2061  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Are You Interested to buy physical goods and what you feel secure? on: February 04, 2017, 07:46:53 AM
The problem for such physical seller is the shipping works. In my country the cost of shipping worldwide is pretty much than the price of goods and the guaranteed to the integrality of goods is the considering, actually it can use an insurance but of course add an extra cost.
How you think? Are you interested?

Of course there will be people interested. Look at the darknet markets theres a whole lot of interested people right there. Also look at purse.io, they have a lot of users buying products from Amazon at a discount.

But if shipping will cost more than the product then you will have to raise your prices of tour products. So never mind. One incentive to use BTC in purse.io are the discounts. If I have to pay more, Id rather use cash.
2062  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Every Country Needs Bitcoin Payment Processors on: February 04, 2017, 07:37:59 AM
I've talked to some merchants who are not interested in accepting Bitcoin because the exchange rate fluctuates and it is simply too volatile. I've explained that services provided by Bitpay and Coinbase in the US protects against any fluctuation, which means the price you sell is the price you'll get in your bank account. My point here is many people (ie. merchants) are still shying away from accepting Bitcoin because they don't understand this.

I now realize that in order for Bitcoin to gain more adoption worldwide, there needs to be Bitcoin payment processors for every country. If you think about it, every country's domestic banking system is different, and only a local business would understand the domestic needs and provide tailored services.

I've written an article on my blog explaining how to become a Bitcoin Payment Processor, specifically to insulate the risks of exchange rate fluctuation for both the merchant (client) and the exchanger (the business).

http://blog.ikevin.me/bitcoin-business-opportunity-how-to-become-a-payment-processor/

If your country does not yet have a Bitcoin payment processor, or Bitpay.com has not entered your market yet, I think it is a great opportunity to make the first move.

Let me know your thoughts... for discussion.

Why dont you make the first move since you think its so profitable and advantageous. The problem with people like you is you want others to do something so that your BTC investment will grow in value for you to sell for fiat.

If you think posting here will change things, it wont. Answer this first. Why would anyone want to run a BTC payment processor and how profitable would it be?
2063  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Could BTC ever become fast enough to function as a single world currency? on: February 04, 2017, 07:31:19 AM
Bitcoin's transaction fees could rise in the future, but I consider it probable that there will be a kind of a "cap" some day and fees will stay accessible. There are two main possibilities for this "cap" to happen:

1) if a competitor (an altcoin) emerges that offers strong blockchain security, a large user/services/merchants network and less transaction fees. As this could be potentially dangerous for Bitcoin's leadership and price, miners will have to adapt to the competitor and lower the minimum fees.

2) when "altruistic-egoistic" miners emerge that mine not mainly for profit but to facilitate the worldwide adoption of BTC. These would be individuals or groups heavily invested in BTC that would profit enormously from a mass adaption, but they are less dependent on getting transaction fees, and would lower then just to lower the "entry barrier" into the Bitcoin ecosystem.

I see neither of your suggestions happening. No. 1 might but thats still too far from now. The nearest could be a segwit activated LTC with lightning network. But thats still very uncertain.

Your 2nd suggestion is altogether showing a great lack of intelligence. The reason why the Bitcoin system works is because its trustless. What makes it trustless is because of the incentives received by the miners and it also makes them act accordingly. Why mine for charity for the good of Bitcoin? Give the money directly to the people for the good of the world.
2064  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Over 100 Migrant Workers Test Blockchain Remittance in Thailand on: February 04, 2017, 07:21:56 AM
Sending remittance via blockchain could be cheaper indeed but it's still
too complicated.

This might work for the younger, more tech-savvy people, but not so much for the traditional older ones.

I dunno. Probably just me, but I still don't even know how I could get my father(who's got no idea about Bitcoin/Cryptocurrencies/Blockchain) to send money/remittance via the blockchain. There's just to much room for error and mishaps.

It can be made as easy as using facebook or twitter. These days there are already a lot of old people using those platforms. So being too complicated is the least of their problems. The big problem is the network is taking hours for a transaction to have 1 confirmation. Sometimes it will take day.
2065  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Advertizing a gambling/dice game - need opinions, thanks! on: February 04, 2017, 07:13:14 AM
I think you should approach people who like to gamble and do it daily and maybe offer them a position to help promote you for casino tokens.
Gambling is like a hobby, when you are a gambler you not only spend a lot of time doing it, but you also know other gamblers and share your experience. If someone like that leaves his casino to play at yours it means you're doing something right. Smiley

It will take more than that. The new site should show that theyre better than their competitors. Bitcoin is a tough market because most of us want to hold all our coins and spend as little as possible. If you want your site to prosper you should make the games as addictive as possible. Look at the darknet drug markets, all their customers are addicted to the products there! They keep coming back!
2066  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Qtum] UTXO based POS Smart Contract Platform|On Coindesk & Bitcoinmagazine on: February 03, 2017, 06:32:35 AM
Im very excited to take part in your ICO. I hope you all the best. But Im curious on why you decided to go for a proof of stake system instead of proof of work. A premine and using proof of work might be the better direction for you since you are already using the Bitcoin code base. Is it because you want faster confirmation times?

My question in the quoted text hasnt been answered by the QTUM rep or anybody involved in it. I just want to bump it hoping to get an answer.

I also want to add another question. How is QTUM better than Ethereum? I have read a lot of comments here that Ethereum will not work properly as the userbase grows too much for the network to handle. All nodes have to validate all those transactions and in theory might slow down the platform. How does QTUM solve this problem and stay decentralized at the same time?
2067  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Stolen Bitfinex Coins on the Move on: February 03, 2017, 06:11:40 AM
What about the kind of 2FA that uses the google authenticator app? Those are much safer than the ones used via SMS. Didnt one of the biggest investors of Ethereum and Augur get his cellphone hacked and had all his ETH and REP stolen? I dont know the whole story of what happened but it there was a blog from Kraken that said the hackers were able to receive his 2FA codes.

For using the Google Authenticator 2FA protocol, you don't need a device that's connected to the internet, it just needs to be set to the correct time and date. So, you could mitigate attacks against a phone by keeping a separate phone specifically for your 2FA keys and app, that has no SIM or any WiFi connection.

I would recommend against using Google's closed source Authenticator client on a phone connected to the internet/phone network, but it's probably not an issue for an air-gapped phone. FreeOTP is a good open source authenticator that uses Google's protocol, if you're wanting to use an open source client.

So its safer than 2FA via SMS then. I have an old ipod touch thats lying around in my office desk and hardly use it for anything since all my songs are already in my phone and I use Spotify most of the time anyway. I could start using that only for 2FA purposes.
2068  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin / Blockchain in connected furnitues (IoT)? on: February 03, 2017, 06:05:39 AM
Guys, I was thinking how you can use Bitcoin or Blockchain in general regarding furnitures? Do you have any ideas?

Thanks for some Brainstorming Smiley

You mean BTC miners in your refrigerator or light bulb? Didnt 21INC. try to build some miners like it and failed royally? They raised 100 million dollars from investors who were so happy to give their money away thinking that it was possible.
Bitmain made one too, the R1,  a router with a bitcoin mining chip in it that can get 5.5GH/s. I don't really see a future in those devices except for solo mining, but then you might as well rent some hash for way cheaper...

I didnt know that one. Does anybody know what happened to 21INC. and what theyre doing these days? Are they still making the Bitcoin computer they have been wildly talking about years ago? Those could be good collector's items for a cryptocurrency museum someday.
2069  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Advertizing a gambling/dice game - need opinions, thanks! on: February 03, 2017, 05:57:42 AM
Have try to submit your website in some gambling directories? There used to be couple sites with this: freecrypto.co or topbitcoinsites.com - I dont know if they are still operational.
Or advertise on other forums as well: https://cryptocointalk.com/forum/2419-games-gambling/ or https://bitcoingarden.org/forum/index.php?board=21.0

i think not just submitting the sites in gambling directories that related with crypto currency but for the normal directories because i think if we submitted into many directories sites, our sites will get more incoming links and it was counted by search engine and our rank in the search engine will get a good position.

advertise on other forums is good to because other people will see our sites and its a good chance for our sites to be visited by more people and i think if they are interesting with the sites, they will playing gambling too.

Advertising in sites outside the cryptocurrency community or forums that have no idea what Bitcoin is will be a waste of time. It will take more effort because you have to convince them to use BTC. Theres also no assurance that they will use BTC so why bother. Its better to advertise to the market who already knows what BTC and altcoins are. Its easier. What the service should do is convince that market why they are better.
2070  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Over 100 Migrant Workers Test Blockchain Remittance in Thailand on: February 03, 2017, 05:53:20 AM
Soon everyone and everybody will be using similar tools and applications,in my country we have millions of immigrants and overseas workers, but unfortunately we  do not have one set up,we have one coin coming up and hopefully we can start from here.

No not everyone will use similar tools and applications unless the banks who run everything says they will. They are in charge so blockchain remittances going in and going outside of any country will be used only by a small minority. Banks will serve a majority of all transactions for a very long time.
2071  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Over 100 Migrant Workers Test Blockchain Remittance in Thailand on: February 02, 2017, 06:54:06 AM
It's just a matter of time before everyone starts using it..

Everyone? Its not as easy as that. Remittances via the BTC blockchain is only useful and will make more sense of a government of a certain country is very restrictive in getting money in and out of that country. Imagine if Donald Trump ordered to start to have more restrictions for US dollars to be sent out of the country. BTC will be the best option to send money outside the United States.

This is a good suggestion. One thing I would like to say is awareness doesnt come overnight. It takes a while until the site youre advertising gets enough name recall from the people who keep seeing your ads. Do you ever wonder why those annoying ads on TV keep getting played and repeated over and over? They do that for name recall purposes. Some become timeless and have become a part of our culture.
2073  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Does anybody have a relatively secure IM service they'd recommend? on: February 02, 2017, 06:40:20 AM
Thanks. I'll check it out soon.

Edit:
VirusTotal has 1 detection on that link here: https://www.virustotal.com/en/url/ca954ae9092adc4acbcec70d8d838ed485a0ec4634166190732e4bd7e9dc2464/analysis/
Not sure if it is a false postitive or if I should stay away.

That could only be a false positive. Ricochet is one of the more trusted apps out there and its open source. Check their Github.

https://github.com/ricochet-im/ricochet

Another app to use if you have Android or IOS is Signal. A lot of people who are into crypto use it. They consider it more secure and private. If you use Viber. Stop and use Signal.

Its like building a perpetual motion machine or the search for the unicorn.
2075  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Stolen Bitfinex Coins on the Move on: February 02, 2017, 06:17:32 AM
They had 2FA but it is irrelevant in this case

Since the hacker could just have broken into their servers from outside and stolen the keys totally bypassing this method of authentication. The coins hadn't been stolen from someone's account (as you erroneously seem to assume), they had been purportedly stolen from Bitfinex cold wallet(s) itself (themselves). But what is highly suspicious here is that all these wallets require multisignature. That pretty much means that all the sigs had been reachable to the attacker (which is yet more fishy) or it was exactly that, the inside job

2FA is useless if a customer service representative at a telecom carrier is negligent and forwards or ports your phone number to a hacker’s device. It's a common reason for big hacks.

Customer service representatives who don't ask all the security questions they should often give hackers control of people's phone numbers

Sad but totally true

I read a similar story when clients of a certain bank had their money stolen through this or similar method, through negligence of their mobile operator. I don't know all the technical details of that story but as I got it, hackers gained access to Internet banking by stealing logins and passwords of their victims, then managed to get SMS confirmations redirected to their phones and thereby they were able to successfully withdraw the funds. If I remember correctly, the bank in question had to refund the stolen money, though I'm not sure if it was entirely their decision or a court had demanded them to refund

What about the kind of 2FA that uses the google authenticator app? Those are much safer than the ones used via SMS. I see this question being asked again and again in this forum. Some answer yes and some answer in the negative but what we all fail to admit to ourselves is, are we really here for BTC because we really love it or are we here because we love the fiat we can make from it so we can buy stuff we want?

Im excited with the technology but theres a side of me that wants what the early adopters had. Thats being on the train when it left. But maybe it has gone already and Im still hopeful.
2077  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Stolen Bitfinex Coins on the Move on: February 01, 2017, 07:31:54 AM
The mixer services are currently under scrutiny from most governments and they will possibly work with the authorities to identify

the people behind this hack. If they resist, they will just attract a lot of negative attention and they do not need that now. The

authorities do not need to ask nicely, they can just force them with a Subpoena through the courts. The exchanges is no problem,

because they already work with most governments, if they adhere to AML/KYC regulations.  Roll Eyes

But think of a situation if they give in to the demands of the government of some country. This will also hurt the reputation of the BTC mixing service too. Most people from the darknet market will stop using them and what will happen? They might close down because of the pressure from the government or if theyre anonymous, they could run and hide with all the BTC they are holding becoming another scam. It could happen.
2078  Economy / Marketplace / Re: What are you looking to buy in BitcoinTalk Marketplace? on: February 01, 2017, 07:26:51 AM
Yeah digital goods are also good. I just saw a guy named TECSHARE selling PSN and other codes for consoles so you can play games online. They are satisfactorily cheaper compared to the other sources as far as I have seen. I will buy a PSN code from him as soon as I verify that those codes work outside the USA.
2079  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Firm XAPO Approved to Operate in Switzerland on: February 01, 2017, 07:18:14 AM
If blockchain.info offered the same service but with lower fees, would you use it? If there was one BTC wallet company who could offer the public a debit card and have an actual impact on BTC users it is surely them. I wonder why they havent explored the idea yet.
2080  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Possible outcome if Bitcoin do not implement SegWit and LN on: February 01, 2017, 07:12:11 AM
I think a major point is being missed.

Litecoin does Not Need segwit or LN, it already has 4X the OnChain transaction capacity of BTC.

Litecoin has no use for LN , because Litecoin is technically superior to BTC.  Wink
Lower price, Lower fees, Faster Transfers, 4X the Transactions capacity

 Cool

FYI:
Don't Bet on it!  Cheesy
BETTER TECH CAN'T KILL BITCOIN!

Thats a good point. So would it be good to assume that the LTC developers and the founder, Charlie Lee are doing this only to spite the warring tribes of BTC? Politics without doubt is the main cause why segwit is not activated. Maybe the Bitcoin maximalists could get a thing or 2 from the LTC community.
