2101  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How hard to detect scams nowadays? on: October 09, 2022, 10:47:23 AM
Once again, don't invest in the brand new project.
The creators of new projects who may be scammers can capitalize and take advantage of that statement that encourages first time investors enforcing that they are the ones who benefit the most from the a new project. It can be tempting to try them out to avoid loosing out, but we must avoid making quick investment decisions under pressure. The little moment you spend in thinking and considering a project can save you from months of regrets.
2102  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2022/2023 on: October 08, 2022, 06:10:58 PM
Erling Haaland in the Premier League so far:
9 matches
21 shots on target
15 goals
The golden boot of the Premier League this season seems almost certain to belong to Erling Haaland.
Haaland is enjoying a superb form under Pep who keeps pushing for the best from his players, I don't know if to say he is in his prime, because he looks as someone who will get better with time. The only thing that will deny Haaland from recognition as the world's best this period If Manchester city can somehow win the champions league is the fact that he is not from a very strong national team (Norway) and they are not playing in the world cup.

Tottenham is holding on to a delicate lead from Harry Kane after their last two poor performances in the EPL and UCL, they will be lucky to get finish this game with all three points and not a draw.
2103  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I helped my dad bought some Bitcoin last night on: October 08, 2022, 01:57:57 PM
So yeah now my dad has some Bitcoin in his Binance account.
This reminds me of a Fix-It joke that I read some time ago, lol Grin about a boy that introduce his parents to cryptocurrency and it was crashing, the parent of the boy on seeing that balance was becoming increasingly lower than what they originally invested, the mother picked up her phone called her son and told him that he has to fix it because the money they invested, had reduced in value. The joke of the comedy was that the boy introduced his parents to cryptocurrency without properly telling them about it and it's versatile nature. In your case OP, I hope you have properly educated your dad, so he doesn't call you to fix the entire crypto situation if he starts seeing his investment looking like it is going all away.
2104  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Too risky to leave BTC right now on: October 07, 2022, 10:05:55 PM
It's way too risky to be out of bitcoin right now
It is also risky and will be regrettable if we don't take advantage of this dip in price of bitcoin right now. It is also risky to want to buy bitcoins now and not have an updated knowledge about how to buy profitably. It will be risky also to get scared and bail out on bitcoins now because it may not look promising for the shortsighted. Likewise it is risky to keep holding bitcoins. Bottom line is choose your risk wisely.
2105  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: They want your money by all means possible on: October 07, 2022, 04:18:10 PM
1. Visible team members don't mean they are scam free.
2. A audited smart contract project can still scam you.
3. Scammers can spend a lot on their website to make it look attractive just to make you invest your money.
4. High volume on the listed exchange doesn't make a project clean from going scam.
I once started a topic where I urged and encouraged forum users not to be fooled by titles. and what they see. Scammers are going the extra mile these days to ensure people believe that they are real since the old ways are becoming outdated and people are more aware and more wiser. You have to be on extra look out and on guard always as you can easily be deceived. As newbies and others not too skilled at detecting scammers and their projects, always learn to ask questions and DYOR, they can save you from making mistakes.
2106  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Europa League 2022/23 Season on: October 07, 2022, 09:09:37 AM
It was Cristiano Ronaldo who failed to score despite doing everything he could. There is no sign of fitness, he seems detached, absentminded, and disinterested. Coaches from Manchester United and Portugal are under pressure to play him, but neither team would benefit from his presence.
I wouldn't say he is not fit or detached, Ronaldo is past his prime and he is passing through a difficult time trying to find a new way to settle into both club and country football with the younger talents who are hitting their prime. We will continue to see Ronaldo starting from the bench for Manchester United because Rashford, Martial & Anthony are Ten Hags Best bet.

On the other hand arsenal had a very impressive game , and though some of the players from our first eleven were substituted and replaced to start, they still played high pressing football and scored more than a goal in the First. Gabriel Jesus's assist was impressive too.
2107  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: SEC Vs. CFTC fight over crypto market regulation, What are your thoughts? on: October 07, 2022, 06:01:22 AM
However they think, SEC and CFTC "could" work together by finding out some legislation in the middle.
I think it is very possible, they do not have to make it messy about who has control, they can both work together without hassles.

Does this gives you feeling that Bitcoin / Crypto market is being dragged into the complicated control by Governments?
The SEC has been functioning mainly to protect Investors from pump and dump schemes and maintain a safe market for investors. As crypto develops further we might see extended functions that they may need to perform for regulatory purposes under the government, and to think of that as possible makes it a bit scary.

2108  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When You Heard About Bitcoin For the First Time? on: October 07, 2022, 05:34:36 AM
I first heard about bitcoin from a friend who introduced me then to a Ponzi scheme then called zarfund that built their crowdfunding format around bitcoins. The price of bitcoins then was relatively low and I must mention that I didn't expect expect bitcoins to go so high because after the Ponzi scheme crashed and I lost my money, I didn't seek to know more about bitcoins maybe because i was depressed about it, until after a while when it started becoming a popular and regular discussion amongst my friends.
2109  Economy / Economics / Re: Are you ready to spend crypto when market is down on: October 06, 2022, 01:54:38 PM
So How will willing are you to spend crypto for your purchases?
I wouldn't jump on it as my first mode of payment, but if it turns out to be the last available option to me, I will. I will do so and not feel too uptight about my decision because just as crypto can function for investment purposes, it also has the function to be used for exchange of goods and services. And as a strong believer in bitcoin and a member of this forum, it is a duty for us to strive to ensure that all the functions of bitcoin are met.
2110  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2022/23 Season on: October 06, 2022, 12:15:23 PM
Manchester city are the first favourite, they are playing on another dimension ever since Erling Haaland was signed, then there is real Madrid who has history, experience and luck in this competition then we have Bayern Munich.
The supporters of Manchester city have high hopes for Haaland hoping that he will be the one to help break pep's champions League curse. I think it is possible as well judging from how well he has settled into the team. Manchester city going against any other team have a high chance to win because they have always been a goal scoring chance creating team and with the addition of  Haaland, who can convert like 8 in 10 chances created, i don't see any team being able to stop them, except their own over confidence.
2111  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Some People think that long term Bitcoin holding is a dumb idea? on: October 06, 2022, 10:56:50 AM
I personally prefer long term holding but of course only the top ranked coin.
Bitcoins remain the best option for long-term holding,  and it is adviced that you hold for as long as possible if you wish to enjoyed for benefits and reward for your patience and holding onto bitcoin over the years. And it would remain that many people do not have the understanding of the importance to hodl, hence they will criticize and speak bad about others who have been holding for long time.

I saw some people saying that long term holders are dumb because they keep holding on the losses and this is a stupid meme.
Also some of people do not have the discipline to hold for long-term so they say all these sort of things to make themselves feel better.
2112  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Just Passing Through and saw this on: October 06, 2022, 09:38:48 AM
I am interested in knowing the kind of shop that is because I can also see other things like ATM,  lottery played here, Amazon hub and cash checking. I'm guessing you were excited because you were surprised to see something that you believe in so close to you with people around you still believing in it. As bitcoin gains more mainstream adoption and recognition this sort of things are what we regularly expect to see.

Please try to visit the shop and give us an update, let us know if they both buy and sell, or just involved in selling to people who want to buy.
2113  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What Happens to Our Bitcoin and Other Assets If We Die? on: October 05, 2022, 08:41:08 PM
Hello guys just don't get me wrong. As we all know that one day we have to die.
This question has been asked many times on this forum, and it usually gets a lot of answers.

Transferring bitcoins and other traditional assets to next of kin can be different. For other assets, it can easily be transferrable via a will that is legally binding unlike transferring your bitcoins which may require a little more technicality and planning so it doesn't

Quote
I think that's the reason still there are millions of BTC that are still missing cause of lost key or dead Bitcoin holders too.
I quite agree.

2114  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Nigeria (Naija) on: October 04, 2022, 11:42:37 PM
NIGERIAN EDUCATION SYSTEM IS A SCAM UNTIL THE OLD STRUCTURE IS DESTROYED AND NEW ONE TAKE PLACE. .
The essence of being called an educated individual or a literate is that you are able to seek out knowledge on your own. if you can do this you are considered an educated individual whose education is not a scam. School can be a scam but education is not a scam, now ask yourself where can you get educated if not in a school?

PS: A school does not have to be a formal environment, but any place where you gain knowledge on something, or how to do something on your own.

CHILDREN ARE LEADERS OF TOMORROW.
THE TOMORROW IS STILL 100,000 YEARS TO COME
You can be an example of a leader within your current situation, you do not have to wait to hold any political position to see yourself as such. If it a political position you are particularly referring to, no one will give you that leadership position simply because you are young and was promised the future.
2115  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread -- 2022/23 | Group Stage on: October 04, 2022, 10:54:54 PM
Frankfurt 20:00 Tottenham Hotspur
Tottenham continue their poor run of form from the arsenal game,  with very few attempts on goal. At this point and with arsenal's current form, i feel we would have been better choice for this UCL than Tottenham. At the level they are playing, the europa would have been better for them.

For Barcelona, lewandoski will be under pressure now especially since he hasn't scored in his last two champions league games. A product of the international break maybe.

US Senator Says 'I Love That Bitcoin Can't Be Stopped'...
Regardless of the general government opinion always made known about how they are against bitcoins, there are some individuals in the government that hold unique opinions and views about bitcoins and cryptocurrency different from the consensus who have refused to adopt the government's opinion simply because they are in the government.

Regardless of your position in office, I always advice that people endeavour to do their own research and find out information about the credibility of something for themselves instead of taking people's word for it.
2117  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: it can affect the price of bitcoin? on: October 04, 2022, 01:04:58 PM
Bitcoin is still seen and used as widely as a speculative asset most people are buying it because they think
it's going to appreciate in the future
You are correct, and for whatever reason someone decides to have bitcoins, it is not a decision that they will regret in the coming future.
Although the original function of the futures is not this;
a lot of people, especially day traders who use tools or use what's happening on futures markets to determine the sentiment of where the price is going to go everyone wants to have a crystal ball of what the future price of anything is going to be
People have found extensive uses in using to determine the price of bitcoin. But in comparison to other methods of predicting the market like Technical analysis, Fundamental analysis and Sentimental analysis, the use of the activities on the future market cannot really compare to me.
2118  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Trustwallet Safe? on: October 03, 2022, 09:34:21 PM
Can people hack my trustwallet?
Is it safe?
Safety can be relative and dependent on personal efforts. Asides the danger of online hackers and cyber criminals there is also the danger of offline criminals who may be disguised as friends and you maybe may become very unsuspecting towards. Trust less and make a conscious effort to protect any device housing any of your wallet from plenty hands. Tell less persons about your involvement in crypto unless on rare occasions and when it is completely important, because mentioning that you are into crypto to some individuals is often misinterpreted to mean that you have so much money.
2119  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you think this is gambling? [Collectibles & Gambling] on: October 03, 2022, 09:15:45 PM
I personally think it would be a bad idea since the chances of pulling out a good card is fairly small...
Very little chances of winning has never stopped or discouraged any serious gambler from gambling. And in this case, I will not really consider it gambling because of this
This guy bought and proceed to (painfully) open each of the packs inside the box, because there are chances to find cards worth thousands of dollars themselves
although it has similarities with gambling but if you consider it, there is no potential estimate of what you can win like gambling that has estimates, but this just has the possibility of you winning without knowing what you will win even if you win.

Some people will call it gambling, but i don't think it is in a proper and actual sense.
2120  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does everyone want bitcoin to be stable in price? on: October 03, 2022, 09:01:08 PM
This makes me ask the question do much of the holders of bitcoin want the price to be stable or do they really want it be volatile?
Speaking speculatively, what I think has attracted majority of users more to bitcoin is its volatility and their ability to make profit from the movements of the market rather than its currency nature. Although not the main intention for the creation of bitcoin many people have capitalised on it for that benefit and will forever prefer that it remains volatile and never achieve stability to carry out its currency function properly.

Though I'm still a part of  people that are hoping to profit from the volatility, I would also like people to also engage the currency function of bitcoin by also cultivating the habits of still trying to use it once in a while for transactionary purpose.
