open to EU-Ukraine-Russia trade but explained that EU can't have a trade agreement with Ukraine if Ukraine joint the "eurasiatic" trade union cause it's impossible with the eurasiatic trade union rule (cause you must have an unique trade agreement with all the trade union country, not a trade agreement by country (one for Ukraine and one for Russia))

And i don't mean just Ukraine, Russia was opposed to every relation the west has with ex-USSR country. If Russia is not the USSR why they defend so hard the USSR empire ?

1 & 2: rephrasing your questions to show their non-applicability.

3: Baltic states are happily-robbed by EU, and Russia had nothing against it. In fact, Russia has healthy trade agreements with the Baltic states. That video might be edited, though from listening to it, it does not seem the phrases are taken too much out of context. Still, I'd like to copy a set comments here, the last of which actually cuts to the heart of the East/West-Ukraine problem:

Quote
This video is heavily edited. Actual context removed by russian propagandists. All copies of this interview distributed by the russian propaganda network abruptly end on the word ‘killed’. Previous sentence is removed also. Rough translation of the removed phrase:
“Problem is that we can’t use this resource, we surrendered it to the band of greedy assholes, remnants of party nomenclature who joined forces with local criminal clans.”
Later, he goes on talking about people who would kill him for trying to argue with them and it is obvious that he is talking about terrorist leaders, professional warmongers and criminal madmen. After that he is talking about giving “free sausages” to the rest.

Full unedited version is here, much harder to find:

Perfect display of an extremist. You focus on thing and leave out the context, overall tone and direction of the questionable journalist (see how I use diplo speak). You are part of the problem, not the solution. If you are indeed Ukrainian, the Ukrainian goverment must crackdown on you and likeminded.

The core problem of the Maidan movement goes to the very core. I think any Ukrainian in the East and West could agree that greedy Oligarchs had to go and change had to come. Many peaceful families were right on Maidan to demand that. But then a small vanguard – mostly from the West – with extremists views took this movement hostage. Ironically, their violence was neccessary to overthrow Janukovich. All the peaceful families would not have fought against the police. In using violence, they set the tone for the future Maidan movement and the aftermath. People tend to follow the most extreme solution, others are marginalized. This way a minor political force (in Western Ukraine they are a major force), the Right Sector and Swoboda ideology, could gain political influence in military and administrative positions (4 ministers, general prosecutor, advisers etc).

They set the further escalation in place: Turchniov, instead of cracking down on them, sent the army to the East, no further peaceful negeotiations were used. He feared a second Maidan. He then made a second mistake and gave weapons to these extremists and created National Guard battalions with them. Now they had even weapons and could easily overthrow Turchinov. Ironically, they were needed, because the army was in such a bad shape. This is were Poroshenko picked up and was in the same position: Carry on militariliy or face another Maidan by the heated public, influenced by extremists.

With all these spilled blood, I can’t see any other outcome but disintigrating Ukraine. Ukraine may win militarily, but the hearts and minds of the Eastern people are lost. Many of them will move to Russia and live there permanently. Their skills will be lost forever. Families will be broken up forever. Those who stay, may settle in and go into a silent fear mode with their lifes for decades. Others will carry on with partisan fighting. And they will be good at it. The border to Russia is not controllable for anyone. If Ukraine wins militarily I can see a Northern Ireland scenario: Heavy military presents that put a dent in the economy, an antagonized split public and a goverment incapable of actually doing anything about it. The UK realized after decades of pouring money into Northern Ireland, they needed to reach out to the Irish after hundreds of years of occupation (Battle at the Boyne). Ukraine, on the other hand, doesn’t have the economy to sustain anything comparable on the bigger scale of Donbass (Donbass is bigger than Northern Ireland) and way more blood has already been spilled. Peoaple like you will be responsible in the end for the disintegration of Ukraine.

And, lastly, to make it clear: You won’t get any money from us in Germany. 45 million (!) Ukrainians are way to much for our economy to deal with. Germans were fircely against giving money to 11 million Greeks and will be against giving even more money to the way bigger Ukraine. I am totally against any outcome that puts Ukraine close to us and my views are prevelant among Germans, forget the small part of journalists and their agitation, the population is not in your favour. You are on your own in any sense of the imagination and we will see sorrow about what you did to yourself, after dust has settled in. RANT OVER.

It's quite difficult to break the Western-built association of USSR=Russia, even though it's not true.
Russia was a member republic of USSR, and went under the name of RSFSR (Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic). Though Federative was stated in its name, it had little say in its own affairs, so the soviet leaders did with Russian federative subjects and territories as they saw fit, as if that was their private property. Khushjov meddled with Crimea, Stalin with Ossetia, Lenin with Novorossia.
