Until there's something better the Avalon is by far the most efficient mining device on the market.

BTW there are now two confirmed in the wild(7 modules).

Bitcoin bug = changes to hashing algorithm or the like. Things beyond their control is how I interpreted.
2083  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: SCAMMER: Cablepair (Tom) from BTCFPGA.com/bitcoinasic.net on: February 01, 2013, 05:13:25 PM
Thomas Van Riper aka (cablepair), you are a piece of shit.

thomas@thomasvanriper.com - Make sure to let him know he can fuck himself.
(315) 908-2693 - Seriously, tell him to fuck himself.

Thomas Van Riper
CNY Media
PO Box 246
Hannibal, NY 13074

Can anyone find his home address from this info? Google voice phone number, PO Box address... This scam should've been more obvious...

Dave also profited from this scam and should be labeled as a scammer for his PR role in this scam.

The bolded is out of line, if Dave was just an employee. He was the one that told everyone to chargeback instead of submitting refunds.

The rest is fine, Tom has had more than enough time to return everyone's BTC or let us know what's up.
2084  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Avalon ASIC] Batch #2 pre-Sale Thread on: February 01, 2013, 05:01:54 PM
Why is that a problem?
More units, less money per unit.

Not too worried about a few more units from Avalon in the face of AsicMiner's 12Th and possibly even BFL(someday) if they manage to remove their thumbs from their nether regions. As I recall many hashrate doomsday prognosticators had us at many times current hashrate by now.

WTH are you saying? Sad

You just sent $30,000 to order from a batch that was postponed yesterday TBA within the week?
2087  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Avalon ASIC] Batch #2 pre-Sale Thread on: February 01, 2013, 04:40:50 PM
You mean 2000, right? Not 3000...

Nope $3000 is right for 6 modules. I'd take that, particularly as it's not vaporware and has the potential to be upgraded further if/when faster and/or more energy efficient modules become available. Speed is probably closer to 135Gh/s.
2088  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Avalon ASIC] Batch #2 pre-Sale Thread on: February 01, 2013, 04:14:18 PM
I like the changes.

I hope you'll give us plenty of warning prior to opening the 2nd batch order window.
2089  Other / Archival / Re: btt on: February 01, 2013, 04:11:43 PM
This change was made to Avalon's website mere minutes ago...

This product is becoming more & more attractive.
2090  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL, Box of fans and Avalon trolling: [Announcement] Avalon ASIC Ships on: February 01, 2013, 03:55:06 PM
I'm trying to go easy on Josh, he has anger issues and it's been a rough week with Avalon shipping and ASICMiner apparently ready to come online within days. If only I knew where to ship this case of antacids. Cheesy
2091  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon is (unfortunately) a scam. Here is why. on: February 01, 2013, 03:42:41 PM
There are still people who claim that 9/11 didn't happen, or was a controlled demoloition, and no amount of evidence will convince them otherwise. Likewise for the Moon landings. Every new piece of evidence is just something to be explained away with handwaving and ever more complex Ptolemaic models of the Solar System, and then ignored and conveniently forgotten about in the next discussion thread. Real Internet super-Herros they are.

Might have something to do with WTC7 bud...unless you really believe a small office fire can cause a steel framed skyscraper to enter physically impossible freefall and collapse on it's own footprint. If you do believe that, I'd like to sell you a bridge.

LOL Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy
Yeah they may need a person like me so they look more real.
But I still don't understand why don't they post some undeniable proof, and make me and people like me sthu one and forever.
Until that moment comes I still say its a scam, or at least they are lying to some extend, just like BFL, and today a new delay was posted about batch 2. Why?

Seems the only proof you'll accept is for everyone at bitcoin foundation to drive their new 88Gh Avalon to your home, hook it up for you, and hash for you.

https://bitcoinfoundation.org/blog/?p=112

They exist man...get over it.

As to batch 2 they're still changing specs. This update occurred while I was typing what appears ^^ up there.

Modular Layout
Avalon units are capable of holding up to fourmultiple hashing modules. These modules are independent; three come preinstalled, one upgrade slot is available. and upgrade slot(s) is available.

The new spec seems to call for 6 slots and not 4.

Gotta love the helicopter bennie reference and the Avalon ASIC making minimum wage thing. ;p
2093  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: AVALON ASIC has delivered first RIG (68GH/s Confirmed) 2nd out proof on: February 01, 2013, 03:14:28 PM
I believe that four module version was sent to the bitcoin foundation.
2094  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL, Box of fans and Avalon trolling: [Announcement] Avalon ASIC Ships on: February 01, 2013, 03:11:21 PM
If & when BFL ever actually ships any ASIC products their products will have to meet huge expectations as well.

Wasn't their last delay allegedly because they were too incompetent inexperienced to recognize that plastic is a poor heat conductor and therefore plastic packaging is a bad idea for their application? Maybe it was a couple delays ago, I can't even keep track of their excuses anymore.
2095  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: February 01, 2013, 02:51:39 PM
156Gh confirmed. 20+Th(68-88Gh*300) in batch 1, though nobody seems to have an accurate count on how much of that capacity has shipped.
2096  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon is (unfortunately) a scam. Here is why. on: February 01, 2013, 08:43:23 AM
Right. Open discussion is fine as long as it's favorable to companies that advertise on bitcointalk.org. Check.

I'd have avoided the part about BFL still advertising like mad without shipping anything if I were you too btw. What kin ya say? Now there's some sketchy business tactics.

But....BFL hasn't said "Units have shipped!!!",so we all know they are still working on them & no one is expecting delivery.Avalon customers were told "We're shipping!!!" & only 1 has recieved a unit. Are there more in transit  Huh No one knows.....................Thats the main beef,no info or communication about the other 298 units (2 were shipped from Avalon per thier post).

Correct. The appropriate BFLism is "We've scheduled shipments for blah blah" because no one can prove you haven't scheduled a shipment.
2097  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon going to cut into BFL customers pocket books? on: February 01, 2013, 07:30:16 AM
Hey... you can get an Avalon unit to do 720 GH/s.  It's totally easy.  Just put 12 BFL singles in the case.  Just a bit more wattage than a 4 card Avalon and you'll have room to spare AND you'll get almost 3/4 of a TH out of an Avalon.

BTW, for creativeIdiot who keeps bitching about BFLs power estimates, I would like to point out that power estimates exceeded expectations for the Minirig.  So if you want to talk track record, it's a wash.  So stop with your lies about how we've never estimated power properly.  We made ONE (count it), ONE mistake and you've been banking on it forever.  Of course, you just can't be bothered to mention that the minirig power estimates came in under spec, for which we over delivered on promises.  God forbid you tell the truth in all your bullshit.

Actually you didn't ship on time either, not even close. Power estimates wrong, shipping estimates wrong. Stick to your pie in the sky estimates bud and don't try to stand on your record...it sucks. Wink
2098  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon going to cut into BFL customers pocket books? on: February 01, 2013, 12:47:33 AM
Stated otherwise...if BFL is again as lousy at guesstimating their power consumption as they are at guesstimating their shipping dates then they're hosed. You have to have a large vat of kool-aid to think BFL is in a good position when they're set to come in third in a three man race.
2099  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: AVALON ASIC has delivered first RIG (68GH/s Confirmed) on: January 31, 2013, 09:44:53 PM
FYI...tantrums don't really come through over the Interwebz as no one can tell if you're really stomping your feet &/or holding your breath.

entering panic sell mode

Of late this is typically followed by regret and panic re-buy mode.
