2101  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcointalk database leaked? on: September 06, 2016, 01:54:02 PM
Even though this hack event was a year old, it came into different hacker related site after someone tried to sell those data in darknet recently.

All passwords are encrypted, to break down in numbers; there are 469,540 passwords that are encrypted with the SHA-256 algorithm and 44,868 passwords encrypted with SMF password encryption.
I have read somewhere SHA-256 encrypted password are hard to decrypt isn't it? However using strong password like combination of words and number with special character is wise decision with ocassional change of password and using different password for different sites.

Well Bitcoin uses SHA256 so it should be pretty safe. Any 10 character password with special characters and upper and lower case is already strong enough to not be able to get brute forced in a lifetime afaik.
2102  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Megaupload + Bitcoins on: September 06, 2016, 01:51:55 PM
From what I have researched, Kim Dotcom intends to create a sort of affiliate program so pay people that use the service. This affiliate program will function with bitcoin micro-transactions... I still dont fully get it.
2103  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: WHAT CAN I DO WITH 0.1 BTC ?? on: September 06, 2016, 01:49:12 PM
What you can do is unfortunately nothing. 0.1 BTC is just too small to do any sort of relevant investment. If you want to gamble, you can buy a coin that is apparently abandoned and wait for a pump. Sometimes you can get crazy gains.
2104  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Online Gambling vs Real Gambling on: September 05, 2016, 04:40:49 PM
Nothing beats the thrill of playing in a real casino. When you are on a good winning streak and people get around you to see how high you can go before you get scared and cash out, it's really fun. Winning a jackpot in a real life casino would be one of the best feelings ever.
2105  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Any thoughts on the Golem ICO? on: September 05, 2016, 04:38:59 PM
I find the idea of a worldwide supercomputer to apply computer power in projects like video rendering, protein folding and whatnot, a really idea, but im not sure about it working under the Ethereum blockchain.

Also wasn't this concept tried before with Gridcoin or this is something else?

Im still trying to decide if this is only nice words (a scam) or a serious project worth investing at.
2106  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Beware of IOTA Main Developers on: September 05, 2016, 04:36:08 PM
@yumei:
One question, just to be sure that I got your point. You bought IOTA for 10 BTC or around 5,7k $ without using an escrow and now complaining about the IOTA devs because the scammer used the same profile picture and (editable) label name of a IOTA dev?

If so, didn't you get familiar with slack platform, did you? It is a very known issue that you have to check the @<username> to identify a user. Not relying on a label name. Further, a simple research would have brought you to know that the seller is a probable scammer and not the person you thought it is.

You made two mistakes:
1) Not using a escrow at all.
2) Not doing background research of the seller.

Slack should make it impossible to use a username that is being used already by another person, and reserve the @username url username for the people that owns the url, this way it would be impossible to try to impersonate other people.

As for the topic goes, I will read later, but I wanted to get involved in IOTA a bit since it looked interesting, so I hope is nothing serious.
2107  Economy / Economics / Re: Can we Manipulate Bitcoin price? on: September 05, 2016, 04:20:28 PM
Only the big whales of 10.000 BTC would be able to have an impact on the price, and even then, it would be minimum.

We saw hundred of thousands of BTC stolen from Bitfinex and we saw a flash crash and we are already recovering. The amount of money you would need is simply too damn high.
2108  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If no one spends bitcoin what might happen? on: September 05, 2016, 04:10:37 PM
Nothing happens, the market would still function because the speculation will never end. There will always be supply and demand of Bitcoins going on, keeping the market alive, even if people dont use to to buy groceries.
2109  Other / Off-topic / Re: What will you do if you own 21 BTC? on: September 05, 2016, 03:58:20 PM
Investing is the best way to go about utilizing 21+ BTC. only to increase riches further.
thats true investing is a really great option to put your money into right now, though i dont know whether it wouldnt make you not lose all your money

But for me that is going to be a big capital already if you are going to invest whole 21 bitcoin with trading I would say that it is going to be better if you are just going to allocate 1/4 of that total amount.

Or else I am just going to keep on holding that for a long time and going to wait for the price of it to increase and once I am able to get profit with it.

Then I am going to sell it and going to start my own business in real life.

If you invest 21 btc in trading then the results will be also higher as even small fluctuation can give you good profits, but its recommended not to put all money in it, keep few coins on safer side for the future.

I would not recommend investing any big amounts until you reach the 21 btc goal that everyone should have. 21 BTC will be rich status in 10 years, so you can't risk losing any. Once you have beyond 21 BTC you can start taking higher risks.
2110  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Big Finance Firms Now Want to Hire Bitcoiners as ‘Specialists’ on: September 05, 2016, 03:34:03 PM
THe irony is that any bitcoiner that is actually a specialist and knows how bitcoin works, knows that trying to integrate blockchain tech in legacy financial systems is a non sequitur and stupid as it gets. It's just pointless and the natural evolution is to run stuff under the bitcoin blockchain and not a private blockchain.
2111  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: In what fight where you gambled at got the most gains? on: September 03, 2016, 02:57:16 PM
This shows you how f-ing old I am:  The only bet I ever placed on a fight was back in about 1991 or so, and it was a Mike Tyson fight.  It was not with a bookie, it was in kind of a betting pool.  I can't even remember who Tyson fought.  It could have been Buster Douglas, but I don't think it was that fight.

I learned very quickly that it's hard to predict who's going to win a fight and have not bet on them since.  Not my thing, and that time I lost. Not much, though.  Ah, the days before internet, before bitcoin, before the death of newspapers.  Fun times.

I wish I was older so I could have seen the Tyson era and bet on all his fights. It must have been easy with Tyson... always bet for a win and you keep making money, kind of like Mayweather nowadays.
2112  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Falcon 9 exploded is there those 24 bitcoin satellites on board? on: September 03, 2016, 02:25:39 PM
They haven't launched any bitcoin nodes at space now. As far as I know there was a plan to launch nodes in space, or something like that. I mean what else are you going to launch at space that has to do with Bitcoin that isn't a node?
2113  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Doubling Bitcoin? on: September 03, 2016, 12:42:01 PM
Yesterday was a good day to double your Bitcoins. XMR was looking bullish. Unfortunately, I was too much a pussy and set my buy order too low. I set it at 165.. I should have bought at market price. It was looking like a nice triangle breakout and I didn't trust my gut enough.
2114  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin without Altcoin ? on: September 03, 2016, 12:22:28 PM
There will always be altcoins, unless sidechains are so powerful that they can do every single thing that every single other altcoin can do... then we may see alts become more irrelevant, but i dont see a scenario where alts disappear 100%.
2115  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Transaction stuck for an hour in "unconfirmed" status on: September 03, 2016, 12:16:39 PM
I sent a transaction an hour ago through Bitcoin Core using the default fee, and it's still unconfirmed. Is something going on with the network? I have never had problems with Bitcoin Core when sending a transaction using the recommended fee, but this time its taking too long. It's already past 1 hour actually.
2116  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Megaupload + Bitcoins on: September 03, 2016, 12:14:51 PM
I still don't see it clear, and I will not invest in ni this Kim Dotcom thing because he may be trying to scam people after all. He already got called out by McAfee.. not that you can trust McAfee anyway. Both are scammish people in my book.
2117  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you still have time to reach the 21 BTC goal? on: September 03, 2016, 11:58:50 AM
I think yes I have a chance of making 21 btc. I know 21 btc is a lot. I know bitcoin last 1 year. And in 1 year I learn many thing about bitcoin.Already I am earning a decent amount using bitcoin. I am earning by signature campaign, Twitter campaign, simple task and also trading. I think if all goes nicely I will make 21 btc for sure.
just by signature and twitter campaign and so one you will have a very hard time to make it to 21 bitcoin. and keep in mind that most of us expect the bitcoin price to rise in the future, which makes it even harder to reach that goal.

Yeah its very hard to achieve 21 btc only from signature campaign as it will take really long time and may be he will never make it there, its better to invest earnings from signature campaign in trading to reach there quickly.

You will certainly not make it from signature campaigns anymore since they pay too low, but with trading you may lose your hard work done by posting on the signature campaigns, and that sucks. You never know whats going to happen with altcoins because its so damn random.
2118  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do Girls also gamble? on: September 02, 2016, 02:19:58 PM
Thre are more and more girls that are getting really skilled in the poker events. I don't know who is behind the computer online when gambling or playing poker so you have to consider the statistics in online events only otherwise its impossible to tell what's going on, it could be a girl or a 50 year old guy.
2119  Economy / Economics / Do you have to get your bitcoins taxed if you sell like 220 dollars monthly? on: September 02, 2016, 01:53:25 PM
So let's say you sell 220 dollars monthly to help your family with paying bills, food and basic expenses. I am making around that monthly and I need to help at home. I have no job right now and I can't find one since my studies and I can only aim at really low paying jobs which suck so I would rather keep making money online with trading and websites. I don't make much but enough to not have to work to buy myself some stuff.

Anyway, if I sell 220 dollars worth of bitcoin every month, does this need to get taxed or the amount is so small that I don't need to report it?
2120  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Trojan hijack my clipboard and change my bitcoin address on: September 02, 2016, 01:49:50 PM
You need to backup your wallet and format your hard disk immediately. Also change password for every single login and including password for deciphering the bitcoin wallet itself. Your computer is compromised now and there is no 100% safe way to get it clean other than formating, must delete everything quick, we don't know if you may have a keylogger too.
