2121  Other / Off-topic / Re: Don't imitate others; do what works for you. on: February 08, 2023, 01:39:00 PM
Imitate the good side of others and take the good side of yourself. But there is something different about greatness, the quality is in you. But you have to imitate some things about others which will take you to your destination, but let your imitation be towards the direction you are moving towards and let it be what will help the public.
2122  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What Does it Mean to DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH(DYOR)? on: February 08, 2023, 01:07:17 PM
Assuming you want to buy a coin or token, you can not just buy it, you can check when the coin has been existing and how volatile the coin is. You can check the coin marketcap, supply and also know more about the coin.

Another is a new project, you can not just invest, you have to know the plan of the developers, check their white paper to be unique and convincing, looking for plagiarism to know if it is fakenor not.

Some people can not go for a coin that has not been existing for a long time, because new coins can become shit coins and new project can be fake. That is another research.

2124  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2022/2023 on: February 08, 2023, 07:13:23 AM
I could remember I have read where someone wrote in this forum how clubs that changed their coaches hardly lose their first match. Every player will like to please the new coach and play very well. It is not going to be an easy one for a midfieldless Manchester United to win that match. No Casemiro, no Eriksen
Leads United was never a good club before and now the club has deteriorated and has gone worse again this season. Meeting at Old Trafford is one thing, Lead United gone worse is another, another is that it is an away match for Leed United which they are far more worse about. What I think about this match is that Leed still have no chance to win. I am expecting Leed United to lose this match, even if they did not lose, I am not expecting the club to win.
2125  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: biometrics authentication not entirely secure? on: February 08, 2023, 07:02:03 AM
No

Biometric auth is, among other things:

1. Fingerprints
2. Iris scans
3. Facial recognition

Deepfakes obviously cannot replicate fingerprints. The irises in deepfakes are also too small to be detected by a camera (and even then, it can trivially detect its presence on an electronic screen, thereby defeating those attempts to break in. Same with facial recognition).

The only thing deepfakes are, are a nuisance to politicians and public figures.
But person's finger can be cut, it can be used.

The person's eyes can be removed for the purpose.

The person's face can be used with force.

If it is just password or pin, it is from the mind and no one may know it expect the person, unlike biometry that makes it easier to steal something from someone.

Do not forget that someone's fingerprint can be gotten too. Also if you are sleeping, I may become your enemy and use your finger to unlock your phone and your wallet and steal from you and I will be able to and become your friend again, not knowing of the evil work that I have done until you see it, but you never known who did it.

You are right with what you said but biometrics are not recommended in security than password or pin.
2126  Economy / Economics / Re: Some Reasons For Failed Cash Transactions on: February 08, 2023, 06:52:38 AM
Technical errors are inevitable, and it is not easy to supervise many transfers in a short time, which is also difficult to supervise customer questions in the support department.
You are not new to bitcoin and cryptocurrencies which prove that technical error can be eliminated, but no elimination as a result of how online fiat payment is and causing problem of errors and failed transactions, although I have noticed some years ago that you do not have to contact customer care for most error like deduction of money after a failed transaction because the thing will automatically later correct itself and you will be refunded. But blockchain proves better as it eliminate errors of failed transactions.
2127  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: how many times have you intended to stop gambling on: February 08, 2023, 06:44:42 AM
Some people can't stop and some can just forget about it and go on to doing something else. If a person had already gone addicted to gambling before and then overcome it when he was still a teen, I think it's easier for him to stop. For someone who had just become addicted to gambling and then wanted to stop, it may require willingness.
Be it a teen or an adult, to quit gambling after they have been addicted requires willingness. The problem that most addicted gamblers face is that they are not welling to stop, once they think that this is not helping them and can destroy their life as they are addicted and willing to stop, they will stop.

I do gamble with dice and blackjack from time to time but when I lose the amount I allocated for that time, I also quit and let go of the loss.
You let go of the loss, but you did not quit gambling, you only stop gambling for awhile for a bad mind not to build up within you at the time which can make you to lose significant sum of money in gambling.
2128  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Osmosis on: February 07, 2023, 05:59:38 AM
Or it could be a source error where you got these figures from.
Maybe, but the circulating supply is even higher on Coingecko than Coinmarketcap, I used Coinmarketcap. Which means the circulating supply is higher on Coingecko. Maybe both sites are not getting the value right.

Yeah that's interesting. My guess is the total supply information is not up to date while the circulating supply data is updated in real-time based on API (i.e. https://api-osmosis.imperator.co/supply/v1/osmo)
Oh! Probably what happened, thanks for bring it clear.

So you earn just by storing the coin or token in your wallet without joining any staking pool? That would be cool but probably not the case here.
It is the case here, there are some coins you can connect to a node and stake directly on your wallet, some of other coins like solana, zilliqa, atom and some others can be staked like that too.
2129  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Osmosis on: February 06, 2023, 12:28:00 PM
Is osmosis a good coin? I noticed that you can stake the coin directly on wallet and earn some percentage profit. But I checked the coin market information.

Maximum supply: 1 billion
Circulating supply: 492.59 million
Total supply: 325 million

It has a good marketcap which is $495 million, but why is the circulating supply higher than the total supply? All the coins that I have checked before, either the circulating supply is lesser than or equals to the total supply, why higher this time?
2130  Economy / Economics / Re: How Bitcoin mooved from grass to grace. on: February 06, 2023, 07:23:35 AM
Investing your little money on Bitcoin isn't a RISK
Assuming you invested when bitcoin price was $65000, will you be happy by now? The price of bitcoin may reach $100000 and the person may later gain, but what if he needs the money and sold at loss? Do not say investing in bitcoin is not risky, it requires knowledge and experience for not to invest at wrong time.
2131  Economy / Reputation / Re: Paid fake Trustpilot 5 star review seller. on: February 05, 2023, 06:49:36 PM
It is no more new that some websites are full of fake reviews, there are some fake sites with fake reviews too. Review can help to some extent, but we should not full depend on it. Assuming I am looking for an exchange, I can check Trustpilot, but that is not the end, I will still check sites like Coingecko and also check online to know if the site is good or not. Reviews are helpful at times, but we should not fully depend on it because some are just fake. There are many things to consider while researching about a site. You can even check how old the site is and also asking on this forum if the site is good or not.
2132  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2022/23 on: February 03, 2023, 05:40:31 PM
There was no other choice but to win the match against Valencia and in the end Real Madrid managed to win 2-0. Do not underestimate Real Madrid because this victory proves that they are still capable of winning and provide enough additional points for Real Madrid to stay on top second place at the top of the standings.
That is just La Liga. Barcelona or Real Madrid will either be in the first or second position, they are the two clubs that have been dominating La Liga since, seeing Real Madrid at the second position is not surprising at all and the league would be won by one of the two clubs. Definitely what did we expect? Real Madrid versus Valencia when Valencia is not a good club as of some times in the past, Real Madrid has not even lost a single match at home this season.
2133  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is your earliest Gambling Story? on: February 03, 2023, 04:38:19 PM
My first gambling story was playing cards which is pretty normal in my country especially during the funeral wake.
You'll see a lot of minors here playing with cards and the Bingo, this has been part of our culture and I guess many started their gambling journey with this as well  without realizing the possible risk of getting exposed that early. I can say that I still manage to control myself and be more responsible, gambling is fund if you are playing with your friends but more risky if you do this alone without any control.
This reminds me of the old time when my friend and I will team up to gamble with someone that is not a friend and using all possible means to make sure the person lose. I do not gamble with friends but I gamble with people that are not my friend and I which to win and spend their money. But it is now the days that we can visit casino or gamble online, it is more of fun to be with my friends, gambling together at times, supporting one another to stake a better match or game.
2134  Economy / Gambling / Re: What do you appreciate more Desktop or Phone on: February 03, 2023, 04:31:18 PM
I usually gamble on sports, so I prefer using my desktop because, at the same time, I enjoyed watching the game live. A better experience gives me better satisfaction for me especially if I win. Of course, sometimes I also use my phone if I'm away from my PC, like when I'm out of my house going somewhere for business transactions.
I do use some betting site like bet365 to watch some live matches but just that they do not show big matches like Champions League which I do not like, but there are other ways to watch live matches like that. If you use a smart TV, it won't be hard to project or cast your phone screen to the TV to watch what ever you want to watch, including the matches you are watching live on your betting account. Using phone this day is getting better. But for better experience like I have said before, it is better on laptop, but convenience are more on phones, especially if you use a good mid range or high range phone.
2135  Economy / Gambling / Re: Gambler Loses 1.4 million USD in a bet with lower than 1.01 odds! on: February 03, 2023, 11:14:48 AM
I have had such thinking several times while gambling (Usually while playing Dice)— If I bet huge amount at low odds I'll be making easy money. Chances of losing such bets are low but never null. I'm glad I didn't go way of this thinking.
I have been gambling before I joined this forum, I have this thinking before, that if I gamble with lower odds, I can win more, but it does not work like that, I can win many times, but just a single or two losses can make me lose all my money until I have no money left to gamble. Online easy access make it easier to lose more because people that bet on low odds are likely to also be betting frequently which is the other problem. I gambled like this, I lost high amount of money, I quit and I now prefer to use high odds but not too high.
2136  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Charitable Casinos on: February 03, 2023, 11:08:19 AM
Well, all casinos should maintain good credibility regardless if they are charity-based or not, otherwise people will not support it and will find other casinos to bet. Personally, I have heard before about charity based casino but I don’t know if something like this exists in our country. But if there is any, I guess I should start taking part on it by betting some of my extra funds on it. Either it’s a win or lose, at least I have contributed a good amount to help those people who are in bad position right now.
If a casino do not have the qualities of competing with other casinos, nobody will care if it is for charity or not, what people care most about is the qualities that casinos have which makes them to enjoy staying. As for me, I will prefer to just make a direct donation for charity, I like the qualities many gambling site here on this forum are having. The mission is to get money for charity purpose, we can also pay directly to the charity address or account number while making use of other casinos too. I will like people to tell us about their experience while they make use of charitable casino.
2137  Economy / Economics / Re: Bank of China ex-advisor calls Beijing to reconsider crypto ban on: February 03, 2023, 01:27:05 AM
China banned bitcoin but their citizens still use it as a property. Chinese government ban bitcoin mining and brought bitcoin mining hash rates to zero but China is now the second country with the highest bitcoin hash rates. China banned bitcoin several times but bitcoin got to all-time-high over and over after several ban. Without China, bitcoin can survive.

It would be better for Chinese government to rethink, they like centralized things like their own money, their own CBDC, their own apps for social media. If possible that China can live without the people outside of China, their government would have done that. Because bitcoin is decentralized, they do not support it, it would be good if they reconsider their wrong past decision.
2138  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC Sentiment Poll for February on: February 03, 2023, 01:19:11 AM
Bitcoin got to over $24000 today, it is still possible that bitcoin will hit $25000 very soon, but the market can be very unpredictable and the bear time which may occur for a short time might have started, but I still have high hopes that bitcoin will soon get to $25000 which would be a resistant price.

In terms of shaking and volatility we are not out of woods yet, and that doesn't mean we would be looking at lower bottom next. If we keep going up now, there will be a huge correction again and alts will hurt way more then btc from that. It can feel like a doomsday for sure.
Altcoins are more volatile, if bitcoin can get below $20000 again, it would be hard on altcoins, it would not be a surprise to see some altcoins to decrease more than half of their price now.

2139  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin adoption growing stronger everyday on: February 03, 2023, 01:11:29 AM
actually I will not care about bitcoin being legalized or used as a means of payment by the government, because in my opinion the most important thing is that the government must allow its people to invest in bitcoin, yes, even if they have to pay taxes to the government.
and in my opinion, bitcoin is very difficult to make as means of payment, because the price is unstable, and maybe that's why the government doesn't allow btc to be used as means of payment.
The government do not allow bitcoin as a means of payment? I am doubting that, except in countries that bitcoin is totally banned, there are many bitcoin friendly countries in the world. Only what the government will not allow is to make bitcoin a legal tender, but if you want to use it, they do not stop you from using it. If you like you can send it to someone or not. The government do not care about citizens to that extent, they care more about their pockets and their selfish reasons, that is the reason why they will not accept bitcoin to a greater extent because they do not want decentralization that can reduce their control.
2140  Economy / Gambling / Re: I accidentally deposited to self-excluded stake.com account. on: February 03, 2023, 01:03:16 AM
yes mate OP are still a lucky guy as we all know that some casino during like this kind of issues casino itself won't Give a chance to the gambler withdraw his/her funds after checking the terms and conditions of the casino. And OP still that this casino is good on terms of handling their customer and even though 48 weeks of waiting. But still worth it because during the final day you can withdraw and spent it.
It is his money, how is he lucky than a gambling site to openly scam someone? If Stake did not do anything, they are damaging their reputation is what I thought of. It is just self exclusion, not a ban on his account which can give a valid reason for Stake not to send him the money back. Even if the self exclusion period is over, he should be able to see his money because his address on Stake only belong his account.
