2121  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: CGMINER GPU FPGA overc monit fanspd RPC stratum linux/windws/osx/mip/r-pi 2.11.3 on: March 19, 2013, 10:59:08 AM
Guy's

I have posted this before and i am posting it again.

Today i found a block and and cgminer api stats Found Blocks equals to 0. It happened two or three times since my last post about it.

something happened from 2.10.5 onwards

PS:

To all of you who use cgminer - Do you see Found Blocks >0 when you know you have found a block with versions 2.10.5 onward

Thanks!

2122  Bitcoin / Hardware / Avalon batch3 + bitpay question on: March 19, 2013, 07:46:27 AM
Guy's
It seems that time is coming.
I was wondering if someone had used bitpay before?
I am particularly interested if we have to sign up for bitpay and transfer our btc there upfront?

I do personally like batch 2 style ordering - Order our units from avalon store and to be able to pay as guests from our wallets.

All comments are welcomed Smiley

2123  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Problem: Avalon#1 stop working very often on: March 16, 2013, 05:38:03 PM
Mine us up for 24 hours without any issues. However i belive that Avalon usb is very sensative to radiation from psu. can you mount some metal box above usb chip (controler board) to act as shield or try to move controler as far as you can from psu?

it might help
2124  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC users thread on: March 16, 2013, 05:31:57 PM
Tomorrow the machine will be put on balcony, which is -15 degree for the moment, is there a way to remote login to web interface?

Do you update the firmware while mining? If you stop the cgminer, how can you make sure it will not be activated again by scheduler?

Not a good idea dude. Air will condese and turn into eatter inside your avalon  - too big temperature difference
2125  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC users thread on: March 15, 2013, 08:23:37 PM
adding a fans and drilling a holes is completely different thing. So leting hot air out with decreased air presure may turn out to be better
2126  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC users thread on: March 15, 2013, 08:21:04 PM

the PSU will die faster.

add rear fans will decrease air pressure in the box.  it will cause the PSU over heat.

Ng,
What about drilling small holes just above PSU fan to let hot air out?
What do you think good/bad. The holes are small no to destroy aluminum box and it to be able to work as heatsink

Woot Carpo is back !!! Go carpo ! lol

It is not me dude but carpo is a happy  avalon owner for sure  Wink

Hi

I think this is a good news.  Grin.  no need change to 64RAM. most Avalon will use the default 703N. 64RAM was only for experience. the hardware upgrade is endless.
  4MB flash --> 8MB flash --> 16MB flash.
  32MB mem --> 64MB mem --> 128MB mem
I think we can put more time on software. Smiley you can put time on find the root cause of why cgminer keep reboot.  the log message will be very useful.

If you like, here is the 64MB mem chip model:
  http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/tp-link/tl-wr703n#mb.ram.mod

1. Bad news: My wr703 has only 32M of RAM. Can somebody post what is the model of the ram chip so i can buy one and upgrade?

Please post RAM 64M chip model.

xiangfu,

Thanks for your input!
I will change both ram and FLASH because i am going to move unit in the friends office soon, because of electricity cost. I want to have openvpn, 3g, screen.ncurses, php and a lot more inside so they both will be changed.
My 8M custom image is waiting a long time ago and i do have missing parts already boot and art partitions  Wink

About  root cause of why cgminer keep reboot. I will not be able to do it because i am powering off/on the unit automatically and there are no logs left. However when i am at home - 10 hours a week i will disable the power off/on and if something wrong happens i will report it for sure!

Doc,
I am very sad...My avalon can not bring down the pool Wink

By the way it works perfect at bitminer !

You know your stuff as i always said  Kiss

PS: to all avalon owners - be invited and mine here  -100% guarantee that the pool will not let you down

Let the luck be with us.......

2130  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [AVALON] - I got my ASIC Thread (Batch #1) on: March 15, 2013, 03:42:16 PM

+1 Up and running Smiley
2131  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC users thread on: March 15, 2013, 02:53:34 PM

I don't like the idea of metal filings falling into my power supply.  Especially aluminum filings.

It will die for sure if you drill while working PLEASE DO NOT DO THAT

I will power it off,

remove all the stuff from the box,
drill it clean it and put everything back together that is the right way to go
2132  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC users thread on: March 15, 2013, 02:48:16 PM
Oh i forgot i will drill a couple of tiny holes for sure just on top of PSu to let some of the hot air to come out instead going into the box. The holes must be tiny because they will not destroy aluminum and it will be still able to work as a heat sink

OMG swarf.

I'll buy the Avalon off you after you fry it.   Smiley
Hey,

The unit will be powered off and completely dissembled first Smiley Keep dreaming dude Smiley

Here are my impressions so far  1h 05m 38s up time

1. Bad news: My wr703 has only 32M of RAM. Can somebody post what is the model of the ram chip so i can buy one and upgrade?

2. God news: It worked straight out of the box Smiley I am running it with 40:300 and it makes exactly 71919.43 Mh/s based on Difficulty Accepted:65,942.00.

Fan2 Fan3 Temp1 Temp2 Temp3
1800 1920   15      -1          43

HW error % extremely low just:0.07%

3. I had three gloves in the package Smiley

Guy's (Ngzhang),

Please post RAM 64M chip model.

2133  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC users thread on: March 15, 2013, 09:02:54 AM
guys, i am not willing to change anything in the machine except the absolutely necessary,
IP,pools and thats it. No firmware update not anything else. very rare and delicate equipment to play with Cheesy

Good point as long there are no problems and it works:)
I know i have to do exactly same thing but..I will mod it for sure - cooling, 3g, 8M flash
I am wondering if power supply is strong enough to handle overclock to 300?

as long as it says 600W-235V on the wall clocked at 282 it means that PSU output is something like 600x0.8 is 480 Wats. I know that it is 650 Wats PSU output but i am wandering how power consummation increases when clocked at 300? It may become something like 550 W in tottal which might be too high for the PSU? I am a kindind of person who prefers to have spare Wats especially speaking of PSU. If you have noticed Bitcoin foundation unit has 1100 Wats PSu for 4 Asics - 850W should be more that enough.
Ngzhang can you comment that when you have time of course. Shall all of us be worried about penitential Power issues when clocked to 300 with Stock 650W PSU?

Oh i forgot i will drill a couple of tiny holes for sure just on top of PSu to let some of the hot air to come out instead going into the box. The holes must be tiny because they will not destroy aluminum and it will be still able to work as a heat sink

2134  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Avalon Asic] trade-in Thread on: March 15, 2013, 05:40:51 AM

3. The dhl lady made a query for ALL shipments originated from HK to my country

And yeah baby she found found it Smiley

What country are you in? Bhutan?
A sort of Smiley
I guess it will not work for US but life sucks sometimes you know:) I am just sharing my experience it may work for some folks

In any way DHL software must be able to sort a query and they need to check manually  only two letters Your Name or Company name does not seem to be very hard, does it?
They do it in Bhutan:)
