2121  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it safe keep my money in cloud? on: November 16, 2022, 05:34:41 AM
Please remove it immediately, because it is not safe and it has been proven ....over and over again. Cloud storage is not suitable at all for any storage of valuable information or something with monetary value.

It is well known that everything that are being stored in these cloud storage services are being scrutinized by private and government organizations. (It is a honey pot of information for them and it will destroy any pseudo anonymity that you might have had over your financial matters)

It is much easier to print a few Paper wallets.... laminate them and store them in 2 or more separate geographical locations.  Wink

2122  Economy / Gambling / Re: Stake.com - The Leading Crypto Casino - 🦉 Drake, UFC, Watford Main Partner ⚽ 🥊 on: November 15, 2022, 06:59:30 AM
We’re in the gambling business, but we’d never gamble with our user’s funds.

Deposit, play and withdraw instantly. That’s what we stand for.

The events that have taken place the past week in the crypto space should serve as yet another reminder to take control of your crypto.

Are you referring to the email exploit at Stake.com or the bankrupt Exchange (FTX) ..#Stunna?

If I understand deposits at a casino correctly.... it goes into a casinos internal database and some of those funds goes into the casinos hot and cold wallets. (So users lose control over their coins/tokens... the moment when it is deposited into a casino or some other custodial service... right?)

I do not use centralized exchanges to store my coins, because I want to have sole access to my Private keys (giving me full control) ...but I relinquish that control, when I deposit it into a casino.

Even if you VAULT your coins/tokens... it can be accessed if you login details were phished. I would suggest that a second password be implemented for access to the VAULT ...so that you cannot lose all your coins ..in a single phishing attack.

I used 2FA to give me some protection .....but some skilled hacker, will soon combine these attacks ..with Sim swap techniques to bypass that too.  Huh
2123  Economy / Gambling / Re: Sanitize the Gambling Board. on: November 15, 2022, 06:45:00 AM
I personally feel topics like that needs to be discussed and that it should be posted in the gambling discussion section, but the moderators of that section are deleting those kind of posts in the gambling discussion section, so that is why people are posting it in the gambling section.

I also think... people who wants to discuss gambling topics like that.. will go to a gambling related section of the forum and not to a meta or general section... where everything else is discussed.  Roll Eyes
2124  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2022-10-19] Europe to ban crypto mining this winter on: November 15, 2022, 06:26:59 AM
One of the by products of Bitcoin and Crypto mining is heat...

One of my friends in Europe are mining Alt coins with his GPU mining rig and the excess heat is used to heat his house. I know ASICS are not generating as much heat, but GPUs are running quite hot.... when you have a bunch of them.

What is the difference between a gamer that are running a massive gaming rig and a smaller Crypto miner running a GPU rig to mine Alt coins? (At least the heat from the mining rig are being used for something and it's paying for other expenses)  Roll Eyes

Will they ban Gamers too, because they are using the same GPU's.
2125  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: With a 99% drop in value of Crytpo Will the Morons Move On?? on: November 15, 2022, 06:19:29 AM
OP, I am one of those early coiners that stood on the corner of McDonalds under the CCTV to buy bitcoins. (Person-to-Person) ....and back then, Bitcoin was highly illegal and the enemy of the governments.  Roll Eyes

Since then, centralized Exchanges figured out how to make money from this technology and they also figured out how to destroy pseudo anonymity for many people that traded Crypto currencies. (KYC requirements)

People saw the ATH spike in the price of Bitcoin and Exchanges made it convenient and fast for people to trade... so they forgot about the early coiners goals to make this a technology that were meant to introduce financial freedom and financial privacy.  Angry

I feel your anger.....  Sad
2126  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I want sell my house for bitcoin on: November 15, 2022, 05:31:46 AM
If I understand you correctly.... you have two properties...and the one is empty? Well, my best advice would be to find someone to occupy your second property and to get some rent income from it. Then you pay all your expenses and whatever is left, can be used to buy some bitcoins.

There are a lot of hidden expenses in property ownership... Examples : Maintenance / Insurance / Admin fees / Municipal taxes / Utilities etc... so a property that are not generating an income to pay for the expenses... are a bad investment. (You also mentioned that the property value stayed the same for a few years, so you not even making a profit on that)

Option 2 : Sell the property... put the money into a Bank... take the interest on that amount and buy bitcoins.  Wink (low + high risk investment into one investment)  Wink
2127  Economy / Gambling / Re: Stake.com - The Leading Crypto Casino - 🦉 Drake, UFC, Watford Main Partner ⚽ 🥊 on: November 14, 2022, 01:45:01 PM
So Eddie decided to go with "Kick" again.. with all it's flaws?

~ Black screen for most users (no video) - Even after they used several different browsers.
~ Mobile issues (same as above)
~ Chat screen freezing
~ Refresh browser and then you cannot connect again.
~ Signup issues - Confirmation code not send or huge delay on email confirmation.

I hope Stake will take this up with the developers of "Kick" or simply go back to DLive. It is good to have several options.. but then it has to work properly.  Wink
I don't know why Eddie is still continuing on streaming on Kick even after a lot of complaint from the previous livestream, maybe some partnership from the platform idk, however other than some delay on the confirmation code and chat screen freezing, probably because of the number of viewers, I have not encountered other issues on Kick. The live was great but sometimes the resolution changes and goes back after a while.

Hopefully, Kick will be notified about these issues and fix it as soon as possible.

@Kakmakr even I’m surprised that Stake decides to mess it up again, because they usually listen to the community’s feedback but I hope next time these issues are ironed out.

There are too many people who are asking for a proof and didn't believe Stunna (or didn't see his messages) and that’s not something Stake should care about because A- we are in just bitcointalk, they have a much much bigger audience then here and B- they do not really need to prove anything to anyone and still can be trusted by tens of thousands of people because of how amazing they have been so far.

If anyone saw what Stunna said and still do not believe him, then by all means they should not be continue to gamble here because if you don't believe in the word of Stunna then I do not know what would make you believe or be convinced that all is doing well.
I think you are making a big mistake if you think that Bitcointalk users opinion doesn't matter. Unlike other platforms, there is almost no censorship here, what it is written stays for long and is easily retrieved by Google, moreover the biggest people of the crypto industry have an account here.
Twitch seems to have been a powerful tool for promoting casinos but now it has ended and casinos need to find other ways to attract new customers. I don't know precisely what is the average loyalty lifetime of a customer at an online casino, but I guess it's very short, hardly more than a whole year on average IMO.
According to this article, only 20% of customers make more than 5 deposits, and only 50% make a second deposit. So it would be a big mistake in the long run for a crypto casino to disregard the central place of the crypto universe IMO.

Quote
The client becomes loyal to the company after making at least six deposits. However, only 20% reach the sixth deposit, that is, one out of five people: this is where a considerable loss of money happens. From the moment of making the first deposit to making the second deposit, gambling companies lose half of the players.
https://www.quora.com/Whats-the-average-Customer-Lifetime-Value-of-an-online-casino-client-in-your-country-or-company/answer/Karen-Fill?oid=265084621

I personally believe that this community’s opinion matter a lot, and that’s why I look to see what other experienced user’s respond because it’s easy to accuse a casino but in the end most of them fail to convince the community that a scam actually took place.
Steve tried logging in from mobile during the stream and he was saying it worked fine for him. I personally use edge browser and besides a little lag I had no issues with the stream. I didn't make an account as I only use Kick for that stream so I cannot comment on that issue.

I swapped from Firefox to Opera and it did not work, so I tried Chrome and it connected with almost no issues. I think the more popular browsers SHOULD be working fine with "Kick" ..... Microsoft Edge being one of them.  Wink

Some mobile phones use the lite version of the browser.. and that might be the issue.  Roll Eyes  Also, once I was connected... I had almost no lag, like I have with DLive and Twitch... so that is a bonus, if they can solve the other issues. (Chat freeze)

Also, if you have a Google account, you do not have to signup for the Kick account.... then the email confirmation will not be an issue.
2128  Economy / Economics / Re: 2022 has been one of the most significant eventful years of crypto history. on: November 14, 2022, 06:09:51 AM
The thing you have mentioned are just part of the natural cycle of every new technology. We saw this happening with ICOs and now it is happening with Defi and NFT projects.

All of these projects have one thing in common... namely : They have scammers that are moving from one new technology to the next and it has 1000s of legit projects, trying to make a profit.  Tongue

A lot of these projects are in competition with each other, so they rush to be first to market.... and they mess up the code. This result in exploits in the code and subsequent hacking that takes place.  Angry
2129  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2022-11-03] Plans Now Let Workers Put Retirement Money Into Cryptocurrency on: November 14, 2022, 05:48:23 AM
I say why not?

Every investment portfolio should have a good balance between Low / Medium / High risk investment options. If a person invest say 50% of their funds in low risk and 30% in medium risk and then 20% in high risk Crypto investments.... then I will not have a problem with that.

Pension on average... do not grow aggressively, because the investment structure are pumped into low risk investments with slow growth... so exposure to some high risk Crypto investments... can help to boost it with good growth.  Wink
2130  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Not your key not your coins is real, not just quoted. (FTX Issue) on: November 14, 2022, 05:33:13 AM
People are used to custodial wallets where a centralized authority guard and manage their money for them, so they should also accept the risk that come with that. We live in a world where lazy people want convenience and these central authorities offer that for them on a plate. (at a cost)

The people who use methods to store their coins, where they have full control over their Private keys... are the people who understand the risks associated with the use of custodial wallets. (They saw what happened in Cyprus, where the Banks took people's deposits and they also saw what happened with Mt Gox and all the other Exchanges that got hacked)  Roll Eyes
2131  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Can Binance also get bankrupt soon? on: November 13, 2022, 10:39:47 AM
Centralized Exchanges are one of the points of failure for the whole Crypto currency system, because it can be targeted by it's enemies. Examples  ==> Government sanctioned hacking or sabotage / Government regulations / Traditional Banking systems..

These Exchanges are a threat to the Banking system, because they cannot allow other services to disrupt their business. (That includes money laundering practices)  Wink

Binance is a centralized Exchange and it's already being targeted by the government ....so it is a question of time... not if it is going to happen.  Roll Eyes
2132  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What problem does Bitcoin solve? on: November 13, 2022, 09:47:15 AM
When you ask this question... you should talk to the following people first :

~ People in Cyprus - Money from personal bank accounts were confiscated to pay for the country's bailout.
~ People from Zimbabwe -  After years of hyperinflation, the country officially dropped the Zimbabwean dollar in 2015.
~ People that used "Backpage" - Visa will not process transactions from online classified portal Backpage.com.
~ Credit card donations to Wikileaks blocked for 3 years -  US-linked banking blockade against WikiLeaks.
~ Banks in Greece closed their doors and limited withdrawals at ATMs. - All this to stop a Bank run, because they failed.

These are just some of the things that has happened in the past and Bitcoin were used as an alternative to solve some of those problems.  Wink  (Just Google it.... you will see how Bitcoin were used)  Wink
2133  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Who are those people that you don't want them to know you are a gambler on: November 13, 2022, 09:32:45 AM
Guilty Pleasures ---> There are just some stuff people do not need to know.... and whatever you do with your own time and money.. are one of those things. Why should people find the need to scrutinize every little thing you do..... it is none of their business.

That is the attitude that I have... I know gambling are wrong in many people's opinion... but I enjoy it... so why should I care what they think? I am not using their money.... so why should they care?

2135  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cash out or wait till the end on: November 12, 2022, 11:56:28 AM
I chicken out early... when I do a multi bet and it goes down to the last 1 or 2 bets, because it leaves me with money to fight another day. It also depends on how much I put on the multi bet... if it is a high amount, I will cash out early.... but if it is a small amount.. I will risk it.  Grin

Sports betting can be fun, if you manage the risk properly.... it is not like Slots ..where the RTP is set by the house and your destiny is locked in.  Tongue
2136  Economy / Economics / Re: Meta fires 11k employees - Effect of economy or being bullish about metaverse? on: November 12, 2022, 11:46:20 AM
I do not blame them.. the global economy is in a recession and many companies are scaling down on projects that are expensive... that said.... 13% of their global workforce is not a lot.

I do not think the Metaverse is a failed project, I just think the timing for it is not really good.... because loads of people are struggling with finances and connectivity like this will cost a lot of money.  Roll Eyes

Hey, welcome to the forum... MegaPari  Grin

I have to say..... there are really a lot of Slot providers on your site ..that I do not know. The more popular providers are there .. like Hacksaw and Quickspin etc... but I did not see Pragmatic Games?

I also like the "Bet check" feature, but I would rather want it to be incorporated into the bet history... so when you click on a bet... it can be checked automatically.  Huh
2138  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and the cryptospace is threatened by this legislation backed by Sam on: November 12, 2022, 09:16:56 AM
This is no different to "Circle" attracting users by supporting Bitcoin and then doing a 180 business model, where they do not support Bitcoin anymore. Also.... big supporters of Bitcoin and Financial freedom ...like Mike Hearn and Roger Ver.... suddenly fighting against Bitcoin and all these noble causes.  Roll Eyes

They come in... make a shitload of money from Crypto currencies.. and then they forget about their original reasons why they supported this technology.  Roll Eyes
2139  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin survived a lot more than one Exchange going bankrupt - Remember that on: November 11, 2022, 11:22:12 AM
To be fair, the recent price dip isn't just because of one exchange. It's a compounding effect involving a declining worldwide economy, i.e a global recession. War which has fuelled fear, but also dwindled resources for the every day person. Recovering from a global pandemic which pretty much stopped the world at one point.

So, while the word on everyone's mouth right now is Ftx, and how that's made Bitcoin drop further, Bitcoin was already struggling at that point (like pretty much every investment during this time), and the reasons are pretty much easy to identify.

Plus, we're now going into the Christmas period which historically people are shorter of cash, and therefore less investment is pumped into things like Bitcoin. So, some people might think that the investors are losing faith because of these compounding events, but in reality things are currently tight because of those events, and after we've recovered from them, Bitcoin will likely see a recovery from there.

So, while I do get your point about one exchange being irrelevant, the compounding effect can't be underestimated, and technically we're in unprecedented times due to it. That doesn't mean Bitcoin's going to fail, but I think it's important to establish this isn't just about one exchange.

Yes, I agree with you... but FTX was a trigger event for the latest BIG drop in the price. So I am focusing on that event as a major indicator for the panic selling that is going on. Exchanges that are hacked or those who go bankrupt, always get a lot of attention from the media, because the media just love bad news....and when it is Bitcoin bad news... they scramble to report about it.  Roll Eyes

I would say that the other things that you mentioned, just put a brake on the growth and adoption ... it did not cause a panic sell, like we saw with this exchange nonsense.  Roll Eyes  (I think too many people rely too much on centralized exchanges, so this might be a good warning for many of them)

I just want to know how we can verify that email that were send from Stake....are actually legit emails... since Stake's own service was compromised? I know #Stunna are saying that it is all sorted, but we should think of ways to prevent this in future.

I am just happy that our Stake users are so quick to respond in the English Chat, when emails are send out ...and also that the mods in those channels are responsive when people ask questions. (So my advice..... ask in the chat, before you click on an email, even if it is from Stake)
