2081  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin investment, fulltime endeavor or side hustle? on: May 21, 2023, 01:06:02 PM
It's always wrong to close any source of income, unless you want to go all in on cryptocurrency trading. Then, I'll say you'd need absolute dedication to stay ahead of other traders in the market and make more profits. If the current work isn't providing you enough time to trade and the pay is nothing compared to what you make in bitcoin, then it's a decision that nobody can take for you. Although, going full time into side hustles sometimes gets boring especially when we just start the journey. Handling the both is also a better way of maintaining your financial security. Always have a second plan to fall back if bitcoin trading surprises you with a decline or losses. You can't predict the outcome of your investment unlike your office work, where you're sure of weekly, monthly or yearly payment.
2082  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Sunday off-topic - If not "bitcoin", then what? on: May 21, 2023, 12:51:09 PM
The state of bit is represented with 0/1, yes or No. Increase or decrease should be the state of bitcoin, the fact that the coin adds and substrates in value makes it a good name for the coin. Additionally, it's a computer generated coin and mined through the computer, everything about the coin revolves around the computer and zeros and one remains the only language that the computer understands.  The name is very brand able and easy to remember; lots of people easily remember the name when being mentioned for the first time, it must have taken just a few thoughts to come up with the name.
2083  Economy / Economics / Re: Helpful mineral resources on: May 21, 2023, 12:35:29 PM
Africans are blessed with a lot of minerals that if this resources are gainfully used for benefit of their citizens, this God given resources would add colours to Africans. Countries in Africans like Nigeria, Serial Leone, Ghana, kenya, south Africa and lots more you will a lot of natural resources either misused or abandon by government and even if they see need to use them, is either abused or mismanaged. Petrol in Nigeria till today is been refined outside country and still import back to Nigeria on a high price, lots of minerals like coals, salt, kerosene, gas, petroleum and so on but no appropriate handling of this resources, so even the citizens can not benefit from it. If Africa can make use of their resources well, they will be more independent, free from indebtedness and indirect colonial system of other countries.
There are many countries just like Africa in the world that had not established there mineral resources they have because of bad government, mismanagement, conflicts, poor education and many things that is why it still look like some countries in Africa are not fit to stand as an independent country because of lack of knowledge and necessary tools to establish a market for the raw materials they got from the nature. There are many countries suffering I'm Africa because of bad government which had mad the entire country looks very poor.

Africa is not getting enough supports from their colonies who capitalize on the natural resources in Africa ever since they colonized Africa and still have influence on the companies that work with the raw materials in Africa. Nigeria is an example of an oil producing country under the influence of Britain on their oils. Shell is owned by them and they still make loads of money through the oil company, that's why it seems like no refinery operates in the country. The price of those minerals is very expensive for citizen of Nigeria, which is not proper, they should be enjoying cheaper prices on petrol. The Government takes the blame, but they see what the citizens can't understand, instead of losing out they take their own personal share of the resources and move on while it lasts. Their colonies still have an eye on them.
2084  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Budget For Halving on: May 20, 2023, 08:03:33 PM
Bitcoin is not an investment to trust with loaned money. It'll put you under pressure, which may affect your blood pressure because it's not under your control. I'd say that you invest gradually what you've got, investing 90k on bitcoin is great, but when market price drops it'll affect your investment drastically just like you'll earn if it pumps. It's a top investment risk and that's not acceptable to place yourself on such a situation. I've read in the past about a person that lost lots of money after loaning money to trade bitcoin and lost everything, including his house and wife's money. If the money is for hodling for a longer period, it'll be better, but the lender may need their funds within 6 months or a year and bitcoin doesn't skyrocket in a way that can be predicted. Op invest the spare cash you've got.
2085  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A Gambling Operator Court Case on: May 20, 2023, 07:35:25 PM
Believe or Not there’s a real life story that user manage to get a compensation from a casino due to the court ruling in favor of the gambler. If anyone remember the story of Christian Hainz agains a Swiss casino. He loss $3 million in the casino due to his addiction. He accused the casino that they are manipulating him and use his addiction to take advantage on him for not stopping him too early.

The court ruling about the manipulation allegation makes Hainz get a compensation of 500K USD which is not bad to recover some of his loss.

Some court is considerate on cases like gambling addiction. This is the worst nightmare of a casino in an event that the judge is in favor to the victim while they have an incompetent attorney to make their case.

You can read the story number as source for this info: https://greatbridgelinks.com/5-gamblers-who-won-casino-lawsuits/

Why is it that people sue the house after numerous losses? The gambler somehow had a better lawyer than the Swiss casino, unless the Swiss casino wrote on their terms and condition that they'll stop addicts from staking so much money, then the gambler has a better chance over the casino. A gambler that staked 3million dollars at a go, should be cautious of his expenses while gambling. What if he won most of the games and made more profits would he complain that the house didn't stop him? on the other hand, if he spent that amount on night club would he sue the club owner for not stopping him from buying expensive wines? things get tricky when it comes to casino, due to addicts.
2086  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Where is Satoshi? on: May 19, 2023, 09:42:56 PM
Satoshi is somewhere living his best life without any internet access, I don't think some of these little disputes can bring Satoshi out to say he's Satoshi and would want to make adjustments to the troubles on the Bitcoin network. This is not the first time the network had such issues, the fees rise sometimes and drops due to network congestion as explained above. And it's not bad to transact with alternate coins if the bitcoin network delays so much, most of them came through bitcoin too. Many people used altcoins until the fees dropped to some reasonable amounts, then they moved back to bitcoin. However, the fees of previous weeks was really terrifying on bitcoin users.
2087  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 💥😮Ripple Launches CBDC Platform For Banks, Governments🏦 on: May 19, 2023, 09:22:40 PM
I see it as a way ripple wants to tap from the CBDC trend, they've been making some steps, after gaining fair few victories over the US SEC, buying new assets to support the XRP ecosystem. The ecosystem has suffered decline for a long time and they're working hard to revive it and gain stronger hands in the cryptocurrency market. Considering the fact that banks and governments would always welcome a CBDC idea, they'll take it from there and be a better medium for banks and governments to work with an experienced company in the digital currency niche. Ripple has the chance to grow, but it'll take them some time to boost their growth and they've spent so much money with the court case with the US SEC. I've followed ripple for long and looking out to see what would be the outcome of this decision.
2088  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Factors that's why others are hesitant to start in crypto on: May 19, 2023, 09:00:07 PM
Mentioning money as a factor why people delay their motives of investing into cryptocurrency is quite true, but that doesn't stop anyone if they're determined to exhaust energy and work to get bitcoin. When money is the barrier, energy is always there to make space for more opportunities. All over many marketplaces, people offer services for bitcoin and that's a good way to start investing into cryptocurrency. So, in a way, money shouldn't be the reason why a person won't invest into cryptocurrency. However, plenty of money is required to get high profits and loss in the market, yet starting from somewhere is better than ignoring the investment entirely despite being interested in the market.
2089  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Transfer bitcoins without internet on: May 19, 2023, 08:37:24 PM
It has been discussed somewhere in the forum and a user recommended https://blockstream.com/satellite/ where you can configure any satellite antenna in your area to receive signals from the blockstream satellite network and transact bitcoin free of charge without any internet. You'll just have to set it up, position the antenna to face the sky, and read carefully their main page, the requirements and help. The blockchain technology keeps advancing, people shouldn't bother about some barriers, as most barriers are being worked on by developers and settled to avoid future dispute, which may erupt from the government.
2090  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: 1xbit exit from the forum, leason for newbies on: May 19, 2023, 08:01:30 PM
The only lesson to learn on 1xbit is that newbies should read their threads before participating in the casino or playing on the casino. I've never seen any 1xbit campaign thread or promoter that doesn't have a warning tag or negative feedback, so newbies should focus mainly on reading those feedback, It'll save them from the risk of moving ahead to stake games on 1xbit casino. I don't remember, for sometimes, seeing members who wear 1xbit signature, but never thought of it that they've left the forum for good. Their campaign accepts members with negative feedback and it's the main reason why many users with trust issues always promote them for money despite knowing how deceitful the casino is to players.
2091  Other / Beginners & Help / Switching hardware wallets won't solve a thing; different chips in cold wallets on: May 18, 2023, 11:20:13 AM
It's disappointing to be deceived by a hardware wallet brand or company who claims that your seed phrases are safe with them, while it's all for promotional purposes. I've read, different complaints in the forum and other cryptocurrency communities like reddit, people saying I'll not use ledger it's closed source and uses a third party chip, I'm moving forward with Trezor or Keepkey. Not realizing that some of these hardware wallets share similar flaws; chips.

In this thread, I listed different computer chips used in hardware wallets. Hope it helps.

Microcontroller Unit is a type of computer chip used to interact with other electronic devices, it executes commands through, microprocessors, memory and other peripherals. TV remote control  is a good example of a device that uses a microcontroller unit. Hence, such a chip is not safe for storing your cryptocurrency, according to Kraken after successfully discovering a way to hack Trezor hardware, who utilizing such chip, warned users not to allow anybody get hold of their hardware wallet and also to enable their Bip39 passphrase with the Trezor client. The chip is vulnerable to voltage and clock glitching attacks. Hardware wallets that use MCU to secure your recovery phrase are Trezor and Keepkey wallets. So, if you are moving away from Trezor to keepkey you didn't make any changes.

Secure Elements is a type of computer chip mainly designed to secure sensitive information and to deny unauthorized access to such information, It is added to hardware wallets to provide high security storage to the cryptography keys. Secure element is also used by banks to secure information on credit cards and has been proven able to withstand different physical attacks. Ledger is the only hardware wallet that uses this computer chip to secure your recovery phrase. Hence, the secure element is divided into two the firmware that is under NDA, which is closed source, and the SDK and application loaded code; open source. Ledger is working strides ahead to open their source codes running on secure element, but unfortunately some chip related information cannot be disclosed to everyone due their disclosure agreement with Secure Element engineers.

Safe Memory Chips It's a bit different from Microcontroler unit but has not been tested by any third party; lab. So, safe memory chips' claim to be secure from attacks is not yet proven and shouldn't be considered a better chip to store recovery phrases. To add such chip into a hardware wallet, MCU is required to facilitate fast transactions. That means Safe memory chips shifts the recovery phrase to MCU before it sends any transaction. This opens room for vulnerability and increase attack risks. Wallets that use Safe memory chips are; coldcard and bitbox

Quick question, please is coldcard open or closed source?

2092  Other / Meta / Re: Account rank and posts on: May 18, 2023, 08:16:11 AM
Not that I frown at people deciding to delete their posts for the sole purpose of de-ranking themselves and on the other hand it doesn't in anyway fault forum rule in doing that.

But am just raising a concern I conceive in mind after reading your comment, like in a situation where an OP gets to delete a particular post of his which contains quality information, solves certain regularly asked questions that might be of a burden to a newbie or any member rank at all. So to me I think if many people continue doing that we might lose some answers we could have easily sight or pointed to in the forum when we meet similar questions that such reply/answers could have resolved or been of help to but then it already deleted by the OP.

I don't know if you understand the perspective am talking from.

I understand your view, but, since these people have control over their contents they can do to it whatever they wish. Although, their answers can't be the only one in a thread, tens to hundreds of responses are seen in a thread. What could be of importance is deleted threads, which goes away with other people's responses under the thread. Thereby, reducing the post count of the owner and that of the members who responded to the thread. I've seen some users who complained about miscalculated post counts not knowing that a thread they responded to in the past must have been deleted, either by the Op or the moderator.
2093  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Trust Wallet 5 May Update on: May 17, 2023, 11:52:52 AM
Often a times trust wallet update pops up when you login to the app, when clicked on, it refers back to google playstore. Although, I can't see the photo due to the imgur issue, but if it's a popup message that links to the playstore, then you just have to verify the authenticity of the app by looking at the reviews and new features added to it. However, if you're not comfortable with the new update, and the current version is compatible no need to update yet, unless the new update has a warning or new security features, then do the needful and update the app, also, remember to back up your private keys.
2094  Economy / Economics / Re: Are we headed to a nowhere economic direction ? on: May 17, 2023, 11:35:18 AM
The world is moving to a digital economy, gone are the days we all hoped completely on natural resources to survive. The government capitalized on those resources such that citizen didn't profit much from the gift of nature. I see us in a world where our natural resources are now implanted in the brain of everyone. People should come up with ideas that'll change their finance and boost personal economy. If you must spend the money at hand, do it wisely. Money works in different ways, you can invest the funds on affiliate marketing if you need faster returns, that's if you're excellent with Ads. Keeping the money in the bank doesn't add up, sometimes I see it as a waste of time. It's better you use the money to promote a profitable product.
2095  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: One beauty of heirachy in Bitcoin forum. on: May 17, 2023, 09:08:15 AM
It's rare to find a forum without the ranking features, but this forum's ranking method is quite difficult such that members are being encouraged to rank in the forum and also some members feel happy to get to the top rank. I've noticed that when something is made simple but not simpler people would want to climb just to standout from other users or get to the same rank with some users. However, the hierarchy in the forum has two beautiful rewards; trusts and reputation. Brands trust high ranked members because of the reputation they've got in the forum. If a member is at the top rank and doesn't have a good trust history, such a member may not enjoy completely the gifts the forum has to offer.
2096  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Whitepaper seen in the street of Edinburgh, Scotland on: May 14, 2023, 06:04:06 PM

Maybe not adding any links and qr codes was a good idea. Many people will look at such posters as if they were ads and adding links or codes could make these people believe they're being targeted or redirected. They might thing that somebody is pushing bitcoin into their pocket, the way street vendors sell you perfume or roses.

The way this is presented is fine as it can attract people, make them curious to know more, but also isn't too aggressive. I prefer this way of rising awareness than celebrities telling me that I should use this or that or apps and push messages finding their way into my phone without my consent.

I don't know how others recognize a whitepaper when they see one, but it's not necessary to add any Qr code, aside that people would be skeptic to scan the code, the name bitcoin on the paper covers it all. Its left for the person to search online about bitcoin and they'll find the whitepaper somehow. The ad looks like it's accepted by the neighborhood regarding how strongly fixed it is, the nailing and all, it took some time to get it there. In some neighborhoods it would be removed immediately by people that don't like seeing posters on walls.
2097  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can i make 100 $ daily from online casinos on: May 14, 2023, 05:14:50 PM
To make $100 dollars a day through gambling depends on your gambling skills and how well you tend to improve it, but it's almost impossible to do that every single day because game changes and it may not play in your favor some days. I'd advise you to channel the money into affiliate marketing for stake. They've got nice percentage for their affiliates. If you take that route, $100 a day can be achieved given a short period. Google adwords and social media platforms like facebook is a good place to begin the journey.
2098  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin Whitepaper seen in the street of Edinburgh, Scotland on: May 14, 2023, 03:27:15 PM
I'll always applaud any little contribution to the dissemination of Bitcoin to a new audience, but this caught my attention to think about how many people would read this? it is in a good spot for passersby, though the environment is not like a place where people stand to discuss or if benches were there it would have attracted more readers. The poster is okay and fine if it were to be stamped beside a bus stop. Whichever way, I'd say this form of awareness may not require people to read them there, it just needs them to see it and look it up on Google, then read in the comfort of their home.

2099  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: You are still very early on: May 14, 2023, 01:51:57 PM
We're never late, its just like in the past, 2016, not everyone would believe bitcoin will hit an ath upto 60k in 2021. It's always a huge opportunity to hodl bitcoin any moment we found it. Just like a reddit user explained on his post, if bitcoin can reach 40k, 30k, or even 60k from a starting price of 0$ what kind of ATH do we expect when it shoots from 20k. The price increase of bitcoin is just beginning and I have confirmed that it'll definitely skyrocket again and people who didn't trust it now would regret not buying at 20k. Most people end up buying when the price is high and run away when it plunges down again. They keep counting themselves unlucky, while Fud is eating dip into their minds.

2100  Economy / Economics / Re: The thin line between contentment & living below potential, Patience & wasting t on: May 14, 2023, 01:24:55 PM
Contentment is minding your business, yet that doesn't stop a person from having a keen eye on other successful businesses. I think being versatile is the thin line between contentment and living below potential. We all have big potentials and goals to achieve, but things change quickly. One shouldn't, in the name of contentment, focus on fusty or outdated goals, that's why some who claim to be contented don't earn as much as they aimed to achieve in the start of their journey, thereby living below their potential. On the other hand, when a person doesn't know when to stop waiting that's a waste of time not patience. We can't wait forever in the name of being patience, trying different methods is what opens way for opportunities in the life of a business man.
