2101  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Bitcoin's price, at ang ating mental health. on: July 19, 2020, 03:45:43 PM
There was this news that always sticks to my mind after knowing about it and it haunts me up to this day. Somewhere in Parañaque City, there was this guy who killed his whole family before committing suicide and when the police investigated the case they had found out that the guy took a massive loan and is not able to pay for the said loan amounting to millions of pesos. That drove him to kill his family - wife and kids, and then take his life after. Very sad news for someone who is depressed because of financial problems. For me it is not the end of the world. If you fail, move on and learn the lessons of life.
So anong connect nito sa bitcoin? Could have been more connected if nalulong sya sa trading, then he loaned for it just to get lose again but that's not the case of what have you told. Irrelevant to this thread I guess.

But then there's the mental health problem, sa pilipinas di to masyadong big deal kasi madami nag iisip sa atin na ' kaartehan' lang ito kasi di na eexperience ng iba. I get anxious too, especially sa mga situation na hindi ideal for me but then I can contain myself within the moment, just need to focus onto something bright. That is a heartbreaking news tho.
2102  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Buying food or groceries with Bitcoin on: July 19, 2020, 02:10:43 PM
Actually Satoshi Nakamoto's main goal was to create Bitcoin not as a digital asset, but as a currency used for payments.
But it is created inflationary so using it as a currency would not stick at it if it does not reach a stable price, now talking about stabilization do you think that bitcoin could possibly be stable at some point in time?
though termed currency, it became an inflationary asset due to its volatility. I think Satoshi knew it would come to this point, everything could have happened differently when he said it is a digital asset on the whitepaper.

Make the pandemic  situation now to multiply financial transactions with Bitcoin, in addition to preventing the spread of the corona virus. Can promote Bitcoin as an
alternative to fiat.
We can promote bitcoin as it can help during this time but people would choose what is more convenient and that is digital currencies. Not now for bitcoin I suppose.
2103  Other / Meta / Re: Security risk for more than 7300 bitcointalk users? on: July 18, 2020, 08:55:14 PM
Sensitive?
Sensitive? (2)

It's a bounty response spreadsheet... what is sensitive about it? I mean the bounty hunters were not forced to fill the Google response form on gun point. They did it willingly.
Basically a compilation of spreadsheet on every bounty, what's so sensitive about it? Can't even use to get into someone's dm in telegram. But the fact that someone is collecting it up is against the will of a bounty hunter, they don't fill those bounty forms just to be included in here, this is what I find wrong about the sheet. Nonetheless, I can't see anything more here, nothing to worry about  Cool
2104  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Stop loss after buying coin on: July 18, 2020, 08:12:02 PM
Hi all

is it possible to put a stop loss on a bought coin after you have bought it ? Just wondering because i am still learning and have only just come across stop loss. I use coinbase pro - is it possible on there?

Yes ofcourse. You can always stop your loss whenever you wanted to. But I believe that is a panic selling. Because you are foresee that coin to continue going down, better to cut the loss as soon as possible.
Literally a panic selling, stop loss is different from that, stop loss is where you decide to get out of a losing situation, well we can say that panic selling is a kind of stop loss since you're doing the same thing as stopping your loss but in very short term. Panic selling is for weak hands who are easily distracted by the declining price as early as they enter their buying position.

But to avoid that, before you buy a coin for a trade, make sure that you've think about it carefully.
Do not buy it if you are not really confident, you might just end up lossing.
Doing a self technical analysis will do so much to avoid the unwanted loss or better you won't be needing any stop loss anymore.
2105  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Panahon Na Nga Ba Maging "Cashless Society" ang Pilipinas? on: July 18, 2020, 07:22:10 PM
Also, bago pa maging posible ang mga ganito, nagrerequire din ng isang sustained and reliable internet para continuous ang cashless transactions.
which is also another problem to us, alam naman din natin na bulok ang sistema ng majority ng ISP ng Pilipinas, though si Converge medyo nagkakaroon din ng konting problema lalo na limited pa lang ang mga lugar na meron sila,... isa ito sa mga dapat pagtuunan ng pansin kung gusto nating umunlad kahit may pandemiyang kinakaharap. Connections between us is really important.
Siguro factor dito yung pagiging bago nila at syempre yung limited coverage aspect nya. Pero to be honest, I find converge services better than PLDT.

2106  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If bitcoin doesn't reach $500K in 3 years.... on: July 18, 2020, 05:04:47 PM
Historical as it seems but these people were just playing around with the mind of people, they are exaggerating such thing just to make an impact and we need to understand that these people are not moving carelessly.
What I think that these people made them to say this is because of what the bitcoin is doing on the past year, who could have thought that this coin would reach a thousand dollars in value? I mean with those year of poor internet literacy people are in doubt in moving information above their head. But to be honest, I want him to see on national tv eating his uh uh Grin
2107  Local / Pamilihan / Re: BABALA: Twitter Hacked Incident! Don`t Click on: July 17, 2020, 08:39:41 PM
Wala pa ring nilalabas na result ng investigation, mukang mahihirapan sila dito or distracted sila masyado to resolve this, idk.
2108  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How Altcoins Failed To Win Over Bitcoin on: July 17, 2020, 08:10:27 PM
Why do you think bitcoin is still on the top after a decade of existence? this has been asked numerous times in the forum but it can be answer by a common sense, a simply because bitcoin was first will do. Now that follows that bitcoin is secure  supported by decentralization. And as if altcoins were all created to be bitcoin, I believe that altcoins were made because the cryptomarket needs it, though there are some shitcoins we called but let's not touch them. Altcoins is giving a different taste of the market, imagine a store with just one product, dispassionate right?
2109  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: how big? on: July 17, 2020, 05:31:17 PM
Wow really great for this thread to read. This is how online gambling platform experience should be keeping in trust with the platform while playing the game. Meaning that online gambling platform has a high moral now when it comes to huge beat. Imagine that a 10 Million dollar lost is something that a huge leap of the development of online gambling games experience.

So how big really we are now in online gambling? I think the answer is clear. It is really huge now probably due to pandemic where gambler chose online gambling for now?

Online gambling is already big and it's expected to increase, but what OP's point is particularly on the crypto online gambling which we have no idea yet on how big it is, but if you read some of the previous comments, you might see some estimate that might interest you and might give you an idea on how big the market approximately.
I am expecting the online gambling to grow too because of what is happening in the world, shops are closed due to the pandemic and so are the casinos, now if people want to gamble they probably be searching the alternative for it and so they'll find the online gambling which is more convenient than physical ones. Online gambling is a multi-million industry, just look how much a single online casino costs and wagered every day, house always win! The only issue with online gambling is the fairness of the game, well for some casino it is tested and proven, how about the new ones?
2110  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Physical Casinos Decoded : on: July 17, 2020, 03:50:37 PM
i've read about most of these tricks. however, i prefer online casinos mostly because of convenience

This year I think it would continue to be online itself, as the cases have not stopped and still continue to rise leading to fear among people to just go out and gamble in the casinos.
What more likely to happen is most physical casino will get web developers to design their own online casino, money would not be a problem for them as they don't pay electricity that much these past months. So I think there will be more of competition among these casino to attract players, more bonuses and more promotions to expect. Gambling won't stop.

Though you can wear mask, maintain physical distance but when it can be done online at your ease people may prefer that for the time being before everything gets normal and casinos would work the full fledge.
New normal may do but that does not avoid them from the virus, virus can easily attach to surfaces, they are playing cards or slots there are still a high chance of them getting the virus from any thing in physical casino.
2111  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Isn't this the best time for Bitcoin? on: July 17, 2020, 02:07:31 PM
indeed the best time to buy and accumulate Bitcoin is now, in the area of $ 9000 is a good support for Bitcoin, if it does not last it will be to $ 8500, just buy gradually so that your risk of loss is less
Uhmm from what I see, if you are going to buy bitcoin now that might be a regret soon, I got a feeling that the price will get low to $7K again before getting a huge pump. The price is good for anyone to buy, such  strong support in $9K range but until when? when it will break? and if it breaks where it will go, up or down? During this strong resistance, it is really hard to predict, it might jump any time soon.
2112  Economy / Economics / Re: Do Not Pray for an Economic Crisis! on: July 16, 2020, 07:15:16 PM
Nobody knows. I think the price was expected to fall with the covid19 and economic crisis that we have. Despite that, bitcoin showed its toughness.
How can we know if bitcoin is tested during these times? How can we tell? There was a huge fall in early March but upon reading the charts, every start of the month seem to be dive time for bitcoin. See it from December last year til March, then it stops when lockdown was impose all over the world.

During the halving, many thought that price will tank as part of the pattern that we knew before. And with the crisis, so that should be a combination of both factors to push bitcoin in tanking but it didn't.
This is the confusing part now, halving took place during the pandemic time, now it is a dark room next time we are getting a halving coz we can't assume what would happen if we see the recent past halving.
Halving seems to be an ordinary event for bitcoin, we didn't see that much price spike maybe because the speculation was hard it went to 50/50?
2113  Local / Pilipinas / Re: More online stores, less tax generated on: July 16, 2020, 07:05:45 PM
Online seller na kumikita annually ng 250K and up ay kailangang magbayad ng buwis, it is by the book.

2114  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Jeff Horn vs. Tim Tszyu on: July 16, 2020, 04:04:23 PM
it isn't Jeff Horn who got the most paid fight with Pacquiao? Not the professional profit for the boxing tho, but for what he pay for the judges lol. Scored unanimous after Pacman slaughtered him in the ring, I'm skeptical with this guys. Now his opponent is undefeated champ, guess they'll be into clash, toe-to-toe fight, I'm all in for Tim after what he did with Pacman. Any undefeated want to keep their record, 1 up for Tszyu.
2115  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Warning: crypto related twitter accounts (Binance, Bitcoin, TRON, &more) hacked on: July 16, 2020, 03:01:24 PM
I smell a false flag here.

Accounts with millions of followers , Obama, Biden, Gates, Musk, Bezos involved. https://www.zerohedge.com/markets/bill-gates-elon-musk-twitter-accounts-hacked-nigerian-bitcoin-scam-over-53000-stolen

Who will be painted as the baddie here?

Yep you guessed it BITCOIN, criminals fleecing unsuspecting saps, it needs to be banned/brought under strict control will be the call all over the bought and paid for mainstream media

Nah, it was the platform that was hacked so I don't think that it will have a big impact on bitcoin. Besides, this is not the first time that we have seen bitcoin being used by criminals, so I don't think that the narrative behind this hacks will focus on bitcoin but more on Twitter itself. They are a social platform offering service to their customers, so where is the security?? And as I have in the other thread, there's a possibility that Twitter will be liable, specially that those involved are high profile accounts.

And Jack is a pro-bitcoiner.
Both twitter and bitcoin is on fire here, not just the other way around but the effect on bitcoin will be huge since this is the reason why there was a breaching in the first place to scam people using bitcoin. Now I'm thinking how many people are flagging bitcoin as false instrument for investment. I'm quite in doubt with the number of accounts that has been hacked, how did they do it? How about their 2FA authenticator?

What @theymos have concluded might just happened without authenticating the caller.  twitter support Huh
2116  Economy / Economics / Re: Interesting perspective of Investors on: July 15, 2020, 08:18:48 PM
Why do we still need this? I mean this is not factual at all, a poll in twitter, really? Is this a subject for discussion?

What if I told you, I'm selling my bitcoins right now, would you believe me?

Don't need much more of data like this, it is futile to look on these.
2117  Local / Others (Pilipinas) / Re: SEC WARNS AGAINST FORSAGE, RCashOnline and The Saint John on: July 15, 2020, 07:06:28 PM
2118  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Potential Valorant Esports betting sites on: July 15, 2020, 05:41:12 PM
I can see lot of YouTube streamers are playing valorant game in the recent days which means this game also have some fan base so definitely in future we can see lot of tournaments related to this game which eventually makes more gambling site includes this game into their betting options.

This game has a lot of potential to boom and most of those FPS streamers in Facebook, Youtube, and even in Twitch tried playing it. They are enjoying the game due to due similarities between CS:GO and I knew that it will become one of the best games in the future. I already watched some mini tournaments or local tournaments and those plays are awesome. I want to see those professional players compete with each other in this new game Valorant. RIOT never failed us to release a new game where we can compete with other people within different countries. I played in SEA server and the thrill is there. Hoping that International tournaments regarding this game should be put into place in ESPORTS. If that happens, bettings will also become popular if this game is used in a betting sites.

its because there are streamers that dont stick on one game but they are streaming different games and sometimes its a plus point because there are viewers that love to see new content  .
Well sometimes it is not about the game when we watch streamers on twitch or youtube, sometimes we are watching because of the player, for example shroud and Aceu, I'm a fan of them coz they display extraordinary aim, so if they be playing apex, cs:go , valorant it does not matter to me anymore.

riot is a known gaming brand so its expected that what theyl be releasing is a fun an action packed games  . online games like this can be easily included on esports due thier popularity and thats also the time where betting sites include it on thier platform   .
It is expected to be set on stage for world tournaments, in fact there are  already tournament happening now in different regions, there are also local tournament in different countries. These days with the pandemic where most of us are locked at home, E-sports is the best way to play and kill your boring time, more people will play and will try to play these games. Valorant has seen some huge potential, so this might be included to betting sites, or we already have it now?
2119  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Worried my Trezor, could have been tampered with. (Reset can help?) on: July 15, 2020, 04:01:16 PM
If you bought it from an authorized seller you can worry less about it especially if that is the main business of them coz they are building reputation of their own too on this field, but it is best if bought directly from the supplier you can guarantee its not tampered 99%, like a freshly made wallet with brand new smell. There were cases reported of missing funds in an hardware wallet, most probably they acquire it from a random seller in an online shopping store like Amazon coz they are likely to be scammed by it, tampered somehow. You can reset it as many times as you want to be safe, no need to be anxious about it lol.
2120  Economy / Economics / Re: The Decentralized Economy During COVID-19 on: July 14, 2020, 07:18:40 PM
This is absolutely misleading, DeFi isn't a competitor of traditional finance, all it does is that it allows you to take collaterized loans or flash loans (loans that are instantly returned back). You can't take a loan to start a business, you can't take mortgage, you can't take a student loan, you can't even ask for a small emergency loan.

In the future, I think we'll see more and more asset tokenization. That will be the basis for liquid secured loan markets. This includes real property mortgages, auto loans, etc.
I think we have a thread about this tokenization of asset, I've already read trials about tokenization, eithere China or Russia but as far as I know there have been some conflicts with tokenization coz people are still in doubt with these new kind of assets. We need probably more years to establish a well founded system that will work, plus the maturing population of the world matters. You can't convince an 80 year old to transfer his money into digital, they don't even know what twitter is.

I think once we have more robust decentralized/digital ID protocols and reputation-based systems, we'll also see more integration of unsecured credit into DeFi protocols.
I guess this is the assignment of the tech companies now for the future, guess they already started testing one of these, especially the digital IDs.

The big problem for now, besides volatility and the problems of DAI-like stablecoins, is that so much money is going to be lost to bad code and unreliable smart contracts. This stuff is nowhere near prime time. So when I talk about this stuff, I'm talking long term, like decades from now. And that's if this all isn't just empty hype and the whole sector doesn't fizzle out.
In next 5 to 8 years for me, it would not take a decade for us to build a system like this, especially now that we have this global dilemma.
