at the time this article was published in march the market didn't even react properly while it was fantastic news. if such news won't get people excited, what else will?

Something pretty significant, like really really significant.  Like talk about it in the news for days significant.

Paypal finally rolled out it's Bitcoin payments integration, and not even a peep from the market....

Majority of bitcoins (around 75% of all bitcoins as of now) is now in Chinese hands so I imagine that they do not care about PayPal that much. They have local  equivalent services. I am not sure if PayPal even available in China.

Although most of the exchange volume is in China (BTC China, OKCoin, Huobi, etc), most of the innovation, startup companies, and burgeoning regulatory framework is happening in the United States.

BitPay, Coinbase, Bitcoin Investment Trust, COIN ETF, Gemini Exchange, NY Bitlicense, and of course aforemented in this thread company 21 inc.

No.  Tie your penis around a rope and throw it on a Bitcoin rocket, and it will go to the moon!

2124  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: April 10, 2015, 04:15:33 PM
i'm never buying a bitcoin again. this is clearly the end of bitcoin. its remarkable 230 is holding, but not for long, soon it will crash 30% in 1 hours time.

Clearly trolling but we said 250 was holding....240 was holding.....230 is holding but for how long?

Bitcoin is the worst investment possible in the last 12 months.

No more hope for Bitcoin.  NO one's buying it anymore, figuratively and literally.  DOOM!  Single digits here we come...

2125  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Would You Use a Bitcoin Debit Card? on: April 10, 2015, 03:15:38 PM

Why don't you try find someone one a country that will receive them for you and reship them on?

I hear where you're coming from, but it's bad enough I have to give all my personal info to Bit-X just to sign up for the card.  Now I have provide additional info to a complete stranger in another country?!!!   Huh

No offense to any of you overseas, I Love all my fellow Bitcoiners across the globe.  One of the main points I got into Bitcoin was the complete anonymity it provides, and providing my personal info and phone number to a centralized exchange, and my shipping address to a complete stranger totally go against that.

No thanks.

This is where the aspect of trust will have to play a major role. If you don't like sending over verification documents to use a service then don't use the service. Most people don't mind as they trust the exchange.

You don't have to provide your shipping address to a complete stranger!

Yea I know, I was referring to Tarantino's suggestion to get someone overseas ship the debit card to me, which require me providing a valid shipping address to a person I would have to somehow "trust".

Unfortunately, I don't know too many people around the world outside of my country the USA, that I'd just give my home or work shipping address randomly.
2126  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Did you mine it or buy it? on: April 10, 2015, 03:05:39 PM
Both of them.  Mining and buying.

Started off on faucets like any noob, just to see what a Bitcoins "look like".  Started mining, joined slush's pool, played around with CG miner, got fucked by Black Arrow pre order, ordered an Antminer S1 instead, and off I dove into the mining biz.

Soon after, made my first person to person exchange on LocalBitcoins, then opened a Coinbase account, and started messing around on BTC-E and Crypsty for my trading fix.

Now, I'm retired from the mining scene and active trading scene.  I just do it Grandma style, BUY AND HODL.
2127  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: INVEST BITCOIN!!! on: April 10, 2015, 02:23:25 PM
For investors that want to invest in Bitcoin, but in the more traditional fiat based way, you can probably get in on GBTC and COIN when it eventually launches:

-snip-

Is that a legit site? Seems a little bit fishy for me.

If you're talking about Ticker symbol GBTC which will represent BIT (Bitcoin Investment Trust) on the OTC markets, that's as legit as it gets.

Look up Barry Silbert.  He's in charge of BIT.

As far as the Winklevii, I'm sure you've heard of them in the news, and heard of their ETF, COIN, as well as their upcoming exchange, Gemini.  All fully regulated and legitimate awaiting launch sometime this year.

Basically, what CB said. The system is regulated by the Fed. If they screwed people over, it wouldn't be some "let's just run off because nobody will find us" situation like we've been dealing with. The Fed itself would step in.

But is the ETF actually worth buying into? I still don't quite get what they do (I do in general, but what about this specific one)?

The GBTC and COIN ETF is like any other ETF or any other holding or stock shares in a company.

It's like investing in GLD or SLV without actually having gold or silver bars in your safe.  You'd be owning fractions of a Bitcoin with both GBTC and COIN, all without the headaches of actually safe guarding, air gapping, backing up, or securing your stash.

Some people like peace of mind or like to offload the "security" risk to the valid exchanges, instead of straight up ownership.

So essentially it's virtual virtual bitcoins, then, Smiley.

I'm slightly familiar with ETFs from the perspective of like "S&P 500" and such. I wasn't aware that it was simply a holding vehicle for the underlying assets, though (new to investing) and didn't even know you could use them for things like gold/silver.

Yes sir!  Something along those lines.  Holding shares in Bitcoin, about 1/10th of a whole Bitcoin, but without the Gox'ing, Stamp'ing, or Mycoining that's been going on.

Should be any day now, based on the news, GBTC could be launched as early as next week:

2129  Economy / Economics / Re: Is Bitcoin Money or Currency on: April 10, 2015, 01:49:25 PM
Bitcoin is none of the above...it's not Money, nor Currency, nor groundbreaking technology.  It's a damn cult!!!   Angry

Satoshi is L Ron Hubbard or David Koresh, and we all drank the Kool Aid!

I want my Biontology refund back, Satoshi!!!!   Shocked

P.S. - This post is totally in jest.

I was Really Happy When BIT-x announced that They are going to release A Debit Card, But when It release the thing is that they Dont Allow send Card to my country, Then I went for a advcash the Same thing with them also they also Dont alow member from my Country, Now Im looking for Anx card and Send a message to OP if they can send a Card to my country. I will not apply for XAPO card, I think Its not a Good Site.

That's the boat I'm in as well.  None of the Bitcoin debit cards ship to the continental US, so I'm pretty much screwed.

Sucks for one's willing to be guinea pigs.  OH well, as soon as the regulatory framework finally gets established, there'll be a ton of these cards on the market....

She's a beautiful baby!  I haven't read the last few pages, how were you going to incorporate Bitcoin into the process again?
2133  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We just hit a new record of average monthly transactions per day on: April 09, 2015, 09:09:58 PM
I'll take any positive bit of news or numbers to help me drown my sorrow or block out the pain at Bitcoin's forever dropping price... Embarrassed

But hey!  We got people actually using the thing!  Gotta keep truckin' on.

"I would sell all my Bitcoins if..."

One of these shitcoins takes over like Darkcoin, NXT, Ripple, CRAVE, CLAMS, or the latest piece of shit, LEO.
2135  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is just to complicated for the average person to use.. on: April 09, 2015, 07:05:01 PM
With all new technologies there is always some thing or application that takes them main stream. The GUI for computers, porn made VHS mainstream instead of betamax, and the walkman made personal music players popular. I think we have yet to see the app or device that does this for bit coin. It will be exciting when it does.

You shouldn't rule out that Bitcoin could be the modern day betamax...

Tamagatchi, Beanie Baby, Microsoft Zune, HD-DVD...I'll take it at this point!

We haven't even gotten out of early Beta to be even considered by the public...

2138  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I am pretty confident we are the new wealthy elite, gentlemen. on: April 09, 2015, 01:19:34 PM
For those who was in 2011 and talking Bitcoin here, yes, they are the wealthy elite now, for now for us who talking Bitcoin dropped from $1000, yes, we won't be elite after them.

Unfortunately, I too came after the ATH bubble burst in 2013, so I, along with any relative newcomers could be considered "Elite poor".   Cry

Hopefully, things turn around soon for us Elite bums...

You would think, since we touched this level 3 times in the past month alone, the bears would just give a shrug instead celebrating like we're at penny BTC already...

LE try to honeypot us...you honeydick them right back!!!   Angry

Joking aside, if you're trading 50, 100 BTC lots on LocalBitcoins, you might as well know the state laws and general AML/KYC/MSB regulatory laws.

if it's 5 or 10 BTC, no one gives a f#ck, but if you're transacting real racks, you should be licensed.
