2121  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Failed to Run Electrum after Updating on: August 09, 2021, 10:29:58 AM
Reinstalling is probably the best option, also make sure your operating system has had recent installs.

2122  Economy / Services / Re: Go in now? Or would that be commiting a cardinal sin? on: August 07, 2021, 01:08:13 PM
A 1-3 month hold would probably be alright about now without too much risk but if you've waited it out this long, why start now?

You might be better off coming back at the new $30k in 4 years and coming back to bet on that...

I get a feeling a lot of old money in crypto waited until they expected this cycle to start before interacting with the market - back when we started rising past $10-20k - if that did happen then there's probably some waiting until now to start buying too since doing this last time would've netted you 10x (if buying the base of the crash).
2123  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Is Bitcoin an independent property? on: August 07, 2021, 02:07:36 AM
This likely depends on where you live but since you've implies it's a country that does an even split, you'd have to split all your assets with the spouse in a divorce (unless you have a prenuptual agreement that states those assets are yours).

Also, this is just doing stuff within the law. Your bitcoins can be forceably taken from you when you exchange them for other items - however if you quickly moved and found a country that didn't care enough to enforce your divorce contract then you might get away with keeping them.
2124  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is Bitcoin Bullish At The Moment on: August 06, 2021, 08:50:22 PM
If bitcoin is following it's last trajectory, I think we'll be back to break through 60k quite soon (within a few months).

I think $44k was strong resistance on the way down and it'll probably be strong on the way up, but the longer we stay around here, the more potential we have to break through it.

I am just asking myself whether you have ever been into any kind of markets before. How many assets do you know about that went up by over 50% within the matter of weeks, and up by hundreds of percentage points within a matter of months, and up by thousands of percentage points within a matter of a couple of years?

Is Bitcoin bullish? Cheesy Give it a guess maybe!

Yeah bitcoin is yet to close a month sold - below 50 - on the RSI via coinbase (since being listed back in 2013 at least)...

A lot of tech stocks have done like bitcoin and are still quite strong - at least stocks like amazon and Google.

2125  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Where to find any good CRYPTO copy trading platforms? on: August 06, 2021, 07:23:05 PM
On top of what the others have mentioned, there was also covesting token (cov) that I've come across that looks to work on some centralised and decentralised exchanges - I haven't tried or looked much into it though.

If you copy trade, keep monitoring it! Some "traders" with a good track record often get nervous after successive losses and martingale (double their losses/profits on each position) themselves to 0... Make sure you keep withdrawing profits once you're up a certain amount and set stop losses if they're available.
2126  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Online (Browser Based) Mining? on: August 06, 2021, 02:52:18 AM
As mentioned above, a lot of miner plugins are scams (or others are just quite inefficient).

You could try looking at sites like nicehash if you want to earn bitcoin while running them - they work as a marketplace for selling computer power (just make sure to check recent reviews of places as even well known ones can scam - so it's a good idea to keep track of them a bit).

Additionally, if you just wanted to do something useful there's folding@home and a few other interesting projects you might be able to find/take a look at (but they might be best for, if you just don't want to wait for your computer to power up in the morning for example).
2127  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is margin trading good for beginners ? on: August 05, 2021, 08:22:07 PM
Margin trading is bad for the average person, regardless of their experience in trading - a good normal trader can still fail on margin if they can't properly manage risk.

Don't start margin trading unless you can turn a profit and have some accuracy trading (I'd say if you win 65+% of your last 50 trades, you could try moving to margin trading only then).
2128  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bullish News!!! on: August 05, 2021, 05:10:34 PM
The news I can find from last month is the Google pay can now work with coinbase cards. I've not found anything on buying or selling crypto with cash/fiat via Google pay - but it could've just been activated in some parts.
2129  Other / Meta / Re: Was +Merit option was always visible to your own posts or is it recently added on: August 05, 2021, 02:27:25 AM
No it's always been there (since activation in 2018), but you just can't award yourself any merits.
2130  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum funds stuck in lightning. Unable to force close channel on: August 04, 2021, 07:36:07 PM
Can you see the funding transaction? Are you certain the funds have actually left your wallet - check the transaction history?
2131  Other / Meta / Re: Free-Spin giveaway campaign is eligible in this forum? on: August 04, 2021, 06:36:38 PM
I've seen quite a few bitcoin giveaways in the past from gambling sites that seem to have stayed where they were so it's probably fine.

It might be worth looking at if there's a different way you could do it because a bump every few minutes (for example) might drown out anything useful on that board and if it gets too much the mods might react to it. I also can't remember if those posts were in the games and rounds or in micro earnings - one might be better than the other for dealing with bumps.
2132  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Be careful of low marketcap coins on: August 04, 2021, 06:29:29 PM
If bitcoin's too expensive for you and you want a whole of something, you might be good looking at other coins near the top like xmr, eth, ltc (and potentially doge). If it's just about units, most sites let you change them so $40 is 1mbtc instead of 0.001 btc which might look nicer to some.

Buying tiny cap coins or ones that have Eisen a lot like doge are likely going to bring you a greater loss at a better chance than bitcoin will (risk and reward aren't proportional - if they were most people would have the same amount of money).
2133  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Introduce Bitcoin in one sentence on: August 04, 2021, 02:23:37 AM
What's your audience?

It's one of the largest networks based on computing power at 90+ exahashes.

It's a way of sending money anywhere in the world within an hour or two (at most) - incurring very low fees.

It could be the precursor or something that is actually able to do what debit cards did 30+ years ago.

2134  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What would you rather buy for the long term right now...BTC or ETH? on: August 04, 2021, 01:25:43 AM
All I have eth for at the moment is to pay gas for things like usdt. I have a feeling the eth price will drop when the staked eth are released and eth will likely drop anyway over the next few months if bitcoin strengthens - as I'm thinking it will.
2135  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Strange email from Binance on: August 03, 2021, 08:56:21 PM
Can you paste the "from" address here for the email?

I'd say it was probably a scam if it said "security items reset" as that doesn't sound like good grammar but it'll probably be easier to work out if you can get the sender's email.
2136  Other / Off-topic / Re: Google's Quantum Computer Builds First-Ever Time Crystal on: August 03, 2021, 08:20:35 PM
science times is not a reputable source give me a reputable urce and I will look into it and give my opinion but until then I am not giving science times a click or the attention.

Most sources I can find to do with quantum computing seem to have doubt on if Google actually have a quantum computer or not (both mainstream media, economic and scientific news).
2137  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: As of today, Google ads for Bitcoin are no longer banned. on: August 03, 2021, 08:03:43 PM
I think it's probably for the best that they keep it banned to be honest. Especially at the time it is now, if we are nearing the end of the bull market. I have seen a lot of dodgy ads on duckduckgo still and I have a feeling those might just move across (although, that's probably the reason they might be thinking of bringing it back if a rival can compete with them on something then they'll probably be trying to quash it to keep up competition).

(June 3rd is the article I can find): It might've been something they were trying to silently pass though: https://beincrypto.com/google-allow-crypto-exchange-wallet-advertisements/
2138  Economy / Economics / Re: Gensler Chairman of SEC calls crypto "the wild west" on: August 03, 2021, 07:35:04 PM
It's a bit of a victimless attack though too is probably something we have to consider.

Western Governments still haven't gone for diamonds even though that market is heavily manipulated and at least was mainly used in exchange for slaves and forced labour (in most cases they were installed before then or offered to country's leaders/royals as gifts).

Scams are pretty much rampant everywhere and I'd probably say the number reduced in the time before the Internet was offered globally but probably still occur on a similar level (adjusted for population) as they would've done back before the industrial revolution and towards the start of it - by country. Before mercenaries and other security was hirable and actually worked - and potentially some of the original intentions for the police and fire brigade (to protect possessions). But now the internet and cryptos are becoming more popular, but it's up to governments, isps and individuals to try to work out the best way to protect their citizens from that.
2139  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: lost my punks and a bunch of ETH on: August 03, 2021, 02:56:20 PM

If the user was using a hardware wallet, he would not have given the user access to his wallet.

He might've still fallen for it, they still use mnemonics and you have to recover them by putting the mnemonics in.

Nothing beats not doing stuff when you're tired though, especially when you've got a lot of funds (relative to the person) on those keys.
2140  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Russian court asks bank to unfreeze Bitcoiner's account on: August 03, 2021, 01:06:13 PM
If an action is taken by the bank then it almost definitely will strengthen bitcoin's name and also potentially the relationship between it and banks even in places like Russia (I don't think I've heard of a Russian bank with a global reach).

If the bank does nothing and it goes to a higher court, that might be even more bullish though - provided the court finds in favour of unfreezing the account.
