We have watched a very positive side of Fenerbahce today. They already had a big advantage but they still didn't want to make do with that. This 4-1 victory has carried them to the group stage very easily. Irfan Can was the most impressive player of this match. His second goal in the match was very classy. They would have scored even more than this as they missed many more chances also.

This is a good sign for them before the group stage. If they get lucky about having a favourable group also, they should be able to continue on their way without big issues.

In addition to that, Fenerbahce are having matches with many goals lately thanks to Jorge Jesus. I think over 2.5 goals would be a great choice for their matches these days.
2082  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread -- 2022/23 | Qualifying on: August 25, 2022, 05:35:24 PM
The groups have been drawn in the Champions League:

Honestly I don't see any "group of death". But Group B might be the most complicated one anyway. Even the fourth seeded team which are Club Brugge can get surprising results in the matches. It is very difficult to predict which teams would qualify for next round.

I can't imagine what Trabzonspor would do in Group G if they were able to eliminate Copenhagen. I don't expect any success from Copenhagen in that very tough group.

My favourite teams to advance to next round group by group are like this:

Group A => Ajax, Liverpool
Group B => Atletico Madrid, Porto
Group C => Bayern Munich, Barcelona
Group D => Tottenham, Marseille
Group E => Chelsea, Milan
Group F => Real Madrid, Leipzig
Group G => Manchester City, Dortmund
Group H => PSG, Juventus

Blast Premier matches are on again.

Today the biggest match is clearly G2 - BIG. Both of these teams had unsatisfying results in the group stage and this is the last chance for them. The loser of this round is out of the tournament completely. G2 have taken a step and changed two of their players in their main roster. They still need time to have a solid chemistry of course. BIG are more stable when it comes to making changes. Krimbo is the only change and it's been a long time since then. BIG are a more prepared team in terms of strategies also.

I think that BIG can benefit from G2's current condition and eliminate them. But as for a score prediction, I'm favouring a 2-1 BIG victory.

Turkish teams have big difficulties in convincing their young talents to stay and play in the Turkish Super League and the Ahmetcan Kaplan transfer was a very good example for that.

We all know how much teams like Ajax love to search and find this kind of talents to fill the team with them. Of course they have a great academy also as some of you said. But they like to do research like e.g. Dortmund do also. These teams are characteristically the same actually. The difference between them is Ajax are becoming the champions of their league while Dortmund are in Bayern Munich's shadow in the Bundesliga. But I know that the priority of these teams is to help the young talents reach their potential rather than building a team that can become the champions every season.

I think that the Trabzonspor - Galatasaray match can be full of surprises. Because I don't see a very clear favourite side of this match. Trabzonspor haven't been doing well lately. They lost to FC Copenhagen and Antalyaspor recently and they have the rematch in the Champions League today. If Trabzonspor don't manage to eliminate FC Copenhagen today I think they might not be well-prepared mentally for the Galatasaray match.

I'd like to remind you of their last league match here. Galatasaray could have really won if they were able to keep their 2-0 advantage. Now they don't have problems on finding many goal opportunities but there is some issue with finishing. But they might still be able to defeat Trabzonspor this time if they catch them off guard.

Benfica were highly dominant against Dynamo Kiev in this round. I don't mean that it was surprising. Because Dynamo Kiev have already lost very important players due to the war between Ukraine and Russia. This has weakened their squad too much. Their best performance was in Ukraine but even that wasn't enough to score a goal.

I still can't believe how Fenerbahce have been eliminated by a this much weak Dynamo Kiev. It was like a golden opportunity for Fenerbahce. It is sad to see Turkish teams having unexpected results in comfortable matchups. Maybe it was because the season was newly starting and Fenerbahce weren't also fully ready. But Dynamo Kiev's luck has run out against Benfica. By the way it looks like Benfica haven't lost much power in their attacking line even though they lost Darwin Nunez.

Turkey have only one team left in the Champions League now. Things didn't go the way they expected for Fenerbahce and they are most probably in the Europa League group stage soon. But Trabzonspor still have a chance for the group stage in the Champions League.

I saw some negative things in their first match against FC Copenhagen. Their defensive performance wasn't good enough and this caused them to lose by 2-1. The goals Trabzonspor conceded were very simple. They will need to defend their opponent tighter in their home stadium to still have a chance for eliminating them. On the other hand, they lost to Antalyaspor by a huge score like 5-2 in the Turkish Super League a few days ago.

So I wonder whether they will have problems on boosting their morale for the rematch here. Trabzonspor need to score the first goal otherwise they would be worse mentally and be eliminated most probably.
2088  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: French Soccer League Predictions and Discussion Thread (Ligue 1) on: August 23, 2022, 11:24:43 AM
I see some people saying that Lille are one of the main opponents of PSG in the Ligue 1. However I don't believe this is true anymore. Their last head-to-heads can be shown as a proof for that also. I have added it below:

I respect Lille's success like being the champions of the league two seasons ago. But this was only related to their having a special season, that's all. There has been a huge power difference between these teams for years. PSG showed this once again by that 7-1 win.

In short, there is actually no team in the Ligue 1 that can keep up with PSG every season. As long as we don't see any other team building a very qualified squad like PSG, this will never change. PSG have real opponents in only the Champions league now.

The rumours about Frenkie de Jong to Manchester United are still on interestingly. I don't find this realistic because Manchester United have already signed Casemiro officially. They were looking for a defensive midfielder and they have found who they exactly wanted. There is no meaning in spending a lot of money for another midfielder when they already did the same for Casemiro. This news would be gone after some time I guess.

Now that Brooklyn Nets is not interested in future draft picks for an Irving trade, it seems a bit clear that KD is staying? The Nets wanted a good roster indeed to keep KD who's not getting younger. I'm still interested in another shake-up though like what happened to Minnesota Timberwolves.

So Lebron's wish of wanting Irving to play with him in LA is out. With Westbrook's $47 million salary, it seems that the Lakers will be forced to consider more future draft picks if it wants to ship him to another team or they will be forced for him to stay. So, will Westbrook wear skirt again? Cheesy

This would be the dream for Nets while it is a nightmare for Lakers.  Grin  Because Lakers and more importantly Lebron want to get rid of Westbrook before the season starts. Westbrook's performance was very inadequate and they can't go on with him clearly. This would be enough to make Lebron disappointed and he might not make the same effort he made last season. I hope Lakers find a solid guard if they can't trade Irving.

It is definitely an easy day for Roma and Juventus both. Cremonese are already a weak opponent for Roma and I think the same about Sampdoria also. Juventus started better than I expected by a 3-0 victory. Maybe their effort would have been bigger than that but the most important thing is their not missing many chances. This time they should be able to find more goal opportunities and beat Sampdoria by at least a gap of two goals.

I think it was clear that it wasn't going to be a comfortable match for Trabzonspor. Antalyaspor proved this by a huge victory over them. Trabzonspor were thinking about the second leg in the Champions League also of course. This must have affected them mentally as a result. I don't expect this to affect their performance in their next league matches. Next time they are hosting Galatasaray and they need to focus on that match even more to win.

Atalanta - Milan match is the main event of the day. Milan are slightly the favourite side according to the odds. This doesn't surprise me as Milan won the last match here. It is harder to predict what can happen at the beginning of the season of course but Milan still seem credible. I'm favouring Milan to win by a one-goal gap. Atalanta had problems on keeping up with them previously but this time I feel like they can.
2096  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2022/2023 on: August 21, 2022, 04:10:27 PM
Chelsea have seemed worse than last season so far. They should have been able to defeat Leeds. They were very ineffective at scoring goals that they couldn't keep up with the productivity of their opponent. I also agree with the people who believe that Chelsea need a centre-forward now. Havertz is not enough for them and he isn't even a striker normally. Bringing a capable striker would solve the problems in their attacking line.
2097  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: French Soccer League Predictions and Discussion Thread (Ligue 1) on: August 20, 2022, 02:40:52 PM
Monaco - Lens is almost starting. This is a very close match I believe even though bookmakers don't think exactly the same. Each team won an away match against the other last season. Now they started similarly too. If I choose a side to bet on my choice would be Monaco. Their lineup seems more trustworthy to me now. They might manage to have their revenge here.

Tottenham won thanks to Kane in a match that they didn't perform satisfyingly. Wolves might have shocked them again after doing it last season too. This win would boost Tottenham's morale after drawing with Chelsea.

Crystal Palace - Aston Villa is the most attracting match now. The home team have just scored but it was cancelled so it is still 1-1. Aston Villa couldn't start well to the season and they are still struggling.

I have been examining the new transfer rumours today and something special has attracted my attention. It is like Manchester United are all over the news now. They look like the most active team to go for new players these days. I know that it is normal because they need to make big changes. But nearly all of their targets are unwilling to join them of course. It is really hard for them to bring big players unless they achieve something good this season.

News about Casemiro to Manchester United is almost every where if not everywhere, ain't he a big player ? They are trying to convince/ tempting him with a big salary to attract him.
News says he would be in a talk with Carlos Ancellotti to discuss his move as he wants to try new opportunities elsewhere, who's playing a bigger role here ? Agent Ronaldo ? Maybe Yes!
Manchester United needs a Complete Defensive Midfielder and Casemiro fits in very well with arguments. Manchester United fans wants it all done before Monday, also I hope Harry Maguire gets benched this weekend.

I support the Casemiro move fully. They needed a defensive midfielder in the end. He was one of the best candidates to fill in the position perfectly. I'm just not contented with their spending an unnecessary amount of money for his wage. They were just desperate and accepted to pay more than he deserved. He is great of course but this wage is not ideal for a midfielder at this age.
