What is they said in the news today, 5 million refugees the USA is expecting? I don't see them wanting to move to only adjacent neighbours.

Many Ukrainians in IT have been employed by western companies already and speak English pretty well. That leaves exactly two main English speaking countries in my mind where many of them will want to head if old Vlad moves further west. I would have thought that will potentially affect more than just me indeed.
It is impossible to imagine a greater absurdity ... since the cost of Emigration to one of the EU countries, not to mention the United States for a simple Ukrainian family in modern realities, can cost an unbearable amount. Firstly, the average Ukrainian family spends and earns about $500 a month, and housing during emigration is the main expense item. Even with a semi-annual budget in reserve, an ordinary Ukrainian family will not be able to afford such a move. I'm not even talking about food, mobile communications, transport and medicine (everything that is much more expensive than in Ukraine). So, according to the above, I can say with confidence that only 1% of Ukrainians can afford to emigrate without problems, so you personally will not be affected by the conflict in Ukraine.
2082  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russian Invasion of Ukraine on: February 22, 2022, 08:03:35 PM
So, I expect that Russia will try to take remaining part of Donbass and Luhansk with cities like Mariupol or Kramatorsk. [...] Actually, it was big surprise for me that Germany put sanctions connected with Nord Stream 2. I expected just tradional phrases that they're ''deeply concerned. And complete bankrup for Russia sound like uthopia for me.
All because your expectations are based on your nationalist mentality, and on far-right statements about an ideal society. If your foggy mind would see the difference between expectation and reality, you would understand that the current lines of demarcation and the historical administrative-territorial division used in the USSR, which was later used in Ukraine, are two different things. Therefore, claiming or trying to seize that part of the Donetsk region that is under the control of Ukraine is tantamount to full-scale military operations.

No matter what anyone says, there is only one scenario in which Russia dares to make this move, but the first step should be made by the EU and not Russia. A scenario in which the EU and the US at this very second will introduce the maximum possible package of sanctions, something like a sanction against North Korea. In the meantime, the EU and the US act with caution by introducing phased sanctions against Russia, Ukrainians have nothing to fear.

I am leading to the fact that the multi-stage system of sanctions is precisely designed so that one of the parties would have leverage in the future, in case the situation worsens even more. Therefore, if the EU would hypothetically take radical measures today, it would lose its leverage, and Russia, knowing that the situation would not worsen, would go for a confrontation or annexation of Donbass, Transnistria and all the territories where its troops are currently located.
2083  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russian Invasion of Ukraine on: February 22, 2022, 05:18:27 PM
I wouldn't bet much against an invasion, though, and on the other side of the argument, if Putin knows that he eventually wants to take a piece of Ukraine, now would be the perfect time. The energy market is currently uniquely favorable to Russia, German politics biases them strongly against cutting all ties with Russia, Putin needs a boost in his domestic approval, etc. Also, if Trump is president in 3 years (a distinct possibility), then an attack against Ukraine years in the past under Biden isn't something that Trump would particularly care about.
Despite the fact that the energy market is favorable at the moment, it can be considered that Russia has already lost the northern stream - 2, since the recent agreement between Bidenn and the German chancellor implied the veto of the northern stream not only in the event of an invasion of Ukraine, but also in the event of any movements of the Russian contingent on non-government controlled Ukraine territories.

As for Putin’s rating, it’s too early to talk about it, but it’s safe to say that he will receive real support from the population on the eve of the elections in 2024, but not earlier. The population of any country likes high-profile victories, especially if there are no victims in these victories, so I won’t be surprised if Donetsk and Lugansk turn to Putin with a request to be included in Russia through a referendum, and most importantly ... Putin will go for meeting.

[...] I'm wondering if Russia putting out a news story that no doubt will be received favorably (since crypto is extremely popular in Russia and because of cheap electricity must be lucrative as hell), attention might be directed away from the hostilities that are brewing between both countries.
Cryptocurrency is popular in Russia and Ukraine not because of cheap electricity, but because of the fact that the population has a total distrust of the banking system and the fact that the population does not want to pay taxes (by the way, the population cannot be blamed for this, only the government is to blame). As for the hostilities...stop watching the propaganda news, as there is not a single chance that a military conflict will break out between Ukraine and Russia.

I would love to play with you on the grand finale again so yeah 4 games is good enough to get some points. I might be abit wider on the next game considering that I probably guaranteed ( almost ) for the grand finale already  Tongue
Don't flatter yourself too much... or have you forgotten how much the Sunday games are different from the final?  Cheesy

Although I have only 6 points, I will continue to use a chaotic style of play for the next four weeks, but in the final I will play at full strength as I played before.
2088  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Banning Bitcoin is Like Banning the Internet, Says Russia’s Finance Minister on: February 21, 2022, 07:36:53 PM
Not only Russia but also other nations failed to ban the Internet. [...]
When it comes to attempts to ban the Internet, supposedly protection from external threats is meant, which in reality is aimed at censorship.

Btw, since 2019, a bill has come into force in Russia, which should eventually make the Russian Internet space similar to the Chinese one. I'm not sure at what stage the implementation of this project is, but after digging around in the bill's document on the Internet, I found that: The restrictions apply primarily to Telecom Operators who must switch to Russian-made equipment, equipment that provides for deep traffic filtering (such that it can distinguish a Telegram traffic package from Facebook, but without seeing the contents of the package).

It's the same with bitcoin... any government is always trying to extract as much money (in the form of taxation) from the population as possible with as much control as possible. And the possible regulation that everyone is so actively discussing is actually aimed at obtaining new levers of pressure on that layer of the Russian population to whom the banking system is alien, (that layer of the population that has cryptocurrency wallets).

I sympathize that three of your players never played a single minute, in my team only Fabio remained out of the game, (I guess while there is a possibility, Klopp decided to give a rest to some players before the next match). Nevertheless, you are in an acceptable position as you have the possibility of replacing four players, + free transfer + 1 paid transfer. If I were you, I would think about taking one of the attacking Southampton, Aston Villa, Newcastle in the future, since all these three teams have a chance to win in the upcoming round, moreover, immediately after that these teams have double game weeks.

I didn’t have a single chip left for this until the end of the season, I will slowly either go down in the ranking or go up (by the way, the first part of the round brought me 57 points, but six players still have one match to play). This is what my team will look like next game week + 3 Liverpool players in reserve.

Another cool competition from Sportsbet.  Shocked

But to be honest, I'm at a loss as I'm not sure if I should publish the prediction, because even if I win one of the tickets, it's unlikely that I'll be cured by this moment.

I, too, was surprised by such praise. Giving someone else's money has become a miracle in our time. Just doing the right thing is an act. There is clearly something wrong with this world. Does that mean that someone who thinks it's a miracle to get the money back wouldn't do the same if they were in that situation?
The fact is that returning 1000 dollars is not the same as returning a quarter of a million ... therefore, on the eve of next year, I will take more care to convey to everyone who wants to vote to convey the idea that I put in the description of the categories. Perhaps I will even ask one of the trusted users in parallel with me to count the votes at their own discretion (to derive an average value).

[...] Do you really believe that various govts around the world are going to be giving back various freedoms to people.. travel, assembly movement, once they have been able to take them away and cause people to be scared of other people..?   That would be nice, but seems that governments tend to be quite disinclined to give back freedoms after they have been successful in taking  them away.. .. and for sure I am not any kind of anti-govt person.. but there are some sickening aspects to some of these expectations of compliance matters and the shutting down of speech and the intensities of some of the deplatforming and deplatforming attempts.
I would not say that temporary restrictions on movement are a blow to freedom, since such a policy primarily affects finances ... I think no one will argue that money is the main factor of power in the global world order. In addition, I would agree with you if we lived in the 16th or 19th century, during the time of those pandemics whose names I don’t even want to name.

I like to delve into the details of world history, so I can draw a parallel between the current state of affairs and the total restriction of civil liberties in the past. Unlike past pandemics, a pandemic of a type like Covid is not capable of breaking economic ties between countries, and as a result, there can be no question of long-term economic consequences. I would add to this the fact that an ordinary person like me does not feel the economic downturn and the far-reaching consequences of this stagnation, (keep in mind I say this as a person who lives very modestly). Btw, speaking of severed economic ties ... the pandemic still played into the hands of the United States because for them this is a great opportunity to distance themselves from China by moving production home.
