2101  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How many different cryptocoins we need on: February 24, 2018, 01:49:41 PM
Well, I do not see the so many cryptos as a problem. I tend to look at them as we have several companies on the floor of the stock exchange. Does that confuse us having so many stocks? Of course the answer is no. There should be more cryotos in circulation so that investors will have varieties to pick from. The more the merrier and that gives us the advantage from bargaining well.
2102  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ICO scam!! on: February 22, 2018, 08:38:33 AM
The word scam is thrown around too fast around here.

As far as what can be considered a straight up scam, those are actually pretty rare and easy to spot.
These are the kind where everything is fake, the team, the company, the website.
Nothing of it exists and the after the ico they disapear and run away with your money.
If you do even a simple amount of research, you can quickly see if it is a completely fake company or not.

What most people nowadays call scams, are really just failed business ventures and startups.
What is more common is that a startup raises funds through an ICO, and the business goes nowhere, and the value of the coin or token drops below ICO price and stays there.
The most common reason why ICO startups fail is because of an incompetent tech team.
A lot of these companies gain no benefit having blockchain and they can't even implement it well.
No progress is made and the whole thing just dies.

You have to realize, that tokens and coins are not stocks in the company, if they have no real use then the value will fall.

I quite agree with you to some extent. However, there are projects which are intentionally dumped in the market by the devs. How do we explain the case of Swisscoin (SIC) whose total supply was increased few days after it came to coinexchange as the devs pushed more coins into the market. That act was a pure scam and many holders quickly sold off causing price to dip greatly.

2104  Economy / Economics / Re: Update: Venezuelan state issued crypto to be backed by oil, gas, gold & diamond on: February 21, 2018, 05:16:15 PM
Apparently Venezuela has already raised $735 million from it's pre-sale:

https://www.rt.com/business/419397-venezuela-petro-cryptocurrency-maduro/

Quote
Investors have purchased some $735 million worth of Venezuela’s oil-backed cryptocurrency on the very first day of pre-sale, according to President Nicolas Maduro, who praised it as means of breaching the US financial blockade.

“Today, a cryptocurrency is being born that can take on Superman,” Maduro announced on Tuesday, referring to the US as a comic character. The Venezuelan leader, however, provided no details about the first investors in the ‘petro’, which is backed by the country’s oil, gas, gold and diamond reserves.

“The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela guarantees that it will receive PETRO as a form of payment for national taxes, fees, contributions and public services, taking as a reference the previous day's Venezuelan oil basket price with a discount,” says the official website for the newly-launched asset, which is set to go public next month.
It is a good sign that Venezuela has been able to accomplish that huge amount on presale. If eventually the Petro-crypto gets the country out of the woods, believe me the wide world will not have a better approach than to embrace cryptocurrency. Fans of virtual currency should just hope this succeeds. All the same, thumb up for Venezuela.
2105  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Don't look at btc every five minutes on: February 20, 2018, 07:12:21 PM
This is a mistake a lot of us make. If you track btc every minute you are more prone to panic selling. Btc has a lot of ups and downs, if you are in it long term the short price has little meaning
It isn't easy restricting yourself from looking at the screen every little interval checking for btc price if you are a swing trader or one who needs to sell off at a particular price level. However, this is not a good trading psychology.
2106  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [COREX]Coin ICO / Crypto & Forex / 3WAY concept / PRE ICO 8.March.2018 on: February 20, 2018, 06:12:25 PM
this is very interesting. forex trading combined with Crypto. It would be better if you consider opening a gift campaign for your project so that many people and investors will pay attention to the project. thank you
Yes, it is an interesting project. Though it seems. But running a huge project of crypto and forex on a borrowed technology such as an ERC enabled chain is a bad idea, for me. The devs should create their own blockchain. I hope this won't be another scam and dump project.
2107  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin $20k by July according to Tom Lee on: February 20, 2018, 05:50:05 PM
Do you agree? I think it seems pretty realistic, considering how well it's doing right now.

http://tkcryptos.com/bitcoin-20-000-july-says-tom-lee/
Whether I agree or anyone else agrees with his projection for bitcoin price at $20,000 mid 2018 or not, it's not going to change the reality on ground that will confront bitcoin in days and weeks to come. When it comes to bitcoin we all want to out do one another with our forecasts. Most times, these forecasts have turned out wrong.
2108  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: ERC 20 Tokens Wallet? on: February 19, 2018, 04:34:55 AM
From the very first reply it is clearly mentioned, that myetherwallet is the one that can give the best features as well the support for long term holding. Lot and lots of mobile based wallets have been found around, but none provides the security as well the access to store various altcoins and tokens.
For me MEW really has to metamorphose. I don't find it secured even though a lot of bounties seek to use it and the bounty hunters are embracing it. The import this, export that, save this and all that instructions could be misleading sometimes for users. Especially those who are not tech sauvy. Again, with the MEW everyone gets to see all your tokens once they can copy and paste your public address on the MEW network. This is wrong too.
2109  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Bounties (Altcoins) / Re: ⚡🚀🌕[BOUNTY][AIRDROP]⚡🚀 300k HXT Token for Twitter and Facebook Campaign on: February 18, 2018, 01:31:48 AM
That's not what you wrote..you said tradeable n you can only trade on an exchange..now if ur questions is when they will be released then they will be distributed with in two weeks..or asap..please clearly specify your questions and not ask the same thing over and over again
Looking at it now I will conclude that Hextra is a scam coin. Completed ICO since Nov last year but refused to go external exchange. It had a lot of promises from the devs but it does not seem the devs want to redeem all that. Got investors funds trapped and won't allow them make withdrawals. Whatever happens with the Hextragold bonus before DEC 25? Any answers OP?
2110  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: which new super coin to buy today on: February 15, 2018, 07:41:43 AM
Your best check would be the coinmarketcap.com site as it presents you with each coin supply, the exchange and price. Except you are referring to coins at the ICO stage. On this I tell you to be very careful. ICOs are very risky and full of scams.
2111  Economy / Economics / Re: Why I am quitting ICO's on: February 14, 2018, 07:34:46 PM
I quite agree with the OP and did take the exit measure after my gory experience with the glasscoin ICO last year. Not only was it very stressful trying to buy in at the designated time window which normally didn't last up to 5mins each day, the coins got to the market below the ICO price. I asked myself what the stress was for then? I bought at 0.80 ICO price but glasscoin is yet to attain that price since hitting the exchange.
2112  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Bitcoin is taken more seriously than Dogecoin? on: February 14, 2018, 04:03:47 PM
The obvious reason would be because bitcoin it is the first digital currency ever made.  All existing and emerging cryptos are based on bitcoin   Its prices are likewise based on bitcoin.  So obviously since bitcoin is well known compared to dogecoin, investors will choose bitcoin.
When compared to the dogecoin, bitcoin being the first digital currency ever made would be a lousy line of reasoning in my opinion. Have you ever taken a look at the circulating supply of dogecoin that is in billions while the total supply of bitcoin is a mere 21million ever to be minted? You think supply doesn't count in determining the value of a coin? It does, of course. Wait until something is added to the total bitcoin supply and you will see how it will plunge like BCC did from a height if $360+ to $15+  as soon as its ponzi game was over.
2113  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Binance warns ❗️❗️❗️ on: February 14, 2018, 11:03:31 AM
So I send you a gift and then you double the gift and return it to me? Lol...I thought all these doubling masquerading sites had gone extinct. Cheap attempt to scam there. Well, anyone with a pair of  reading eyes would see how a scam it is. No doubt, I know some greedy fellows will still fall for this.
2114  Economy / Economics / Re: IMF Chief Lagarde: Global Cryptocurrency Regulation Is Inevitable on: February 14, 2018, 08:11:39 AM
I agree with her as long as the regulation is help to prevent money laundering and the financing of terrorist or any other criminal activities I am fully supporting the regulation of cryptocurrencies. We should also agree that our national governments are losing national income because of some miners and traders not paying the right taxes. The United Nations should take this topic seriously as the future of cryptocurrencies will be mostly affected by it.
How the purported IMF regulation is going to help curb illicit financial engagement and terrorism is what I don't get. How? Is fiat like the dollar, euro, pounds, naira not regulated? Yet we still have money laundering and all what going in the world. Allowing bitcoin to be regulated means allowing it to be controlled by the same institutions and people Satoshi wanted to keep it away from.
2115  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Apple founder has sold all his Bitcoin on: February 14, 2018, 07:52:27 AM
Apple's co-founder Steve Wozniak confirms he has sold all his Bitcoin.

As I have said several times, all the whales are getting out. They know the party is over.
That Wozniak sold his coins is immaterial to the crypto world. He isn't even an authority here. So why should anyone give a rat ear for his decision to FUD the community in the first place. Of course one day the JP Morgan guy would also come to the open and reveal how much of a bitcoin he is hoarding. The truth is that we shouldn't take a news piece as this to mean anything but FUD.
2116  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: xrp welcomed in dubai. on: February 13, 2018, 09:30:51 PM
This should be some great news for ripple and it should positively reflect in its price level but for its too large a supply. I do not hold a single ripple though I should begin to consider getting some now.
2117  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I want a long term investment what s the best choice for now? on: February 12, 2018, 04:53:10 PM
If you are going long, choose coins that are not more than a dollar in price. But make sure that these  penny stocks have good use case and not bloated imagination of prospect. On this, Dalecoin, bitcoinwhite, ripple, aeron, just to mention but a few.
2118  Economy / Economics / Re: You missed all the trains, not just bitcoin on: February 12, 2018, 01:12:22 PM
The thing is that as humans we really never can know the future. Even those who bought a few tens or hundreds of bitcoin in 2010 would've bought thousands or a lot more if they knew what bitcoin would become later. All that is now hindsight. The present is here but the future we don't know. Even now, many coins are highly underrated and we take them for granted until they begin to push up. We like to chase price just like the Chinese would chase the train when it finally dawns on them of what they missed banning bitcoin. OP, could you give us a peep into the future and list coins that will do well?
2119  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]EQUI - Bridging Crypto with traditional Venture Capital. Presale 01.03 on: February 12, 2018, 07:33:58 AM
Has anyone here seen this thread? https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2892205.0
I just stumbled onto it now and thought you guys should read it as it concerns the EQUI project and scam accusation against it. It might interest a few minds here.
2120  Economy / Economics / Re: Is Satoshi is dead,If not where is he now on: February 12, 2018, 06:00:40 AM
Is Satoshi is dead,If not where is he now and what is he doing right now..Bitcoin price is down sharply. Can he do something?
Dead or alive, Satoshi does not have a direct influence on the manipulation of the price of bitcoin. The way bitcoin is drafted, no single person has that control. It is decentralized. However, not revealing himself is a good thing for him against security if his life. Haven't you read of the recent news of a crypto blogger who made a boast of his wealth on YouTube and was later attacked at his home? He was bruised, tied up and left to die after the robbers made away with his money. If people knew Satoshi whereabouts, it could be worse for him.
