2081  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why going for 1.02 odds and below on: September 18, 2022, 11:40:22 AM
Bookmakers are very clever because the odds are dynamic, not static, and alter as the event progresses. This is due to an algorithm that simulates the event's conditions. If we have event with A and B that are competing against each other and by virtue, A can beat B but you know anything can happen in a game, if B decides to surprise the audience, the odds will begin to change by shifting more odds to A because they know they wouldn't win and the B will reduce drastically especially when the time is already elapsing or closer to the end.

It is like a waste of time to me to play these kinds of odds, but bettors with a lot of money will take the risk when they know they will win.
2082  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Choices: Gamble or Help the poor ? on: September 18, 2022, 11:27:32 AM
In order to understand the psychology of gamblers, i have decided to come up few questions for discussions, and here is the first one.

Suppose that you are a responsible gambler who have allocated a certain portion of money to gamble each month. Now you came across a poor person/family who is in urgent need of money. Will you quit the gambling for that month and give the allocated money to the poor family or will you prefer to gamble as you can't live without gambling ?

You cannot be a responsible gambler and fail to see those in need of immediate assistance due to your gaming ambitions. It is your money actually and it is your will to render help or not because sometimes even if we have the means to help, you can't do it every time, you can't help all the families in need or the poor people who have one or two challenges. However, the fact that you are using gambling as a justification to avoid helping the people who need it is not a quality of a responsible gambler, you can always play another time or month if you help people but those in need may not survive another day.
2083  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: When betting becomes to high on: September 17, 2022, 12:39:32 PM
There is nothing like addicting as a habit to me like having rows of games in parlaying, I personally know that it is exhausting arranging plenty of games in a row because you will have to deal with the possibilities of the win or cut and you have to deal with the emotions of long games and the bad side of it, I repeat them frequently without counting, and it gives me a headache.
Single bets are always easy to predict and win than having multiple bets however, to have many odds, you have to play it that way to have more potential cashout, but it is killing the money I do have on my bet platform.
2084  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2022/2023 on: September 17, 2022, 11:50:18 AM
Both teams struggled to find quality in the final third of the game to score as the game got off to a slow start. While Southampton struggled to break through the home defense, Aston Villa slowly took possession of the game and tried to score an early goal, and their efforts paid off because four minutes before the break, Ramsey scored through Watkins' rebound to break up the score, Aston Villa 1 -0 Southampton.

With this win Aston Villa moved up one place to 13th, still behind Southampton. After the international break, Gerrard's side will play at Leeds, while Southampton will host Everton in early October.

Despite Aston Villa arrow formation to penetrate Southampton, it looks so crowded with all the pressure they were given but I must confess that Ramsey played his wing wholeheartedly, even when the referee was having doubt about the goal and had to use Var even when it wasn't necessary, that goal he made for Aston Villa gave them hope but Southampton didn't give up a bit.

Judging the two team, Aston villa has potential to move forward than Southamptonn because they have conceded little goals when you compare the two team performance and the way how other teams are doing poorly, I believe they have a chance to catch up to the top of the table.
2085  Economy / Economics / Re: What define your success, "money, fame or achievement"? on: September 16, 2022, 08:07:18 PM
It's simple, for me success in this world is when I can be happy with everything I have and be grateful for it.
The success I want is when I can feel calm in life, can worship without feeling chased by work or other worldly things, can be grateful for what I have, and can live life to the best of my ability.
And it is undeniable, money can indeed make us happy, but it cannot guarantee our happiness, because happiness is not only a matter of money that can make our lives calm, happy and also peaceful.

Today's environment ignores the small wins that bring happiness and focuses on the large things that create internal peer pressure. Social media has even made it worse today that the youth follows what others do and take them as their role model. Sadly, this is not how real life operates. In order to be happy, you must be contented with what you have, and if you are, the wealth of others won't bother you at all. I still believe that achievement encompasses both fame and wealth, if you work hard and smart, you will definitely accomplish them over time.
2086  Economy / Economics / Re: Age as a factor depreciating some people of their dreams on: September 16, 2022, 07:10:43 PM
We must also acknowledge that society treats the elderly as being disposable, so it is not really surprising that the elderly think of themselves in the same way, but the truth is that the amount of knowledge and experience people have accumulated over the decades they have been alive can make the elderly incredibly valuable and productive, it is just that society doesn't really appreciate them, and an example of this is the job market in which if you are above a certain age companies are not going to hire you regardless of how good you are at your job.

I think this is base on the society we live and grow up, we have some environment that do place elderly people above other people, before they do anything, they have to consult them before they do anything.
You know how they used to say that what an elderly person can see when they sit down, even when a juvenile climb a mask, they wouldn't see them, elderly people are always experience because as they age, the more experience they accumulate, however, some elderly people act sometimes as young ones from the way they talk.
2087  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: It Is Dangerous To Completely Rely On Cryptocurrencies on: September 15, 2022, 01:50:26 PM
Before I was among the fellas that solely depend on crypto for financial breakthroughs. What I have seen so far from crypto, has made me understand that anything can happen in crypto at any given time. Like the issue of Luna crash, how it happened. With such encounters in crypto, I have come to realize that one shouldn't rely on(crypto) what you don't know about its future tomorrow. A country you reside in can declare bitcoin illegal when you less expected

The problem with early investors is that they don't do research before they invest in any project, anyone with moderate knowledge will know that luna was on the verge of collapse aside from the criticism they were having from other blockchain enthusiasts and developers who were warning them of the Ponzi scheme they brought others too.
Some people do criticise bitcoin as air money but you can create something out of nothing, that's not how nature works just like principles f energy of conversation, but they leverage ustc and got manipulated by a whale and have made us all suffer from this crash.
Hold into good alts if you must but bitcoin will always be above all and that's what I will recommend.

I have seen several forums with this feature, if you are used to Reddit, then you will know the purpose of this, I never knew this could be implemented on the forum SMF. It keeps conversation clean and makes you easily follow up on interesting conversations between the original poster/post and other users.
If this is possible, then I think there is a need to implement other simple proposals and suggestions the forum members have posted on the Meta board, not really the ones that will cost the forum security, the simple ones are okay.

...........
Why do I think this topic belongs to Meta Board @Agbe
2089  Economy / Economics / Re: Age as a factor depreciating some people of their dreams on: September 15, 2022, 01:13:02 PM
If you believe you are too old to accomplish anything, I do consider it as an excuse to bring it out for yourself. If you believe you are going to defy any odd times, you need the determination to overcome a lot of things.
What do you have to say about the standard age limitations that are put on jobs? At first, I assumed that's what you were talking about. When an age difference is used as a yardstick for measuring success, I believe that some people may not be able to realize their dreams since certain goals require external support.
Let's take the example of music. The artist may have a sweet, talented voice that produces a good melody, but in order to be recognized, you need sponsors and a reputable label to pay your bills because they believe in you. At the moment, I don't believe any record label in the US that tops the Apple Music chart and Billboard would want to sign an elderly person, I hope I'm making some sense.
2090  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Do not panic. Everything will get better on: September 15, 2022, 09:24:58 AM
Today the price of bitcoin dropped by around 10% and is likely to drop again below $20k, of course this is a serious test for us, many panicked so they sold cheaply and of course lost money, but as an experienced cryptocurrencies investor I recommend holding and be patient, I'm sure the market will rise soon.

The market was recovering due to some positive news but I think these dumps are short terms and it will continue for now due to some other factors like the warrant that was spread by the South Korean government for the arrest of Do Kwon, the famous Luna master who allowed many investors to lose their wealth and also, the Us mortgage rate in the US has increased, there was also an announcement on United Kingdom increase in inflation, we are also expecting some MT Gox to release to some bitcoin to their owners, so some traders are closing their positions so they don't get liquidated by funny moves or volatility. So many invents are coming that will make the market recover a bit and dump too, so sit tight and hodl.
2091  Economy / Economics / Re: "Be your own Bank with Bitcoin" - A reminder why this is so important! on: September 15, 2022, 09:13:12 AM
https://www.reuters.com/world/middle-east/woman-holds-up-lebanese-bank-13000-her-own-money-advocacy-group-says-2022-09-14/

" One woman with a gun and some associates briefly held hostages at a branch of BLOM Bank (BLOM.BY) in the capital Beirut, before leaving with more than $13,000 in cash from her account.... "

" Lebanon's banks have locked most depositors out of their savings since an economic crisis took hold three years ago, leaving much of the population unable to pay for basics. "

Let's just imagine this scenario where you have to "rob" a Bank to get access to your own money that you deposited with them. We think these things are impossible, but it is happening and this is a reminder that it does still happen.  Angry

Bitcoin allows you to be your OWN Bank .....and it allows you to have access to your own money, without any intermediary having the power to block it. Just make sure that you have sole access to your Private keys.  Wink

Okay but this is bad and this might not be the best analogy to spread adoption in my opinion. I mean holding a living as a hostage because you weren't allowed to have access to money with a gun on bank premises is a big offence. Banks can be so frustrating and I can talk from experience but you don't want to get locked up just to get your $13k by threatening the lives of others, you may end up spending all of that in court or probably end up in prisons if the bank terms and conditions don't qualify you to have access to that money.

However, this can be avoided in the first place if you don't keep money in the bank, you can switch to bitcoin as an alternative to protect your assets but it comes with its own merit and demerit, volatility has been the reason why it discourages some people to keep their emergency money or savings in bitcoin. Let's say, for example, the woman bought $13k worth of bitcoin when the price was at $40k, that will be a loss to her with half of the value right now and now that the sister is sick and in need of money for treatments, she will have to sell because they can't hold while another life is at stake. Each of its own with its advantages and disadvantages.
2092  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: WHEN WAS YOUR WORST MOMENT AND CHALLENGE WITH BITCOIN ? on: September 15, 2022, 08:55:05 AM
I believe everyone here onboard this platform once had a very  though and challenging moment with bitcoin at the initial start. At first it seems unrealistic then looks like a scam but at last it was a real deal. sharing our experiences and worst moment might just help others build on and also bring us back to the very first beginning of our journey into bitcoin then. This would also help us evaluate how far we have gone and also creates room for more on-boarding of more adopters. Sharing our experiences on how we started would also encourage more to be steadfast  in the system. This would go a long way in helping others at the verge of giving up on bitcoin.

How was your worst moment and experience like and how were you able to handle it then ?

There has never been a time in bitcoin one should have a feeling or doubt it to be a scam, it has never and will never, however, investments are subjective to people, the way I may buy bitcoin may be different from the way others will, the time you buy it is also another factor.
Take a look at Coinfessions on Twitter and you will feel bad about how many people have lost money into crypto(Bitcoin and Alts) and they all have a common thing from their confessions and mistakes, they all FOMO, bought at the top in anticipation of making it big, they didn't just invest a little, they invested heavily and that is the euphoria of the market if you are bullish when others who bought during the bear market all sold. The rule is simple: buy low(bear market) and sell high(bull run).
2093  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why I have bought Bitcoin ? on: September 15, 2022, 08:42:10 AM
It is so easy to get donations if your charity or foundation is legit. Still, the channel to receive them are always difficult, especially the centralized ones that will make you go through a process just to collect a gift or some changes, using banks for example can be frustrating. You know what they can't be trusted, your account could be flagged anytime at any moment but bitcoin has helped us facilitate these obstacles. Your Bitcoin is yours and will remain in your wallet provided that you own the private key, don't live your bitcoins on exchanges.

We all have what we believe in, we have Muslims, Christians, atheist and other traditional who are in bitcoin that belongs to one or two of the aforementioned, they will support your charity if they so wish with bitcoin without any middle person, this is part of the freedom bitcoin gives you.
2094  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How to choose an online casino? on: September 14, 2022, 05:10:09 PM
I think it's a shame that people are wasting their time and money on casino games. It's such a waste of money, and there are so many other things you could be doing with it! I'm not saying that you should never play a casino game, but I think that if you're going to play them at all, you should only do it in moderation. You don't want to end up spending all night in front of your screen when you could be out having fun with friends or family!

Why are you so sad? It doesnt cost you to give a recommendation or reply when someone asked a question. It is up to people how they choose to live their own life, we have some people who are introverts, they prefer to have conversations online than to see people in public places, that's their way of life and they enjoyed them without people.

Well established Casinos today are quite different from the ones you see in classic ones, they are fun and if I recall very well, they even have a place where you can interact with people and chat with others, they also have Discord servers where you see people communicating daily and asked after one another anytime they don't see them online.
2095  Economy / Gambling / Re: The Biggest Wins with lowest risks in Casino History on: September 14, 2022, 04:47:44 PM
I think that casino is like a sport event or cinema. You pay money for emotions, for fun. When i go gambling i decide before it that this money i spend. If i win smth - it is just additional bonus, additional emotions.
And if someone wants to get money for life from casino - it is a big mistake, often it means that this man will lose all his money without any result.

The first gambling thumb rule is to never depend on the outcome of your bets, doing so will seriously harm both you and your plans. Imagine betting your school money on something bigger in the hopes of getting more, if it doesn't work out as planned, you'll probably regret it and start engaging in addictive behaviours.
If you practice and perfect your betting technique while playing for pleasure and you win a lot, take that as your lucky day. However, doing the opposite without any skills to get money out of gambling is suicide to financial life.

This is the same view that I hold as well, that is what they are for and casinos tell you that directly, they are for entertainment purposes and anyone thinking about making a fortune with them is probably going to end up being incredibly disappointed by the results they get, after all we need to think about this by being rational, a casino exist to provide a service and any business is looking to make money as a result of providing that service, if they instead lost money to the gamblers then it will be impossible for them to remain in business for long which is against what they want to achieve, so it is the gamblers that have to lose money for the casino to remain in business.

Casinos will advise you to bet for fun because that is how they are allowed to operate; if they advise you to play to win a fortune, gaming houses will be packed with people queuing up out of greed, and naturally, more than 80% of them will lose. Gambling is actually for fun if one plays without putting their greed before them.

2096  Economy / Gambling / Re: Vulnerabilities in gambling websites in past on: September 14, 2022, 04:14:38 PM
All I know is that gambling could be described as what it is by people personally. The question is are you gambling responsively or not? These question should be able to settle a lot of misunderstandings about gambling.

If bet houses and casinos can get licences, then it must have been reason through and fro before any government could grant that kind of wish. It is your responsibility to gamble the way you like as long as you are above 18+, you have no problem with anyone or to be judged the way you gamble.

Quote
In my opinion, there is nothing wrong with gambling, it might be addictive too but the industry grew this much because people want to associate with something. You cannot be going to parties, or cinemas or watch football every day, some people do not even like some of the listed ones, gambling is their option. So, gambling will be surely ethical and healthy for the person that is not addicted to it but has it entertaining and keeps their company.

You see mate, everything in life has an optimum level, people can go over length just to prove something. Gambling is a probability and risk that involves money but the pathetic ones will always go overboard and this thing doesnt just don't happen in gambling alone, it happens in other parts of life, even the crypto we have today, there are thousands of investors who have enjoyed big profits from the bull run and there are others who have lost heavily and still called crypto scam investments, it is their mistake and should deal with it for failing to buy at the bottom.
2097  Economy / Gambling / Re: My list of good crypto casinos on: September 14, 2022, 03:54:54 PM
Ah, finally my first post  Cheesy. If you click any casino link on that website, just watch the address bar and you will see very long strange-looking links - these are affiliate links. The intention is very clear and simple, the topic starter is an affiliate and will get depending on the deal either a revenue share from every customer or maybe even a flat fee. So this is purely commercial and likely, cause the brands are no names generate no value.

The links appear precisely as you saw them, nice caught! If Op is doing a genuine list of well reputable casinos that accept crypto deposits and ends up generating nonsense lists, something shady is going on. He truly wants to produce a nice list and not a single casino from this forum that has tasted the time of reputation with people is on that page, I can't say if I have seen any of the name casinos he organizes on that page, they don't have an announcement thread here, no single support or representative, and he stated they are trustworthy. I would encourage everyone to avoid the casinos listed.
2098  Economy / Gambling / Re: The History Of Gambling. on: September 13, 2022, 11:46:14 PM
Addiction is quite danger, but it is possible to stay within the limits. Around the World most of the suicides were taking place out of money problem and this is not just about gambling money.

Sometimes, an addicted person needs Isolation and attention that should be carefully examined either gambling or non-gambling, a gambler who is addicted may want to stay out of the limit but if they found their self in some situations they cannot control, they will definitely go back. Take, for instance, a gambler that has borrowed money from different people, especially loan sharks who always threaten their customers who don't return the money.

Quote
Gambling in some cases have helped them recover from financial struggle and in some cases it have made them go deep into financial problems. Until we don't have our control gambling is not the choice of entertainment for anyone.

Gambling is relative though, there are some gamblers who went from little financial struggle and still end up crying out because they encounter another financial struggle that is more than the first one.
2099  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bonus Abuse: Who is to Blame? on: September 13, 2022, 11:33:59 PM
Some people will remember this. Epic Games once gave Grand Theft Auto 5 as a gift to everyone. And I remember many people exploited it, created new accounts and sold those gta5 copies to people who are unaware its already free. So I mean when you give people opportunity they will definitely exploit. Its not something about gambling or gambler nature or mentality. Websites should close possible loopholes. They are to blame.
You give people a free access and yet it is still your fault because they took advantage of that? It’s just like you give people bread everyday and yet they sold if to other people in exchange of money I guess you are wrong here.

If there’s a bonus abuse most probably the gambler is the one to blame here, the site never encourage you to abuse it and that is really agains their policy so let’s not blame them that you become greedy because you saw the opportunity, if something bad happen to you that is because of your fault.

Whatever the case may be, if you are giving a bonus to take one and you take more than that, that is definitely abuse. Even by analogy, taking more than what was prescribed for you by a doctor is abuse to yourself. If one is given a chance to enjoy some benefits, you don't go extreme trying to outsmart what they are doing, the greed may not allow others to benefit because you took it all by yourself. If a bonus with policy is set to less than or equal to 1 per person, one should never exceed that.

History always has it that Arsenal always find it hard to penetrate through Liverpool but now that Mane who always create a chance for them is gone, who knows they can protect their defences and focus on attack, Tottenham is the same, it is not a team they can flip with goals.

Liverpool are not as strong as Arsenal this season, so there is a chance that Arsenal will defeat Liverpool, even though history shows that Liverpool always look very hard to be defeated by Arsenal; this season, the story will change because Mikel Arteta's Team are very ready to compete and restore Arsenal's dignity.

I can't help but laugh. Are you opposing my motion because you support Arsenal or because you believe Arteta can miraculously turn the match around? No doubt, Arsenal is the new talk of the league table, but trust me, they won't go far, when you need them the most, they usually disappoint, and they play great when no one cares.
We have had a week without a match, the following week will be exciting, and I am looking forward to seeing what they play against Brentford on Saturday. I expect a straight win and would love to have this risk on the bookie.
