2121  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: First National Innovation Brokers exposed on: May 31, 2013, 11:53:54 AM
Oh, I remember investigating this scum. Didn't I trace the dudes behind this back to their ghetto hovel way back then? Don't know if I did this here or on SA. Let's see if I can find my old posts.

EDIT: Oh yeah, there we go: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=47496.20

Shame they took down the picture of the ghetto hovel.
2122  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin Town on: May 29, 2013, 03:14:00 PM
This looks very interesting. Real quick, how is it a bitcoin town? You've put out a good amount of content, but lets sort through the clutter and get to the facts of it all. How is it a BITCOIN Town? I see the pictures from this post: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=216139.0

You should rather ask how it is a TOWN. Because right now it's an acre of arid New Mexico land without access to water and a manic-depressive weedhead that is banned on half the Internet for being a manic-depressive weedhead as it's leader.

Lol. I'm glad you read enough to know that it's on more than one acre and that we have plans for water...
And you seem to be just as informed about me as you are about the project (0% informed that is)

Haha, I'm not gonna discuss with you crazy person. We learned that from dank, where we genuinely tried to help him, that this is entirely useless thanks to the specific alterations MJ does to a person's mind. But do continue your "planning". It is most amusing.

2124  Economy / Goods / Re: WTB__ COCA LEAF on: May 29, 2013, 02:44:12 PM
It still has alkaloid content, And you know which one.

Quote from: wikipedia
The alkaloid content of coca leaves is low, between .25% and .77%, and production of cocaine from coca requires complex chemical processes.[2] This means that chewing the leaves or drinking coca tea does not produce the high (euphoria, megalomania) people experience with cocaine

How 90s.

So is using HTML tables to style a footer.   Wink

I didn't scroll that far down. Now I did. I'm not sure if I should feel nostalgic or very very sad.
2126  Economy / Services / Re: Bitcoin Store Engine: please provide feedback on: May 29, 2013, 02:25:34 PM
I remember. It was when I installed Outpost.
And MSVC.
And Photoshop.
And there also were couple of e.books.
And, by the way, what do you think you did in order to be able to use this forum? That's right, you received an e.mail with the link to "activate" your account. This is a registration code, no mater what you call it and no mater that it was free.
Transparent, huh?
Passwords to pay-for-use scientific magazines.
Kindle books.
Music... I don't know, maybe even music.

I buy DRM protected media all day every day. It's my job. I buy and sell information. I spend over 6 million dollars annually on DRM protected scientific and non-scientific information. I have not seen a registration code in years. My clients would stone me.
2127  Economy / Services / Re: Bitcoin Store Engine: please provide feedback on: May 29, 2013, 01:48:13 PM
Err... You mean all software, ebooks and everything should be free?
I agree, let's tell it Microsoft and Adobe.

No. I just can't remember when was the last time DRM required me to c&p codes instead of just handling access rights transparently for the user.

And I didn't even call his father yet...  Sad

Is your bio on him legit? Source?

Only as legit as the WHOIS entry. So there's always the possibility of someone having entered another one's adress.

In any case he deleted it now. Seems to have gotten the message.

Also he's like an hour away from where I am. So there's no problem in going there to split a neighbourly piece of cake.

How 90s.
2131  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: BITCOIN MAGAZINE ARRIVED! on: May 29, 2013, 01:28:31 PM
Issue 9 Get!

Just got mine in Korea too!

Jeeze... the articles and ads in here are either out-of-date or beaten to death by the community at large already... This is pretty pathetic. There's even an ad for the conference.

Which ones? (Are we talking about the Feb or March issue?)

I just received the April issue... It has ads for the conference and ads for BFL with old case designs on them.

Necessary lead times for the production of not very frequent print magazines will ensure the magazine to be out of date weeks before it ships.

There are essentially only two ways to remedy this:
- Raise the frequency of the publication schedule or
- Massively lower the quality of the print material to ensure short delays between "typesetting/layout", printing and shipping. Think "Pink Sheet" or Scripps style newsletters.
2132  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Butterfly Labs on: May 29, 2013, 12:47:37 PM
Fixed that for you:

Avalon and asicsminer will be super rich and BFL will be is super rich. but not super rich.

ASICS will be accessible to everyone!!!!!!

ordering now from BFL is a waste of time and capital

BFL already has our pre-order money, remember?

Well according to the pre-order page, they've only got 6 million bucks. Divided by the mythical 22 engineers that doesn't really compute to super-rich. Maybe "can buy a nice car" rich.
2133  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My one bitcoin and forks on: May 29, 2013, 12:45:04 PM
Yes and no.

All forks will have your coin at that address (or rather your adress will have a value of 1 coin in all forks).

However the abandoned forks are worthless and are no longer mined and thus not spendable, so you still have in total only the value of the 1 coin in the surviving fork as spendable value.
2134  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: be careful with BTC banks!!! on: May 29, 2013, 12:39:18 PM
Is it the Bitcoin Police? Last I checked they were still drunk from their latest BBQ.

Made my day.

Oh, I'm not joking. They exist. http://bitcoinpolice.org/

I also wasn't joking about the drunkards part.
2135  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Hi to all on: May 29, 2013, 12:34:14 PM
For example people could keep their savings in bitcoins and avert losing them due to inflation, defaults or taxes.

Meaning no one will ever buy anything.

defaults

Are insured by the government.

Not so with bitcoin, where the various defaults we have already seen always and invariably end in total loss. Total loss for the investor, mind you. Not the owner. The owners are in the Bahamas sipping cocktails.

taxes.

Keep your house from burning down. We've seen what happens with privately financed services. Your house burns down.

Transfer fees

Try to transfer bitcoin without a fee. Protip: Don't try to transfer bitcoin without a fee.

exchanges between different currencies,

I'll give you that

capital controls

Lack of capital controls after Bretton-Woods ended is exactly which led to the Latin American debt crisis, the East Asian Financial Crisis , the Russian Ruble crisis, and the Global Financial Crisis

2139  Other / Off-topic / Re: Satoshi is born! on: May 29, 2013, 11:41:32 AM
I wonder what is the reasoning behind them naming him "Satoshi"?
Maybe to express the appreciation for someone who deserves it  Smiley
Who?
Him?

Stop trolling please.

I'm not trolling. I'm asking. This is Satoshi Tajiri. Who had an obviously enormous impact on youth culture and the entertainment industry. I would think he deserves some appreciation.
2140  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: be careful with BTC banks!!! on: May 29, 2013, 11:38:26 AM
it is irrelevant where it is. Important is that it is against btc policy Smiley

There's a btc policy?

Who enforces that?

Is it the Bitcoin Police? Last I checked they were still drunk from their latest BBQ.
