2101  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2022/23 Season on: August 11, 2022, 09:21:22 AM
It was relatively easy day at the office for Real Madrid with them pretty much dominating Frankfurt throughout the game. Frankfurt are an attacking team but Casemiro was immense for Real to thwart of any attacks from Frankfurt. Frankfurt did get a series of attacks going on closer to the end of the the game but it felt that it was too late already while being down 2-0 at 65 mins in.  Congrats to Real.
Even in this case if we look at Frankfurt's game it seems like they can't develop their game in midfield because the trio of Casimero, Modric and Kross are really very difficult to deal with.
So indeed the supply to the Frankfurt attack did not go well and only relied on their quick counter-attack.
In the end Real Madrid deserved to win in this match.
I am not surprised by this result, before the match starts it is already predictable who will come out as champion. Real Madrid have a more perfect team quality than Frankfurt, the midfield guarded by Casimero, Modric and Kross really troubles Frankfurt players. Two goals from Alaba and Benzema were enough to send Real Madrid to the Champions podium, once again Benzema became the hero of Real Madrid victory. I think Barcelona supporters should thank Real Madrid for having managed to avenge them because some time ago Frankfurt humiliated their beloved team in the Europa League final.  Cheesy

Are you sure with what you have just said in bold? There is no significant change in their midfield and forward till now. Looking at the fact of the result last season, their midfield and forward were bad. Even in their 1st match this season is also really bad. They have changed coaches for several times, means they have changed strategy for several times as well while no significant changes on that positions but what was the result? Most were the same, and I think the only way to make them better is to make at least 50% change of their current squad.
I agree that Manchester United's midfield and attack are filled with talented players. But I don't agree that they have a very strong midfield and attack. Maybe that's what it meant.
We can't judge from the players who fill and play there, but we have to how effective they are in the game. So far I haven't seen anything to look forward to there.
It's true, Man United has been filled with some talented players, but the role of Manchester United players has not been able to show their best quality. Man United has been swayed for a long time, since Ferguson left the coach, there has not been a single coach who has been able to develop the talent of the players that Man United has. Most tragically, Man United had to lose (leave for free) one of its most expensive players, even though Pogba can still show his best performance if handled by a coach who is able to see the talent that Pogba has.

Now that Ten Hag must be able to show his quality as a coach who is able to build trust between players, his experience at Ajax Amsterdam must be applied to Man United. The revival of Manchester United has been long awaited, the transfer of a few more players needs to be done, Ten Hag must do it immediately before the market closes.

A year ago I did not know this player, during the previous season I learned to appreciate him.
Humanly he also seems to be a quiet and decent person.
But do you know how much it is worth? Out of pure curiosity. I mean if someone wants to buy it, when should he shell out now?
In any case it will be a very high price, I assume.

@babo you really didn’t knew him because Benzema has been at the club when Ronaldo was there, and he’s been their main striker for quite a while now. Lastly I believe that his valuation will be the same as Lewandowski, but I doubt that Real Madrid will sell him this season or even in the next season because he’s single handedly winning matches for them.
Before Ronaldo came to Real Madrid, Benzema was already in the Real Madrid squad. Benzema loyalty to Real Madrid is undeniable, he always makes a good contribution to the team and Real Madrid is lucky to have a striker like Benzema. If someone says that he doesn't know Benzema, maybe he never followed Real Madrid or even watched El Clasico, so it depends on the league that you watch.
This year has been a perfect year for Real Madrid, now Benzema next target is to win the Club World Cup with Real Madrid.
2104  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2022/2023 on: August 11, 2022, 08:34:16 AM
Arsenal have had Arteta as their manager for three years. I also don't think that he is the best manager for this team but they still somehow manage to do a nice job recently. They are just bad at making the finale good in a season. They missed the Champions League by a small gap last season for example. However the scenario might be different this season. They have strengthened the lineup quite much and they seem more ambitious now. Hopefully Arteta can make this team qualify for the Champions League this time.

Arteta is one of my favorite trainers. I think he has a lot of good things to do for Arsenal, the Premier League is the hardest league in the world but Arsenal can still perform quite well. The team hasn't been in a very good shape in the past years, but it is getting better every day and can move up in the league.
Their performance this year can also be better and they can finish the league in the top 3 teams Smiley
After making a big purchase, Arsenal performance will only improve this year, Arteta has the opportunity to surprise this season. Arsenal are getting tired of being under the shadow of Manchester city, Chelsea and Liverpool, Arsenal quality this season can enliven the competition at the top. I'm not an Arsenal supporter, but I'm very happy to see Arsenal transformation, because it will make the competition in the top flight more and more.
2105  Other / Meta / Re: Merit source observations on: August 10, 2022, 01:51:12 PM
And, merit hoarding for regular members is surely less of an issue than for merit sources, and I am pretty sure that in the first round of merit source member assignments, some of those members who were assigned as merit sources, were really stingy regarding their sending out merits, and some of them even publicly stated such.
Merit Sources shouldn't need to do merit hoarding, because when they make a Vision and Mission when applying to become a Merit Source, they often attach a history of their achievement statistics. Speaking of the first batch of Merit Source assignments, there are still many things that need to be addressed, maybe they are stingy because they have difficulty finding worthy users in their post history reviews to be appreciated or have other activities outside the forum that cannot be abandoned, in the end, many monthly sMerit allocations are piled up.

Quote
Theymos would not even need to have had to see their posts in which they made such anti-smerit sending philosophies to be able to see whether or not they were using their smerit monthly allocations... so it did take theymos a year or maybe even two years before he really did end up reducing the smerit allocations of those merit sources and/or removing them from being merit sources...
To reduce cases of merit hoarding on Merit Sources, Theymos should choose Merit Sources that really have high Loyalty on the forum. So far, I have found several Merit Sources (no need to mention their names here) that do their job well, some of them need to be rotated with other users or provide opportunities for non-merit source members.

Quote
So I do believe that it would be a BIGGER problem if merit source members were merit hoarders as compared with non-merit source members.. and the context of my above quote was attempting to focus on the dynamic of regular members acting like smerit hoarders rather than merit source members.
Obviously there will be BIG PROBLEMS if the Merit Source chosen by the Administrator is more stingy than the non-merit source members.
In the context of your quote above, I really understand the intent and purpose, those who hoard services are only a small number of stingy users who cannot appreciate contributions from other users.

Quote
Otherwise I agree with your overall assessment Razmirraz that it appears that current merit source members are way more inclined to liberally send smerits as compared to either the first batch of merit source members and perhaps even the second batch.. so it may well have taken a bit more than a couple of years to get each of the incremental improvements in achieving more liberal sending of smerits from merit source members.
As I explained above, there are still many shortcomings in the FIRST PRODUCT. So far what I have seen in the field, Merit Source is already on track, both globally and on the Local Board.

Quote
I surely don't feel like I have enough information to know whether some improvement could be made in terms of either rotating merit source members a bit more or if there might be some improvements if theymos might increase the number of merit source members.. because there does seem to be a bit of work in making those kinds of assessments, and surely sometimes there are likely some issues with how some of the merit source members (and not even excluding myself from the potential problem areas) are sending smerits and/or unfairly benefiting from their being assigned as a merit source member... .but likely theymos does also recognize that even if some of us might be sloppy and neglectful and maybe even deliberately bad from time to time in how we are either sending smerits or refraining from sending smerits, he likely also recognizes and appreciates that there is quite a bit of work that may well go into merit source members figuring out their own approach to the matter and then actually employing it on a daily/weekly and even monthly basis (as Philip mentioned the very issue that he has had with building up of smerits and some dilemmas regarding how to spend them in a way that is comfortable for the merit source member as well as other real life issues that s/he may well have happening)..
We never know if haven't tried it, the opportunity needs to be given to non-merit source users who are very active in distributing sMerit to other forum members. I also found some Merit Source Applications that have not been accepted, I thought Theymos should give it a try as some local councils also need Merit Source.

Changes need to be made on a rotating basis to reduce potential problems, Theymos should be more active in overseeing stingy Merit Sources and immediately rotate with new Source. I think if done like this, Merit Source will be even more active in distributing monthly sMerit allocations to deserving users (please correct if I'm wrong).

I agree, Juventus also could be very good, but that doesn't change that Sassuolo is also quite good. They made some great transfers to pick them to a higher level. They were never seen as the team who is "just outside of the top title fighters" level for many years now, but looking at the past few years, and looking at how they are making transfers now, it is clear that they want to be there. Milan, Inter, Juventus these are teams that are always fighting for a title, but teams like napoli, lazio etc are teams we all know as just behind the top ones, Sassuolo wants to be there and they do have the talent to be there as well.
Sassuolo gave a positive signal to other teams with the moves made in the transfer market, slowly but surely Sassuolo will be able to compete with other elite teams. Sassuolo couldn't bounce back so quickly, there are still a few areas to improve, but they've done it gradually.
Clubs trying to break into the ranks of the elite will take several years to compete at the top. Newcastle, which has just turned into a rich club in the Premier League, also needs time to build up its squad strength, it is impossible for Sassuolo to rise to the top of the rankings in a very short time.
2107  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: August 10, 2022, 05:37:31 AM
After failed to get Antony from Ajax then Manchester United will looking for new forward player and recently they linked to Watford player Ismaila Sarr and seems they had good chance to get Sarr because after relegated to championship league Watford has decided to sell some of their players and Ismaila Sarr confirmed into their sell lists but price tag for him was quite expensive 40 millions pounds
After getting bad results in the first game of the season, Manchester United began to panic about the quality of their squad. Manchester United's panic still continues when targeting the players they want to bring in, Ismaila Sarr has not been able to compete for the main place, he has also not been tested in many competitions. Manchester United must learn from the Pogba case, panic buying will have the potential to lose. The 40 million pounds Watford is asking for is too expensive for a player like Ismaila Sarr, Manchester United must be able to manage their money well.
2108  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2022/23 on: August 10, 2022, 05:22:54 AM
Atletico Madrid has the potential to maintain its position as last season to target third position. Because 1 and 2 are still ideal positions for Real Madrid and Barcelona. If you look at Atletico Madrid's ambitions last season, they didn't just stumble, but they were too confident and didn't realize that players who couldn't control their emotions only had a bad impact on the team's performance.
Why always real and barcelona? Any team that capable enough to be consistent during the season will become a winner. It's not always real madrid and barcelona. The club like atletico, villareal were also having competence to be a winner in la liga as well.
I think that you're over confident if la liga will always be winning by barcelona or real madrid. La liga was not about these two teams.
Obviously, La Liga is not about Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid. There are 20 teams participating in La Liga, but why only Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid always dominate?
Teams like Sevilla, Villarreal and Real Sociedad can only provide competition but they cannot break domination.
You can see the list of La Liga Champions in the last 10 years, the three teams above always take turns being Champions. Then where are the other teams, aren't they competing in the same league?
2109  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2022/2023 on: August 10, 2022, 05:01:50 AM
when viewed from statistics The game, instead Crystal Palace, is charged the ball more perfect than Arsenal, but the game can be won by The Gunners
If you have been following up the match right from the beginning of it, Arsenal played really good and scored before the first half was over. The second half was a bit different as Crystal Palace played better and have opportunities to score, but they were not able to score. Probably the pressure on Marc Guehi led to the mistake he made and Arsenal was able to win with 2 goals. Crystal Palace played good too, but no luck on their side.
Arsenal built the club's power to compete in the league, as proven by some of the purchases of new players they have made this season. Althouls long before, Arsenal Only Bought Ordinary Players, then Polished and Resold at High Prices, it seems that Vision has gone, because since the thierry henry era ended arsenal was qite in discip Played Pretty Good
This time Arsenal broke its tradition as a team that produces young players and then sells them for high prices when their name is already shining. spending big money became a new breakthrough for Arsenal because previously the Gunners were very economical in spending their money.
It's a big step for Arsenal because they haven't lifted the Premier League Trophy for a very long time. Now the squad that Arteta has built is a level higher than Manchester united, Arteta will try to reach the level of Manchester city, Liverpool and Chelsea to be included in the candidates for Premier League champions

But apparently, I got it wrong.
Maybe he's on holiday, and maybe this is a fun activity and not a chore!

Patiently waiting for the next merit spree.

I wonder if Juventus will manage to solve their problem in the midfield before the new season becomes underway. Because Pogba is out for a very long time as it seems. They have been targeting Milinkovic-Savic actually but there is no update about that now. Juventus' biggest weakness has been their midfield as you know. If they go on with the current condition in this season then I wonder how they are thinking of dealing with this.
The depth of the squad owned by Juventus is far from perfect, there is still a lot that needs to be fixed before the transfer window closes. Some bad results in pre-season matches have strengthened bad speculation about Juventus, no one knows what Juventus Management's plans are next. Will they bring in other players to strengthen the midfield and back line when the transfer market is still open or do they rely on the squad they currently have while waiting for Pogba to recover from his injury.
2112  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2022/2023 on: August 09, 2022, 06:16:08 AM
Man utd team is struggling, and the whole team is and it's not just the fault of maguire, even the only goal they score was a player scoring against his own goal, and I don't think maguire have that big of an impact on their offensive line as well, Man utd did nothing in the transfer market to make their team better, and the results are showing already.
These results also cannot be used as a basic benchmark for Manchester United next season, although it is true that Manchester United are not bringing in more new players through the current transfer market. But I'm sure that Manchester United will make changes for the better before next season because Manchester United can take a reference in some of the games they have played at this point.
The poor results obtained by Manchester United in the first game of the season left new jobs for officials and coaches, Ten Hag still had time before the transfer closed to look for new players to strengthen the team. Manchester United is still not able to compete with other strong teams this season, the strength of the squad owned by Ten Hag is still below the team that always dominates the top four. Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and several other teams are very active in the transfer market. If Manchester United does not immediately follow in the footsteps of other big teams, Ten Hag will have to be content to see his team thrown outside the European Zone.

I wish him the best at leipzig and we need a deadly striker right now!
I believe Werner will be shining again with Leipzig. A player can optimize his ability once he feels happy in a club, it can motivate him to do harder work. Let's see Warner plays better in Leipzig.
Werner will return to Germany to undergo a medical and sign a contract to rejoin RB Leipzig, Werner return to RB Leipzig is a potential destination, Leipzig agreed to take Werner back on a permanent basis after two years of his move to Chelsea. Warner is considered to have failed to make a good contribution to Chelsea after a disappointing performance by scoring 23 goals and 21 assists in 89 appearances in all competitions.
Werner has agreed to a substantial pay cut in order to get playing time for another team, he must develop his potential by guaranteeing regular appearances with a new club in preparation for the World Cup later this year.
2114  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2022/23 on: August 09, 2022, 05:46:26 AM
I think that this season is going to be a season that Atletico Madrid are struggling to keep up while Barcelona and Real Madrid are competing hard for the La Liga title. Because I see nearly zero change about Atletico Madrid now. It is more difficult for them unless they add really qualified players to the team. I don't think Simeone would change his tactics much either.
Atletico Madrid can still enliven the competition for the La Liga title even though Atletico Madrid did not add really quality players and Simeone did not change tactics.
But I still believe that Simeone will provide the best tactics for Atletico Madrid next season in order to compete with the two big teams (Barcelona and Real Madrid) for the title in La Liga.
The quality of Atletico Madrid will not decrease even though they are not very active in the transfer market, Simeone really believes in the ability of the squad he has. Atletico Madrid is still able to provide competition to Real Madrid, Barcelona and Sevilla at the top. While in the hands of Simeone, Atletico Madrid have always been a team that is able to provide competition in the top four standings and some of them have won the La Liga trophy while breaking the dominance of Real Madrid and Barcelona as the rulers of La Liga.
2115  Other / Meta / Re: Merit source observations on: August 09, 2022, 04:06:53 AM
Snip.
No, I don't think there is a specific consensus on how we rate them, which means you have the right to spend sMerit/ no spend and that's up to you. Some people are known to not care about the merit system and some may not be interested, and again that's up to them.

Pmalek had discussed this matter before, he made a topic and revealed some reasons.

Top 200 Active Members who have earned most Merits but have sent 0 sMerits

I can think of a couple of reasons:
1. They dont care about receiving/sending Merits at all and dont want to be part of it.
2. They dont understand how the Merit system works, thinking every time they send a merit, their count will decrease by one.
3. They cant find/dont think there is anything worth meriting.
4. They are afraid of sending Merits since there are many abuses and dont want to get on someone's radar.

But I can think of another reason that might be the 5th reason and that. Forum contributors who left the forum before the merit system was introduced such as satoshi will no longer be active just to spend their sMerit.
What Pmalek discusses in this topic is only a small number of the top active users who have earned the most Merit but have sent 0 sMerits to other users, some of whom have left the forum. Without them there are still many other users with a high concern for spending sMerit where it deserves.
Those who leave the forum with the number of sMerits they have will not reduce the number of sMerit, the circulation of merits continues even without them.
2116  Other / Meta / Re: Merit source observations on: August 08, 2022, 06:44:07 PM
I don't disagree with you, but in the whole scheme of things, there are not very many merit hoarders.. so in that sense, it probably does not matter that much if you send merits to ONLY the hoarders because there are plenty of folks who still give out smerits.
True, so far I have found that there are so many merit sources or merit contributors who have the LOYALTY to issue sMerit to users who deserve it. Merit hoarders are only done by people who are stingy or can't appreciate the education of other users, but this case is very rare.

Merit sources that are chosen are really the right people and contribute a lot to the forum, they will always check the posts that are worth throwing sMerit. So I'm not too worried about sMerit hoarding users, because the forum still has contributors who can appreciate constructive, informative, and quality posts.
2117  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: August 08, 2022, 10:39:36 AM
One draw and two defeats were obtained by Juventus during a friendly match with three top La Liga teams at once. Very disappointing especially to see their last game against Atletico Madrid. I see their quality is still lower than other teams let alone La Liga. What hurts more is the 3 goals from the player they let go (Morata).
Despite having brought in several players in the transfer market to increase the team strength, Juventus still looks less able to compete in the top flight of Serie A after getting some disappointing results in the pre-season matches he played. Juventus quality is still below normal when compared to other big clubs, Allegri must find the right medicine to cure Juventus. This season the Serie A competition is more competitive than last season, the rise of Roma needs to be watched out for, if Juventus is not able to maintain its quality in official matches, Allegri must be ready to be thrown from the top four positions.
2118  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2022/23 Season on: August 08, 2022, 10:25:04 AM
It's very hard to talk about Paris Saint-Germain's title chances right now as we are not even in group stage yet. Everything can be changed but the most important thing is the draw. If they get a lucky draw they can reach finals but if they draw like Real Madrid last season then I don't see much chance for them.
You know Real Madrid passed Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea, Manchester City and Liverpool and reached the trophy. Paris Saint-Germain couldn't survive in a draw like this. Besides Spanish and English teams dominate the competition, Paris Saint-Germain have light opponents in their local league and they don't get ready for bigger matches. I don't know if it's psychological, motivational problem but if they don't get ready mentally then they have no chance in this tournament.
PSG has a great chance to qualify from the group stage, but there is no guarantee of being able to reach the final round. PSG has just made a transition with their new coach, even though they just got a big win in the first League 1 game, it doesn't mean PSG can spread their wings easily in the UCL. Now that Christophe Galtier has a tough task, he must be able to shape PSG into a team that has a winning mentality in Europe. In terms of player quality, PSG is very ready to compete in the UCL, but from a winning mentality, PSG must learn a lot from Real Madrid.
2119  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2022/23 on: August 08, 2022, 10:13:08 AM
As expected, Barcelona's performance was outstanding. El Clasico style of play comes to life. In the early days of Lewandowski's goal for the first in Barcelona, it became proof that Barcelona's threat this season was real. If we look at the first half, the flow of the game was well controlled, pass by pass was so beautiful. From toe to toe looks in harmony with what Xavi wants in implementing an attack strategy.
Xavi was able to unite new signings with Barcelona's style of play so quickly, some of the new names in the Barcelona squad were able to adapt well. The real threat was clearly seen from what Barcelona showed, the game was very solid, the players were able to maintain their role well. The big victory over Pumas Unam proves that Barcelona has risen, if you look at the depth of Xavi's squad, Barcelona is ready to compete with other big teams to achieve its goals.

looks like Chelsea isn't the only one wanting Vardy. United also seems to be monitoring the player. Even though the age is no longer young, I think it is very important for both clubs.
Vardy still has 1 year left on his contract with Leicester, if next season he doesn't want to extend his contract I think it would be better to let him go this season.

Is it still worth enough to get Vardy while he is 35 years old already? I do think that it is better if Chelsea or United try to find younger talented striker if they really need it. Of course it is fine  if any club can get him for free at the end of the contract. Try to get him by buying before his contract ends is not really worth imho.
Actually, Manchester United already has Anthony Martial and Ronaldo, while Chelsea, who have released Lukaku to Inter Milan on loan, only leaves Kai Havertz who often plays as a false nine. Now Vardy is 35 years old and has only one season left on his contract with Leicester City. Vardy will be a panic buy for Manchester United and Chelsea because of his old age because it is very difficult for a player who is 35 years old to be able to maintain his performance especially in big games.
The summer transfer window is still open until September 1, both clubs can still look for talented young players rather than having to bring in players whose productive age is almost finished.
