2061  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / so are coins 2.0 / 3.0 going to eat btc??? on: December 27, 2013, 03:34:25 AM
NXT a 2.0 seems to be eating up BTC, then emunies coming which is basically a 3.0 coin
,
I mean NXT has had how much value rise in a month something ridiculous even with its faults and tradeing on dgex. It sorta looks like a fast forward version of BTC evaluating against fiat, for NXT v BTC.

I'm not sure how BTC will be able to compete, given NXT and Emunie avoid the whole mining thing, as well as offer allot of features.

Mastercoin seems to redress this a bit but looks clunky

ok features of emunie for example

Speed - Transactions are processed almost instantly (sub-20 seconds) and are safe to trust.
Size - Small data set, clients download only what they need, and most do not need the whole transaction tree.
Interest - eMunie uses a TRUE economic supply & demand based currency system where new supply is distributed to current stake holders
P2P exchange - The first true P2P exchange allowing not only the exchange of eMu, but ANY currency or commodity registered within the system
ENS - A naming system for wallet addresses which allows more human readable terms to be assigned to an address.
Postman - Secure e-mail system including attachments.
ERC - Secure chat rooms/channels similar to IRC days of old (private rooms supported).
EIM - Secure instant messaging between 2 or more parties.
Ratings - Self explanatory, you can rate the sender of transactions (these ratings are used for various things in the community)
Profiles - Public & private profiles where you may enter some details about yourself (or your business)
    much much more....

2068  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What will China think as they see the price of bitcoin rise after banning it? on: December 26, 2013, 03:57:12 AM
when btc hits 10K a coin this will be a rather public humiliation the Chinese govt is not used too, the Central govt will be seen to have tried to control something, with full central govt force only to be completely broken over the back of BTC.

Even moreso at 100K

a lot of Chinese are going be be really really upset at their govt for making hard for them to partake of this bounty.

Chinese understand one thing more than the power of the central govt and that is the power of money.
2069  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / mastercoin and its 100+ clones force a fork on: December 25, 2013, 01:50:27 PM
if mastercoin works as advertised or even better, then we may see a raft of master-coin allts all trying to stuff the block-chain with data, and compete for transaction space

what happens in this situation?
2070  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Can someone please explain master coin simply, especially for sending MC on: December 25, 2013, 07:01:02 AM
[1] Eg say I buy some MC

and I have 10 on my btc address, how do I send that 10 to another address

[2]what is the feature of the token/message on the address that makes it unforgeable, all I can think of is the chain must be traced back to the original exodous address

This makes it look like adamstg Abstract Coin? is that right?

[3]what is is that verifies the MC is valid, is it an add on or the block explorer.

[4]To do all the wiz bang stuff why would I need more than say 1MC, what is the advantage having more?

[5] what is the total amount of MC that will be created?

[6] What stops a competitor cloning and using all these features on the block chain

2071  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is LTC dead? on: December 25, 2013, 04:52:17 AM
your kidding right, LTC, was a 0.005 btc earlier this year in feb I think, so about 16 cents, you need to look at the whole time line.

BTC, LTC and PeerCoin (PPC) are the hard currencies,

NXT, Mastercoin are second gens

Emunie is the 3rd gen
2072  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bank Bridge P2P distributed peer to peer exchange end game on: December 25, 2013, 04:02:04 AM
When  I hear about the p2p exchanges etc, the end game [to me] is where the p2p can interface 90% of banks, without their consent.

Eg. When I can use my swift code and account number and send it without the consent/knowledge of my bank to the p2p exchange and back like any other persons bank account/visa/mastercard. [Ok so my bank may have a $5000/xthousand a day limit, but that so I can send to that limit].

This makes banks/states involuntary gateways.

anything else is not really a distributed P2P exchange

2073  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Colored coins VS Mastercoins - Which one is better? on: December 25, 2013, 02:45:43 AM
what happens to open transaction

Likely to be incorporated into the iXcoin ecosystem to handle advanced financial instruments.

What happens in this case? Will the price of iXcoin rise? Rise significantly?

it does seem ixcoin falls into the prebuilt solution that will be better than master coin or maybe even IOCOIN
2074  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: MasterCoin: New Protocol Layer Starting From “The Exodus Address” on: December 25, 2013, 01:31:32 AM
I have to say I don't understand alot about this master coin

chief among these is any asset class, you create, or putting say usd into master coin, how can their be any advantage over any other coin/xrp

in the end you still have to trust a gateway somewhere.

unless it is possible to build a distributed exchange that can interface with any bank account, without your banks consent eg, you can pay to the blockchain/mastercoin through bank transfer either way?

also when sending a mastercoin transaction where does it grab the btc fee from  and how? eg picks an adress in your qt randomly?

any pointers on this would be appreciated
2075  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: December 24, 2013, 09:47:53 PM
so I just sit there and the block chain does not update, tried to get the partial down load and all sorts of things nope nope nope...

2076  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BTC-e [Next Coin] - DATA on: December 24, 2013, 09:46:41 PM
this is kinda funny, but your right it would be nxt coin...look at market cap and its only just starting
2077  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think some countries already adding BTC to their reserves? on: December 24, 2013, 02:58:35 PM
I wonder if there is any animosity regarding the fact the creator has a Japanese name - they aren't the best of friends the Chinese and Japanese.

With a traditional computer that is essentially true - but couldn't a quantum computer perform an infinite amount of computations in a finite time? Or have I misunderstood the principle of quantum computing. I wouldn't put it past the NSA having this technology. Alternatively they may have a back door into the current encryption method - which is probably worth more to them not to reveal.

OK, welcome to the forums glad you made it. So please dont take this the wrong way:

You need to read more on here (lurk) and use the search function before you start posting these brain farts of yours all over the place.

All of these points you mentioned have been discussed ad nauseam on BTCTalk. By people with IQs much higher than you or me.

BTCTalk is a great place to learn and remember what being a student is like:

Be quiet in class, listen carefully to the teachers and smart kids and DO YOUR HOMEWORK!  Grin

that was a bit harsh...we need to welcome people nicely, also it is perhaps a fault of this forum not to have a faq board with all the popular questions linked in threads......then we would avoid a lot of these issues, and I mean its not like this forum is underfunded....
2078  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: In your mind what is a "good" amount of Bitcoin for a newb to hold and be proud? on: December 24, 2013, 02:33:30 PM

2080  Economy / Speculation / Re: bitcoin bear chart on: December 24, 2013, 06:24:18 AM
There is no denying that, first, if chinas ban on 3rd parties companies to supply money to exchanges is not resolved then this can't be helped, if you guys had experienced the dotcom bubble you would understand what is going on around here, second, there are talks about the worst possible outcome for bitcoin and other cryptos but I'm not going to talk about it.

a few notes

even if true, we are effectively in about 1988 of the internet, eg pre mosaic age...on the sun sparc, which was really the first browser combo that is still effectively what we see today, so year left to get to 2000-2001 dot com bubble crash.

the dot com bubble, benefits and losses were limited to silicon valley tech etc.

Bitcoin is much more widely accessible.

the Dot come era, looked to replace communication modes, eg, mail, reading info etc.

the Crypto era looks to replace / upgrade fundamental aspects of society, which hither too have never been done before in human history.

eg, unidentifiable, unsiezable wallet / store of wealth that can be paid to anyone anytime, this is a complete paradigm change in human history, without few things to compare to it....

I for one would like some examples of something similar to prove me wrong.
