I'm already looking forward to the silver one's.  I cannot wait for my first of your current coins to get here.  It's the first one I have actually purchased of any coins.   Smiley

Only 300 of these left folks and no more will be minted Smiley the next ones will be 999 silver
2083  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: The Perma USB Eruptor. on: February 14, 2014, 06:58:22 AM
You are quite right.  Plus supporting the network pays in more ways than just getting BTC.  It allows us all to send and receive it as well.
As long as they are not overheated they seem to run forever.

I was thinking of just selling off my little 333mh/s USB ASIC's but now I might keep them for this geeky fun.

I've yet to hear of a block eruptor ceasing to work(not that I've been looking.)
We have no way to know what value BTC will have in the future, it is very possible these block eruptors will make us wealthy.
They mine only a little value each day now, what might that little value be worth in 10 or 20 years?
2084  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive ASICMiner Cube Setup on: February 14, 2014, 06:55:50 AM
Yes they can be reseated but it looks like you need a new one as well.
What needs to happen is create a new soldier pad for the one that is gone and then carefully heat and seat the new cap.
If you are not familiar with how to do it look for a local electronics repair shop as they usually have techs that can ID the cap and install it properly and quickly for just a few dollars as it is a simple task.

Will try 2 cubes on this PSU soon.

Ok, so, I have this blade on the cube, from which this thing came off. Is there a way to fix it ?

2085  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: uninterruptible power supply help on: February 14, 2014, 06:40:07 AM
APC makes some really solid solutions that I have used in data and server settings with high draw devices.
http://www.apc.com/site/apc/?ISOCountryCode=US
If you go there you can check out what they have and use your calculations to choose the correct setups for your gear.
Their warranty service is top notch I have never had an issue getting any gear replaced or warrantied.
I hope this helps.

I will have to root around the vendors I was at recently tomorrow.  I saw some internal USB adapters that allow you to plug in external devices directly to the MB.  They were cheap and had two configurations.
This could be fun.
I was thinking of just selling off my little 333mh/s USB ASIC's but now I might keep them for this geeky fun.

That is a neat idea.
I have a clear side panel and lights in my case I should do that with a couple just for fun.
How many internal ports does that one have?  I couple I saw on NewEgg had 2 to 4 internal.

The one in the picture only has one internal port.

Depending on your motherboard you will have internal usb 2(9 pins) and/or usb 3(20 pins)
You can possibly convert a free internal usb connection into internal usb slots.

You can convert the 9 pin to 20 pin(you will only get usb 2.0 speeds which won't negatively effect block eruptors) then use 20 pin to usb internal slots. I was unable to find 9 pin usb to internal usb adapters.

So if I have 3 different pools setup in my Avalon then I can switch pools through MultiMiner instead of having to log into the Avalon?
That is great!!
You are a madman of programming.  Do you dream code??  I used to dream server configs all the time when I was building out a couple big installations.

Huh Huh That makes no sense. Then why am I using MuM if it doesn't control what coin is being mined Huh

What's that got to do with diff Huh

There are two things you can do with a standalone Network Device (such as the AntMiner S1):

  • You can either enable the Stratum Proxy feature in MultiMiner and then point the Network Device at the IP / Port of MultiMiner, which allows you to control the coins being mined etc.
  • Or you can enable RPC API access on the device and it will show up automatically under the Network group - if you try version 2.7 PR1 (linked above) it now lets you switch pools, but these are configured in the Web UI for whatever ASIC device you are using

Hopefully that clarifies the features.
2089  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is it feasable to CPU mine with 170Ghz? on: February 14, 2014, 05:45:38 AM
MemoryCoin is a great coin to mine on that setup.
I would use the YAM mining software.  It is easy to setup and use with great support from the developer and the community.
Here is a link to the community YAM discussion. https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=2609.0
Here is the BitCoinTalk thread to get you some info on it as it is a great place to start.

I hope this helps get you on your way.  Enjoy.
2090  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: so i decided to have a little ggo see what happens on: February 14, 2014, 05:38:15 AM
Depending on your CPU you can get much better performance.
YAM is a really well optimized mining program.
The developer and community support it very well.
Here is a link.  https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=2609.0
I use it on my laptop and run it when I am on it.  I get 1.5 to 1.9 running an AMD A8.
As others stated though if your laptop is getting hot do not run it.
I actually had removed my laptop heatsink fan system and replaced the garbage thermal gunk with Arctic Silver and my laptop stays cool and quiet.  Do not attempt if you don't know what you are doing or you could brick your laptop.

Here is a great thread to start on for more information on MMC.
It is a great coin with an excellent community.

I hope this helps you out.

Bummer.
If there is anything I can do to help let me know.
I have one I can test your trials on if you want.

I almost hate to ask if you had time for any DualMiner support work.

Still road-blocked. Waiting to be un-read-blocked, which is outside of my control. Soon hopefully!

Wow you have been busy.
I will have to try this out tomorrow.  I'm too tired tonight to.

Okay folks - it's time to start kicking the tires on 2.7 pre-releases for those who have the time!  Grin

Version 2.7 PR1 is available for download here:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/rcu3y19txi78j4t/MultiMiner-2.7.0.zip

So far this update includes:

  • Added the ability to rename all devices
  • Added the ability to restart Network Devices
  • Added the ability to switch pools for Network Devices
  • The full list of Workers for Network Devices is now shown in the Details pane
  • The hardware list is now saved and restored when reopening the app (hardware is no longer scanned on every startup)
  • The combination of Remoting and Network Devices is now more consistent in reporting hashrates
  • Fixed issues with Network Devices not showing their full hashrate
  • Minor fixes and UI improvements
2095  Other / Off-topic / Re: My generous benefactor... on: February 14, 2014, 04:11:08 AM
I got a couple of these today too.
Pretty funny.
It would be nice though to see someday a couple Bitcoins appear in my account.
I've always helped others when I could it is kind of scary to be on the other end of it now and in need with how silent it is from those I helped in the past.

Ah well my 1 satoshi each from Enjoy and Sochi I'm sure will not get confirmed but fun none the less.
2096  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: OUCH! More Bad Bitcoin News... on: February 14, 2014, 03:42:06 AM
That would be cool.
Seeing people selling a 5.5gh/s Jalapeno for $350 is crazy much less 30gh/s BFL Singles for $1200 or more is sickening.

The localbitcoins service gets pretty good reviews.

Coinbase has been well worth it even though I am still in the first 30 days so my daily buy limit is low and won't be bigger until mid next week.  They have good prices and usually are quick with transactions.

Coinbase is quite reliable.  I have been using them alot to buy and sell BTC.
Also LocalBitcoins is not bad if you want to in person trades.

Ok, not to be a dingbat here, but I should probably buy some bitcoin. How do I do it without being totally scammed or wind up with three types of viruses on my system, or whatever; I basically mine my coins, and store them in my own wallets.

Thanks I'll give it a go. I'd try the local route but I can't believe anyone would be stupid enough to sell.

Another thought: This might finally force down the price of mining equipment on Ebay so I can pick up some coins that way.

Cool deal.
 Smiley

I should have tried that.  Everything is safely over on Linux boxes now, and not going back (I don't think), but if it does, I'll give that a shot.
2099  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: OUCH! More Bad Bitcoin News... on: February 14, 2014, 02:29:13 AM
Same here.
I think in a couple years we will look at this as a small blip in the big picture.
Should be an interesting couple months though going forward from now.

Unless it keeps going lower.  Been a lot of bad press lately.  Arrests in the US, Bitcoin made illegal in Russia, 2 out of 3 exchange halting withdrawals.  I respect you for keeping your cool far better than me.
I was here when it went from 30 to 2. No way a price of 450 scare me, from 30 to 450 is a good news here, not a bad one  Cheesy

Same.  HODLing because I believe in the tech and future promise.  Not in it for a quick buck... been there and done that.
2100  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: OUCH! More Bad Bitcoin News... on: February 14, 2014, 01:46:46 AM
It does help people buy into it that were not able to by the such high value of BTC.
In the long run it will keep growing there are just too many of us all invested in it for it not too with more and more business's accepting our BTC for their goods.
