2081  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain New Miner S7-LN 2.7T @697W discussion (Not official) on: June 07, 2016, 09:32:15 PM
3,000 rpm on the S7 is noticeably less noisy, but will you be able to sleep with it in the same room.  NO.

Where are the additional pics. from those that received theirs already?  Would like to see more, like how the power supply bracket is attached and if there's anything in the 3rd blade location or is it just empty?
3000RPM on the S7 and hashrate to 2.5Th... (have batch 6) and the miner is as loud as my PC with it's cooling fans full-tilt.... and its a dell Precision 690... Its not quiet.   But I myself an used to that sound in my room so to each their own I guess.

I have an S3 in my parents garage, and it does get loud when it gets heatsoaked.  Its higher in the rafters because that's the only location there's space, ethernet access and power.  So I can see how it would bother people and run high fan speed if trapped in your bedroom or livingroom.... But for the one in my living room, when its not at full fan speed, you hardly notice its there.  It only kicks up fan speed for a min or two every once in a while, or if I forget to leave a window open during the day.
This is what my friend is trying to see if the S7-LN is like.
2082  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain New Miner S7-LN 2.7T @697W discussion (Not official) on: June 07, 2016, 12:50:50 AM
I remember my S3 run mostly with around 1800rpm.
But indeed it would be nice to have a sound proof from the miner
An S3 can be kept in the same room as you with no sound woes if the ambient temp in the room stays under 75-80*.   They are super quiet TBH....  But those are <= 2000RPM fans....

So it can't really be a basis of comparison IMHO =)  He is just curious if he will need to do any special soundproofing is he buys one.

*** values in mBTC/Mh/day (mBTC/Gh/day for sha256 and blake algos)

Even still, I have myr-gr removed from my round-robin of algos.   It never pays off more than when I have it off my list.

also I am sad to say that there is no x11evo support with the increased password length.   gotta wait for it to hit the main release I guess =/

Anyone else get issues with their nvidia cards getting stuck in P2 or even P8 power states?

Every miner app always puts the card into P2, which max performance is P0....

*Edit* all my tests on skein worked fine.

I removed it because it just wasnt being as profitable as it should have been... probably cause it was still a new algo leveling out.
2085  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: June 06, 2016, 05:32:57 PM
They are in a position to undercut bitmain by a large margin, not sure why they don't capitalize on it. At least 1k of the S9 price is pure profit, and they can get away with it since they are the only ones selling 14/16nm stuff.

^^^^ This is sooo true.  They have the ability to take a lot of customers from bitmain if they would do it.
2086  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain New Miner S7-LN 2.7T @697W discussion (Not official) on: June 06, 2016, 05:10:49 PM
Could someone drop a video on youtube with one of these running in a room by itself?   My buddy wants to see how bad it is because he is considering ordering one.  He couldn't bear his S7, so I took it in for him for a profit split.

If possible to show an S7 running in the same room alone as well for comparison, that would be super =)

If only it was windows 8.1.

I believe it should be fine all the way back to Windows XP as far as the batch scripting goes.... and if its XP64;  I think it would work this exact same copy of miner apps and everything....

Not that I would consider ever running that OS since I switched from it to 7  Wink

he's been busy...

I noticed two algos pop up yesterday....

*edit*

http://cryptomining-blog.com/tag/x11evo-nvidia-miner/  For the version I am using for x11evo.

Added x11evo and nist5 to my normalized script.  Critiqued a few small things.  Yes I have it purposely re-setting the PASS variable each loop so it can be updated without reloading the batch.  IDK if it's windows 10 or what, but I never knew that they took the command interpreter out of the stone age  =)  Ill always be an old-skool guy wishing there was a local BBS I could dial up to for old times sake.

On another note:
Also added SKEIN line formatted that you can insert.  If you do, don't forget to add it's normalization to the ADDY variable that I left ready to cut and paste into there.  I have the SKEIN line outside the main loop so it stays inactive because it just didn't seem to be as profitable as the pool was telling me it was.  Maybe it was just a run in low luck... but I think it was luck leveling out... who knows.

I also suggest you guys don't comment my code segments;  it will make it a LOT easier to spot my updates and keep the pages less cluttered Wink

Im thinking theres an issue with hashrate/difficulty being assigned to a lower hash coin.

I.E.  they peobably wont point an S7's amount of hashrate at a 1K diff coin;  it would cause issues I would think.

Or it could be the fact that the pool software is calculating based on current exchange price which can fluctuate greatly in a short amount of time.  Just because its selling for that now;  doesnt mean it will when the coins mature and there will be a buyer at that price.....

Or:
Maybe my guesses here are totally wrong.

But that profitability you copied over is pretty good for those coins.

OK.

The batch has been cleaned up, and im glad to report that a dos variable doesn't have a max value like the olden days.....

So....   Its all streamlined, and a lot easier to manage/modify.  The algo names show as the window titles to easier see what algo is working.  No longer needing to bring it to the front.
Need to edit profitability?  no longer do you have to update all the scripts.   And tuning intensity is a breeze.  If you use your machine like I do, you will be able to just wait for the offending algo to be present, then make a change the batch intensity and close just the miner app, and it will restart automatically with the batch file changes updated.

same here 5 hours in total, I hope i didn't loose all that shares Sad

2094  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: The quest for the Antminer S5 Ribbon Data cable. on: June 05, 2016, 08:13:16 PM
Bitmain will not sell the cables to u. I asked a long time ago and they replied about them being custom cabled so im guessing that means basically they are all premade and they ordered the entire batch of cables for every s5 that could ever be made and some so they cant start new orders for only a handful of cables which i personally agree with 100% because they buy in bulk to get the huge discounts on either premade cables or the parts to make the cables themselves but i highly doubt they made them in their factory and its likely they outsourced it to another factory near by. But i can splice all the cables with some digikey ribon cables i have to extend them but thats annoying for sure. I need them for the water cooling kits for s5's.

On another note....i also want the firmware modded to stop the waste bitmain said they will fix but its been weeks since they emailed me that reply so i might need to shoot them another email and ask about the status. Basically the miner will run full tilt with or without connection to the internet. That is wasteful especially if your network goes down randomly without warning for a period of time but also since it runs full tilt 24/7 no matter what i noticed the 80 degrees cuttoff doesnt work. I left the fan slightly unhooked by mistake when i reassembled it and plugged the miner up to my laptop not to the network and when to config it and add a second pool to the miner and i noticed i could feel radiating heat and when i looked at the status page the fan was at zero rpm (my fault completely) but the temps were at 94 degrees c. Thats 14 degrees past the auto cutoff for mining so it should have stopped then waited for it to cool off then start again over and over but since it runs full tilt 24/7 it makes the auto shut off stop working and keeps it running. Now this was only after about a minute of it being booted up so i got extremely lucky but im hesitant to move the miner to another location after finding this out because what if a pump dies or if a fan dies?? It will end up like asicminer prismas all over again. Bitmain said this was going to be fixed for sure but its a hugeeee risk and im not sure others know about this yet because whos stupid enough to accidentally test the auto protection thing for overheatting?? Well damnit!!! This guy is! Ur welcome! Lol jk but ya bitmain said its a built in feature to test the boards out for when network is reattached however long down the road but thats a stupid feature in my opinion. It only wastes the electricity the miners saved and people with comcast know that comcast cuts network connections in md at least without warning sometimes or they reboot stuff that takes 15-20 mins to come back up and authenticate with the main comcast servers so this wastes alot of power especially during a rain storm or just a standard internet outage. Ne one else notice this?? I havent seen other posts about it.

My S7 does this.......  running full-tilt when connection is lost.

The final rental graph for as much as I could fit on it.  Funny it was showing rejects/dead pool yet on the pool it is a nice graph averaging near 5Th..... so that's just one more detail that doesn't make sense...

Here's something else that started today;  maybe from the maintenance that's being done today (which I am guessing is happening):  My S3 is on the list multiple times..... very odd.  Normally they disappear off the list pretty quickly.  Also the Nicehash miner is still listed....  so this is my assumption that anyone can try and confirm:  The pool lists miners connected that have shares that have yet to mature and hit the exchange.  So in the case of the slow SHA coins, once they mature ill probably see it drop off the list?

i tired both of your methods and on different versions but it still tells me my payout is btc  Huh
Crackfoo needs to help you then.. the pool owner.

Crackfoo please help this man.

Agreed.  Maybe he has a shorter/different acronym for that coin.....   Id suggest remaining with a BTC account until you can get the word from him as to not loose any submitted hash to an invalid address.

This happens now and then.

Bursh it off, and check back in a few hours.

Could be the pools connection to the exchange........ or a few other things.   It has always been fine later.   If it lasts more than half a day to a day, then worry.

FYI for my rental, I am definitely in the green.

Seems like the pool 24 hour estimate was pretty close.

25mbtc in a rental brought back ~27.5.  This is including the pending balance, and subtracting the recent average of 4.75mbtc/day as well as the .9-1.1 mbtc that is usually pending.

So... given the rejected at pool values, dead pool, etc... I still seem to have made what I was supposed to.  A little in the positive even after the NH fees.

Maybe because I am paying 0.0024/Gh and the pool is showing 0.0032 Wink

I have also seen this behavior but not for the last few days.
The individual miners do not show up but, in my case, the summary shows 0 miners but a hashrate existed for the algo.

Edit: and I was getting valid shares and being paid for the hashes

good, that's what really matters!  Sometimes these issues are from crackfoo making modifications/upgrades to the boxes, etc.   Which makes sense since its saturday =)

I've found another problem, this time a little more serious.

Miners are disappearing.

Twice now I've noticed a miner missing from the list, The miner is ok without any interrruptions and has
been mining for several hours but it doesn't show up in the list and it's hash isn't counted in the sum.

If I stop the miner and restart it, it immediately pops up on the list and starts registering hash.

The second time it occurred mining lyra2v2, I don't recall the first.

This has happened to me.

Your miner is hashing fine and getting accepted shares, but the website thinks its disconnected.   I verified my coin shares during that time and it seemed to be fine.

Same with the rejected hashrate.  my machine was reported at 99% reject rate, but my coin shares were just a few fractions of a percent under my network share percentage the whole time until the rejected hashrate was zero....

The fact that the pool deltas your shares really adds a monkey wrench to the guestimizing and real-time spot calculations.

Maybe its the change to GH/day for sha256?

You mean the change from** Huh

Their site still says its based off a price/Th/Day.  Which is roughly around 3.3BTC/Ph/Day recently as far as pool profitability.

But even so;  I am requesting (as per their instructions) 2.8 BTC/Th.  Which is insanely expensive.
I switched it up from 0.0028 which was the old value that worked months ago.  (2.8mBTC/Th/day was a good base minimum for when pool profitability was dipping below 0.0000021 per Gh.)

So even if I switch it to p=5000, it still shows pool up and stratum connects giving me low value work.

I am almost done with NH.   The main reason I like them is the "in-between-clients time" is managed quite well.

See;  the extra rewards line;  it is credited hashrate;  thus not counting towards my hashrate.   I may have found a small loophole in their system that works to our benefit.

Pretty sure that Extra Rewards are paid to the hash selling not us, the buyer, no different than stale shares.
Again Pretty sure all of the items below Delta %, in the table, are penalties for us, the buyers.

NH is failing hardcore.

I have my S7 with a password of p=2.8

which equates to 2.8BTC/Th/Day minimum rental rate;  this feature used to work.

sadly;  it no longer is.  They want us to be shafted in paying the lower prices...
