I am going to try this again.
Last one was derailed.
Very simple rules I am giving away 24 merits. None to heroes none to legendary. I self modded thread as the last one was hijacked by one person and a second person attempted to fight a battle against him.
So here goes impress me with your older posts just ask for a point I will go back and read your posts. If I like them I will give you a merit point.
Once I give away 24 points I will close thread.
hi please check https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2989327incomplete but I will look at it later

A tip for those intimidated by Ubuntu, and are comfortable with windows.
Windows 7 and Windows 10 ask that you enter a license key, and nag you for a license key, but in no way have reduced effectiveness if you do not enter one. Windows 7 is easier to manage drivers with, and updates are very controllable. The only drawback other than the nagging for a license, is difficulty replacing the background. For mining, it works just fine.
If you want to stop Windows 10 doing updates, go to services and disable the windows update service.
deleted because it tells people to do wrong by windows. I can tell people they should do that or that they can do it. But I have had more then one good windows go bad and left it as you described since it only means. That is windows doing bad by me. They owe me a good copy since I paid newegg for a good one and entered the good number which went bad later. My statement would not hold me libel for any wrong doing. As some how my number must have been hacked. Btw people are drifting off topic. But I will read some of your other posts. I gave you merit for this https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1670733.msg29902308#msg29902308note your deletion is quoted

My mining room currently has 30 gpu's running. Room is 1680 cubic feet. I have two windows and have purchased two of these ... https://www.build.com/air-king-9166/s380951?uid=441363One to pull air in and one to push air out. On the low setting it does 2510 CFM. If you do the math it comes out to be about 89 air changes per hour on the low setting. 2510x60=150600/1680=89.64 Currently it is about 22C outdoor temp. Ambient temp of the mining room is around 38C. This is with both windows open. Mining room door shut. I have a cheap box fan in one window pulling hot air out. No fan in the other window right now. All five 6-gpu rigs have a cheap 20" box fan behind them and my gpu temps currently range between 59C and 70C. Summer time outdoor temps sometimes reach 37C on the hottest days of the summer. Average is probably between 26-32C. Are my ventilation plans going to be sufficient? How does humidity play into it? Sometimes we have some pretty humid days during the summer here. The other thing I've thought about is portable air conditioning, but everything I've read says that it's way more important to propertly ventilate than it is to cool the air. your issue is air flow. those fans should both be exhaust and in intake just an open window. opening only >>>>>>>>>> gear >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> 2 fans this means one thing can you fit 2 fans into the exhaust window? and just leave the other window wide open? you do realize the windows should not be on the same wall? this is good this is bad

. . .
ive only been in the game since early 2017. started mining about 3 months ago, wish id jumped in the pool sooner. once i started hashing away, i REALLY started to fall down the blockchain rabbit hole lol. i bought my first bag of btc a 3k, ltc sub 50 (man, that was such a good buy!), and eth sub 150s. never threw in any more fiat after that. i started trading with gains, but had i just hodled, my overall %age growth wouldve been far greater. i picked up some really dumb bags like funfair, vertcoin, monacoin, tenx, civic, einsteinium, potcoin, numeraire, and a few more. im still holding those bags hoping they get to the bubble like valuations they got pre 20k btc correction.
had a question for you. do you think atomic swaps will drive up the value of coins like vert and mona? i could do a search, but just been busy.
atomic swaps will be huge - see DCR-LTC atomic swap demo - it will be good plus for any coin that has that feature. Rule #1 .... always HODL -- more than 3 months for long term coins. Rule #2......You lose money only when you sell -- stay invested Rule #3.... There is no such thing as a bad profit - don't be greedy biggest rule to understand right here Rule #4..... Never trade when drunk, after an argument with spouse, death of family hamster... Rule #5..... a good portfolio have no more than 4-5 coins - easy to manage -- KISS Rule #6 .... always take some small profit when coin goes all-time-high --- everybody buys, you sell Rule #7..... Don't sell the family Volvo to fund your crypto trades... invest in what you can afford Rule #8..... Always have a emergency USDT or BTC stashed somewhere for good buys during dips Rule #9.... Day trading is hard and for the experienced, 99% traders lose money. Think Investing not Trading. Rule #10.... Ignore bitcoin and crypto currencies news from main stream media (CNBC, ABC, CBS, CNN etc) understand profit and its value. understand gear = coin coin = gear. I am selling gear now a lot. I kept some in coin. and a lot in cash. why is this? By selling a 1070 at 500 say a 50 dollar markup and cheaper then anyone. I make very little profit maybe 20 bucks and the mining it did say 100 so I turned 450 usd into 570 usd but I purchased when coins were 19000 and sold when coins were 11000 so I did magical profit the best possible fiat profit and btc profit 450/19000 = 0.023684 btc 570/11000 = 0.051818 btc so yeah $450 to $570 fiat is 26.67% profit in fiat and 0.023684 btc to 0.051818 btc is 118.78 % profit in coins understanding this chance to sell gear at the right time is very very very very very important. the beauty of this is I am helping out miners as I am selling at cheaper prices then anyone. I saw this unfolding in JAN and continuing into FEB. and it all follows on the profit taking rule number 3. many do not understand it. I got very lucky here with the gpu shortage and i was not greedy on the fiat end at all. Thus others can turn some Profit. .

Don’t know
What is the hash rate of the mining rigs that are needing a higher diff? Just asking since the pools has 800 Th running today Seems like I saw 2 Ph last month also this has nothing to do with hash rates it has to do with nicehash insisting on mmpool using a starting diff of 1,096,000 the only way this works is mop.org need to have two ports :3333 :3334 diff of 1,100,000 I won't rent from anyone but nicehash. I can no longer rent and point here. bravo-mining setup a port with a lower diff 3333 and a port with a higher diff :3334 So I rent there once in a while. Would like to point here at end of week if possible. I get that a diff set to 1,096,000 is too high for most miners it is not for a nice hash rental. so the fix is port 3333 low diff or variable diff port 3334 high diff I used to not mind nice hash bumping a rental and charging a 0.0001 fee but that is now $1.11 So I don't rent for this pool any more at all. I would do one if a new port with a high diff is set till then oh well. I have over 7000 usd coming to me if anyone hits a block 3 71602a00 0.50541872 0.00000000 36,161,891,903 0 7 c932f3ed 0.22751469 0.00000000 14,713,948,350 0 that is more the .73 btc maybe the lead hasher hits now with his 800th rental

Hi All, I ordered two Antminer S9s and hope to scale to 50-75 (or more if BTC goes moon) by the end of the year. I'm debating whether or not I should build out my own self-hosting site in my garage (it's a large, detached from my house by 100 ft 3 car garage) OR send the miners to a colocation site that can host the miners for $100-$150/month/miner. I have no networking background and a full-time job in venture capital. So I'm leaning towards this option, especially if they can monitor them and provide uptime support. What's a good price offer for a miner colocation? However, my profit calculations project my own mining operation could be very profitable, so I'd be willing to give up my job if it turns into something worthwhile. And, at the moment, I have access to free electricity in my garage (my family pays for it - we own a real estate company. Otherwise local kwh is 5.7 cents). But even with free electricity, this option is by far the largest investment upfront since I'll need to install an HVAC (up to 10-20k CFM fans and exhausts), lots of power, networking equipment, better internet access, etc. I also live in the Midwest and so the summer gets very humid - so that's not great for the equipment I've heard. Plus there is the noise issue of having 50-75 miners in my garage and the neighbors not being too happy about that. All that said, I think I could get around 50 to 75 units in my garage. At that point, I'd 100% need to quit my job to maintain it. Any advice or guidance? My main concerns for self-hosting are: 1) humidity 2) noise 3) lack of experience. Main concerns for colocation: 1) cost and future cost increases 2) if they don't provide support, not having access to the miners immediately if something goes down. **ALSO** I'd also be interested to know what miners who have S9s are making in BTC per month. There seems to be a lot of people who like to have an opinion on this by using an online calculator to determine profits but the calculator vs what people are saying they're making isn't aligning. For instance, I've been seeing people say they make $25-$30 a day per device. That's about $750/month. Subtract out about $100 of electric costs and you're at $650. The online calculators are showing around $350 to $400 / month. Very confused. THANK YOU!!!! Hvac = $$$ online calculators need correct info to be correct. A suggestion try the 2 units in the large garage use a gable fan to pull hot air out.

Here's one I just contributed to this morning: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2985340.0What a great idea to distribute merit. I tried to give one out the other day, which I thought I'd be able to because I got one, but I guess it doesn't work that way, so it's great that someone with the ability is actually doing something to help people with newer accounts. Thank you! gave you a merit

this is sha-256 BTC not alt coin
I will ask mods to move this.
To answer you
the cards are too hot 82c is not good for 24/7/365
lower the tdp to 90%
fans should be at 75-80%
and I do not know if that is a worthwhile algo to do

I'm now currently working on cleaning up the drivers for these devices. The code is the usual disaster area I've come to expect from in-house drivers but hopefully by the time you see the code it won't be so bad. Again, I'm only working remotely on them but they're quite different to anything I've worked with before.
So much for the accusations this is just stolen and refurbished Innosilicon technology, FUD from the Bitmain camp. I'm cheering for these buggers and hope they don't fuck up the production like so many before them did. We may finally have miner which will be real competition to Bitmain. This is exactly how I feel about this. It is real and lets hope they do better servicing of the gear. Then other asic gear. In theory yoshi will send me an early one say march 1 to march 15 then send my other 4 MarcH 25 - APR 5

You have many posts with good info I gave a point to you This giveaway is designed for alt coin mining not trading. I will do a trading giveaway after I give away 25 point here. Your posts appear to be thoughtful So when I start that thread please try agian. Hey Philip, I am going to shamelessly post to your thread here as I am working on leveling up my account Here is a post I made a couple weeks ago about some lessons learned building my first mining rig. I know it isn't useful to the pro's, but hopefully it helps some of the newer members. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2882887.msg29761064#msg29761064you got a point Thanks Bro Phil, this is a good way to encourage also people not to hoard their merits btw, If its not too burden can you take a glance on my posts Edit: I really like this infographic, simple 10 https://imgur.com/1NKR2hAI am going to have to resize it but I will give a point for it.

-First- Fact: PCIe 16x on Motherboard will supply max 75 Watts, PCIe 1x on Mobo will supply max 55 Watts. Molex connector will supply max 75 Watts to riser and SATA connector will supply max 55 Watts.
So, if we are using Molex connector, will be same as put it directly to 16x PCIe on the Mobo. But am not really sure if the USB cable that connects a PCIe to Mobo using PCIe 1x in front and USB at the end, would supply 25 Watts or not. If yes, 50-55 Watts from SATA + 25 Watts from PCIe 1x to USB would be enough to supplying power to the riser.
-2nd- That's also the method I always use, safer. The setup process will load faster when we put our cards one by one.
Thanks for the info Jill! Swapping to the Molex connectors definitely solved our issues. At full power of 117% on the 1080ti, it was pulling 311 watts, and now at 100% it only pulls 277 watts. The 1080 FE cards were pulling 195 watts at 120%, and now at 100% are pulling 178 watts. Also, we had the core clock on the 1080ti at around +99mhz but had issues and had to drop it down to around +60mhz for stability. It still sees over 2000mhz at some points. Our 1080 FE cards were at +250mhz, but were causing ccminer to crash after a while on certain algorithms, so we chose to back them down to +212mhz and haven't had any issues at all since. The 1080's see as high as 2050mhz sometimes. EDIT: We later backed the cards all down to 90% to help with the heat in my office. They still hash at close to the same hash rate as before. I have found 117% 100% settings to be not very practical . 90% is better then the 2 above. I prefer 70-80% myself

Hi philip, awesome thing you are doing here. Thank you. I have a post i'd like to submit. Its an attempt of mine to keep the mining rig picture thread alive since its always been a great inspiration for me and hopefully, other altcoin miners out there too. I believe you have quite a few pictures on that thread too. Here's a link to my post: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1694255.msg24869708#msg24869708If you were not selling it I would have given you a point as showing 8 different cards working is good info. I will read more of you posts as that one was interesting. You had many good posts with helpful info I gave you a point. I have 23 to give. Tired will read deeper into other requestors post. To all those that fucking hate merit system please don't shit on this thread. I will simply quote it and delete it. To others please don't fight or argue with those that are angry about the merit system. It is an attempt to slow or curb spam for sig campaigns and an attempt to slow promotion to Hero and Legendary as those account are better to steal with if you play the game that way.
